Beautiful view of Detroit's skyline. I’ve been to many bars in the suburb and they ask for a cover; this bar is the only bar I’ve been to that is actually worthy of a cover. The aesthetic begins when you enter the booker building. It reeks of style as it is reminiscent of Detroit’s prowess. You instantly feel important as you get escorted up to the roof level and get excellent service. You are welcomed by the gorgeous view of the skyline of Detroit once you walk up the stairs. The atmosphere is really nice as I felt important the second I walked into the building. The drinks were reasonably priced and their were very smooth. I ordered their old fashioned and I savored each sip. Great to visit during the spring months, especially during the golden hour. Also Sam was a great waitress. Down to earth and added to the experience.

I’ve been a regular at Kamper’s for almost a year now, and while the drinks have always been solid, there’s been a noticeable positive shift lately. A few managers have come and gone, but I really hope Stephanie stays! Her presence brings a lighter, more positive tone to the space that clearly resonates with the staff and guests alike. As far as the bar staff - Armando is a creative mastermind when it comes to making a memorable drink. And the newer bartenders are fantastic. Nick and Khartier are personable and consistently serve top-tier cocktails, both on and off the menu. If I had one push, it would be for a few classic bar bites to be added to the menu - or even just some occasional updates to keep things fresh. Otherwise, Kamper’s continues to be one of my go-to spots.

The Book Tower is absolutely beautiful. The lobby is stunning, and the whole place feels super well done. We had dinner at Le Supreme — great food and service. Kampers Rooftop has amazing views of Detroit, and Bar Rotunda was perfect for a quick drink before dinner. The valet was the best we’ve used in Detroit — fast, smooth, and Gus made it amazing. Super friendly and really took care of us.

Impossible to get in on weekends due to wedding bookings. Reservation required. Charming rooftop in a charming hotel. Decent cocktail albeit a small pour. Wife said Tempranillo was good. Not my favorite rooftop in Detroit but worth a visit with good friends and a few pitchers of sangria.

Loved Jean! Came in for just a couple quick drinks and cute pictures on the rooftop and that’s exactly what we got! We didn’t get any food but they do have snacks

Google
incredibly rude staff who didn't want to seat our party of three. Concierge claimed patio was closed but we could look outside from the window...? when questioned further she said there was a 20 min wait time for the patio. No worries we'll wait. 5 min later she leads us upstairs where we meet the most snappy waiter who seats us on stools in a corner by the door and drops one menu for the entire party and then leaves. He doesn't make eye contact or ask how we are doing. My friend asks why we are seated here and not the patio and he says to "hang out" while they see if there's seats. He says there isn't seating or standing space. But can we look and take pics? Sure but he says DO NOT SIT ANYWHERE. Obnoxious and rude wow. We still never got any more menus or any service of any kind. The waiter spoke to us in the most condescending manner and quite literally avoided eye contact. Would walk away as we are speaking to him. Meanwhile there were plenty of seats outside and the entire inside was EMPTY. seating us on tiny corner chairs was horrible. 10 min later they start bringing out more chairs for customers who are nowhere to be seen. Never going back here and would never ever recommend it to anyone!

Google
Good:What a beautiful place to be. The interior is decorated very well, and the rooftop patio is arranged harmoniously. It's a great place to catch a breeze. Patrons were quiet and mature. Bad: The outdoor area is not maintained well enough for daily service. You'll find the menu to be typical of average cocktail bars. The wine list was small, and nothing truly inspired me. Overall, it wasn't a terrible spot, but it does miss the mark for the clientele they're trying to cater to.

Google
After leaving the Book Tower last Saturday, after an unpleasant experience with Kampers male concierge on the ground floor, we were honestly shocked at how dirty the flower beds and sidewalk were. A beautiful Book Tower with trash everywhere! My wife and I were commenting: “Dan Gilbert would never allow this to happen if he knew about it”.

