"On the fifth floor of the Kitte shopping complex in Marunouchi, this kaiten-zushi spot is a buzzing hive of chefs slapping plates of nigiri on constantly revolving conveyor belts and servers whizzing from table to table in a massive dining space. It's all bright lights and fast action, and invariably slammed at lunch and dinner time." - Melinda Joe

Had a great experience here with co workers. There was about a 15 minute wait around 5:30 PM. We got seated at the counter and ordered food immediately. There is a little sheet of paper where you write down the number of the food you want with quantity and they will hand you your order if it is not on the belt. You get complimentary green tea and hot water at your counter. There are also random specials called out during the service and they will show you. If you want it just ask! A simple Sumimasen and the wonderful staff will take your piece of paper and you will get your food shortly. Super fresh fish and a wonderful ambiance. Highly recommend.

I arrived at 11:15 AM, just 15 minutes after the restaurant opened, and there were already 37 queues ahead of me. Although the wait was around 1.5 hours, I could walk around Tokyo station and come back to line up when my turn was near. Food was delicious and very fresh, the staff was friendly, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality. Definitely worth the wait!

Google
Awful. Some of the fish was ok though tuna and salmon were absolutely appalling, the selection was limited, and the wait was looooooong. Worse, though, this isn’t really a keiten-sushi place - you order from a dude behind the counter and the food is delivered to him from a kitchen, and then on to you. Which means the food should be far better than it is. So the food’s mediocre, the atmosphere is pretty rubbish, and it’s not cheap for the quality. So why - as no. 1 in Tokyo on Tabelog - all the love? I honestly have no idea. Edited to add: lowering from two to one star as, to add insult to injury, my wife was violently ill when we returned home after the meal. Avoid.

Google
They have English menu & you can order from a sheet written with the dish number & the servings you wanna order. Also can choose to include wasabi in your sushi or not on the sheet. So no need to worry the communicating difficulties😆 They don't do reservations, so definitely come in advanced as the queue gets quite long. We took the ticket then head to shopping in Tokyo station & came back after 1.5hrs then waited around 15mins to be seated. They also served dishes that weren't on the menu & they will bring around different tables to ask if you would like a plate. If you asked me if it's worth to come again, I would say I would prefer elsewhere rather waiting for 2 hours for sushi. Food was great but just wait time took too much time.

Got here around 12:30pm on a weekday afternoon and there were already 55 groups ahead of us!!! We took a number and started to wait. The number they give you has a QR code that you can scan with your phone and see when your turn is coming up. Very helpful! We looked around the shopping mall and sat down in a cafe to wait for our turn. It went much quicker than expected. About 75 minutes later it was our turn and we were about to get into the restaurant. If you are more than 15 minutes late then they assume you have cancelled your place in line. We were seated at a booth, which was very comfortable and spacious. There are very few varieties available on the conveyor belt. Much of the sushi is ordered using the menu and order form found at the table. You have to write down the plate number, quantity, and whether or not you want wasabi. Make sure to decide quickly and give the staff your order because it sometimes takes a while. The sushi was extremely delicious and very fresh! Also the price is very reasonable for what you are getting. We ordered mostly just the expensive plates and our bill was less than ¥8,000. The taste and quantity was much better than a lot of upscale sushi restaurants.

Came here at around 11.30 but surprised to find that you already had to queue. If you use Line, you can use that to monitor your queue number live and walk around. We wait for around 25min for another table of 2 (think we had around 20+ tables ahead of us) Sushi and sashimi were fresh as expected. Process wise you have to order through paper slips at your table that refers to your table number. Before payment, they will have to come and count the plates. It is a typical sushi conveyor belt restaurant (I wouldn’t compare it with Sushiro) but decent quality. I would come back again if I happen to be nearby for a reliable sushi restaurant.

Google
Sushi dishes are very fresh. Recommend Premium Tuna, Scallops and Prawn sushi. Owing to the shop is so popular, customers should prepare to wait for at least an hour for seats.

Google
The queue starts before the store is opened, but still recommended to go early as you would be seated immediately when it opens. They put fake sushi on the conveyor belt which is a great idea, and you can place order using paper easily. Highly recommended to check out their daily recommended special, as you would get to try something unique. The sushi quality is really good with reasonable price, and they serve the sushi very quickly as well, definitely a very enjoyable conveyor belt sushi restaurant.

Yelp
A fantastic sushi evolving a bar. One of the best I've been to in my travels. The sushi was fresh and thick cut. The sushi rice was perfect temperature and made properly. All the prices were very fair. I enjoy the salmon which I usually not eat, and the tuna options were really good. They even have cold udon and a wide range of drinks. The service was great and attentive. You get free tea at the table. Oh a very nice experience and highly recommend

Yelp
got love american yelpers posting reviews. it helps a lot. the wait was spot on. an hour. but with the system they use. no need to stay. go walk around a huge mall with a lot of small shops. and of course spend some yen. the sushi is good. very helpful staff. love the conveyor belt. very cool place to eat at.

