"There’s nothing more comforting than a bowl of simmering tofu soup or a savory bibimbap on a cold winter day. If you feel undecided, the combo options let you pair a classic such as galbi or bulgogi with a soup, which is plenty if you’re hungry." - Erika Adams, Nathan Tavares, Valerie Li Stack

"MC Slim JB reviews Kaju Tofu House for the Improper Bostonian, discovering an oasis of flavors, including “aromatic, savory and sweet, occasionally funkily fermented and fiery hot.” Starting with sundubu jigae, or tofu soup, which comes with plenty of toppings and five options for heat levels, Slim calls the dish a “bowl of savory goodness” with “a wondrously tender texture.” He writes that the bibimbop “is another brilliant and very substantial one-pot meal,” and the bulgogi taco is “messy but crushable.” Other favorites include the kimchi pancake, clay-pot galbi, and pan-fried noodle with chicken. Overall, Slim writes: “Kaju Kenmore delivers the often-hearty, only occasionally ferocious, mostly not-so-strange, and reliably delicious goods.”" - Dana Hatic

The kimchi was perfectly fermented, and the spicy pork was tender and flavorful. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, making great recommendations. I also loved the variety of banchan served with the meal. The silky tofu and rich, spicy broth were perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of heat. Each spoonful was comforting and packed with flavor. This place is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious Korean food!

We were in the area and found several Korean restaurants and decided to go to this one for the tofu soup. We ordered a mushroom tofu soup and seafood clay pot. Both were very good flavor

Kaju is the best! The people who work there are so incredibly nice and they do a great job of ensuring that every visit is amazing. The food is always great and the wait is never too long. The prices are super reasonable too. I love coming here and I will always come back!

Google
This place was great! To begin they serve a variety of sides including cucumbers and kimchi which is a great touch. I ordered the shitake tofu soup, spicy and it was amazing! The tofu is so soft, there is a perfect spice level and flavor, and the soup soothes the soul. It comes with a side of rice. Overall great quality quantity and price. And great vegetarian options as well

I was excited to try out this restaurant after seeing long lines outside at nighttime, but was sorely disappointed in my experience at an off peak lunch hour. The banchan (pictured here) was incredibly basic. Despite asking the waitstaff twice for a refill on the banchan, none was provided. Good luck getting any service here - besides dropping off the dishes and the check, no waitstaff came by and it was nearly impossible to get anyone’s assistance. The tofu soup was passable, seafood pancake was soggy, and beef bulgogi was too sweet. I would not come back. I’d recommend you look into the many other great Korean restaurants in the area for better food and service.

Google
We were seated quickly, though the small space can get busy. They're famous for their variety of tofu soups—seafood, beef, vegetarian—with customizable spice levels. My boyfriend and I tried the kimchi and beef; one of us ordered a combo plate, which lets you choose a tofu soup and a KBBQ plate. We went with the galbi, and it was perfect. The service was fast and friendly, and the meal was delicious!

Google
Kaju is one of my favorite tofu soup restaurants in the entire Boston area, and its popular for good reason. There isn't much room for a waiting area, as nearly the entire restaurant is dedicated to tables and booths for dining. The staff were quick and efficient at getting orders fulfilled and seating though. I'd recommend only parties up to 6 people if you are dining in, as larger parties may not be able to get seating for a while. The food was also of good quality. The Banchan is delicious, with the kimchi having a little sweet but good taste that isn't similar to HMart at all. I typically get the Beef Intestine Tofu Soup, which is cleaned well and boiled nicely, with the egg being a great addition to the soup. The rice is soft, with a nice texture that is hard to replicate in large batches. Overall a great place for a casual dinner or to take home and eat.

This tofu soup(순두부 찌개) place is excellent. I’m happy to have this good restaurant. The tofu soup tastes almost like what I had in South Korea.

