Sushi tasted ok but you can tell the quality was not there. Some parts of the bar felt not clean. Ordering system was great! Just sit down and scan the code and they bring it to you. The area was very cool but the cost of the food with the quality did not meet expectations. Though it’s definitely NOT the worse sushi I’ve ever had.

Quite literally the worst taken I have ever had! The only good thing about this restaurant is the incredible kind man working the bar. The ramen was actually so horrible I didn’t know food could be executed so poorly lol. A blind bat could have made a more authentic pork ramen! For starters, it tasted SO fishy and didn’t even have pork belly! The soft boil egg was very hard boiled, the soup was just water but somehow worse. I wouldn’t feed this ramen to my worst enemy! The eel hand role was just dunked in soy sauce. Like whatever. It gave me calories so it’s fine lol

This here is the Pork Tonkatsu Ramen.Just by looking at it I knew the broth was going to taste far from rich. The broth was beyond watered down, had little to no flavor. Eggs are hard boiled when they should be soft boiled. Noodles were okay. Tonkatsu had a decent flavor at best. I still finished it because I hate wasting food. But this was hands down the worst ramen I’ve ever had.

After reading the reviews and asking a few patrons, I skipped the ramen for some special sushi rolls. The rainbow roll and the crunchy shrimp rolls were very, very good compared to standard expected airport sushi quality. You can taste the smokiness of the shrimp on that roll (likely torched, suggests it was handled with care rather than repackaged ready made sushi rolls). Prices are generally 20% more expensive than your average sushi joint.

quite good vegetarian miso ramen for airport standards. I did pay extra for mushrooms, which they forgot to add, but honestly, I’m not going to argue over a few cents. Overall, it was a satisfying meal before a flight.

Sadly it was the worse ramen I’ve had. Three noodles all clumped together and were gummy, and the broth was lukewarm. Sushi and poke were just ok. The servers were very very nice and helpful though. Remade my order with no fuss.

After discovering that "Surf" no longer serves sushi, I went to the global bazaar. In the center, there was a bar/counter place called Kaedama which DOES serve sushi. Overall, I had a positive experience. The food came out faster than my tea. It was also interesting that the edamame came in a bowl with the saran wrap still attached. This is great for keeping it hot, but it was also clear that no salt/topping were added. The tuna bowl was very good. I only wish I had a little soy sauce to coat the sashimi... Atmosphere was also interesting. I got to hear some conversations between employees on why someone was fired.

Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, the servers are attentive, and the food was delicious. The portion sizes are huge. To note: Anyone can sit at the barstools (not just customers of the ramen bar) and they often bring other food. This is not proper etiquette. Also, the prices are expensive and the wait for our ramen bowls was long. Overall score: B+

Was wonderfully surprised by the quality of the food and service. The server was funny and really great with my 2 kids. He brought over the Elmo stuffy to entertain them while refreshing our drinks. The ramen was pretty good and filled with lots of extra noodles for the kids to share. Rolls were tasty as well. Great convenient location!

I ordered the pork ramen before a flight. Fortunately, I had plenty of time because it took 20 minutes to prepare. They were not busy. I think it sat for a while in the kitchen because the noodles were soggy by the time I had a chance to eat. I will say the staff is friendly and understands the importance of prompt service at the airport.

It took too long for the food to arrive. Taste was OK, not great but acceptable for airport food. I made a mental note that I won't come back during my next transit at EWR.

Food is alright for airport food. After coming from Portugal where Asian food isn't great, this tasted fine lol. Yeah, the to katsu broth could be deeper, the egg could be soft boiled, etc. but it satisfied our cravings at least. I actually liked that it wasn't too salty. The main issue was the wait - it took about 30 minutes to get our ramen and an extra 10 minutes after to get our sushi. I wish there was a note that said it would take awhile as we almost missed our boarding for our flight. In addition, it was about $20 for a bowl which is way too expensive, but alas it's the airport.

AVOID! I had the shoyu ramen. It was the worst ramen I've ever had, and several hours later it gave me diarrhea.

Lou for mayor! We were relieved to find a seat at the ramen bar and get some very good nigiri, nice quality noodles (ordered udon and ramen) and a true standout- the kindness of the staff. From the folks that gave us water, ran the food out to us, and later Lou who handled our needy requests for our baby- were all outstanding. After the nightmare customer service of checking in it was a welcome change to be treated so well before boarding our flight. Will be stopping there again!

The lady working literally yelled at me for sitting down and taking too long with the menu when there was no one else around. Absolutely rude. I left. Horrible experience. Especially when traveling.