Yelp
High quality conveyor belt sushi that is loved amongst locals. Came before prime dinner around 5:30PM and there was already a waitlist for this spot. We waited around 40 minutes before we were seated. Everything is self serve, you have your matcha, tea, cups all in front of you. Sushi gets placed on the conveyor belt for you to grab, but most of our items we ordered through a sheet and handed it off to the chefs in front of us. This is a higher quality conveyor belt sushi spot compared to the $1 sushi spots you see on the streets. The quality definitely shows in their food. It's not the most amazing out there but it hits the spot for sure. Here's some of the highlights of things we got: - Ebi sushi - Negitoro - Ikura sushi - Chawanmushi - Tamago - Crab soup - Scallop sushi - Toro sushi A spot to hit up if you're looking for better quality conveyor belt sushi!

Alex L.

Yelp
High quality sushi, fast and friendly service, conveyer belt gimmick is fun (though you don't want to use it for the most part - order the sushi from staff). Chill place if you want to just eat sushi and relax. Pretty affordable too. Very long wait (upward of an hour), but worth it. Also worth checking out the hot/meat dishes - surprisingly good for a sushi place!

Yelp
This restaurant completely changed how I thought about conveyor belt sushi, or kaitenzushi. Situated at the top level of the KITTE Marunouchi shopping center, Nemuro Hanamaru is easy to spot by the constant lines of people waiting for a seat at the spotless counters in front of the ebullient staff (TIP: use the LINE app so you can browse around the mall and just wait for a msg telling you your seats are almost ready!). Once you start ordering, you may, like me, become overwhelmed by the feeling that if you ever woke up from a coma, this is the type of place you would want to come eat at first: the bright but soothing energy, the thrum of the music and diners and staff, the softly-rounded pink, green, and blue plates and blonde wood panels... and some of the freshest, most mouth-watering sushi you've ever had for the price. When I left the restaurant and happened to look at my check, I doubled over laughing in disbelief. How can sushi this good be this affordable? As an American, I've been conditioned to believe that sushi had to be expensive to even be passable. Cheap sushi was bad or unauthentic, to be eaten in dark restaurants decorated with neon blue lights, at sticky black tables with black tableware - all seemingly meant to evoke some exotic hedonism - along with tiny bits of iceberg lettuce with thousand island, heaps of spicy tuna and teriyaki chicken or bulgogi and kalbi. Nemuro Hanamaru is the exact opposite of that. If you're visiting Tokyo and happen to be in the Marunouchi area, fire up your LINE, get a number, and enjoy. If you've made it this far, you've earned it.

Yelp
Great conveyor belt sushi close by Tokyo Station! You pay by the plate and the plates are color coded by price. You can pick up plates directly off the conveyor as they pass by or order anything missing straight from the servers. There are also special menu items that are a little more expensive based on the season, like crab miso soup. We got there at about 430p and short 5 min wait. When we left at 515 there was a bit of a crowd built up; and there are two lines one for front row and the other for second row, which I assume is for the row of tables not with the conveyors. With the exchange rate two of us ate about 5000 yet (lots of premium items) so about $34. Hot water is available with a faucet on table, with green tea powder to taste

Yelp
Expect long waits for this classic Conveyor Belt sushi restaurant -- upwards of an hour during peak times! However, it is worth every minute of the wait. the triangular seven-storey mall in which this restaurant is situated allows for slow grazing and window shopping while you wait. Once your number is called, you will be seated at the bar, like all patrons and will be allowed to select any plate that passes you by. Note that there are four (4) tiers of plates depending on the items plated, ranging from approximately ¥180 to ¥600 per plate. The staff is warm and welcoming and efficient, to say the least. This cozy restaurant gives Sunday dinner vibes with strangers and offers free green tea (also on lower conveyor belt). Additional items may be ordered directly with server who is posted up within the bar. Can't wait to come back here again soon!

Yelp
Solid sushi can't complain Careful their wasabi ain't tame I usually like salmon but found something better It's the tuna that I would like to write this love letter Tuna tuna you're so fine You taste so good please be mine The restaurant has a tablet you can order from (can switch to English) and not only that but they also give you a hot water dispenser and green tea. I didn't realize this but it goes so well with sushi, even more than the beer I had. They have a sushi boat device they use to shuttle around packaged wasabi but other tables use it to get their sushi order. I really like this place. Will come again.

Vanessa S.

Yelp
Your typical conveyor belt sushi ambiance but that is apparently super popular and if you don't get here early to queue up with the other early birds you will absolutely wait an hour to join the second wave. Food though was great, and a la carte is the way to go, and it's only a short walk from Tokyo Station.