Yelp
Kaju Tofu House is a popular tofu soup restaurant in the Boston area and is well-loved for its quality dishes. The restaurant's layout is primarily focused on dining space, with minimal room for waiting, so it's best for small groups, ideally up to six people, as larger groups may have longer wait times. Service is quick and efficient, with staff promptly seating guests and serving orders, though with larger groups it may take a while. The food quality is excellent. The Banchan, particularly the kimchi, stands out with its slightly sweet flavor, distinct from store-bought options like HMart's. A go-to dish here is the Beef Intestine Tofu Soup, which is well-cleaned, nicely boiled, and includes an egg, enhancing its rich taste. The rice is soft, with a unique texture often challenging to achieve in large batches, adding to the overall dining experience. In all, Kaju Tofu is a great spot for a casual, flavorful meal and is equally satisfying for dine-in or takeout.

Adina S.

Yelp
What a great spot! I've been to Kaju Tofu House twice and it was super busy both times. You had to put your name on the list, but the waitress was kind enough to come out with menus so we could start perusing. The restaurant was very casual and definitely gave a college feel. I've tried a few different dishes, but you really have to go with one of the tofu soups for the real deal. However, if you're looking for tteokbokki, I'd go to Seoul Topokki instead. Overall, I was happy with both dining experiences here!

Selina W.

Yelp
I feel like I've had mixed experiences here, but enjoy it overall. It's usually packed and crowded here, so temperatures can vary depending on how crowded it is. On cold winter days, there's condensation on the windows from how steamy it gets in there. I've had different menu items from their tofu soups to clay pots and specials. I like their combination options as you can get a choice of meat and tofu soup which is perfect to share with another person. Their tteokbokki good too. I will say that I am not a fan of their banchan and find them a bit boring. I find service to be a bit lacking, but I also find that pretty common in Allston restaurants. It's constantly busy, so it's hard to flag someone down when it comes time to pack up any leftovers and pay the check. I like it enough to come back, but not enough to visit often.

Joy Q.

Yelp
Very disappointed because 1) the bonchons were not good (for example, there's a lettuce with dressing dish - a western salad??) 2) extremely small portion (I got a "medium" tofu pot and have never seen such a small pot) This place was very expensive and not worth it. I would not come back.

Lizzie Y.

Yelp
I had heard great things about Kaju and decided to give it a try. We ordered the ttuboki, seafood pancake, and the seafood & beef tofu soup combo with spicy pork. I will admit, I am a stickler for food temperature and enjoy my food piping hot. For the most part, all of the food we ordered was served hot except for the spicy pork. It was a bit disappointing because it came in a hot plate, yet it was cold by the time it got to the table. The flavor of the pork was all right, nothing to write home about. I did like the tofu soup though. It was perfectly hot, had great flavor, and lots of tofu! The ttuboki and seafood pancake, which are both dishes we order just about every time we eat korean, were mid. We didn't finish any of the dishes and the food, overall, was disappointing.

Yelp
My daughter lives down the street, and I was visiting; she knows I love all Asian food, and I had never had Korean food before, so we visited them. The small but efficient restaurant was clean and well-lit, reminding me of the Chinese restaurants I visited in Brooklyn as a boy. All good memories of my dad and I immediately made me feel at home. I ordered the fried dumplings with beef to start. As they were brought to the table, the server delivered five small bowls: black beans, kimchi, Mung bean salad, greens, and others. I sampled them all and loved all the flavors; the kimchi was not too hot and had a wonderful taste and texture. Everything was fresh and delicious. I ordered the seafood hot pot, and my daughter ordered the pan-fried noodles with beef. The seafood was plentiful, but the squid was too chewy. The sauce was wonderful, and I love how the rice gets hard and crunchy at the bottom of the stone bowl. My daughter loved her dish too, but she always eats there. Even though it was early, barely 6 pm, the place was crowded, and I watched as many happy customers came to pick up outgoing orders. It was not too expensive, and the quality was impressive. Overall the great service, generous portions and unique flavors make this a place I will return to in the future.