Yelp
What a lovely rooftop lounge! Located on the 14th floor of the Book Tower, there is a place to check in on the lobby level and you'll be escorted up in the elevator. Amazing staff and great cocktails and mocktails. Some food options too. Gorgeous outdoor patio with city views and beautiful indoor seating too. I love the lighting and decor. Spacious and clean, nice bathrooms too. Great vibe! Perfect place for a date or hanging with friends.

Yelp
This place is a fun rooftop getaway in Detroit! It's cute upstairs and the bar is beautiful. I'm currently pregnant, so I had the bartender get creative and make a mocktail of their choice and it did not disappoint! Our server was very friendly and helpful, but seemed to be the only one so she was busy which resulted in drinks taking awhile to come out (not painfully long like Monarch Club, just a little longer) but regardless they were worth the wait and she was courteous and working hard. For a Sunday afternoon I figured it would have been slammed so we made a reservation the day before but surprisingly there were plenty of seats available for us to move to the patio. The patio is first come first serve but inside is beautiful too and there are huge open doors that make you feel outside if you don't want the sun. Looking forward to coming back after pregnancy and trying the cocktails and food!

Yelp
If you follow my reviews, you know this girl is happiest on a patio in the D! We are on a mission to get to as many rooftops as we can fit in this summer! The Book Tower looks absolutely fabulous!! And Kampers has done a beautiful job with the space they have. You can choose to sit out on the rooftop or inside. Both choices are great! I will say that with a party of two, they sat us with another couple on the rooftop. I wasn't a huge fan of that set up. It normally would be fine because we typically make friends everywhere we go, but this couple was fighting. That totally ruined the romantic vibe of the evening. We ended up going inside because it was super awkward after a while. We went inside and sat at the bar and had an absolute blast! Love both our bartenders! We then ran into some friends of ours and had even more fun. We had already eaten, so we didn't try the food. It was such a a lovely experience! I'm hoping this beautiful weather will continue so we can make it to all the best rooftops this summer!

Yelp
This is probably my favorite cocktail bar. The view is amazing and the entrance to the bar is beautiful! It's also handicap accessible through a secondary elevator which makes it even better. I haven't had a drink here I didn't like, but my favorite is the butano americano! The pan con tomate is a great app as well. The service here is great and I love that you're escorted from the lobby and up to your table. It makes it feel very upscale.

Yelp
Stunning decor at Detroit's best kept secret - Kamper's! Craft cocktails and small bites on a picturesque rooftop downtown. Definitely a place to bring someone you want to impress.

Yelp
Great service, aesthetically beautiful, comfortable chairs, and a nice view. If you're meeting friends for delicious cocktails and a small bite - this is perfect. Not a place for dinner.

Yelp
Let's gooooo!!! I'm so excited to tell you guys about this spot. Just because there is finally a real classy roof top bar in Detroit. Thanks to my buddy who was showing us some new spots. Let's get to it shall we (drinks edition). Negroni: One of the best negronis I have ever had in my life "On God". Because this drink isn't for everyone, and to see the have this delicious concoction on tap speaks volumes to me. Sangria Blanco: This was the hubby's drink and I did get a sample just so I know what I'm talking about. It's light refreshing and that citrus finish is to die for. 10 out of 10! Sangria Tinto: Spicy with citrus notes is so comforting. I would definitely order this again if given the chance. This place is super nice and extremely dialed in. Ambiance is on point, the service is amazing and the atmosphere is definitely conducive to grown up, leveled up fun. I adore spots like this. Notice the lack of TV screens. This place is for people who like to have real meaningful conversations. We're not here to cheer on the home team, we're here to catch up for real. They might not say it. But if you're the Margarita and Piña Colada type, please don't even bother. I'm sure that other roof top bar can serve you that. You know, the pretentious one that's more of a sports bar than a fancy joint. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!!!