Yelp
Super affordable kaitenzushi place with an interesting selection. Nemuro Hanamaru is a chain from Hokkaido, so they fly in a lot of their seafood fresh from Hokkaido (or so I read online). They offer some sushi here that are typically eaten only in Hokkaido, which is why I was especially interested in trying them out. There are two locations of Nemuro Hanamaru in Tokyo. One is a standing only spot in the basement of a department store in Ginza. We accidentally went there first before realizing the location we wanted with seating is located near Tokyo Station, in the Kitte Marunouchi Building. Make sure you're routing to the correct one! We were trying to make it here before opening at 11 am and failed miserably. We got here a little after noon instead and grabbed a number. Luckily there's a QR code on your ticket that you can scan and keep track of your place in line, so we walked away and killed some time nearby before it was about time to come back. We were finally seated around 1:30 pm. They're a very tourist-friendly spot, with instructions in English as well as an English menu with lots of photos. To order, you can write your desired items down on the form and hand it to one of the servers. Some of our favorites were: double decker scallop, minced fatty salmon with quail egg yolk, crab + crab miso, crab soup (it's a huge bowl that can be shared between 2-3 people). But pretty much you can't go wrong with anything. We ate a lot and only spent 2500 yen pp, which is such a steal in my books!!

Karlie S.

Yelp
Hell yes to sushi that will blow your mind! Get in line before opening and we still couldn't get seated in the first round - the inside is small! Luckily we got seated in the second round which was 45 mins after its opening and we just left to go shopping in the mall. You can keep an eye on the queue by checking the QR code on your waiting slip. Sushi was amazing and we loved all the ones we tried. Grilled salmon belly, fin and grouper were a must. The crab miso soup was good and came in a huge, huge bowl - you can easily share that among three people. Service was great and the chefs were fun and lively. We even raised our hand to get one of their freshly made sushi!

Yelp
Our first proper sit down meal in Japan was at this kaiten (conveyor belt) sushi restaurant, Nemuro Hanamaru located in the Marunouchi KITTE building. We waited over 2 hours to get a table at this restaurant but it was well worth the wait. For starters, they have this neat system in place where you get a QR code and using that QR code, you can periodically check on your status in the line. This means that you don't have to actually stand there, waiting for 2 hours. We were free to go off to other places. Instead of standing around, doing nothing for 2 hours we went and took a stroll through Tokyo Station. We spent a good amount of time familiarizing ourselves with the area as we had some upcoming trips planned which would require going through Tokyo Station. When we were done with that, we came back to the KITTE Marunouchi building and enjoyed some lovely Xmas tunes being sung by a choir on the ground level. So, waiting for our table at Nemuro Hanamaru really wasn't at all painful even though it took over 2 hours to get a table. When we finally got to sit down and start eating...wow, what a feast! Wish we could have a restaurant like this back home. The food was so fresh and there were all sorts of offerings that we would never get back home, even if we did have a conveyor belt sushi restaurant back home. I think the Negitoro was my favourite but even simple dishes like Zaru Soba were very enjoyable. My only regret...that I didn't leave room in my tummy to try things like Basque Cheesecake or Salted Caramel Pudding! We wanted to try more than one conveyor belt sushi restaurant on this trip, but in the end this was the only one we managed to try. Glad we made it to this one though as the quality at this restaurant was much higher than any other conveyor belt sushi we would have probably gone on to try. If you make it out to the Tokyo Station area, this is an excellent conveyor belt sushi restaurant. Highly recommend this place!

Marisol B.

Yelp
When in Japan. Come here absolutely ridiculously good. Take your turn in the front and enter your email to get notifications for your turn. Go shopping and comeback to melt in your mouth sushi.

Albert S.

Yelp
Have to wait 1 hr in line and I went there at 10:30am to line up as there were a lot of people a head of me. Sushi quality was good. Otoro, uni, hamachi, king crab miso, jumbo double layered scallop etc. all of them are really good.

Huan C.

Yelp
Get here early. Maybe you are lucky that you get in the first wave. Otherwise, be prepared to wait for 45 minutes - 1 hour. The sushi quality was good. The way to go about it is to order from the al la carte menu. It's located near the Tokyo station so if you happened to be here early and got a few hours. This is the place to eat at.

Rolly T.

Yelp
Saw the ratings and reviews on yelp. Decided to dinner here on our way back from Disney Sea since we stopped at Tokyo Station. It's located on the Kitte building top floor. We signed up on a computer screen and we were 40 people behind the people standing in front of restaurant. I sat my family by the bench and chairs by the elevators. Admired the dancing tree lights hanging. We only waited about one hour for a conveyer belt sushi. And I tell, it's worth it. You can pick any sushi in the conveyer belt as well as cups for hot tea. Don't make a mistake on using matcha tea for wasabi. You can order and write your orders- give to the chef. They will create it. The menu has English and pictures. The sushi is so fresh. The pricing is so much cheaper than most sushi places in vegas. Really worth the wait. But I heard if you go early - the wait is less. I would recommend this place to all my friends visiting Tokyo. Great service.