Wish I can give a lower rating than one, waited over 40 minutes and food never arrived, servers promised after 10 minutes and then kept on ignoring us. I requested a refund and we'll have to see

The service was great here. The waiter filled up my water bottle and even gave me ice and a lemon! I can't say I've had the food but the friendly service itself was worth the review!

Ordered my ramen at 4:28pm. Got lukewarm broth & spongy noodles at 5:03pm. Gate for my flight opens at 5:10. Never heard of 30 minute ramen ever. HORRIBLE.

Taste & Price doesn't equate. Food came after 30mins of ordering so be ready to wait. It wasn't even busy. Service was poor. All in all will not eat here again & don't recommend this. It is just plain expensive.

The service was impeccable. After navigating a not so difficult app to order, the food came up quickly. It was nice to be able to sit at the bar and have a beer while waiting for the food. I had a shrimp tempura roll that was excellent! The edamame was good but was lacking salt. This place sits in the middle of the food court so ambiance is a bit lacking, but it is the airport. I didn't expect white glove service. The server who brought up the food was attentive and friendly.

If only I could give zero stars. I already don't appreciate the ordering style (scan a code, web page opens, expects you to enter pay info and tip before placing order) but I had a question about a food dish. The bartender was engaged chatting with airport staff sitting at the bar rather than checking on guests. Never got to ask her a question. I eventually placed an order for a drink, but it wasn't served promptly nor was I acknowledged. I had to leave the seat and look for the bartender who wasn't too interested in working. Had to get help to get a refund to be delivered in 5-7 days. Unfortunately, the terminal B has this ordering style throughout. The service isn't always terrible though.

I've been a few times and this place goes through phases. It's in the middle of the global market in terminal C which I like because it's in the middle of the action. If you're looking for a quiet spot this probably isn't for you. The service is hit or miss but it's an airport so I feel like that's expected. So the food - it's an airport so it's overpriced haha if you can just accept that fact you'll be good. I've had the California roll and Tuna/avocado rolls. They are average and come in a prepackaged box. Im not sure if that was a covid change because prior to covid they came on a plate. I've never had the ramen.

If you are in the Newark Airport, you are going to pay exhorbitant prices for everything you eat or drink. Kaedama is no exception. It is an order-by-phone restaurant with virtually no opportunity to customize anything with what you order (you get 15 characters to express yourself, so if you have an allergy, have fun suffering through the ill effects). I ordered a ramen bowl, and it was the epotime of "meh". The egg was a complete hard boil, which made it off-putting. The nori was excessively heavy-handed (it was almost 1:1 for nori to noodle). And the flavor just wasn't there. I also find it annoying -- though I get that this is the new trend -- to request a 25% tip when there is not an actual server. Bring me something as simple as a glass of water and I will consider something basic, but when I can't even get water unless I buy a $78 dollar bottle of off-the-shelf water, there is no reason for me to think that a great-service-level tip is warranted. It is hard enough for me to do 18% for someone who literally set down a bowl covered in cling wrap where my entire interaction was the delivery person saying "Here" and walking away.

After we had a below average experience at a restaurant in the terminal I, we decided to come to the Ramen bar and have some cocktails. My fiancé ordered the espresso martini, which is one of the most basic drinks to make and it's unfortunately after two times, it was too sweet and overpowered with liquor. We asked the bartender to remake it but the same results even though we did not like the drink, they were nice enough to make us an old fashion which was good. Aside from the negative points I want to point out the positive which was our bartender, Alexandra was a very sweet and very attentive, she was honest that it was her first time making a drink, but promised to try and make it better for us and we appreciate the effort and a good customer service. My only feedback is to have a little bit more training from management to set up your employees for success.

Well... The ramen cost around $20 You can order through the app but the notification is bad. So they won't tell you roughly how long the waiting is. It's Christmas holiday so the staff is running shortage. They are quite occupied. So so there was 15-20 mins until the ramen is served. I have to say the staff is nice very friendly. But the ramen looks like microwave food although it was served hot. The taste was ok, noddles ran too soft. But its definitely not worthy $20.

Lou is the man! It's been a while since I've been to a restaurant and felt the staff was so genuinely nice and personable. Hats off to him and his dedication. He truly loves his job and his customers. Come visit him if you get a chance. I know this is an airport sushi and ramen restaurant, but he's been here 8 years and It's a worth it

This place is definitely underrated simply because it's airport eats. I was checking Yelp and was weary of coming here because it was rated under 3 stars, but pretty much everything in this terminal is. We needed to eat something and ramen sounded good so we sat down and ordered a bowl on the iPad at the counter. We weren't starving and the ramen was expensive so we split one which ended up being perfect. The depth of flavor was way better than expected for an airport counter and the chicken was great. We also ordered an unsweet iced tea which was better and stronger than I get at most restaurants. It did take a while for the ramen to come out which needs to be improved when people are catching flights, but we were early so it was okay.

