"We weren’t going to put kebabs first on our list, but honestly, this place is A1. It’s located in Flushing and has some of the juiciest Afghan kebabs and largest portions of broth-simmered rice in the city. They also serve hummus, samsa, chicken soup, lamb shank, salmon kebabs, and a delicious assortment of mantoo, or Afghan steamed beef dumplings in yogurt sauce. The mantoo is a must-get because the texture of the translucent, meat-filled dumplings and yogurt sauce just makes sense. It’s chewy but al-dente and reminds us of eating pasta bolognese in the best way possible." - Jiniya Azad, Sameen Choudhry

This is my first time trying this place. Love it. Food is delicious. I will Definitely visit again… Highly recommend. Restaurant decor and environment was really nice and clean. Service was great too..

Google
This place offers a decent dining experience with a variety of Afghan dishes. I went there today with my friends for dinner. The kebabs are flavorful and cooked well, the portion size is decent. I thought the food was delicious, ambience was okay, in term of customer service it was okay, nobody really checked on us throughout our meal minding you it wasn’t hectic at the time we went. I am not too sure if this place offers authentic Afghani food, but I was pleased enough. My only big issue is how can a restaurant like that not serve tap water, I had to pay for my water, which I think was not okay. (Bring your water or drink if you are going there). Overall, it's a good spot for a quick and satisfying meal if you're in the area and craving Afghan cuisine. I am giving 3/5 because of the water situation and the ambience.

Google
I ordered delivery and the food was pretty good. I ordered two beef kofta lunch specials and an order of sambosa. The beef was tasty and the rice was cooked well. The roasted tomato on the side was absolutely delicious. The sambosa didn't travel as well as it wasn't crispy when it arrived but was still really good. I appreciated that they didn't skimp on the white and green sauces. I really enjoyed their version of the green sauce. I've never had one quite like this. It was a little bit spicy, but extremely wonderfully tangy.
I would definitely order again. I will probably try the chicken tikka next time.

Super clean nice delicious food. Good taste of meat and chicken you can tell it's halal. Salad fresh service good. Good job guy's 👏🏼 👍🏼

Google
The food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was incredibly welcoming. The staff were friendly, and Mohammad, who served our table, was particularly attentive. He answered all our questions thoroughly and with great professionalism.

Google
Amazing place to eat in. Foods are delicious. Atmosphere is great. Worth it.

Google
Very very delicious food, tasty lamb kabobs and brown rice. The combination appetizer plate is a must get! Especially the beef samosas, and the eggplant and hummus dips. Everything we ordered was absolutely scrumptious! Although the prices are on the higher side, we would definitely recommend and be back to try some other dishes. Thank you so much!

One of best the halal restaurants in NYC. Service was great.

Yelp
The food is consistently delicious. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. The restaurant is spacious and clean. Love bringing friends to Kabul Kabab for delicious middle Eastern food.

Yelp
I went here for lunch on a weekday to try it out. Walking in, I wish there was better music or even Afghan music to liven up the place as there were nature sounds playing and it didn't suit the restaurant. I think that would help the ambiance a lot. The food was amazingggg. The meat was seasoned well and tasted delicious. I noticed they were preparing a lot of take out orders but that didn't affect the service we received. Would definitely eat here again!

J J.

Yelp
Was my first time ordering here. Chicken was very dry and bland. The rice also just tasted like herb , no savory tasty flavor that I am used to when I order kebabs. Price was also on the higher side , close to 20 dollars for 1 person meat rice. I would recommend getting chicken over rice at any halal cart and it will taste way better and cost less than half the price. Would not come back for sure.

Najwa G.

Yelp
Kabul Kabab House has some solid food at very reasonable prices. I got 3 lunch specials and read some reviews that it might not be enough food but it was more than adequate at a great value as well. If I had to pick, I liked the chicken kabab a lot better than the beef kabab. It was a lot more moist, albeit the beef wasn't bad. The standout IMHO was the green sauce- it was a lot spicier than most places and hit the spot (is that still a cool thing to say)? All in all, I will definitely get takeout if not visit this fantastic place one day if I'm in the area.

Nina M.

Yelp
This place never misses! My partner and I have been going here for a few years now and they just get better over time! The best afghani food ever.

Zachary C.

Yelp
This place used to be my go to for fresh grilled kebabs. It's gotten more expensive and smaller portions over time. I got the beef tikka recently and it was $21 for 4 pieces of beef and all rice. The beef was overall dry and can't recommend this place anymore to others.