Yelp
Located on the 5th floor of the Kitte shopping mall, Nemuro Hanamaru is well-worth the long wait for cheap and delicious conveyor belt sushi. Once you make it to the 5th floor, you can easily spot the restaurant with the large number of people waiting outside. There's a reception machine where you can grab a ticket. We had to opt to wait outside the restaurant because we didn't have a Japanese phone number that could be called. On a Sunday late afternoon, we waited about 90-minutes before we were seated at the conveyor belt. Note: there is a table only portion of the restaurant. The staff is very nice with accommodating your request to sit at the conveyor belt if you tell them. Although, the sushi revolving on the conveyor belt looks enticing, I would recommend placing your order on the paper sheets (columns from left to right: sushi order #, quantity, wasabi- yes or no). There are English menus available with the sushi order numbers. We ate our fill of delicious sushi for our last meal in Japan and I loved every bite. I would suggest coming to Nemuro Hanamaru much before you're hungry and getting a ticket. Then you can walk around and explore for about 1-1.5 hours before heading back to the restaurant. The restaurant allows you a 60-minute grace period after your number is called to return and you will be seated at the next available spots.

Victor C.

Yelp
Delicious. Service is great. Fill the item number on the form to order by looking at the photos. The price is very affordable as Japanese yen is down.

Sean C.

Yelp
Excellent sushi. Toro highly recommended. Fast service. English menu. Takes credit cards. Efficient management of people waiting for seating. Good beer and sake. With the exchange rate when we were there (150 yen/ US dollar) it was a great deal. Less than half the price of the same meal in California. We went several times while in Tokyo.

Shirley T.

Yelp
Nemuro Hanamaru has been on my list ever since my Tokyo office moved to Kitte but the queues at lunch and dinner during workdays made it near impossible. Finally I tried again as I was on vacation and came at 5.30pm before the dinner crowd. The system has improved as they now give out queue ticket with estimated waiting time so you can come back later. We given seats at the counter and could could watch the sushi go by on the conveyor belt to pick what we want. The staff was also friendly and gave us English menu so we can order whatever we don't see on the belt. Every now and then, the chefs make a call for special sushi such as otoro, aburi salmon, big shrimps, hotate etc and you have to be quick to call for one as there're limited plates each time.

Mariko M.

Yelp
Hanamaru is a recent addition to the Tokyo area. This chain started in Hokkaido by someone who was in the fishing industry. There are two locations in Tokyo; since I was meeting someone at Tokyo Station, I decided to check out the KITTE Department location. As others here have mentioned, the line is massive! I waited for two hours; you read that right - two hours/120 minutes. The sushi was excellent though. They use very fresh and generous portions of fish. Prices vary from 130 to 400 yen so you get bang for your buck. You're not limited to what is on the roller; you can also order. Just grab the pen and paper at your table and write what you'd like. You can also indicate if you want wasabi or not. As per usual, you get amazing Japanese service. Although I enjoyed my experience, I'm torn as to whether I'll be back. Two hours is an abnormal amount of time to wait. Good for: sushi PS - There is an English menu. I'm not sure if the staff speak English, but I'm sure you can just point if need be.

Tom T.

Yelp
Over hyped and not worth the 2.5 hrs wait (and on a Monday). To be fair the sushi is cheap for the semi high quality ingredients, but nowhere close to memorible. I'd rather pay more for better sushi and much less wait, every single time.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Nemuro Hanamaru was recommended to me by a friend who was born and raised in Tokyo, so I knew it had to be good. When you're on vacation, time kind of blends together and you just kind of eat when you're hungry. Unfortunately, we were hungry at 7PM on a Saturday and got stuck in the dinner rush. About 45 minutes to an hour later, we were finally seated and starving! There's a ton of sushi on the conveyor belts, each one looked even more delicious than the previous. The only problem was that everything was naturally in Japanese, so it was like playing a guessing game with each dish. Our best bet was to order off of the menu. The first column is the item number, the second is how many you want, and the third indicated whether or not you want wasabi. Then you hand your completed form to the sushi chefs and wait in anticipation. We decided to go for it and had a few things that we recognized. The first nigiri--this delicate orange striped piece of salmon--brought a smile to both of our faces. This was going to be a good meal. Each piece of fish was so fresh, the rice was the perfect flavor and texture, and the wasabi added the just the right amount of heat. We ate a lot. Plate after plate, they stacked up high. I looked at those plates and imagined what the total might be, we easily thought $150 or more. When we called it quits, they tallied our total and told us to pay up front. Our meal came out to $65 USD. SIXTY-FIVE DOLLARS. My gawd. At that moment, we decided we had to come back again. And we did, with a third person, and our total was only $80--no tip. If I lived in Tokyo, I'd be here every single day. I miss this place already.