We came to eat sushi and ramen after our flight from DFW. Ana Served us amazingly. Her attention to detail and polite demeanor was amazing to have after our flight. The bar was relaxed and a great place to get off our feet. If you have a layover come to terminal C and see Ana!

I love this restaurant. The food is outstanding and the service is top notch' I get the Ramon the pork belly just melts in your mouth. Although it's in the airport it gives you classy dining!

Excellent service Had the vegetarian miso Ramen and was was Koller. Really fresh and tasty ingredients. Will most likely eat here again when I fly back home.

For an airport, I really enjoyed my noodles! A healthy dose of electrolytes right before my next flight was perfect. Of course, in other circumstances, this is totally not a justified $20 meal, but compared to the undercooked pizza my husband ordered, heck yes, win. The egg wasn't runny and the noodles were meh, but I'll give them credit on the pork belly since that had decent flavor and was not the rubber mess that I expected. I'd recommend the stop given the other Asian place I passed that served Ramen per menu did not actually have it.

Ordered my food about 40 minutes ago and still sitting waiting for my meal. My plane boards in 10 minutes and unfortunately I've wasted money on a meal I won't be able to take my time to enjoy.

Tip: Close out the tab before leaving. Also, they add tip to your bill automatically. Really good airplane food! I got the Tonkatsu Ramen and San Pan. The broth was spot on, the bowl was pretty big and it was all around a very good meal! Definitely on the pricey side. 19$ for the Tonkatsu Ramen 7$ for the San Pan I was close to ordering the 10$ tuna and cucumber sushi which would have been a nice combo.

Only ate here out of convenience during my layover at the airport. Honestly, there's several much better options in the same food court. For the price and quality , it's just not worth the time and calories. I had to scavenge for my own utensils when the food arrived. The noodles were severely over cooked to mush. The broth had no flavor and you could tell they just used a ton of sodium to compensate for it. Pork belly was paper thin slices and skimpy. Save yourself the experience.

Okay food, overpriced, poor service. They are a part of a group of restaurants in the international food court area at Newark airport Terminal C. I chose this Japanese place, sat down at a table and ordered a ramen soup and edamame. Self service ordering through a kiosk. 15 mins after the order, there was no response from the servers. Upon asking, they tell me orders take 30 mins to come. Ridiculous and wish they had put this critical info upfront before taking my order. Upon insisting my flight is about to leave, they rush through and get the ramen noodles first. However, it is bland and too watery. She forget the edamame. After reminding twice, the edamame comes- as expected, small portion microwaved in a box. Paid $35 for this not so great meal, the poor service and nearly missed my flight. Best to avoid unless you have hours to kill at the airport.

Airport food. Ramen is, well, better than expected for airport ramen, with actually decent char shu. But for airport food, it's also slow. Something like or 25 minutes to getting ramen, which seemed just a few minutes too slow to be reasonable for an airport. Did not touch the sushi, which looked a bit pricey for airport-quality sushi. I mean, decent sushi at an airport is possible, but Kaedama didn't seem like one of those places.

Decent place to have ramen or sushi, inside Newark Liberty International Airport, while waiting for your next flight. Service is not great, and you have to tip upfront. Took forever to get our drinks, we were half way through our meal by the time they arrived. Ramen quality and taste was very good but pricey; $18.95 but for a very large bowl. The noodles were cooked right, the pork belly was very good and the pickled egg was nearly perfect. If the prices were lower and the service quicker/more attentive, this would definitely be a 4-5 stars experience. I would eat here again.

For airport ramen this place was decent enough! I ordered a glass of French rosé at $19 which is what you'd expect for a glass of wine plus airport markup, and it was mellow sweet and medium bodied as described. I started with an Atlantic salmon nigiri which tasted fresh and served with a reasonable amount of side ginger and wasabi that I actually used. The ramen itself is typically less elaborate than most brick and mortars but there was a surprising amount of ramen noodles, which came with enough scallions to include a few fragrant morsels with each bite. The pork was also tender in texture and not over cooked. The broth wasn't overly salty and made for a great finisher. The seating itself is situated in a food court at Newark which allowed for fun people watching while slurping your soup. I found it to be an excellent layover meal experience and recommend this to anyone with an hour to spare between flights.

