I genuinely enjoy shopping at this K&L location! Whether I’m browsing in store or placing an order through their incredibly user friendly website where the live inventory is always accurate and the experience is consistently smooth. The staff is friendly and, for the most part, knowledgeable, though occasionally I get the sense that not everyone is equally well versed in wine knowledge. Their curbside service is fast and hassle free, and whenever I request repacking, it’s handled with a smile and zero fuss. Highly recommended to stop by and experience it by your self!

It's the best, curated selection, a lot of auction level wines. I was able to find some Japanese whiskies from Kanosuke as K&L are one of the only US importers that get allocation straight from the distillery. The staff are very helpful, down to earth and friendly, no snobby gatekeeping attitudes that a lot of these higher end places develop. If you are a fan of world class wines and spirits, both import and domestic, you won't be disappointed.

I just wanted to say how much I love coming to your store. Your staff is always so friendly, and you carry such wonderful products. There's one employee in particular, Mandana, who truly goes above and beyond. She always helps me find exactly what I’m looking for, even with my very picky taste! I sometimes feel like I’m pushing her patience, but she handles it so well, and I really appreciate that. A bunch of us get together once a month for wine tastings. a few of the guys are deep into studying wine. I recently visited the west coast and didn't want to check a bag, so I opted to buy when I got to LA. I had to get a retirement gift for a friend. K&L was the highest rated place I could find and it did not disappoint. Their staff was very knowledgeable re: gin and they had a good bottle on hand. It seemed like they had a lot of orders for high-end wine, too. If you're looking for a good liquor store in LA with knowledgeable staff, I highly recommend a visit.

This is why I love K&L! I went looking for a wine suggestion for a special meal I was making, and I was stumped on the pairing. Mandana was working and stepped in to help. She asked me more about the meal to really understand the flavors, then asked about the wines I typically enjoy and my preferred price range, to ensure she knew exactly what I was looking for. She then gave me a variety of options at a few different price points, offering her insights on why each one might be a great choice. Well, the proof was in the pudding--the wine I took home was amazing. It paired perfectly, and my guests raved about it! I've been a K&L customer for years, but every now and then, you encounter someone who goes above and beyond, and that's Mandana. A visible online presence gave me brand awareness, but proximity to favorites places in and around Hollywood makes them accessible for the future, especially the free parking! Over the years, I've looked up specific wines on Google and like to compare prices and read reviews. Among my favorites include Wine.com, Wine Searcher, and K & L. My personal tastes run from everyday sippers to pricey Brunello di Montalcino, depending on what vintages are worth acquiring. My first visit here was motivated by curiosity and hoping to gain familiarity with the layout. Inside, it's nice and dark, meaning sunlight, an enemy of wine longevity, is neatly mitigated. I took in the typical wine shop setup with bargains close to the front and nicely marked sections by country and region, when applicable. Italian first, that's my MO. I saw a nice variety, some Brunello producers not commonly seen, and for reasonable, if somewhat higher prices than other types, but that's the norm. I wandered every row and took it all in. In the French sections, I found a few great values for Vouvray and Cru Beaujolais, regions known for excellence and still very reasonable prices ($18‐25). I found the cashier really friendly when I checked out and may get around to settle up a store profile. I had to buy a bag of ice at a market on Yucca because keeping wine cool on hot days is vital, and even insulated Trader Joe's bags need that extra help. I'm happy to report that I made it home hours later with wine at a safe temperature. Next time, I'll bring ice packs and extra insulation.

I have been a frequent customer of K&L in both San Francisco and LA and it will always be my go to. They have an extensive selection with the best prices. Their staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. Sam who works at the Hollywood location always packs my orders with care and helps load my car. I know I'm in good hands when I shop at K&L!

Only wine and beer here. I was looking for a cocktail drink in a can. I asked the staff and they didn't have it however they were super friendly. If I was more into wine, I would come here more often. It's just not my cup of tea.

Sometimes I love coming all the way to Hollywood to visit and purchase liquor and wines at some of the most popular liquor stores in Los Angeles. We were here a month ago, and I stopped here to purchase some wines and liquor for my cabinet at home for decorations. Nice owners and staff. I will be back again.

The website is epic. Order from multiple store'sinventory and have it shipped to your local store for pick up. They'll hold it for a long time. The Hollywood store has a good selection of wines that are well organized. Small selection of spirits but well picked. Guaranteed to find good bottles here, Free parking in a big lot behind the store.

