The 12 Best Mediterranean Restaurants & Food Trucks In Austin

"Kabobzi’s dining room is large and cozy—it’s decorated with walls of fake plants and thick white ropes hanging from the ceiling that give a vaguely coastal feel to it all. The menu at this spot near UT is mostly made up of Lebanese and Mediterranean classics, with a heavy focus on kabobs and grilled meats. Get the mixed grill combo for a sampling of kafta kabob, grilled beef tenderloin, and chicken shish tawook, and pair it with some hummus and fries for a filling lunch that will also serve as a second and third meal later. Great food! Everything I had was super fresh and delicious. Especially loved the chicken! The food takes a minute but that’s to be expected as everything is so fresh. Service was not the best though, my waitress seemed distracted. She forgot my soda and I had to remind her and when I was ready to check out she wasn’t coming by the table, I had to go find her. Overall I really enjoyed it!

Google
Recently we visited and ordered chicken shawarma over rice and salad, along with falafel served the same way. The falafels were outstanding—crispy and full of flavor—and the chicken was cooked to perfection. Since this place has a Greek influence, the shawarma pieces were a bit chunkier than usual, which might or might not offer the best shawarma experience for some. That said, the food overall was very enjoyable. The freshly baked bread stood out—they were so good that our little one grabbed two right away and kept asking for more! All in all, it was a great meal with excellent service.

Google
Pretty good Mediterranean food near 6th, you have other choices like halal bros but this one definitely stands out for its taste and atmosphere. Plenty of seating based on where it’s located (pretty busy intersection) Parking available but limited spots, some extra spots available behind the restaurant. Right next to Sip Pho so be on the lookout as you might easily miss it. Platters are decently big for 1 person to finish and should be shared. Hummus is great and definitely worth a try. Shawarma dishes are great too! Liked how their menu lights up while reading, a nice touch during dinner when people might find it hard to read thru. Have seen bigger parties (7-8 people) too so a good meet up spot for friends/families. Prices are reasonable! Staff is polite and service is fast, didn’t have much of a wait! They have complimentary pita bread which is so soft and tasty!

My son and I stopped into Kabobzi mid-afternoon. It wasn't busy, as expected for mid-day. The waiter was very friendly. The food was amazing. I ordered a gyro, and it was massive. I also had the Baba Ghanouj. The puffy pita bread they gave us was fun and tasty. My 15-year-old son loved it as well. Would recommend.

Google
What a surprise!! Fantastic Mediterranean Cafe. From the warm welcome to the warm pita and oil dip it was a great start. The Kafta and hummus dish was perfect. If anyone can make this dish and the way it was presented then everything at the restaurant would be amazing as well. The pictures speak for themselves. Timmy who served us was kind and attentive. Great job!!

Google
delicious and great service! loved the lamb kebab and beef kebab. pita with olive oil & zaatar were great appetizers

Google
The first time I went I got a gyro platter (I think)and it was amazing!!! I got hummus and babaganoush on the sides✨✨. I also got the turkish coffee and it was nice and strong, not burnt just strong! The second time i ordered the chicken and gyro over rice and salad to go and it was tasty. They season the rice with cloves, so beware when you’re eating unless you’re cool with having your tongue go numb 😂😂. The prices are fair and service is good. Parking is a bit small so if it’s busy go behind to 30th street and find some there.

Google
Kabobzi was the perfect choice for a pre-event dinner, and it didn’t disappoint. From the moment we arrived, the service set the tone—attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. We began with the hummus and fresh pita bread, creamy and perfectly seasoned, followed by the trio flatbread, each bite more delightful than the last. For our main courses, we had the chicken shawarma platter and the shish tawook platter, both bursting with authentic flavor and expertly prepared. Kabobzi truly captures the essence of traditional Middle Eastern cuisine. Already planning our next visit to explore more of their menu!