Joseph L.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon, and it was crowded. We were lucky as a table opened up when we walked in. The staff was very friendly and quick to take our order. The restaurant looked very clean, and it felt very cozy. I ordered the bibim goksu, and it was packed with flavor and so refreshing for the summer heat. It had a perfect balance of sweetness, sourness, and saltiness all in one. The galbi was well seasoned and sweet, and the meat was so tender. The bones easily came off without much effort. I had a taste of the soup, and it was very tasty. Can definitely taste the seafood, and the tofu was smooth and silky. Overall, it was a very delicious meal, and the pricing was very fair. Bonus points for the free banchan with the meal.

Benny D.

Yelp
Kaju is amazing! It is the best place to get Soondobu (tofu stew) in the Boston. I love getting a soup combination so you can try different things. My favorite is the kimchi&beef soup with an egg + pork belly. My wife enjoy the soup + bibimbap (think fried rice or mix or mix rice)?combination. There are a few things to remember: They sell kimchi to go now. Small for $5, medium for $9, and large for $15. This is for the kimchi lover. There is also a Dominque special now. It's either a large soup + medium bbq combination or medium soup + large bbq. The usual combination is medium soup + medium bbq. A la cart is typically large. This combination is for the hungry customers.

Kristine N.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a casual lunch with friends. The place is pretty unassuming and small. Service was okay, but they forgot the sprite my friend ordered (but maybe we had to grab the can ourself? Not sure). We each got our own dishes-- the bulgogi clay pot, galbi claypot, bulgogi noodle soup, shrimp shumai, and beef and calamari tofu soup. Mine was the galbi-- I the meat was sweet and tender. Definitely not for those who don't like sweet and savory. The whole dish was pretty oily, but somehow the rice didn't crisp up (I let the rice sit to do so) like it normally should with stone pots. My friend's clay pot rice also didn't crisp up :( The veggies were kinda lackluster, just some lettuce and slices of carrot and radish. I will say that they gave a lot of meat, and to a good ratio of rice. The portion was definitely shareable between two people if you don't have a big appetite. My friends had mixed reviews about their food. Soondubu had pleasant remarks. The shumai and bulgogi noodle soup were reported to be bland (we all agreed about the shumai). This restaurant is good if you want a quick and filling fix for Korean food, but not among the best Korean food I've had.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots to go to in Allston. It's a really low key spot, and always a satisfying dining experience. Not necessarily a place I would rave about, but it's good and I keep coming back here with friends because of that. For food I almost always go for their combos - it is sooo worth it in my opinion because once you sit down and see the dishes being served at the tables around you, it'll be hard to choose just one thing to get. The combo comes with a small tofu soup (this is what their known for and you can choose from several options like beef, seafood, vegetable, etc.) and a small portion of one of their meat options (for example, beef bulgogi or galbi ribs). Here's a pro tip (specifically for people like me who are indecisive and like being able to taste a lot of different things during a meal): come with group, everyone get a combo, and then vary the meats amongst everyone and share them family style - everyone gets to enjoy their own bowl of soup (again, this is what they're known for, and probably the main reason to come here!) and the table gets a nice selection of meats to go with the meal. Another pro tip: their spicy is SPICY so if it's your first time, I recommend choosing a spice level you think you can handle and then ordering the level below it - I learned the hard way, haha. I would say that I always have good service here; they set you up with water and a nice banchan spread to start and the rest of the food comes out pretty quickly. Overall a very solid spot for a casual meal with family and friends!

Phuong L.

Yelp
Kaju is a classic spot for some tofu stew and kbbq meat. My go-to stew would have to be the seafood one level 3 spice. It hits the spot every time. I also enjoy their meat combos especially the galbi. It is cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. There is a variety of banchan and staff is always super nice and willing to refill if needed. Very popular place for dinner so there might be a wait. Parking in Allston is not that bad and there are good amount of meters nearby. They let you choose the spice level for the stews which is really nice for people with higher or lower spice tolerance.