Yelp
Finally, a proper rooftop lounge in Detroit! All the other rooftop lounges are basically only one or two floors up, but Kamper's is a proper 14 floors up and has the most gorgeous, stunning views of downtown Detroit's cityscape! The set up is very interested as you check in and join the waiting list for Kamper's in the lobby of Book Tower by the elevators. Then you wait for someone from Kamper's to come down the elevator to then escort you upstairs and into the bar area where you'll be seated. My friends and I just wanted to check out the space first before committing, so we were permitted to do that and were escorted upstairs. Once you get out of the elevator though, there is still another staircase you need to go up until you're actually at Kamper's. At first, I was worried about accessibility, but realized they have a separate elevator to take you up that last floor too if you need it. Once we got up that final flight of stairs, Kamper's was there. There's no door, it's just wide open and the seating area begins. It's not a ton of room, but all the seating areas look super cozy and the vibes are very impressive. Their rooftop outdoor lounge area looks bigger than the indoor area, unless I just didn't get to fully see the expanse of the indoor space. But the outdoor area is truly impressive. A ton of couches, other patio seating, giant umbrellas, and fire pits. It's a really wide space and I would say there are not enough fire pits given how cold it can get up here. The outdoor space opens right out from the dark, vibey bar counter area that looks so beautiful and moody. It's sure to be a vibe whenever you come here and I can't wait to come back to properly hang out here. It's definitely a great idea for smaller gatherings with friends, date nights, etc. and feels pretty upscale and like you're removed from the rest of the world a bit. Very fun!

Yelp
Great ambiance and will be back to try more cocktails in the summer months when we can try the outdoor space. This spot is definitely $$$ but that should be expected for a rooftop bar in downtown. Definitely on par with monarch club, but with less food options. The cocktails were delicious! The food was small (more of a tapas style) and pricey so I'd recommend going for a nightcap to close out your night. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and the views were so stunning!

Yelp
What a beautiful bar and in the most beautiful building in the city. They've restored it to such glamorous splendor. We just came for an hour to have drinks before dinner downstairs, but it was such a vibe. Fireplace going, lots of loungey comfortable seating, a beautiful bar with seating and the best views. I can't wait to go back in the summer to sit outside on the balcony! I just ordered a Sangria, but it was perfectly balanced. We did happen to be sitting next to a quite lively group, but they were celebrating and did quiet down after they got settled. This is a great place to see and be seen and would be a great spot for a date because there is plenty to look at and listen to without having to talk the entire time. Service was great for such a packed bar, and they really give you VIP service when you make a reservation. Highly recommend.

Emily S.

Yelp
Staff here was so absolutely rude. Not just one person literally every staff member we interacted with. There were like 10 open couches outside and we were asked to get up because we were standing room only. Also worst Negroni I have ever drank in my life, literally only tasted like 10 splashes of bitters. Only positive was the very nice view.
google avatar

Susan N.

Yelp
What a beautiful building! Kamper's rooftop unveils a beautiful space! Service quick, polite, friendly! Not much on the menu! Quantity for two! Drinks delicious! Dessert amazing! They still need more apps! They are attempting a Spanish app feel! !

Yelp
An absolute vibe. Wow. When you talk about an experience when it comes to dining, this is the kind of thing they're talking about. We waited our turn to be escorted up an exclusive elevator to the rooftop. But even before that, just standing in the hotel was in itself a beautiful spectacle. Once we made our way up the elevator and up another set of stairs, we were greeted by the beautiful Detroit skyline outside a row of huge glass doors. To say the view is incredible would be an understatement. We ordered a few cocktails. Mine were great. The atmosphere, service, and ambience are second to none. Go camp out here. It's a most definitely the vibe.

Yelp
I live in the building so I'm a little partial, but it took me about 5 weeks after moving in to get up here. It's gorgeous and homey and cannot wait for warmer temps to enjoy the patio. I can see myself up here a few times a week enjoying the vibe and views. Drinks were really tasty. Food was good!

Yelp
Great ambiance and really good drinks. The food was ok but you shouldn't go for the food just drinks and atmosphere.