Yelp
We wanted Mediterranean. We didn't want to pay a lot or fight for parking. KabobZi fit the bill, perfectly. They have a small but workable parking lot, very reasonable prices, a varied but not overwhelming range of options. Most importantly, our meals were delicious and the portions generous. We both ordered Gyros. He got the platter, with Greek Salad and Hummus, while I went for the Fat Bread Gyro wrap with fries. When we realized we needed more tzatziki sauce, our server was quick and friendly about bringing plenty more. And The Man got a pleasant Pinot Grigio with his meal. He was disappointed they had no Retsina. I was relieved cuz that's some nasty turpentine-smelling stuff. Good. Solid. Med.

Yelp
Their kafta kabob and mixed grill combo were delicious. The kafta kabob was flavorful. It came with a side and I asked for the baba ghanouji which is made with eggplants. The mexied grill combo had chicken that was still juicy. The steak that came with it was delicious too and tender.

Yelp
When we arrived the parking lot was full. We parked around the corner. We were greeted quickly and seated quickly. The woman who was serving that day was super sweet. She had about 4 tables when we arrived and 2-3 more parties came after us. For her being the only server she was good and quick. The spicy hummus was tasty! Just the right amount of spice. Meat rolls were super tasty just wish there was a sauce to go with them. Chicken skillet plate was so good! The chicken was tender and cooked to perfection. The potatoes were well seasoned and the taste was perfect. One thing I wish was there was more sauce for the meal. The plate is big enough for 3-4 people I believe. I wish I could have ordered a glass of wine but I didn't see alcohol on the menu. Overall very tasty! We will be back!

Yelp
This place opened in the neighborhood over a year ago, but I had not yet been in because the outside is less than welcoming. After looking at the menu, we decided to give it a try. The food was good, but a little pricey for what it was. Some traditional Mediterranean sides like tabbouleh were all $2 extra when added on to plates. I chose the chicken shawarma plate with Greek salad. The salad was just basic greens, not what I expected. My friend got a wrap, which was a little dry but tasty. Service was prompt and friendly, but the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. Very sterile feeling environment even though they've added some things to the walls. The seating and chairs were super basic, as was the limited decor. Really not a place I'd want to spend much time in or go out for dinner. Pretty sure I will not go back, but might try takeout.

Yelp
Kind of pricy, but it'd have to be, given the locale. Great place -- nice ambiance, clean RRs, terrific, helpful waitstaff. really good, grande-sized wraps -- the sheesh tawook was perfectly seasoned, as was the gyro wrap. Both could have benefited from more veggies and sauce, but all in all -- satisfying. Excellent fries, excellent baba ganouj. The grape leaves were well seasoned, and not too oily. I cannot praise the garlic sauce enough -- very zippy and perfect on fries. Love this place. If it were 20 miles closer, we'd eat here twice a month!

Yelp
We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. The woman who greeted us was friendly and seemed to be running the front of the restaurant all on her own. She cleaned our tables, brought our menus and water, and took our orders, all while waiting on the other patrons at the same time. I was part of a group of 5. I ordered grape leaves to start since they are one of my favorites. They were warm and delicious, with just the right amount of tartness at the finish. I loved that they were served with Kalamata olives. I was especially glad that I ordered them when the rest of the table's dinner arrived, minus mine. I had made some dietary modifications to my order, so this was understandable. Everyone else at the table complimented the quality of the food. I ordered the beef shawarma bowl. The combination of warm shawarma with cold Greek salad in the same bowl was interesting and efficient. I appreciated that they took my food modifications- no cucumbers, onion, or garlic sauce, without missing a beat and delivered beautifully. A great place to visit if you enjoy Mediterranean food and great service.

Yelp
I was really craving Mediterranean food and this meal did not disappoint! We initially had to wait a few minutes because there was no one there to get us seats. However, for the rest of the meal, our server took great care of us! We ordered a mixed plate, two chicken shawarma platters and a chicken wrap. Everything was fantastic and paired well together. The chicken was juicy, succulent and served on a bed of rice, it was something to die for. I loved the different sauces they had and a special shout-out to their baba ganoush. Their serving sizes were great and we ended up packing food despite all of our overeating. Definitely a must try for Mediterranean food in the area!