Yelp
The sushi here is *so* fresh and delicious! There are so many different varieties that it's difficult to keep from stuffing yourself; I was overly full but very happy. Our regulars (maguro, tobiko, ebi, ikura, sake, unagi, and inari) were terrific, as expected, but all the others we had were wonderful, too. I especially loved the grilled eggplant with miso sushi. The surf clam was also great. We had to have a couple of orders of each item and by that time, I was stuffed! They also offer fried chicken, noodles, desserts, and other items in case you don't want sushi. This "conveyor belt" restaurant offers great sushi at a reasonable price. Our bill came to about 4250 yen and we had 16 dishes plus green tea. Most dishes ran about 143 to 250 yen, with the most expensive, the surf clam, at about 465 yen; each order had 2 pieces. You can take the sushi from the conveyor belt or you can order whatever you want from the sushi chefs or other staff. If you special order, they'll make it and hand it to you. You make your own cup of green tea with the powdered matcha at your table. There's a hot water spigot at each table; I'm not sure how it is if you sit at the counter. You can also help yourself to as much pickled ginger as you want. I would suggest getting there before 11:00 a.m. There was a line of about 24 people waiting at the bottom of the escalator when we arrived; they didn't run the escalator until close to 11:00 when the shops and restaurants inside the Kitte building opened. Most of the people in line were also headed to Nemuro Hanamaru, but we were able to be seated during the first round. If you don't make it for the seating, there's a check-in machine to the right of the entrance; be sure you sign in to hold your spot!

Corina Q.

Yelp
Delicious kaiten-zushi for an amazing price! Located on the fifth floor of Kitte Shopping Mall. Our party of 11 waited about 40 minutes on a Monday at around 6:30pm, and got seated at two separate booths. Quality was amazing, generous fish portions, and very fresh for great prices, and service was very quick and speedy. There were many choices that you could choose from, by either taking it off the belt or ordering off a paper which you hand to the sushi chef.

Lise L.

Yelp
Amazing sushi and great atmosphere! If you're going for lunch, the line typically starts on the first floor near the escalator around 10:20am on weekdays and they'll start the escalator at 10:52am. The elevator will not take you to the other floors before the people in line have reached the top floor. The restaurant has instructions on how to eat, order and serve yourself in English and even though they're adding new dishes to the conveyer belt constantly, I recommend ordering sushi directly from the chefs. This is probably the best sushi I've ever had and we'll definitely come back next time we're in Tokyo!

Yelp
Hanamaru Kaiten-sushi根室花まる serves Conveyor Belt Sushi. Massive line up but it was a Public Holiday and I could not resist not trying because of all these awesome photos and unique offerings. We almost give up as we might be missing the reserved seats for our JR train. But I was glad that I got to experience this. You can either just get the sushi from the belt or order anything fresh. But if you are in a rush, I highly not recommend that option. Just grab what you see because sometimes I am not really sure what are names of those funky looking items... My Yelp friend loves the idea we can mix and serve our own matcha green tea from that hot water tap right at the sushi bar. And I just love how all these sushi just going round and round. The vibe here is friendly and energetic. No this is not a tourist trap as most of the patron here are locals and they think the conveyor belt sushi is a fun experience. Limited English but everyone is so friendly here. After having my sushi fix, we rushed back to our hotel and picked up our luggage and just made in on to our train. But I would have missed my train just to eat here. Maybe coming here on a weekday would be better?? The menu is massive with 2 piece sushi starting at 130 Yen.... and other daily specials (in Japanese only) BTW, I ate some Crab Intestine?

Nina I.

Yelp
We love this place and come back every time we are in Japan. (Also if you go to the terrace you will see an amazing view of Tokyo station.) The line is very very long in the evening but we've found the best time to visit has been after the lunch rush. We arrived around 1:30-2 for a late lunch and the line up was not bad. About 10 people. They have two sets of stations for line control. It's authentic, has a wide range of selection and is so delicious! The portions are quite nice as well! We love the seared fluke fin and get two plates at a time. The toro...and the various grades of it were amazing. Try anything that looks good to you. You're in for a treat. I also tried Shirako for the first time here...a delicacy in Japan. To save you from looking it up...its fish semen!! (But do look it up it's quite funny.) When I asked what part of the fish it was from, in Japanese, the sushi chefs said they didn't know- more like they didn't want to tell me...at the time. Ehem...definitely an adventure. But not sure I will try that again. You can have a fun experience at the conveyer sushi sitting at the bar seeing what everyone is taking. Or the side booths in the main area for a cozy experience. These side booths are the best with a small child. In these areas you can write your order and hand it to a waitress or you can special request to the sushi chefs in the middle to make something fresh. I recommend just ordering rather than taking from the belt unless you know they've just made it. (Or you're super hungry and don't care.) Because this place has a high turn over rate I'm pretty sure it's fine and fresh but sometimes you just don't know how long it's been rotating before you pick it up. Though if it goes around too many times you'll notice the sushi chefs do take it off the belt (to not serve On my latest visit we also discovered the private back rooms! You can't see the rotating sushi from there but is a very intimate setting with maybe 4-5 tables. You can see a view of the trains going to and from Tokyo station. This was perfect for our little one. Overall, we love this place and will be back every time. 5 stars!