Tyler W.

Yelp
Food was ok, lacked flavor but concepts were interesting. The side dishes weren't bad but I think the beans were fresh out of the can with no seasoning so if that's your thing you will like it. Decided to go with the spicy pork which is my favorite but this dish just didn't have any flavor. To make it worse there were so much carrots in the dish that's the only thing you can taste which over powered any chance of flavor from sauce or pork. Dumplings were good but standard soy sauce for the dumplings which to me you need a dumpling sauce.

Lani L.

Yelp
Very standard, but nothing particularly well-executed. Having different options and a specialty in one thing (the tofu soup) is nice. Most side dishes and main soups were too sweet to taste. Food seemed to look authentic and had authentic ingredients, but maybe the flavors were catered to a non-Korean audience. Service is extremely slow, even though the place is not too big, there are plenty of staff, and orders fairly straightforward.

Justin S.

Yelp
For a quick weekend dinner I ducked into Kaju Tofu House. At 5pm Saturday, the establishment was half full and I received seating immediately. I ordered the #31 Tofu Stew & Spicy Chicken combo ($22.99); everything arrived within 10 minutes. For the tofu stew, I got it spicy and with intestines. It arrived boiling, had a decently flavored broth and did not skimp on the spice. 4* The spicy chicken arrived on a hot plate. While I wished it were sizzling, it at least arrived hot. In contrast to the stew, this was decidedly not spicy. The sweet and herby marinade made this taste almost like mole. I would not get this again. 2* Today's side dishes also seemed ok, but forgettable. 3* - kimchi - bean sprouts - braised black beans - marinated potato

Michele M.

Yelp
I'm sad the one at Kenmore closed because this location is way more busy now. During the weekends, you can see a line out the door and a clump of people waiting for their table. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but not tiny. The servers are quick and attentive to when you need to order or grab the check. I usually get a combo of tofu soup with a meat like kalbi. I feel like it's the best deal. It comes with rice and side dishes are complementary. I usually get spicy for my soup as I love spice. If you can't really handle spice, I would recommend mild or no spice and I think it will still be very tasty. They add an egg into the boiling soup that you can mix around. The food is fresh and warm for the soul.

Monica A.

Yelp
Consistently my favorite Korean food in the Boston area. Been bringing friends & fam here for years. It's a very simple set up, in a convenient location, on Harvard Ave. My go-to orders are the seafood/tofu stew, seafood pancake, and bbq beef. And it wouldn't be complete without all their side dishes! Staff is friendly, they are good at checking in, but not excessively. And they're also good at refilling the sides when we start finishing the favorites. Highly recommend!

Yulee K.

Yelp
The soondubu here was pretty good! I liked the side dishes that came with it as well.

Thanh L.

Yelp
Back at kaju Tofu house. The service was good and smooth. We got the beef & calamari tofu soup, Kaju Gabli, Kimchi Pancakes and Seafood Claypot. The tofu soup was spicy and had a rich flavor. The beef and tofu absorbed all the flavor. The Gabli was juicy and delicious. The pancake was crispy and chewy. The seafood Claypot was tasty. It stayed hot for a while. The rice got super crispy and everything blended well together. Highly recommend for good Korean food

Rebecca X.

Yelp
This is THE spot if you want any kind of soondubu jigae (tofu soup). Honestly all of them are good, just pick the flavor that tickles your fancy. I also recommend the seafood pancake! I think their other dishes are decent but definitely not the star. Small restaurant but they move quickly and don't BS your wait time. My party waited maybe 15 minutes on a very busy weekend night. Overall I've been here multiple times over the years and it's still one of my go-to Korean spots in the Boston area.

Pat S.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite spot in the area. Everything on the menu is great. The owner Joseph is a fantastic guy and the rest of the staff are also amazing and very personable. 10/10 I highly recommend.