Yelp
We got into Austin pretty late and were starving, of course, and couldn't figure out anything in our hangry delirious state. But we somehow managed to find Kabobzi and our lives were saved! The gyro is SO good and they are very generous w the humus. Definitely go, great to eat in or take away!

Yelp
We had takeout from here and loved the following items: - Grilled chicken skewers - Beef tenderloin skewers (wow) - Fried cauliflower (wow) - My partner loved what I think was the tabouli salad And of course if you're getting all that you need to get some pita or rice, hummus, and babaganoush! Delicious food, seriously.

Yelp
Amazing food and the owner was really helpful with everything. Good sunny day helped us enjoy the ambience of the place to the fullest.

Yelp
I am happy to finally have stumbled upon authentic and great tasting Mediterranean food here in Austin. I've tried quite a few dine in places that weren't so great but this one takes the cake so far. I got the mixed grill with rice and Greek salad. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted incredible. I was also very impressed by the service. I could tell that the owners and staff take pride in their business. I will definitely be returning to this establishment to try more dishes in the future.

Troy S.

Yelp
The Food was excellent! Every dish was prepared perfectly. The server went over and above.

Jessica H.

Yelp
Amazing food! Everything was delicious and served quick and fresh. Friendly family. I have never had food like this. The spicy hummus and pita bread was so good. I got the chicken shawarma bowl. It was most delicious. It has chicken, Greek salad and excellent rice. My mom got the beef shawarma wrap and it was very tasty. Highly recommend stop in here.

Yelp
The fries cheese rolls on the Hot appetizers is soooo delicious. Definitely worth it for the price The feta and mozzarella compliment the sauce so well and isn't super greasy. Very delicious :)

Yelp
My quest for more Mediterranean brought me to an establishment by the domain. I was eager to try this restaurant because of the referral from my friend who is also a foody! Instead of getting my usual favorite which is a combo over rice, I opted to get the mixed grill which was great. The dish consisted of beef Kafka, beef kabobs and chicken kabobs. Each meat serving was tender and the hummus was flavorful. Also, the salad capped off the flavorful dish. Finally,I usually take a picture of my dishes; however, I was really hungry so I just dove in and didn't get a good picture. If you are by the domain and are Looking for some good Mediterranean food, Please give this establishment a try. I will be going there again.

Yelp
Three Stars are considered "A- OK" and I enjoyed Kabobzi as an A-OK restaurant. I'm in Austin for Business and I drove past this small restaurant in this strip mall this morning. I'm always up to Indian, Thai and Halal food. So for dinner we made our way over. The store front is small but there is plenty enough sitting. The menu is clear and posted above the cashier as images of each platter or dish. I ordered the beef Shawarma platter over rice and humus. It was served quickly along with the humus which was served with half of a Lebanese flatbread (pita bread?) placed in a zip lock baggie. The Shawarma wasn't what I expected which is long thin slices of marinated beef that has been cooked on a spit. This was very tasty but it lacked the char of the open flame and the slices of meat were more like pieces of meat that were braised in a sauce. And no pita or flat bread came with the meal. The humus was delicious but I had to request more flatbread to eat the side dish. What could be done differently? The flat bread should be served hot and whole in a basket. Every plater should have at least one bread, and the humus needs two. The shawarma has a great flavor but texture and shape are being sacrificed in the preparation.

Yelp
I ordered a delivery. Unfortunately, the missing items resulted in the two stars instead of 3-4. The items I got were very well done, the falafel wrap was delicious, the Kofte platter was good. I may, in time, try them again, for pick up or eat at restaurant, but no delivery because maybe they are a bit careless.

Sarah K.

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing restaurant!!! The food is delicious and the family that runs it is so sweet! You can tell they put a lot of care into running their business. The food is to die for. You must check it out!!!