Yelp
Paul P. was staying at the Shangri-La so we dropped our bags there to explore Tokyo before we had to move to our hotel by Narita on our last day in Japan. We met up with Joe H. at the hotel. He was determined to eat at a Michelin star ramen joint, but the concierge told us everything is closed. The New Year celebration in Japan is like Christmas in America, so things are closed everywhere. We asked for a recommendation and she told us to come here, to Nemaru Hanamaru. We had to navigate walking through Tokyo Station to get to the other side, then wander to find this building JP Kitte. It was a big building with many floors of shops, and we went to the fifth floor and immediately see a long line for Nemaru Hanamaru. This was the place we planned to eat at for dinner near Sapporo Station two nights before had we been hungry enough, but we were not so we never went to it. We get in line and have no idea how large the restaurant is or long the wait will be. Soon, we were committed. Joe H. went to look at stores on other floors, and then I eventually went to the basement Lawson to buy a jasmine iced tea bottle out of desperate thirst. It took us almost THREE HOURS to get inside. We sat at the back booth, and were so hungry that I hardly took any pictures. I did take one of the soy-marinated ikura that Eric R. got (I never tried it, but it was the first time I saw ikura not in a gunkan). Nothing was labeled in English on the belt so we guessed and grabbed. I did order off the English menu since everything was numbered, and there were order forms and a pen at the table. I got miso eggplant nigiri, uni, and chawanmushi. Eric R. ordered chu-toro that he thought was great. We ordered other stuff but scarfed it down. Of course there was matcha and a hot water spout at the table, and underneath the conveyer belt was a belt rotating with hot tea cups! That was really cool. Service was nice and after three hours we ate so very fast. Both guys spent around $30 and Eric R. and I spent around $70. we were given a cute calendar with our receipt. It probably was not worth the wait since we had really good kaiten-sushi with no wait that was less expensive in Kyoto and Osaka already. However, since that took most of the day, we have to embrace our one meal in Tokyo with our friends! I also chatted with another yelper from Canada who was in line via the app since she came at some point behind me in line! Itadakimasu!

Yelp
I didn't know conveyor belt sushi could be this high quality and delicious! Some highlights: - Yellow tail - some of the best I've ever had - Fish semen - yes, I said that right. It looks like white brains but it's actually fish semen and it's creamy and delicious. - Fish Roe - I've never had nigiri with this before. Don't know what type of fish it came from but it was delicious! For 2 people we ended up eating until we were stuffed and it only came out to about $65 total. What a steal! You wouldn't be able to get the selection or quality for this price anywhere in the US. So happy we found this place. Pro tips: - Get here early, after about 6pm a long line starts to form. - There aren't any english labels on the sushi so be open minded! - There is an english menu if you'd like to order off the menu but keep in mind there are some special items put on the belt that aren't on the menu.

Yelp
This was my 3rd time having sushi at Nemuro Hanamaru. On my first visit to Tokyo, I found this place on Yelp and LOVED it. The sushi chefs stand in the center of the room and continuously place fresh plates of sushi out. You're also given a menu with numbers that correspond to photos of sushi that you can order by writing the numbers on a slip of paper to be handed to the sushi chefs. One of my favorite treats is the container of matcha tea powder available so you can drink an unlimited amount of complimentary tea. Each table has a tap for boiling water for the tea. I drank a LOT of tea!! When I ate here the last 2 times for lunch, I thought this place was phenomenal. On this visit, we waited 1 hr and got seated at 9PM. The selection wasn't as great as when I was there the last time...I'm not sure if it's because there wasn't as much of a selection late into the evening or if it's because I've eaten a lot of really great sushi since that first visit. I'll definitely be back, but I don't think I would be willing to wait 1 hour again.

Yelp
3 hours wait...and I arrived 15 minutes after they opened for lunch. There was a line of 15 people waiting to put their name on the list at the kiosk so you have to wait in line to get onto the wait list. If you have a Japanese cell phone number, you can register your phone number to get a text but since I don't, I got a number and had to listen out for it. The kiosk is in Japanese only but if you can't navigate it, there is an attendant standing nearby to help. When you sit down, there are little papers for you to order what you want. You can't read the Japanese menu and can't write the item names in Japanese? Not to worry, you can ask for an English menu, which comes with pictures and the number for each item. You can simply write the item number in the slot and put the quantity to the right. You can then hand it over to the sushi chef. You can put as many items as you want that fits on the paper and repeat the process until you can't eat anymore. The items are reasonably priced but I honestly was not impressed with the taste. The rice was a little too vinegary than I would like and some of the fish was not served at the right temperature. Some of my orders came with really cold fish. This is probably due to the fact that they are super busy so they turn fish so quickly. I ended up eating about 12 dishes, which was a lot but not more than the average of what other people were ordering. The damage came to about $60 USD. I can't say I'm impressed with the food though and for the wait, I probably would not visit again.