Brie F.

Yelp
My coworker and I decided to order some food from Kabul via UberEats. We decided to order the same thing, a Chicken Kebab Combo with Mixed Brown and White Rice, Extra Sauce and I also got Sambora. Combos serves 1-2 people and consists of your choice of any two kebabs from a entree, rice (white, brown, or green), and a salad. If you want to add Qabeli (raisins and carrots) to your rice it's a $3 charge. If you want to upgrade your complimentary green salad for a Shirazi Salad (chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and mint) there's a $4 charge. The food was delicious. Well seasoned but overpriced for the amount they charge for the combo. Also they should allow you to add just a kebab without all of the bells and whistles. I wouldn't recommend the sambora. It was an oily mess.

Tammer L.

Yelp
We went here on Tuesday once they opened. We were the first customers for the day, and they were very nice to us. We noticed that the decor in the restaurant was very friendly and there were nice pictures. We asked for water, but they said they only sold bottles and gave us a water bottle in the house. Then, we ordered the sambosas and a combo platter with salmon and lamb tikka. They had pita bread with butter as the free appetizer. The butter was good and had a hint of lemon or some herb that made it unique. The sambosas were so good, especially with the spicy green sauce. The platter didn't have much variety; however, it came with a lot of delicious brown rice. The salmon was excellent and flavorful, but the lamb was a little dry and chewy. Overall the food was good, and we would return for the sambosas and try the other meats.

Yelp
Nothing special for a dining experience one tier above fast food. Came here on week day for their lunch special. We happened to be the only ones dining in an empty restaurant. We sat ourselves and the waiter did not offer water or recommended anything. We had to ask for menus and for water he pointed to the soda fridge he said you can buy some bottled water. We got the lunch specials which tasted ok for kebabs. The waiter never checked in on our food or if we needed anything. When we finally had enough he brought the check over which included a service charge (tip). Overall the food and service were very lacking and perhaps that is why the place is completely empty for the entire hour we were there. We walked one block in both directions to peek in on other restaurants. All had lots of customers eating in while Kabul was dead. We should have trusted our own eyes before sitting down rather than good reviews on Yelp.

Evelina C.

Yelp
Tried Kabul Kabab for the first time because of a friend recommendation and overall I'd give it a solid 4/5. I tried the barg and and my friend tried the chicken. The barg was very tender. Be sure to ask for medium rare or else is going to be super overcooked! I also tried the carrot and raisin rice, and it wasn't really folded into the rice. I wouldn't recommend it at all. Just order the brown rice which is what my friend did. We also tried the appetizer trio. It came with the samoas, hummus, and eggplant appetizer. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of any of the appetizers. The babaganoush wasn't really babaganoush. It had a tomato sauce mixed in and just wasn't the dish I expected. All in all I'd say that the meat was great! But everything else was ok. Solid 4/5 because of the meat quality

Lisa L.

Yelp
The service was impeccable! The food delicious and generous portions. I enjoyed the appetizers and the lamb chops. What a difference from this new management!

K H.

Yelp
Got take out from Kabul Kabab - a chicken and a Koobideh enterees. We were so looking forward to the food because of reviews. Turns out the food were dry and lack flavors. So disappointed.

Afrin K.

Yelp
Really delicious afghan food! Ordered their meat combo with the lamb kebab, as well as their combination appetizer platter. The meats were delicious, as well as the added sauces. Asked for their sweeter carrots and raisins as well, a must add for the flavor. Overall would definitely come back and highly recommend.

Z S.

Yelp
Excellent food. Delicious taste. Lots of choice. Good value for money. Combo for 2 $35 and combo for 3 is $50. Typical ambience for an Afgan restaurant. Seating for about 80 persons. Service was good until we finished the entres and ordered deserts. The little table was full of empty plates and trays but the staff would not clean the table. We asked them three times, they walked by 15 times, but did not. So we had to collect the trays and plates, and wiped the tables by ourselves, so we coukd eat the deserts. Everything else was great.

Cellina L.

Yelp
Best salmon ever! The food is fantastic and love the white sauce in a maple syrup container. Wow~ umlimited white sauce and the lamb was unbelievable. Could not ask for more. The brown rice is authentic! You have to try this place. You will not regret it.

Lucia R.

Yelp
Had their Salmon kabob w/ the green rice. Absolute best meal I've had in a while. It was my first time having green rice and it's a must try! So so good Only take away is they charge for water but other than that, will definitely be returning. Walked it off at Queens botanical garden nearby :)

Sam K.