Tommy H.

Yelp
Parking here is awful especially in the evenings on weekends. My soon dubu was good (kimchi and beef). But all of the other dishes were pretty bad (stir fried noodle with veggies was pretty bad). The duk pokki was basically inedible (not fully cooked duk and it had almost no flavor). Just stick with their tofu stews, don't order other stuff and you should be good. Service was actually pretty good for how busy they were.

Shaun L.

Yelp
I haven't been to the Allston location in probably 4 or 5 years. When it first opened it was hands down the best spot and slowly got worse as ownership changed hands. Giving it a try, it is really solid! When you walk in, you have to awkwardly stand at the front until one of the servers points to a table or clears a table for you. It looks like you can make reservations because we saw a few larger tables with reservation signs. Like many other Korean restaurants they are playing some K-pop music in the background. They don't have a parking lot, so be prepared to look for street parking. The food was good although the galbi was too sweet and the pieces seemed a little small. I ordered the seafood and beef tofu soup at the spicy spice level. It was the perfect heat, not too spicy where I needed a break but broke a sweat. Wifey got the dumpling tofu soup at the medium spice level. It was spicy enough for her, but to me I thought the broth was too clear and not for me. We ordered combos so wifey got the galbi combo with the tofu soup and I got the spicy pork with tofu soup. The combo is just enough food where you had enough to bring back home leftovers but not enough to be another meal.

Mindy P.

Yelp
Kaju is like one of those hidden gems that you would overlook at first based on first glance. It looks a little like a hole-in-the-wall place in a not very fancy area of Allston. When you enter, you're greeted by friendly servers and plenty of seating. We came in around 5, and it wasn't too busy, but by time we left, the restaurant was full. Portion size is not huge, but I think it's good enough. I got a combo with the mini soontofu soup and galbi, and even with sharing the meat with someone else, I was plenty full. The combinations come with a smaller bowl of soup. Overall, Kaju is nice to have around the area if you're looking for good Korean soul food.

Tom Y.

Yelp
we came here for lunch, toughest part is parking, but we lucked out and had a front door parking space. the pork belly dish was a bit too much fat. the tofu soup was very delicious. they have so much tofu in the soup which made it even better if you like tofu. they gave us a good amount of noodles. the noodles was really good and flavorful.

Andrew J.

Yelp
Helpful tip: My go-to order is the Porkbelly combo with Ham sausage soup with and egg and medium spice. The seafood pancake is amazing also!! I usually get medium spice for a nice relaxing dine qqw experience but spicy if I want to feel the real spice! Also definitely mix the rice into the soup! Kaju Tofu House is the best place in Boston for Korean tofu soup. This is the perfect place for cold days especially since Boston is notorious for their cold weather. The pork belly is great not too fatty and not too lean. The side dishes are also free so definitely ask the waiter for more if you run out!

Jen E.

Yelp
Food was amazing, very filling for the price and hits perfectly on a rainy colder day in Boston. It was packed when we arrived at 1:45pm on a Saturday but thankfully they had an open table for 4. There is only street parking even though there's an empty lot next to them, I don't think it's for patrons. We all got the combo (choice of tofu soup and galbi). We also added the rice cake with cheeeeese.

Viraj T.

Yelp
Went here for a quick korean fix. Cute place, quick service. The beef tofu soup (5/5) was sooo flavorful, couldn't get enough of it! If they sold the soup base I wouldn't definitely buy it. The calamari clay pot (4/5) was good but the sweet taste wasn't to my liking. Would definitely recommend visiting and checking out their tofu soups!!

Darlina L.

Yelp
If you're in the mood for tofu stew, this is THE spot! They have combos where you can get a small tofu stew + protein. Highly recommend the seafood tofu stew! It was flavorful with good amounts of shrimp and clams. The bulgogi was disappointing. It was a little dry and more sweet than salty. Next time I'd try the spicy pork or pork belly. The kimchi pancake was hefty and delicious! The banchan options were tasty as well. Service was speedy. The restaurant feels authentic.