Yelp
Very poor management, and deceptive marketing. I used to love this place. I'd take a 30 minute drive to it just for some of that shwarma. I placed an order online today for it thru Yelp, and got the platter instead. I double checked Yelp, and next to the only beef shawarma listed is photos of the wrap, reviews of the wrap, and the words "Beef Shawarma Protein". I let the cashier know it must've been some kind of mixup, and asked if they could put it in a wrap. The cashier was very polite and took it to the back, but the manager ran out and intercepted it. I had to spend 10 minutes explaining to this guy the situation, and the whole time he insisted that he had no control over their own Yelp posting. I'm pretty sure it was just an accidental oversight, maybe the person in charge of setting it up assigned the wrong photo to the order. But the manager wouldn't even concede that it was deceptive to have photos of the wrap next to the listing for the platter. They did eventually fix it after a ton of back and forth, but the manager's attitude to the whole situation was bizzare, considering that the plate is apparently 3 bucks more expensive then the wrap anyways.

Yelp
Outsoursing restaurant I have ever been in Austin. The best Staff, Mr Zi is very hospitable and very friendly. Jeyson is the best men. He really cool person in this business and services. He is very kind and very helpful and open minded

Dhwanil S.

Yelp
This is a regular Mediterranean cafe near UT campus. The interior is quite okay but then I guess their main customers are students. Their food is also from good to average. We ordered fried cauliflower florets as an app which was good but it doesn't come in some sauce as usual and is pretty dry to eat alone, so had to ask for sauce on the side. Ordered the falafel bowl with rice and chicken shawarma platter. Their falafel was amazing. The chicken platter was good and just regular.
google avatar

Lexis R.

Yelp
I made a Yelp account just so I could write this review. The atmosphere was very welcoming and everyone was so friendly. The chicken shawarma was amazing and came out of the kitchen incredibly fast. So happy I came across this place!
google avatar

Paulette A.

Yelp
I pass this place every day on my commute to work and gave it a shot during my lunch hour. Definitely a commemorable Mediterranean restaurant! The hummus and falafels are the perfect combo; not to forget how texturally great the falafel is itself. The hubs ordered the Mix Grill Combo, and the kafta was undeniably the STAR. Some kaftas are ruined with excess oregano, but Kabobzi has mastered subtly spicing - powerful yet delicate flavor. I had the chicken shawarma over tabouli, also delish. But dessert is always the best part of the meal, especially if it's Baklava! Kabobzi's baklava not only is huge, to the point that it resembles the size and filling amount of a finger sandwich. I would return just to taste them again.

Julie H.

Yelp
I don't even like lamb BUT it was delicious! My gyro was tasty but all the food was stellar, all the way around! Thank you!
google avatar

Lisa O.

Yelp
The gyro was good, but both my husband and I thought the baba ghanoush wasn't great. My husband said he couldn't taste the roasted eggplant as the garlic was overpowering. I thought the baba ghanoush tasted burnt. We've both had better baba ghanoush elsewhere.
google avatar

Lisa K.

Yelp
This is my new fav middle eastern place to eat in Austin. #1Choice. Recommend the chicken shawarma and falafel tastes just like it came off a food truck in Beirut. Super friendly staff and very knowledgeable about food intolerances. Plenty to eat if you don't eat gluten or dairy.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
On the chance I had some business in Austin, I wanted to find a gyro place close to the hotel. Fortunately Kabobzi was within walking distance so I went ahead and grabbed dinner. People here are super friendly and down to earth. They are also helpful with menu items as well. I went ahead and snagged a traditional gyro and fries. Everything came out to a little over $10. Even after walking back to the hotel, the taste and temperature were spot on. I start to drool each time I think about the gyro I had. The tzatziki sauce and meat was flavorful! If you want a healthy alternative and something that will leave you smiling this is the place to be!
google avatar

Shahrzad Y.

Yelp
Great great tasting food and super friendly staff. We've tried wraps, plates, and pretty much everything here and all tasty. Im vegetarian and their falafels are absolutely delicious and my favorite. Must try. I wish there were more locations.

Sam H.

