"Many lunchtime missions on Orcas involve sunny patios, but in turn, they also involve the resident yellow jackets who can’t take a hint. Escape them at Kainan, a family-run Filipino counter located inside the commissary kitchen at Odd Fellows Hall. Sure, the dining room isn’t much, but it’s exciting to watch the chefs work a wok while sizzles pierce the silence. Share platters of pancit canton, braised chicken and kabocha squash swimming in yellow curry, and crackly lumpia that retains heat better than a curling iron.