Taylor S.

Yelp
My favorite place for soondubu in MA! They have a big range of spice level and ingredients. It's the only place around Boston that offers beef intestine in soondubu. The management there is very kind and friendly. Very cozy comfort food vibes!

Christine L.

Yelp
Kaju Tofu House is one of my must-go places in Allston. Their bulgogi is to DIE for. It is so tender and well marinated. You have to get the bulgogi when you are here. I love the fact that there is are tofu soup combo where you can choose between different tofu soups to have with your choice of meat. All of the tofu soups are delicious! Always get an egg with the tofu soup because it is free!! I also really like their seafood pancake. It is quite large and great to share with a group. All the food comes with delicious side dishes which you can ask for more without an additional charge. Service is generally pretty fast and friendly. The place usually gets rather busy and it's a smaller restaurant so I don't recommend bringing a group of 10 to eat here. Overall, this is my favorite Korean place in Allston and everything I've tried so far has not disappoint.

Hannah K.

Yelp
My friend and I wanted to eat japchae and saw that it wasn't on the menu, so I asked our server and he communicated with chefs to make japchae for us. We both really appreciated their consideration. The food and service were amazing.

Shane H.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with some classic Korean tofu stews! This place is perfect for a hardy meal with friends. I recommend the combo since you can have a little of everything. This place also fills you up so be sure to come with an empty stomach!

Brandon G.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this restaurant! Heads up: They can take your order outside, if you can make a decision that quickly. The service was really friendly, and understanding that we hadn't come to a decision about our orders before going inside. We showed up at 6:30 on a Saturday, and only needed to wait 10 mins for a table for 4. My partner and I got the seafood and tofu beef soup, a cold bibimbap, and the kimchi pancake. - The soup comes with an egg and rice, and had three shrimp, an oyster, two or three clams, minced beef, and plenty of tofu. I found this to be a really good deal for $14.99, given the portions and variety! - The kimchi pancake was maybe 12" in diameter, and was both crispy and soft, just as I like it. - The cold bibimbap felt like a salad , and was refreshing given the heat. - Nothing was too salty. Oftentimes, after meals out, I feel like I need to drink a liter of water, but didn't feel that way here. They also give you banchan for the table: sesame oil bean sprouts, a lettuce salad, kimchi, and a potato salad. I think this was a really good value and experience, and would come back to try more

Emi H.

Yelp
If you're craving Korean food in Allston, this is the place to go! I came here on a Saturday night with a group of friends and the staff was able to accommodate all 8 of us. We got some pancakes to share and then each of us got our own dishes. For the pancakes, we got two: Seafood Pancake ($13.99) and KimChi Pancake ($12.99). The Seafood Pancake was far better in my opinion. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a generous amount of seafood. For my own dish, I got the Seafood & Beef Tofu Soup and Galbi Combo ($26.99). It comes with a side of rice as well. I love that you get to adjust the spice level of the tofu soup, add egg or not, and there's even a no msg option! The tofu soup was very tasty and had depth of flavor. The highlight of the dish was the generous portion of galbi though. It was tender and flavorful with its sweet and smokiness. Overall, this place hit the spot for me and satisfied my Korean food cravings. There is AC here too so you can enjoy some hot Korean tofu soup even on a warm day.

Tramy T.

Yelp
BEST KOREAN RESTAURANT IN MA I've been to many Korean restaurants and this is the first one where the bibimbap comes out with a crispy layer and is still warm to enjoy through the whole hour! Their tofu soup is a must have! The flavors were sooooo amazing. It was not like any tofu soup I've had, it was so creamy, perfect amt of spice, full of amazing ingredients. The service was fast and the dining experience was great.

Cindy H.

