Another Conveyor Belt Sushi Spot Opens in New York - Eater NY

"A new conveyor-belt sushi restaurant has arrived in New York. Kaiten Zushi Nomad is opening at 276 Fifth Avenue, at East 30th Street, with tablet ordering and robot delivery. The 5000 square-foot space will allegedly offer 100 kinds of sushi and other dishes, an experience Manhattan has missed since Mars 2112 closed." - Melissa McCart

I just wanted to see what the fuss is all about. People have tried it and loved it. Have to see for myself. Went there on the 4th of July for lunch. I was the first one there with my family. We were quickly seated, and like any other conveyor belt sushi places in Japan, you order from a tablet provided. I was very disappointed that Sashimi was not on the menu. Choices were limited. You get the basic fish only like salmon, tuna, squid etc. No Uni,Toro or Ikura, and so on. The ramen was not to my expectation. I would expect better from a restaurant in Manhattan. The other thing I want to point out is no matcha!!!! Anyway, the price was $49.99 per person, which was a bit steep, being the limited choice on the sushi.

I'm really happy that I stopped in this place . Actually, I was just walking by and wanted to try. The reviews were good, and I understand why. So Saturday evening, no waiting . This place has two menus. One is $50 for all you can eat. The second menu is a la carte, but I can say the price is very conservative. Anyway, the atmosphere was pretty empty, but maybe this place is concerned about food. The food is just amazing, everything is fresh and great. The service I like too. So I will definitely stop by next time.

DO NOT GO HERE. Not worth it. The food was absolutely disgusting. There was not a single item I enjoyed which is disappointing considering the $50 charge per person. I left feeling sick to my stomach because the fish was not fresh, tempura overly oily, and salad that looked like vomit. The only reason you will see 5 star reviews is because they offer a free soda with a good review. I don’t know how anyone could find their food actually tasty. The experience with the conveyer belt was also underwhelming and did not justify the price whatsoever.

Kaiten Zushi I really liked! I like how the sushi comes out in a conveyor belt and you’re able to try various different dishes costing around $4-$7 each! The sushi also came out very fast, I ordered on the iPad and it came out in a couple of minutes. I was able to also change my order when I told the waiters that I wanted to change it. The customer service was really great! Keep in mind that this is the only conveyor sushi belt in Manhattan. The place was also spacious and huge with a modern ambience to it. I really liked the miso soup, the octopus roll, and tuna roll! The French fries were also really good! The sushi was tasty and very fresh. I liked how you were able to try various different dishes for an affordable price of around $15-$25. I liked how you were able to mix and match. Price: $15-$25💸 Rating: 8/10 📝

Below average sushi. Not worth the money. I got the AYCE option on weekend ($50 pp). Their nigiris options were limited but had more rice than fish. Not one was truly deliciously even though I was really hungry. Best piece was probably salmon toro or Negitoro. I would rate the nigiris 2/5 compared to other kaitenzushi in the US. Their best stuff is actually the cooked food (“sides”). The tempura was crispy and clean. Miso soup was good. Hand rolls were decent. I would rate these 4/5. There were very few ppl at 2pm when I ate, and things came out quickly. Definitely possible to eat your a lot, I just don’t know if it was worth.

To be honest I was so excited to eat there. But to be the only “conveyor belt “ sushi restaurant in the city was really disappointed ! The AYCE lunch menu was very limited & the sushi so basic ($32.99 pp/ 90 min ) we just stayed for half and hour. The electronic menu was ok but could be better add some items descriptions. The experience doesn’t worth the money and the atmosphere doesn’t feel welcoming. The host was so kind but what really made us feel a little uncomfortable was the check out moment, when they ask you for the % of the tip you want to leave but we barely saw our waitress, we just had contact with her when she dropped the bill🤔. Not coming back.

I recently visited Kaiten Zushi, a conveyor belt sushi spot. The experience was enjoyable, and the sushi was generally good. The fish was fresh, and the selection was fairly standard. While it didn't blow me away, it was a perfectly acceptable meal and the conveyor belt kept things interesting. The atmosphere is casual and lively, making it a good spot for a relaxed meal. If you're looking for good, reliable sushi without any major frills, this place will do.

Nice big space and very clean. Feels a bit expensive for what it is, but overall I was pleased. Sushi was good and fresh and conveyor was quiet and efficient. Think it's worth doing the AYCE option for whatever meal. Since when I went for a la carte, it was basically the same price as the AYCE option -- which was frustrating. So I'll be going back for the AYCE option next time.