Yelp
Great Lebanese place in Austin. After being disappointed with another Lebanese restaurant in Austin, we had high hopes for Kabobzi . They did not disappoint. Their place is very inviting with a modern look and decor. In addition to great and friendly service, the food was delicious. They have the tastiest most authentic taboule that I have had in a restaurant. I recommend Kabobzi to anyone looking for great Lebanese food in Austin. I know I will be back here the next time I am in Austin.

Cheyenne C.

Yelp
This place is awesome!! They give you SOO MUCH FOOD for your money. We got the gyro bowl with fries. The meat was great, the food was fresh, and it was all around delicious. The service was also phenomenal, they were so kind.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Haven't had a bad meal here yet. Hummus has lots of flavor, though it could use more pita with the serving. Falafel or beef shawarma wraps are usually my go-to. The 8" wrap will leave you more than satisfied and the 12" can be split and had the next day. Parking is a pain, but in the shopping center Kabobzi is located, everything is busy there, especially during the lunch rush.
google avatar

Joshua L.

Yelp
I always get Uber eats when I order from Kabobzi, but today I decided to go in and pick up my food and I am glad I did. I have been having one of those days and the first thing that the cashier did was say "your energy is everything and I love it." she was very kind and got my food right away. It's nice to know that not only their food is a amazing, but also the people are too
google avatar

Mels B.

Yelp
Awesome fresh food...I want the recipes! So flavorful! I'm sure everything was made from scratch. We had Mixed Grill, Beef Tenderloin (very tender and tasty) and Fried Cauliflower (not breaded - Yes!) I am definitely bringing family and friends back here!!
google avatar

Santiago R.

Yelp
Great mediterranean food here for a fair price. Delicious flavors and high quality meals.
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Ordered via Lunchdop again. My orders are never messed up, always as requested right down to the additional requests such as the extra Tzatziki sauce on the side - which happens to be delicious. I ordered the Shish Tawook Wrap: Grilled chicken tenders marinated and wrapped in pita bread with tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and garlic sauce. So delicious, this chicken is moist and perfectly cooked. I got the 8 inch wrap - I couldnt imagine trying to eat the 12 inch one, its a very large wrap filled with that yummy chicken and veggies. All of the flavors work together well to make a very well balanced wrap. This is definitely recommended.
google avatar

Leonarda J.

Yelp
Solid quality food. Ingredients are fresh. They use just the right amount of seasoning without being overpowering and at a very reasonable price. We had the grilled chicken over rice and salad and the Lamb Kebob. All were delicious and freshly prepared. I will be coming back again!

Zachary L.

Yelp
Great service with great food! We had a few wraps with each of the meats and it was delicious! Worth every buck and the service was excellent, the waiter was checking on us consistently! If we lived in town we said we'd come back a lot!

Yelp
I grew up near Paterson, NJ, which has one of the most vibrant Middle Eastern communities in the country. My friends and I used to go into Paterson to eat authentic Middle Eastern good on a pretty regular basis. Since I moved to Austin, I have not found a place that comes even remotely close to the quality Middle Eastern food in the Northeastern US. Fast forward to 10/21/2020... My wife and I ordered food at Kabobzi on Guadalupe and the first thing that struck me was the staff. Helpful, friendly, and quick. In all the food took about 15 min from phone call to pickup. The platters that we ordered were chicken over rice and Fatoush salad. The Fatoush Salad was the best I've ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, and my wife's chicken platter was also delicious. Fresh veggies, a terrific dressing, and spices that normal, non-Authentic Middle Eastern places in Austin leave out. If they keep up the food quality, cleanliness of their establishment, great tasting food, and awesome customer service, I will be coming here for years to come. All of the other Middle Eastern restaurants in Austin just took a back seat to this place. Give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Amir L.

Yelp
Go with chicken shawarma wrap. We got several things in the menu like gyro and chicken kabob but they were ok. The chicken shawarma is really really good though. Go for the large size wrap, I don't eat much but the large was good for me. A small may not cut for most people. Get some free tea on your way out.
google avatar

Shelly M.