Yelp
You already know this if you have any palate for quality sushi, but generally revolving sushi bars are for individuals who enjoy the thrill of the "conveyor." Especially in my case, I don't visit rotating sushi restaurants for a delicious meal. Particularly in the states, sushi boat restaurants are subpar, and the prices are pretty steep if you eat a lot. For me, I go to revolving sushi bars for the fun of picking stuff off of a conveyor belt. And it's convenient. So when my girlfriend and I decided to check out Hanamaru in Japan - not to be confused with the ones in the U.S. - we wanted to experience "real" Japanese conveyor belts. So if you're thinking about going to Hanamaru, make sure you wait the 4 hours for the conveyor belt and NOT for a table. We visited the Tokyo Station spot (5th floor of the Kitte building), and found ourselves waiting at least 3-4 hours for our name to be called. At least you can walk around Tokyo Station and the mall, but you'll be waiting a while. Unfortunately to our surprise, the conveyor belt was fully booked so we had to get a table. No problem if this were at a high quality sushi joint, but if we have to order from a menu and wait for our food it takes away from the experience we wanted. Anyway, all that is to say is that make sure you get a spot at the counter regardless of how long you're gonna wait. The sushi at Hanamaru is fresh and tasty, but it honestly is just like any other average revolving bar. What makes people want to come is definitely the sushi boat experience. And so if you don't get that experience, you better not wait. I give Hanamaru a "Tolerable, sufficient for sustenance" rating. Eat well and prosper!

Yelp
When we arrived at hanamaru early in the evening, the restaurant was already packed with a long line out the door of travelers with suitcases. It seems to be a popular tourist destination. The quality of the sushi makes it worth the price, but the pricing can be confusing. A plate guide sits on a stand in front of the bar seat, but all the names of the sushi options and the pricing are written in Japanese characters (no numbers), so it took us a bit of work to figure out how much we were spending. Since all the food was almost exclusively in Japanese characters as well, I have no idea what I ate when I was there. All I know is that it was REALLY good. The chefs are friendly and shout an enthusiastic greeting every time new customers walk in. They can take a lot of different payment options, including international cards. Very good sushi--definitely worth ordering off the menu from the chefs in the middle.

Yelp
High quality and affordability. Use the paper sheets to place your order for fresher service. At 11:55 on a Wednesday, the line extended along the railing nearly to the escalator...1 hour later we were enjoying our lunch. Choose a regular size beer over the small cuz the small is nearly just a shot glass.

Yelp
Highly recommended! We came here around dinner time (6pm on a Friday) and we had to wait in line for about 45mins. But it's totally worth it!! The cuts were big, the meat were fresh and soft and fatty! I really liked the chu-toro! We ordered three plates of it. The staff and chefs were really friendly and helpful. Everyone greeted us when we walked in. Don't worry if you don't know Japanese because They have English menu and the waitress/waiter also know some English. Everything was reasonably priced except the beer. One tall glass was about 650yen.. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
To experience Nemuro Hanamaru, you would have to have a slight bit of patience due to the long queues. I went just after it opened and still had to wait for 1 hour. Do visit on timing that is not known to popular with the crowd. That said this was by far one of the best sushi I ate in Japan on our trip. The sushi was delicious and extremely fresh! Worth it! 100% recommend!

Yelp
This was a tasty little sushi joint. They screwed up my order by giving me duplicates between two of the chefs but it was okay. The quality of the fish was definitely better than the states but definitely not better than sushizenmai.

Yelp
Very decent quality sushi for a decent price. I was full for $30. It's not the best of the best, but it's definitely better than most conveyor belt sushi places around Tokyo & it's delicious for anyone coming from Texas :) If you're from Cali or New York, you may have a more picky palate when it comes to sushi because you have access to better quality sushi, so I can't speak for you ;) I'd recommend you order directly with the chefs instead of all of the conveyor belt stuff if you know what you like. My favorites were the unagi and the fatty tuna and the uni! The uni was sweet but small pieces. I did not like their pickled sardines or mackerel (which I have surprisingly liked at other sushi places) Also, when you're done with this place, go to the Intermediatheque free museum in the same building! You can thank me later!

Paul S.

Yelp
Who doesn't like conveyor belt sushi! So fun! Everything was fresh and there was a good selection of items. They even have a personal hot tap for you where you sit with free matcha tea! It's located on the 8th floor of the 'shopping building' so you get a nice view if you're near the window.

Yibo K.

Yelp
I didn't find the charm in it. No idea why there is a looong line waiting for seat. Please don't make my mistake again. Food is fresh, but sushi made quality is poor... They put too many wasabi in the roll, I almost cried. The rice is too soft, and always fall apart. The soup, see attached phot, has no crab meet in the shell. The crab taste like it has been frozen for ages. If I want sushi, I would prefer the supermarket.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite meal from the week we spent in Tokyo. Three big reasons: 1. Booths! We were traveling as a family of four with our two kids (8 & 9). We had difficulty at other sushi places getting seated all together, wanting to split us up at the bar. Being able to sit in a booth allowed us all to share easily while still getting the conveyor belt sushi experience. 2. Accommodations for us non-Japanese speakers! They brought us a cheat sheet with everything translated into English (and other languages) and explained the ordering process to us. That way we were able to order exactly what we wanted in addition to all the sushi goodness coming around the conveyor belt. 3. The food! Best sushi I've ever eaten. The toro and seared salmon with miso were my favorites, but everything we tried was delicious. There were non-fish options available to order as well, like cold noodle salad and vegetable rolls. They also had desserts circling around on the conveyor belt. In all, a great experience. I wish I'd taken more photos but I was too busy stuffing my face.

