I was sad to see Karayama fried chicken close in Little Tokyo. But this restaurant, Kabuto, opened just around the corner of the neighborhood. And I'm so glad it did. The chicken is superior in every way. It is bone-in karaage. It is epic. It is crispy. And it is juicy as a fountain! Probably the juiciest fried chicken I've ever had. Well done brining process for sure.
I've never had fried chicken that came from Utsunomiya, but all I can say is, this chicken is delicious! I got both the Kabuto and the Jidori set, which basically means I got every single piece of the chicken from the leg to the breast. It comes with two dipping sauces, the mayo and the spicy, both of which were great. I also got the mac n cheese, which was very cheesy since it mixes 3 different kinds of cheese to produce this taste.
It is a bit on the pricey side, but the taste is well worth it. It's some of the best fried chicken I've ever had in LA. So if you are a fried chicken fan and are in the Little Tokyo area, give this place a shot. I shot a YouTube video of my experience here, which you can find if you go to my channel called Rockstar Eater.