Yelp
Kaju is hands down my favorite Korean spot in the Boston area. I've been a regular customer for over a decade and the quality has held up after all of these years. I used to dine in nearly every time I came around Allston but since covid, I've been doing takeout and delivery. The extra spicy level is not spicy enough for my dead taste buds but asking them for extra EXTRA spicy... they really come through for ultra umami spiciness! I'm not a big fan of their appetizers having tried the tteokbokki and pancakes in the past but the soondubu is my ultra comfort food! I'll have this during the winter, when I'm sick, and basically even if it's a 90 degree humid day... yes there is always an occasion for Kaju's tofu soup. The ban chan is dinky but it's generally good quality and sufficient for me eating on my own. Their rice is premium and so fluffy and great for absorbing the flavorful soup. There's only been a couple of off orders in all of my experience and it should be noted that the egg they throw into the soup in takeout and delivery is not cooked through so I just omit it altogether being a bit paranoid.

Katie G.

Yelp
Really great stuff. We got the bulgogi, tteokbokki, and beef/kimchi tofu soup. Everything was cooked really well, and the flavors were very complex beyond just 'spicy' (and I don't consider myself to have a very high spice tolerance). Although the bulgogi was good, it was a bit too greasy by the end. I also would've liked more rice cakes and less filler vegetables in the tteokbokki. Overall, though the portions were great and the price for two people to eat (and be full!) was honestly not bad for 2023. Even though it was packed we were sat quickly, and of course as a small restaurant it is cramped, but the food makes up for it.

Matthew H.

Yelp
Kaju is probably one of the best Korean restaurants in the area, and definitely the best if you're in the mood for soondubu. I came by with a few friends for dinner on a Sunday, and while we were able to get seated immediately, business was definitely booming, and there were always a few people waiting for seats in the admittedly small restaurant. (Table turnaround was really fast though, which is good to know for the future.) We had a kimchi pancake to share, which was not bad. Flavours were great and the kimchi/veggies in particular were quite tasty, but the only complaint is that it was really soggy, with none of the usual crispiness that I'd expect one of these pancakes to have. I ordered a pork belly + beef soondubu combo, which was a great value (I even had some leftovers). The pork belly was juicy and well-cooked, and complemented the thick and delicious flavours of the tofu and beef stew. My friends each ordered a soondubu a la carte (which is larger than the soondubu with my combo) and both were very happy with their stews as well. Strongly recommend overall - and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Yelp
It used to be better but now it's like.. very mid and not as good as it used to be?! Like it's good but I've had better and it was a little underwhelming the last time I went. They used to give more banchan. I've gotten their seafood tofu and pork tofu soups before and eel combo. Seafood tofu soup came with some shellfish. I thought that the soup itself could've been a little more flavorful tho. Eel could've come with more compared to the other combos but it was good. It's a cosy spot so there's usually a wait but staff will take your order before seating you and food comes out pretty quickly. This place is better than other spots in the area and I usually always come back to this place.

Yelp
What a disappointment to have recommended my friend this place before going back to NY.. No longer the Kaju tofu soup I know from 2 years ago. Seafood tofu soup tastes like seafood seasoning and light beef broth with added frozen shrimp, clams, and oysters. Pork Belly ($22) is so not worth. Chef basically dropped the sliced pork belly in the fryer and put it on top of griddled onions. Sauce on the galbi tastes like the one you get from a teriyaki place. Wouldn't come back again. 1st pic was few years ago when I said this place was my #1 tofu soup place. Second pic is today. Both medium spice and you can see the lightness of the soup on the second one.