I'm writing on behalf of my elderly parents who don't speak English almost at all! It was about a few weeks ago when my aunt sent a few bottles to my parents for Christmas, now she wasn't efficient and left the unit number out of the address, my parents never got the bottles so they came to your store, a few of the staff really tried to understand and help but to nobody's fault at all, my parents couldn't communicate. One employee went to get someone else, who according to my mother, was extremely patient with them even when they were so frustrated at that point and not very nice to her, she asked them to just write down any information they had, and promised to help them. they had no order number and weren't aware that my aunt used a nickname on your website, nobody here is sure how, but this employee found their bottles, and my parents told me, they almost cried because it's always a struggle for them to communicate, they felt well treated and not embarrassed. My mom asked her name just to ask me to let someone in your company know about her act of service and kindness. Her name is Mandana. Now I don't know how you all choose your staff but great job on choosing good people.

Heartbroken and I feel like I was deceived and lied too. Long story short Last year I heard about their allocated system basically the more you spend the higher chances to be on a list next year to get an allocated bottle. Well after spending thousands the year came and I would ask when the bottles would be announced and they said they weren't doing it anymore. I felt cheated and although they have great prices and some hard to find bottles. It just left a bad management taste and poor ethically executed false advertisement pulled under the rug in my mouth feeling. If they wanted to change to a new system it could have been handled better they should honor the allocated system this year and end it after distributing the last allocated bottles this year. Doubt it will happen but I hope their new system is better or makes up for this somehow.

I like going in to discover treasures- and if I only really need a variety of Sancerre- you've got so many types to choose from Thank you for always going the extra mile when I'm unsure and making you work so hard to sell me a bottle - I appreciate it especially when you've got customers buying huge shopping carts full of wines

These guys are great, especially Mandana, she was incredibly knowledgeable about the wines, very helpful in helping me pick out just the right wines to bring for a special dinner. Super sweet and just a pleasure to work with. She's my go to person there from now on.

Wine Merchants? A bold claim, but one that this establishment lives up to. I see from the reviews that there are issues with allocations and special orders, but if you're looking for some unique bottles (that are in stock), you'll be spoiled for choice here!

They were in charge of being one of four distribution outlets in the US for a special release. The other 3 merchants sold it in person first-come 1-per, easy peasy. Meanwhile, K & L "raffled" them where their preferred customers got them. Don't bother going in for something special if you don't already give them a ton of money.

Such a great store filled with a very helpful and knowledgeable staff. It's worth coming to Hollywood for and I like to avoid Hollywood. I especially love their varietals from Europe. Definitely a specialty and not something you'll be likely to find in grocery store wine aisles. I'm in love with wines from Croatia and Portugal and this has become a great spot for that indulgence. On a recent visit they actually didn't have any Croatian wine, but they had 4 from Slovenia so I bought those and they were all lovely. Also a surprise in the under $25 price point. I encourage you to come in and make some new discoveries. Online shopping and curbside pickup is super easy and there is plenty of parking.

Service is amazing and all of the staff are so friendly and helpful. However, Keith M. is on another level. His wine knowledge is second to none and on our most recent visit, he was able to locate for us some very hard-to-find wine varietals. What he couldn't find, he was able to recommend alternatives which suited our needs (we're participating in an A-Z virtual wine tasting class and they've chosen the non-norm wine varietals). The store has reopened for inside shopping and is clean and spacious, so you can easily socially distance as necessary. The store has a small, shared parking lot around their building, and I noticed a security guard watching over the parking lot. If you love wines like we do, this is your place! I highly recommend.

This store is well organized and it's a store I believe I will visit again. This is one of those stores I can spend hours in. The selection of wine and spritz are amazing. The store is uniquely organized by the region of the origin of the wine. The staff is great at assisting you with your purchase. I believe his name is Elliot who assist me with my purchases. He was knowledgeable of the wine in the store. It a small store with a great selection of hard to find wine and spritz. Not expensive! Responsible price. There is plenty of parking.

Wow. Terrible place. Nobody bothered to talk to me or inquire what I was looking for and simply ignored me when I was at the front counter waiting to ask if they had something I was willing to buy. Beer selection was terrible anyhow but wow it was like walking into a crypt. Poor lighting unwelcoming environment. Ignore!!

A decent sized store in the heart of Hollywood that one of the best selections of not the best selections of wine, spirits, and beer. The staff is always friendly/ helpful and among the most knowledgeable folks I have ever encountered. This review is past due since I've been a regular customer for at least 7 years now and I have to say it's prob my favorite adult beverage retailer of all time (at least top 3). I've gotten so many great bottles whiskey here and I often go through my purchase history to reminisce. I've gotten great bottles/ cans of beer here as well. The past two times I came in, Shelby and Will were just the friendliest and super helpful. I've never had a bad experience here, but those two just came to mind on my recent visits. The best part: I am signed up for the sommelier service and David Othenin-Girard is my guy. I always look forward to seeing what I get every month and the selections have never let me down. I really enjoy getting the store picks cause I have full faith in the selections David and the folks here make. I typically enjoy the store picked whiskeys because there's usually not a big amount of crazy hype there and you are getting some exquisite spirits at a very reasonable price. Seriously though. I can't recommend this place enough. They have two other locations - one in Redwood City and San Francisco. I visited the San Francisco a couple of times when I went up there for work. Their website is hands down the best website for purchasing beverages I have ever experienced. Really easy to use search function and perfect filtering and sorting functions. The staff reviews are a great touch and I never get confused with the bottle and the description. (On other sites I've found bottles only to find out they were not the bottles I thought they were when I received them)

