On the Grid : Kala Ghoda Cafe

"Despite other instagram-friendly cafes like The Pantry and The Nutcracker popping up in the neighbourhood, Kala Ghoda Cafe remains a fixed favourite. They bake their own bread and the gluten-free waffles and chocolate, ginger and carrot cakes are excellent. The walls are often host to interesting art exhibitions. A larger second space can accommodate their overspill but we’re still always trying to bag their pintsized mezzanine." - Lover

The 26 Best Restaurants In Mumbai - Mumbai - The Infatuation

"We’d gladly move into any of the three rooms at this all-day Kala Ghoda cafe that almost feels like you’re in Europe. The high-ceilinged main room, inspired by the OG Parsi and Irani cafes in the city, is where to meet with a friend or co-work over coffee, tea, and the best chef's salad in town. And the back wine bar feels built for big conversations thanks to heavy curtains, moody lighting, and plush armchairs. Much like at the Irani cafes of yore, there’s something here for every time of day and every dietary persuasion. We love the rasta sandwich with omelet and chopped onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and green chillies, which goes well with the Rojo, a tomato, watermelon, celery, red pepper, sundried tomato, and basil juice spiced up with Tabasco. The chocolate almond flour cake with so-thick-it’s-barely-pourable milk cream is non-negotiable." - roshni bajaj sanghvi

Our Favorite Dishes From a Year of Travel - AFAR

"A hip, window-lined neighborhood café ideal for a relaxed breakfast—order chai, fresh-pressed juices, a loaded cabbage-carrot-sesame salad and the standout gluten-free waffle made with amaranth and millet flour; the peaceful vibe and reliably delicious waffle made this a repeatable, jet-lag-busting meal popular with vegans and gluten-free diners." - AFAR Editors

We visited Kala Ghoda Café for lunch — a treat from our son. The café has that cozy, heritage charm and friendly service that everyone raves about. Wife had the Ham and Cheese Classic Sandwich, I had the Mutton Sandwich, and our son went for the Chicken Schnitzel. We shared a Rocket, Fruit & Honey Salad, the Ginger Cake with cream, and a bowl of Roast Potatoes. Everything was fresh and nicely done — except the mutton sandwich, which, in my humble opinion, should have been the classic kind: just butter, salt, pepper, and a touch of whole grain mustard between two soft slices of bread. Instead, this version tried a little too hard to impress and somehow lost its soul in the process. Overall, it’s a pleasant spot with good vibes, but I still can’t figure out why cafés like this are hyped up to such dramatic levels — and the prices certainly add to the mystery

We were cafe hopping. Had honey butter waffle, hot choclate and veg green pizza. All of them are so good. The waffle is right amount of sweet(I am a less sugary person) and so is the hot choclate(little chocolaty with a hint of coffe flavour). Tbh the pizza lookes likke green grass but it did taste quite well.

Normally, one could have doubts about how other cultures would approach a cuisine outside of their expertise. Aka, it’s normal and expected to eat Indian food while visiting India, because it’s their art, and you are kind of not expected to go for pastas or caesar salads, because to enjoy these you… stay in Europe. But since we were staying in India for a while, we needed to give our weak stomachs a break from (delicious but) spicy Indian food and OH BOY thanks we did so and discovered this place!! These were European-style meals a European restaurant could never! Honestly it was the best salad I’ve ever had in my entire life. A bit pricey for Mumbai standards but totally worth it. A separate + for the music because I love jazz.

A cozy & comfortable place . It has a cafe and a bar . The bar is separately Located at the back but really cozy. Service is with a smile & food is yummy . Drinks are innovative and taste good. We tried the custard. Carrot cake could be better.

This is currently my favourite Bar in Mumbai. Small, intimate, and designed for real conversations—unlike most bars in Mumbai, and has a lovely laid-back energy. Tucked away behind Kalghoda café in a beautiful area that’s perfect for a stroll before or after drinks. They play vinyl, the basic cocktails are done really well, and the whole place just feels warm and welcoming—like a neighbourhood living room with a bar.

Kala Ghoda Café is a cozy spot with a warm vibe. The interiors have a rustic charm, making it perfect for a relaxed meal or coffee break. Their Parsi pora and akuri are absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors, and pair perfectly with a hot masala chai. The staff is polite and attentive, and the service is quick. A great place to enjoy good food and in the heart of the city.pls do visit and share your experience

Went to Kala Ghoda Cafe for brunch, and the vibe was spot on. Warm, lively, and the music genuinely set the mood. The food was excellent, both in taste and quantity, which really made the meal worth it. The only downside was the service; they mixed up our order twice, which took away from an otherwise great experience. Still, with a little improvement on that front, it's a place I'd happily return to.