Yelp
I tried the Diamaru Store in Sapporo and the one at Kitte for couple times. The queue in Sapporo is much longer. The trick at eating in this conveyor belt restaurant is not to pick any plate on the belt. Order directly from their menu by ticking what you like with the pencil. Many items, like soup and the battleship sushi, are never on the conveyor belt. Don't forget to order some specialty shipped from Nemuro. But it depends on seasons. They may not be available in the Tokyo store.

Jorge C.

Yelp
The sushi was phenomenal and it was some of the best sushi that I ever had. Waiting in the long line was worth the wait. You can find this Restaurant in the Kitte Building located on the 5th floor. I recommend this place to everyone. Oishi!

Yelp
We have been waiting for 2 hours for dinner, spent half hour to finsh. Too bad I didn't take a picture of food. It is worth it.

Yelp
Ehhhh I was excited for conveyor belt sushi.....but this wasn't my favorite. I tried a variety of items, and while none of it was bad, none of it was special either. We tried the wasabi tuna, the fluke, the inari, gyoza, and various other items. It wasn't unlike sushi I've had in the us. Anyway, I think there are better options in Tokyo.

Yelp
Best chain converter sushi place ever! Conveniently located in Kitte building near Tokyo station, I came here with husband after he got off work nearby. We saw a line of people before 7pm and wasn't sure if we should eat here, but what the heck, locals wouldn't line up for a place that isn't good, right? Waited about half hour in line and got seated at the counter. There are additional seatings in the back of you have bigger parties or just do not want to wait for the counter if back seats open up. Food/Drinks- hot water faucet in front of you for you to prepare your own tea with cups and green tea powder. I like that, no need to wait for service and I can drink all the green tea (or water) that I want! Because most Japanese restaurants only give you one cup of tea when you order tea... Always not enough for me to drink! We grabbed a few good looking sushi from the conveyer belt, then marked some items from their sheet. We had a total of 14 plates, favorites were the simmered conger eel that melts in your mouth and the crab intestine. Three diners left of us each ordered a whole conger eel. No wonder!!! Because it's good! Crab intestine was so good that we got another plate. It tastes like you were eating a whole crab with shell and everything. Everything tastes light and fresh. Ambiance/decor- brightly lit with adequate space. Space is not large, but I didn't feel too cramped as compared to other sushi places. The back wall is a large black chalkboard that lists specials written with colorful chalk, cute. Service- nice and warm. Chefs are friendly. They tried to figure out the numbers my husband wrote on the ordering sheet because locals usually write the names of sushi they want even tho directions say write down the number. So the second list we used, I helped write down names and we got the food way faster haha. From time to from, chefs would make plates of a special item such as toro or abalone nigiri and would get the customers cheering when interested customers raise their hand for the dish. People looked like they were having fun and it was quite fun to watch. Overall- I really liked it! Especially when the bill came out to be about $35 usd. Where could you find such good quality sushi at this price? We actually ate sushi at a place at Tsukiji Fish Market the day before and it was far less tasty but double the price. I think it's a hit or miss at Tsukiji places because the stuff I had two years ago there was much much better. So I highly recommend this place if you want conveyer belt sushi fun that involves good quality food at a good price. I could imagine dining here often if I lived in Tokyo. Conger eel hmmm crab intestine hmmm :)

Devin H.

Yelp
Don't let the conveyer belt fool you! Hands down the best quality sushi I've eaten. Fatty tuna and scallops here are a must. Know what you want right off the bat and indicate your order (with or without wasabi between the fish and rice in the nigiri). The fatty tuna here is a must. It disintegrates in your mouth with only a couple of chews. Scallops nigiri here are fresh and sweet. Very impressed with the fish quality and overall experience. This place definitely satisfied itch for good sushi while staying affordable. Note: they can split the bill if you stack your plates individually. We foolishly/accidentally combined plates which overcomplicated the payment process. I definitely recommend this place. 10/10 will visit again!

Yelp
5F of the Kitte building, this is the swankiest conveyor belt sushi you will ever have. Each plate has 2 generous cuts of fresh fish nigiri, and the most expensive of the plate options is not even that bad! Prices range from ¥130-¥500 per plate of 2 nigiri. Also available to order is a wide assortment of rolls and a la carte items such as the highly recommended whole conger eel for ¥480. So tender, perfectly marinated, and good value anago! The highlights were the fatty maguro tuna which just melts in your mouth and the seared salmon nigiri (the soy sauce glaze and glistening sear, ugh TO DIE FOR), as well as the umami fluke fin. Foodgasmic meal, yet it only came out to ¥8600 for four people (around 20 plates)! I know. I know. Needless to say, highly recommended! Long wait after 1pm though so make sure you get there early.