Yelp
Pretty average food, but really great service. I'm personally not a big fan of halal, so that might be why I wasn't too crazy about this place. I got the beef kofta, which was good. However, this came with a huge portion of rice (that I didn't even eat half of), a single tomato, and a couple raw pieces of onion. I feel like the meal was lacking something- there should've been more vegetables and less rice. Other than the food, the service was great and our waiter was so nice! If you like halal, you most likely would enjoy it here, it just wasn't for me.

Donnie C.

Yelp
This place use to be great; now the got cheap and cut cost. The meal use to come with a side salad and a whole tomato. Now you get no side salad and half a tomato and they raised the prices. I don't recommend this place anymore. There's plenty of other middle eastern food places to go or order for delivery where you're going to get your moneys worth.

Aleena A.

Yelp
It's a 3.5 taste/flavor wise but service is always good. I picked up food here recently, and before that popped in person pre pandemic. Love the taste of the white sauce as it's a little more on the sour tang side. I feel like I need alot of white sauce to enjoy the meal. I think some afghani places make the rice a little greasier so that it pairs better with the meat (which I would have liked). They have great lamb just a little pricey. If you have $30 def go for the lamb and if you're in the mood for that nice char on your chicken also great. I got the kobideh and it tasted a little dry for me :( but I wanted to love it. Portions were great though. Better luck next time!

Nicole K.

Yelp
Ambiance: It's a simple looking place. Nice pictures on the wall. Appears to be clean. Food: excellent (flavorful, good texture, fresh). I was in LOVE with the flavor. Service: very nice staff.

Zeshan A.

Yelp
Lamb shank is the best item on the menu. The portion is very big two big pieces of lamb with bone. Could be a meal for two if you don't eat much. The lamb is very tender and falls off the bone and the sauce pairs well with this dish. I added a ton of chili powder and souk so I made it spicy. A must try - you will not be disappointed. 5 stars.

Camille M.

Yelp
The food here is delicious, albeit pricey. But I don't mind paying for quality and the food is delicious! That being said, the management here is stingy AF. I paid $120 for kebab delivery. I wanted to add Qabuli: the carrots and raisins that go atop the rice. This is already overpriced at $5 on the menu. I asked if there was a way to add and charge me; they said no. I asked if they could just be gracious and add it comp given the large order; they said no. We are talking about a handful of cooked carrots and raisins to be placed atop the rice here. CARROTS AND RAISINS! And they said nah. Samosas were bland. That's just poor business practice. They've lost a customer in me. They're green sauce was also watery and gross AF this time. See picture. Bleh!

Terry F.

Yelp
Wow how this place got my review deleted I don't know okay let me take everyone down memory lane. I ordered a combination kabob platter for pick up that contained stale rice and cold kabob. After calling and speaking with the owner Abdul, he was nasty and rude, so I reported him to the health department after he refused to resolve the situation by simply issuing a refund for the nasty food he sold or try to make the situation better by simply offering fresh food. It's about to be 2024 and I don't know what was nastier, the cold kabob/stale rice or the owner ABDUL's attitude. ALSO, I don't know why this place falls under "HALAL" as the owner himself confirmed he does not sell halal food when we asked him directly. Maybe he was hungover when I called him and in a bad mood. Anyways, after coming to this place for 20 years I couldn't believe how arrogant unprofessional and nasty the owner was. A complete Narcissist I wish I recorded the phone conversation I would post it on here. I will keep posting periodically if this is deleted since it looks like my review was deleted. People need to know this place isn't "halal" and I always see practicing Muslims eat here.

Jasmeen K.

Yelp
If you're going to try out any afghan food you HAVE to try Kabul Kabab. My family and I have been eating here for years and we can never get enough. When my family comes from out of the country, this is the first thing on their list when they get hungry. The atmosphere here is decent but the food makes up for it. MUST VISIT SO GOOD!!!

Fateha A.

Yelp
1st time here & the food is pretty good. They have salad for starters (lettuce, cucumber, tomato). We got the Combo platter for 2 (Combo 2) which was abt $55. We got Lamb Tikka, Beef tikka & beef kofta. It comes with raw onion & roasted tomatoes. Everything was good. I love kofta since it's so juicy & cuts easily. The green chili sauce is really spicy which I didn't expect since the 1 in Bakhtar isn't spicy at all & I been going to the latter for yrs. They only have 1 ice cream flavor. It has pistachios & is kinda minty. I just wish they had more ice cream flavors like mint chocolate chip, chocolate, strawberry, etc. The service is great.