Yelp
We went here twice in 2 days. Food is great! Falafels are made well. Great place to have good food!
google avatar

Charlie S.

Yelp
Even though they messed up my order up a couple of times I'm still rolling with them. It's like getting soup from the soup nazi, but without the yelling and bickering. You don't mind the occasional mishap. George Costanza didn't get his bread but he did get some delicious soup. Support local businesses.
google avatar

Michelle A.

Yelp
Wow... I came here two days in a row, the food is amazing! Very fresh and the staff ate very nice. My favorite are the cheese rolls, chicken shawarma, and hummus. Please patronize KABOBZI. Good Eats.. Gwen
google avatar

Jibran K.

Yelp
This is a Lebanese restaurant. We are from houston so we have had our fair share of Mediterranean food. I'm a little confused with this place. We got the mixed grill combination plate, with hummus and fries (both were good), an order of cheese rolls (the cheese smelled weird) and the Lebanese coffee. They don't have milk for the coffee, tasted really different. We didn't quite like it. The beef tenderloin from the mixed grill was good. The shish tawook had a slight smell to it. The kofta kabob was average. Service was meh, they spent most of the time inside. Barely saw anyone. The wife said she had a peek in the kitchen or work area ND looked messy and unkept.
google avatar

Auday S.

Yelp
Very good food selections of Mediterranean cuisine delicacy I liked their Beef Shawarma (Halal) as well as their Protein over Rice & Salad
google avatar

Theresa M.

Yelp
I have lived right across the street from the place and had never stopped by. But today i decided to give a try. I hit the jack pot! The place is amazing! The kafta kabob was perfect! Tasty tenderand just cooked right. I am very picky with Mediterranean food . This place is really good. Very service and really good food! The Manager/ cook Haitham came out to greet us. Mask on of course and asked if we needed anything. We personally told him how good the food was! Wow. I will come back many more times and be a regular customer now. So glad i finally came here. Try the fried cauliflower its cooked to perfection!! Everything is really good that had. You must try this place .. little hidden local business on Burnett across from Domain. We will be back soon! Thanks again!

Yelp
Best authentic mediterranean food in Austin!! Tastes great, portions are filling and Great value for the money. Calming music environment and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Drew P.

Yelp
We had a great experience at Kabobzi. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and came out quickly. But the reason I chose to leave a review was because of how over-the-top excellent the service was. We'll definitely be back

Shamus W.

Yelp
A friend recommended this restaurant and I am so happy we tried it. The food is delicious and the owner, Ziad, is extremely welcoming and friendly. The staff was very nice and service was great. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing food for a fair price. I've been here twice in the last week for the wraps and plan on trying more menu options soon!
google avatar

Jonathan L.

Yelp
Excellent Mediterranean food. The gyro and chicken platter was delicious. Very friendly and curteous staff; if I could change something about the experience, I would add music. It was very quiet inside and at times there was no one speaking in the resturant so I felt I had to whisper to avoid having my conversations overheard. A little music could add ambiance and make it easier to hold conversation and relax!
google avatar

Chelsea S.

Yelp
Was looking for a good Mediterranean fix nearby and found Kabobzi to be highly regarded on Yelp. Unfortunately I did not have as great a dining experience here as my fellow Yelpers. The signature platters indicate the wait time is 15-20 minutes. I opted for a chicken schwarma dish because I was not in the mood to wait. My chicken schwarma over rice dish took at least 15 minutes to come out. And when it did, it was dry and lacking in taste. Special sauce had to be doused on the chicken for it to be palatable (sauce which costs an extra $0.35 per serving). Then, I was ready to try dessert. I had to whistle to get someone to take my order. They didn't have the rice pudding that is on their menu, so I passed. Finally, I went to the bathroom before heading out, to find no toilet paper in sight. Awarding two stars because my husband's beef schwarma wrap was actually pretty good. My husband also did say the guy taking our order rolled his eyes when I asked a question. I didn't catch that but based on the service and experience here, I believe him.