Yelp
So i liked the soup a lot the broth was amazing, the egg was not cooked bc i think its supposed to cook in the hot broth? I wasnt a huge fan of the pork belly because it was fatty and im not a huge fan of fatty meats. The bulgogi was a little sweet and pretty good all things considered but not outstanding. The soup was the star of the show- i got mild and that was spicy enough for me lol

Yelp
Been here a handful of times and it is definitely a popular spot for a reason. Love it especially in the winter. They have so many varieties of tofu soup and you can tweak the spiciness. The broth is so tastyyyy. Def the best we've had here. I also always get the combo and happily take leftovers home. The meats are nicely flavored and overall, the meal is a decent size for what you get. We also tried the tteokbokki last time we came and that was so good even as left overs. Nicely flavored and good portion. I've been telling my friends about this place and will keep coming back!

Yelp
The pork belly can be a hit or miss (too fatty most of the time). My waiter was fantastic! The tofu soup combo is amazing. I can't wait to try the other combo options. My Korean friend recommended this spot so well done! The bean sprout and kimchi and pickled cucumbers are my favorite side dishes.

Yelp
Quality has dropped a bit in recent years, but it's still the best place to go for soon tofu stew. They've added some puzzling menu items, such as a kalbi and ricecake patty dish, which is literally small patties of dry hamburger. Very dry, very burnt. Does not taste anything like kalbi. The best dishes here are the bone-in L.A. Kalbi and any of their tofu soups.

Yelp
Food is so yummy. Yet service and demeanor are so upsetting. I understand it's not one of those you go in for service -- just grab a quick note but come on, can't you cheer up a bit and make customers don't lose their appetite? Trust me, it's be for the best of your business. Happy customers, by word of mouth, your business grows. As from me, again, good food; horrible service.

Yelp
We went here on Saturday for an early dinner. It was pouring rain so we stepped inside and got seated immediately even though the restaurant was full, and the service was great immediately. The ambiance is very homey and welcoming. For food we ordered the pork tofu soup and the tteoboki. The food comes with side dishes such as kimchi, potato's, and bean sprouts, and they are all very delicious. The kimchi here is AMAZING! We asked for extra, and the server brought even more during the meal. The food we ordered was also great. After we finished up, our very kind server brought us a full container of kimchi to take home since we enjoyed it so much during the meal. I recommend this place to everyone! Will definitely be back next time we are in Boston!

Yelp
We waited outside for a table to clear for about 40 minutes. Before we were sat, a worker came outside and took our orders so that whenever we got to our table, our food came out right on time! We came around 7:30 on a Tuesday. The restaurant was quite small so the seating was intimate so I don't blame them for the wait. Our server also apologized to us at the end of our meal about the wait which I thought was really nice since he went out of his way to. I got the pork belly and it was savory and some pieces were crispy as well. Along with the combo was the tofu soup which I got beef in mine. I got mild (which was spice level 2 out of 5) and it was kicking my butt! Nonetheless it was my favorite part of the meal even though it burned my tongue each spoonful it was so addicting I couldn't stop. The tofu had the right texture and consistency and the broth was super savory and really warmed my stomach. The beef pieces also wasn't too bad.

Yelp
I had Korean food for two days in a row in Boston, and Kaju was my favorite restaurant. My friend and I both ordered combination meals, which came with an entree and tofu soup for around $23, as of late 2022. I ordered seafood tofu soup and cold bibimbap. Interestingly, the bibimbap didn't have rice and instead had mixed greens as a base. The soup broth was well-seasoned and boiling hot when it came to our tables.

Yelp
We were seated immediately and there was a bit of a dinner rush right after on the weekend. The delicious smell lingered from outside the door and we were ready to dine! Service was nice and quick! The person who took our order answered any questions on menu items paitently. The appetizer came out immediately and was mostly new but all delicious. Not too spicy which kimchi always runs the risk of being but great flavor all around! The sweet and spicy chicken was perfectly cooked small pieces with mushrooms and large enough portion to split between two! It comes with a side of steaming rice and its retty spicy that kind of linger after burn on your lips if your sensitive (like my boyfriend was) but if you pace yourself with water or rice between bites it helps. Much worth the heat to me honestly can't wait to return!
