The 24 Best Chinese Restaurants In London - London - The Infatuation

"Kaki is a casual Chinese restaurant near the King’s Cross end of Caledonian Road where the menu options go into triple figures. Don’t let that overwhelm you because this is a restaurant you want to come back to a couple of times. The food comes from the Sichuan, Xinjiang, and Shandong provinces of China, meaning you can try everything from a hot pot or meatballs, to mapo tofu—and it’s all very good. There’s also one huge round table, lazy susan and all, that’s ideal for a big group." - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver, Rianne Shlebak, Daisy Meager

Where to Eat Near King’s Cross Station

"Kaki enters into London’s noble blackboard menu tradition with a new range of specials, recent stand-outs bringing braised pork in oolong and soy to this canalside, Caledonian Road-side looker. Classically Sichuan dishes are the move on the main menu, and this is a place to bring a group, jumping in and out of dishes like the frogs whose legs are now on the table. If wishing to impress fellow diners or just look like a fool absolute boss, order the 800g — 1 kilogram seabass, which arrives colossal in a metal tray brimming with chilli oil and Sichuan peppercorn." - James Hansen

The Best Chinese Restaurants in London - Eater London

"Located off Caledonian Road by the canal, Kaki is out there on its own, one of London’s newest Chinese restaurant openings: Sichuan peppercorns (high grade green tops rather than red tops) in an excellent, face-numbing seabass in chilli oil offer a dictionary perfect definition of ma la, but the more subtle dishes are the most intriguing. A dish of cold, sliced tofu comes with the sour hot heat of pickled chilli, an umami rich soy dressing and then fresh, briny oysters, creamy and barely steamed from the sauce — a simple dish turned into something riotous. The chef is from coastal Dalian in Liaoning, rather than Sichuan, and there is clearly an affinity with fish and seafood here." - Angela Hui, Jonathan Nunn, James Hansen

I would probably try this restaurant again as some of the dishes others got were really nice, but mine was not. If I remember correctly, I had the sichuan boiled beef, which had a flavour I did not enjoy at all. That being said, it may be an acquired taste as I have not tried it before. Overall, the restaurant was very clean and pleasant enough, but the service was a little underwhelming. If I pass here again, I will try something different and update this review.

The food was really good, don't bother with dessert (we had custard bans), it was really impossible to eat it. Make sure you order the hot and sour soup and the salt and pepper squid. OMG it was so good. Can't wait to go again!

Amazing place! Very Authentic Sichuan cuisine. Good portion, suit for a group of people gathering and sharing more dishes. Outdoor sitting is terrific, you will have the view of the canal. The place also has a cute friendly cat, so adorable. Will definitely go back and try more!

Google
The food are so authentic and super delish! I loved their fish dishes! Careful with the chilli and pepper though! It’s for saucing, not for eating! My other favourite menu is the Salt & Pepper crispy tofu! We had beef and chicken in chilli oil as well. They’re are all also good. This place is best for dinner with bigger group (more than 3 people), so you can order several different food and share it with your group. The place is always busy for dinner, so better to come before 6pm to avoid long queues, or call before come. If you like Szechuan food, Kaki London is the must try London!

A fabulous local gem. Excellent hot mouthwatering chicken. Absolutely excellent execution. Even a banal hot and sour soup was superbly done. Their smacked cucumber salad was right on point, better than in other Szechuan places. Egg fried rice was also perfect. Come and enjoy.

I was looking forward to eating at Kaki however I was thoroughly disappointed. The prawn fried noodles was soaked in soy sauce where it was dripping in soy sauce which made it super salty. Fried noodles should not be wet and sitting in soy sauce. The dry hot was a very generous portion, however it was off-putting that the fish balls were cold.

Google
Food was extremely salty, not sure if I am just not used to the flavours and that's just what it's meant to taste like or if it was indeed too salty but I couldn't manage to eat it. The homemade dumplings were great!

Google
Great meal and worth the money! Probably the best Chinese Sichuan restaurant now in town. Forget about Chinatown! All the dishes are super delicious but the Spicy Rabbit was definitely the winner of the night!

Yelp
I ordered from them on 6 Oct 2020, and found a piece of metal wire wrapped in beef. Then on 22 Nov 2020, I decided to give them another chance so I ordered and found metal wire wrapped in tofu. Unacceptable. You basically have to risk your life to eat there.