Yelp
Amazing rooftop view. The ambiance is historic and impressive. Food was delicious and service attentive

Yelp
Book tower hottest rooftop! I always used to go to the monarch but this one will be my new go to if I feel like looking over the gorgeous Detroit skyline. This place it's what starting to make our city feel more like other major cities! We had no reservation but were fortunate enough to get a table inside. We were out for some time too taking photos. The drinks were around $20 but a very generous size.We had their dessert in orange peel and it was the bomb. Definitely going to be back again

Yelp
We made an online reservation for Friday evening and got seated right when we got there. You just check in with the hostess on the first floor. Beautiful space with skyline views and a proper rooftop lounge space! Yummy drinks--I got the night drive, which was delicious. Others in my group loved the lucky star! Our server was very attentive and friendly. Food was good--I just wish there were some more food options! As for parking, there are a couple of paid lots nearby, as well as street parking and valet options!
google avatar

Yelp
Moody, cozy vibe. Small but tasty drinks. Bar limited choices-No Crown Royal. Good background music choices. Patio open with fire pits-wonderful view! Small bites good. Can't wait to go back in warmer weather!

Mishelle H.

Yelp
awful service! to the hostess who took our phone number down for the waitlist at 7:30pm 6/29/24, we waited an hour and a half to get a text that our "table" was ready. When we show up it takes another 20 minutes to even get upstairs only for her to tell us our "table" was in fact just us having to stand outside since no tables were available. she did not tell us it would be standing only and the text further confirmed it should have been a table. can't rate the drinks or the food since we left as the hostess was incredibly rude and denied having not told us it would be standing. but the service was a 0/5. why would I wait 1.5 hours to just stand??? lack of accountability from the hostess and the rudeness was unprofessional.
google avatar

Yelp
Pro tip: absolutely make reservations unless you're prepared to wait 2-3 hours in the 1st floor lobby bar. That said, I knew we were into a long wait as we showed up unannounced on a Saturday night. Not a big deal - the 1st floor bar is lovely, and we had plenty of time to talk and have (far cheaper) drinks and food. That said, after about 2 hours and 20 minutes, we were up to Kampers. First impression: ambience and atmosphere was awesome. Second impression: we were sat down at a table that hadn't been bussed and was filthy. Total. FAIL. They eventually wiped it down, but that wasn't a good look. It was March in Michigan, so I knew it would be cold on the patio, but we stepped outside anyway to check it out. They had a patio heater and fire pit going on high, but it was still too windy and cold, so we came back inside. I had the Sky High - it was fine. Nothing remarkable. We stayed for less than an hour and left (had other things scheduled for the evening). Would I recommend? Sure - to check it out at least. Maybe they'll clean their tables prior to your visit if you actually make reservations - or maybe they had an off night last night.

Sandy B.

Yelp
Pretentious as you can get in Detroit. False wait in lobby no matter what when the place if less than half full. Said outside is open seating but still have a silly wait every step of the way even for the elevator. Beautiful setting but should just get off their high horse. Service is great and gin and tonics amazing. If you're in the mood for a $20 cocktail this is a decent choice if you don't mind the waiting.

Terry S.

Yelp
Beautiful environment; great view, professional, friendly servers. 'Will definitely be back!

Yelp
My significant other and I were just trying to kill time and chose this place, based on the Vibes Detroit Instagram page. Great food, great service! We plan to visit again.

Phil V.

Yelp
Great ambiance and great service. A place I will visit many more times. The food we experienced was like nothing else I've ever had. Top notch!

Raven H.

Yelp
We had a 10:30 reservation. When we arrived there wasn't a hostess available. Once she finally showed up the ill mannered, unprofessional hostess took up a table before us.. The same table that was 30 minutes late for their reservation..she walked up a group ahead of us "stating their table was ready" well I guess my reservation wasn't important! I asked to see the manager "Jeremy" and he was equally as rude and disrespectful. He told us that he canceled our 10:30 reservation even though their policy says there is a grace period of 15 minrutes. And we were on time for out reservatiom..this level of disrespect and racism is unacceptable. You never know who you're talking too. But I'll make sure you understand: I've been in the hospitality industry for longer than "Jeremy has had a beard" customer service is abysmal. As a native Detroiter that loves supporting local businesses this type of racism and deliberate predujice, I don't want to be anywhere I'm no wanted.. you can't survive when you disrespect the predominant population. It's so unfortunate that a location in a predominately black city is so comfortable disrespecting the people of the city.
