For a Filipino lunch on Orcas, Kainan works well - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Many lunchtime missions on Orcas involve sunny patios, but in turn, they also involve the resident yellow jackets who can’t take a hint. Escape them at Kainan, a family-run Filipino counter located inside the commissary kitchen at Odd Fellows Hall. Sure, the dining room isn’t much, but it’s exciting to watch the chefs work a wok while sizzles pierce the silence. Share platters of pancit canton, braised chicken and kabocha squash swimming in yellow curry, and crackly lumpia that retains heat better than a curling iron. If a bee ends up sneaking in, we don’t blame them. Food Rundown Pancit Canton Provided you slosh in a packet of soy sauce, these egg noodles make for a wonderful lunch. It’s loaded with tasty BBQ pork and crisp vegetables—and yields approximately two and a half meals. photo credit: Makena Yee Lumpia The pork filling could use more flavor, but we love the crunch here. Sweet chili, you know what to do. photo credit: Makena Yee Chicken Coconut Curry Each piece of chicken is lovingly braised, which is a nice departure from the stiff strips found elsewhere. And along with kabocha squash and snappy green beans, they do a great job soaking up mustard-yellow curry. The owners recommend adding some salt, and so do we." - Aimee Rizzo

Surprise treat in Eastsound. Two Filipina cooks are making delicious fresh Asian food in the bottom floor of the Oddfelows lodge. Take your food outside and enjoy a beautiful view of the water!l. It’s only open for lunch on Wednesday and Thursday so plan accordingly.

The food was really good, I had the special with ribs and rice noodles with veggies. The ribs had great flavor and the veggies were cooked well with still a crisp to them. I also had an order of Lumpia made with pork and veggies, they were also really good. Everything tasted fresh and wasn’t too heavy. Plenty of options on the menu to choose from, definitely worth a try

Everytime we come here they are "gone for the week".. maybe keep your business open so ppl can see how your food is. Last place had bad food but at least they were open.

I was so happy to see this place! I didn’t realize there is a Filipino restaurant on orcas island! The food is so good and the ladies here are so friendly and nice! If you’re looking for great food on east sound on orcas island, I highly recommend you check them out. They are on the way to the dock - quite hidden but they have the signs out where you can see them on the days that they are open. I think only 2 days a week? Today, the sign says Wed and Thurs 11am - 4pm.

This place is so wonderful- the food is incredible and the lady who runs it is an absolute sweetheart. I personally love the chicken coconut curry combo but everything I've tried is delicious- flavorful, meat is ridiculously tender, lumpia are so good. They're in the bottom floor of Oddfellow's hall for takeout on Wednesdays and Thursdays midday and always have a little spot at the Saturday market. Best place to get food on orcas when it's open!

Yelp
You better look close for this little gem of Filipino food dish! Thru a door in the side of a non marked building, down a small hall way and like you walked into the home kitchen! I will get some more pictures....literally cooked in front of you! All fresh out the fridge to stove! 2 small tables, but mainly cooked to go!if you like fresh cooked food and great people, FIND THIS PLACE! Will be going back for more food and more pictures!......

Yelp
Just like mom used to cook! The amazing food and the wonderful ladies were a joy. Can't go wrong with the pancit and the lumpia. Thank you Auntie Michelle and Loretta! See you again soon...