The ramen was really really bad, awful, like the noodles were like soggy soft spaghetti. Egg and other ingredients were totally fine (but not a soft boiled egg) and the pork actually tasty. The tonkotsu broth was weak but not as bad as my partner's flavorless shiyo. Both were carted over from somewhere else, probably sitting around cooling for half an hour. Don't order if you're in a rush because it takes a while, isn't in a to-go container, and also cuz it's pretty bad. Maybe the sandwiches conspicuously missing prices at the shop across the way would have been better. Anyway, shame on me for my lack of imagination that ramen at an airport could be so bad. I couldnt eat the noodles :(

Our flight got delayed and after a vacation of alcohol and holiday food/fast food, ramen sounded and looked like a good idea. The place was centered around a bar in the middle of the food mecca. Self-order with an iPad. Super easy and the waitress was quick to give us water. Cappuccino took about 10min Chicken ramen x2 took about 20 min I wish we had looked at the reviews for this place before ordering. It looked like a trendy spot with good tasting ramen. Granted, I am spoiled with living in CA, visiting places like NY and Japan for ramen so I was majorly disappointed when I had my first bite. Chicken ramen tasted like chicken broth with ramen noodles added. Salty, and no umami. I'm sure the noodles are not made fresh. There's nothing to add for umami like green onions, garlic, sesame oil, chili powder. Recipe needs work. I know ramen broth takes hours to make, this seems like it's from a can. While it wasn't the best ramen, still edible. I think you could find better options in the food court tho. 2 stars because our server was nice and ordering and paying was made easy with that iPad.

This is the worst ramen I've ever had. I placed my order at 3:20, didn't get it until 4pm. They have to wheel the food in from a kitchen elsewhere. The ramen was so cold, the broth had no flavor at all, the egg was supposed to be soft boiled ended up being hard. Service was really dismal as well. Not a friendly face or anyone to come by to provide silverware. If you want a reason to miss your flight come here. I'm so annoyed that I spent $62 on this place.

I was really looking forward to a delicious, warm bowl of ramen after a long day of traveling (with more traveling to go). This was the most bland (read: booorriing) bowl of Ramen I've ever had. Plus it took awhile so luckily I had some time to kill. Although the atmosphere and people watching may tempt you, save your money and go elsewhere!

I'm really surprised by this establishment's low rating because I had a great experience. I ordered the Vegan Miso Ramen which was delicious and flavorful...and not just by airport food standards! I received great service as well. The two gentlemen who were working were both helpful and attentive. It's two thumbs up from me!

No matter what time of day it is it's great to go somewhere and be able to get some Ramen New Jersey has this really interesting concept way ahead of anything else I've ever seen any other airport everywhere you look there's an iPad you come up to the counter waitress comes around and shows you how to order things and punching your order in takes less than two seconds sliding your card starts the ticket pronto and your order is off!!! Aside from having two of the coolest people I've ever met in an airport restaurant?where every post in a bar that actually wraps around in a circle because that's the actual shape inside the restaurant it's not necessarily a circle but the bar wraps the inner part and it gave me some of the nicest honest people here but the food didn't even take five minutes and place my order and I had it in five minutes five minutes and delicious.. I love my East Coast Americans in this place has New York honesty New Jersey speed at all American flavor!!

Newark really has a nice setup with their "Global Bazaar" food court area! Seems like they have something for everyone. While I had a hard time choosing what meal I would partake in, before the flight back to Charlotte, I decided ramen would hit the spot. Simple bar concept with iPad ordering. YAY. Easy. While the choices of ramen were a plenty, I decided to go with the pork & shrimp wanton ramen. I didn't wait long - maybe 6-7 minutes, & my steaming bowl of ramen was in front of me. My picture doesn't do it justice. The pork was yummy, the broth was spicy, but nothing overpowering. The wantons were MMMMM! I didn't want my meal to end. Staff were friendly, but again, didn't really need them, since everything was done via iPad. They did serve the water & checked on me several times. Prices are pricey ... but it's the airport. I loved my ramen & would pay the $17 to enjoy it again.

this food is BLAND and disgusting. It almost seems like they took the ramen from an instant ramen package but even that tastes better than this "food". PLEASE do not go here. eat anywhere else but here. airport food is already expensive enough, go somewhere halfway decent.

If you want good noodles don't expect to get it at this place tho didn't expect much for airport food. Service slow. They want to tell you if it's busy noodles may take up to 30-45 minutes lol. As if theyre making actual noodles. Got the tonkatsu. Bland noodles ok broth needs salt but if you come here expect slow service sub par food

We tried to order using the ipad and the system was very very slow.... tried to enter info 5x and the Server was nowhere, only to find out this guy was hiding playing a mobile game with a negative attitude- do not disturb me vibe. Horrible service. We asked for a manager and she tried to help us. but no joy.