Brian R.

Yelp
I came here the other night and food was good. Service was perfect. I attempted to come again and a different person was working. As I'm about to enter he meets me at the door and asks what do I want? Being rude is not a good look for the business. I don't know what his deal was but poor manners is not cool. I simply said to him if you don't want my money I'll go somewhere else. I attempted to take a picture of the restaurant, and you can see the back of the person wearing a red shirt. Ps I was going to get the food to go anyway

Saf K.

Yelp
Overpriced, and under quality and taste. It was not authentic at all. It looks really good in the pictures but lacks flavors. Their kabuli pulao was blant rice overly sweet with raisins. Meat was ok but looked old. Not going there again.

Darcy K.

Yelp
Delicious food, great for a casual night out. Don't be in a rush though--they do lots of takeout and in person service can be slow ish.

Tas J.

Yelp
Halal Afghan, went on 8/27/2022 for dinner because we were in Flushing. We wanted to start off with the combo plate of appetizers, but they didn't have most of the appetizers available (we did go in the evening), so we opted to go straight into the main dishes. Also, note that they do not provide complimentary water, so we had to buy 2 sodas. We chose to get the largest platter: the Combo 2 which is almost $50 and includes 3 types of kababs and rice (we got half green rice, half brown rice). The green rice was a definite standout, we could almost just eat it by itself. The brown rice was a great vessel for the kabab, but it wasn't anything special compared to the green rice. The green rice is only available on weekends, so I highly recommend going on the weekends for it. The chicken kabab was nice, and so was the beef tikka (both 8.5/10). Compared to those, the chapli kabab didn't have as great of a texture, but it still wasn't bad. The roasted tomato was a nice refreshing touch. The salad that it came with was okay, nothing special, but there were sauces nearby to pour onto your plate if necessary. Just Combo 2 was enough to fill a family of 4, but we didn't realize how filling the platter would be when we also ordered a Lamb Tikka plate. The Lamb Tikka was good and not too gamey, and it wasn't overly chewy either. The kababs were kind of pricey, but their Afghan-style kababs were unique to us and very yummy.

Sarah Z.

Yelp
SO BEYOND DELICIOUS! My favorite is the Barg kabab so tender and flavorful. Everything on their menu is just great.

Louis L.

Yelp
Good for a quick meal but not for your money's worth. Beef Tikka (2/5) - included a few chunks of kebab beef with roasted onions and pepper on a bed of a LOT of rice. I had so much leftover rice that I used it for another meal at home. Bonus points for the friendly staff though.

Justine ..

Yelp
We ordered salmon over green rice (basmati with dill and lima beans), chicken over white rice, and salad. Everything was fresh, delicious, and perfectly cooked! The white and green sauce were tasty too and a great addition! I still can't get over the green rice, it was so comforting. I can't wait to visit again!!

Aswat P.

Yelp
Food is always good and good quality. Definitely recommend. Always fresh and even salad and all is fresh. Great quality as well. Well worth the price. Nice, clean, small space. I mostly do takeout and customer services is already great which I truly appreciate. Thank you for being consistent.

John P.

Yelp
The food was decent, but they DON'T offer tap water. How do you charge $2 for bottled water in Flushing? Unacceptable. A group of diners sitting to our right ordered bottled waters halfway during their meal because their throats were parched. The family sitting in front of us left several disposable plastic cups and opened bottled waters. All the diners there were pushed to order bottled water. How do you finish the meal otherwise?

Tsz-Cheong C.

Yelp
This is my first time dining here and I have been to the sister branch in Westbury Long Island. The only main difference between the two places is the following if you care: 1. Flushing is CASH ONLY, Westbury accepts credit cards. 2. Flushing has no vegetable option on lunch specials, Westbury you can choose between rice or vegetables for an up charge. 3. Flushing serves salad and pita with lunch, Westbury serves pita and hummus. Other than that the food and flavors are the same Great chicken and kofte kebabs. The seasonings are the key with delicious infused kabobs served with roasted tomatoes, rice, sweet onions and a self helping of white and green sauce. The decor is simple and elegant with wooden tables and since parking is a challenge. Kabul kabab will pay for the 1st hour of parking at the "Easy parking garage" on Maple Ave. Hey, every little bit helps. The manager Lee and his staff are cordial offering up exceptional service with a smile. It's nice to have two places to get my Afghan food fix. Remember to arrive hungry because the portion sizes are extremely generous .

Jasreen K.

Yelp
This place has been there for as long as I can remember. My brother kept talking me into trying their beef or lamb but I don't do either so I ordered chicken. Honestly it was good but not out of the world experience. Their BAKLAVA though is to die for!!!!!! And yes it was my first time trying this place out :)

Aamir N.

Yelp
I have been here at least a 100+ times Need not say more, I think this place has the best lamb chops in the whole US. Tell them to do medium Well as they usually cooked it well done because that's how people are accustomed to eat it.

Kabir A.

Yelp
Really 3.5 but feeling generous. This was my second time here and confirmed my rating. Came here on a Friday afternoon for some late lunch in September. Place had two other patrons and two staff members on the floor. We were greeted instantly and gestured to sit anywhere we like. The employee shortly handed us menus and set down waters. The two of us chose the eggplant app & combination 1 ( came with 2 kebabs, rice and salad). For the 2 kebabs we chose the burgh and salmon. Salads were fresh and the white sauce had just the right amount of tang. The eggplant app was great for 2 people to share; accompanied by soft, warm, diced up pieces of pita bread. Waiter reccomended having it with their green peper sauce and boy that made a difference - delicious! The burgh kebab was rectangular slices of marinated beef that was a bit tough to chew but had a perfect coating of burnt/crisp layer. The salmon didn't pack much flavor but one of the softest I've had. Both went well with the brown rice. Overall, there really isn't anything special about the common items of the Mediterranean cuisine served here. Price is on the higher end. Staff is attentive. Portions are good. Reccomend!

Hebah R.

Yelp
Kabul Kebob has been one of our most favorite go to dinner spots for my family and I. Over the years we continued dining in at their Flushing location with our family and friends that even visit from out of town however, our experience recently has not been great at all with this location. They've increased their prices - which is understandable due to the pandemic and inflation but they've decreased the portions and changed the quality of the food. When one large mix platter used to be enough food for 4-5 people, is now barely enough for 2. They are always out of items, they removed high chairs for children and are now making mistakes on orders. In my experience, once you change the quality of anything, is when you start to lose customers which lead to little to no business.

Edgar B.

Yelp
Food alone is good, However service is soo bad. On the menu it says the combo comes with salad for two people and when our entree arrived I asked where our salad was and the guy said it no longer comes with salad I said well it clearly still says it on the menu and he refused to and offered for me to buy the side of salad (I've been here many times before and so it's apparently a new rule) . My wife asked for a glass of tap water and they said they don't do tap water and offered a bottle of water only. Everything just seems really shady like if they're just trying to get your money in a sneaky way. At the end the check comes with automatic gratuity even for a table of 2 . Which ofcourse they don't communicate to us.

Punga I.

Yelp
Very bland food. When asked for hot sauce the server pointed me to raw red chili pepper. Rice were reheated. Salad was cold from the freezer. Not so clean plates. Overall meh experience. Nothing to come, look for parking, and then have this food.

Vinay K.

Yelp
The food is absolutely amazing every time I come. My favorited are the lamb chops and the chicken kobideh. I have never been disappointed.

Karin C.

Yelp
The grilled salmon with the green rice and yogurt sauce is soo good! I like the side salad and grilled tomato. Go try it !

Amrin I.

Yelp
The food is delicious. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for halal food. It's missing my kabuli lol but that's okay the server brought it out after. Definitely would take this to go next time instead of sitting down.

Monica S.

Yelp
This is one of my all time favorite places to eat in Queens. I've been eating here for a little over a decade and I must admit I do get a little disappointed when the portions of food seem cut down. I've also had to haggle with the waiters over where to sit and service. Those are annoying, but I'm only there for the food! I think they still might be cash only and you better be prepared to wait long. Order appetizers! I don't have a favorite for those cause I'm only craving the meat dishes. Enjoy!

Dani J.

Yelp
Amazing food. Will revisit again Everyone should try them out, they have a pretty fast service

Juan C.

Yelp
So I had been eying this place for the longest and decided to give it a shot. The lamb over rice was amazing. Would definitely go back but.....a mandatory service charge? (That's not a tip) I'm sorry but I have been eating all types of food up and down queens forever from the four corners of the world and have never seen a mandatory service charge. Don't know if I will go back again.

Ellen M.

Yelp
Excellent. Was in for the US Open and wanted Middle Eastern food. This place didn't disappoint. Highly recommend. Next time I'm in Queens I am RUNNING here.