I first came to K&L to check it out with my friend who's a member of one of their wine clubs. We were impressed by the selection of wines and spirits available in the store, but even more so by the tasting that they were having that day. The host, Mandana, was the ABSOLUTE best! She was not only extremely well versed in her knowledge of wines, but she took the time to explain each one in detail while answering all of our many questions. We've been back to a few times since then literally because of her! Even when she's not hosting a tasting, she always goes out of her way to say hello and talk to us. K&L is great, but seeing Mandana is always the highlight of my visits :)

Look, I'm not an alcoholic, but I do drink most days and would maybe describe drinking (or more nicely, "cocktails") as a top three hobby. This has certainly been the case for the past year and a half, when we've spent so much time at home, with all of our evenings free but housebound once the baby has gone to bed. K & L has emerged as a serious contender for MVP in this era of our lives. We've been going to K & L for over a decade, of course, but I think we now qualify as regulars (it's socially acceptable to be a regular at this liquor store because it's fancy). It's just the best liquor store in town, with a helpful, knowledgeable staff and unbeatable inventory. You can order online (though I discovered, when trying to mail scotch to a friend out of state, that there are limits to alcoholic e-commerce), and we depended on home delivery all through lockdown, but I love the in-person shopping experience. Picking up a bottle of wine (or a full shopping cart to restock a now quite robust home bar) always feels more like a pleasant outing than an errand. We get almost all of our liquor here and it's pretty rare that we don't find something on our list (when it happens, it's only because they're sold out). We also get a lot of great, inexpensive wines, which are nicely displayed with plenty of recommendations flagged so you can shop easily without assistance (though I often ask for help anyway because these people know their shit). K & L has a useful e-newsletter too, one of the only ones I subscribe to that adds real value to my life. If you live within driving distance of Hollywood and enjoy the occasional daily cocktail or bottle of wine, I can't recommend K & L highly enough (other recs while you're here: the PDT cocktail book and a legit citrus reamer, I like our OXO). It's the best liquor store I've ever encountered, and I'm happy to have it in my life.

What a great experience! My wife and I came here to look for champagne and madeira. The store has on site parking and security. All the bottles are sorted by country and region, and the selection is VAST! The employees are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We were able to find some obscure bottles that were not available at other shops we have visited. Prices are easy to find and very competitive. I had a small issue but it was handled extremely quickly and professionally. I HIGHLY recommend this shop to anyone and I will for sure be returning!

K&L is the best specialty liquor store in LA. The selection is phenomenal and they're particularly known for their knowledgeable staff. I can't walk in here without buying something.

If you're anywhere near Sunset and Vine, this should be your go-to place for wine. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. I joined a friend (member of their wine club) for a tasting that was exceedingly informative, yet casual and fun.

I recently wanted to try making some old fashioneds for a small team get-together and a colleague recommended K & L, which is in walking distance from my workplace. I was pleasantly surprised at their wide selection of wines as well as hard liquor! The staff was attentive and friendly. I wanted to experiment a little outside the classic recipe and Will gave an excellent recommendation to try something I hadn't considered - Chocolate Mole bitters. The spices blended very nicely in an old fashioned and my coworkers and I really enjoyed it! A second separate visit, I was considering 2 different bourbons and Illya was able to help me narrow down my choices. As someone that is a little newer to making cocktails, I really appreciated the openness to sharing their knowledge and giving helpful suggestions. Definitely recommend K & L, and don't be afraid to ask questions! =)

We drove in from Las Vegas.. We were doing a favor for a friend who loves to order his special wines from this location.. We did a road trip to pickup the wines for him.. Everyone was very nice & professional.. They even loaded the wine in the car for us., Very nice store.. very organized, clean ..

We've loved going to K & L in San Francisco years, sometimes just to look around and their amazing selection. We finally made it down to the location in LA where it more of the same - excellent selection of fine wines and liquor. What a great store with employees that really know their stuff. We're just such big fans of this company and how they run their store and keep them so up to date and well organized. This location is a great place, arguably the best place in LA to buy spirts & wine. Thanks for the excellent tip on a fantastic French rosé! Well priced and super tasty!

I shop here mainly for bourbon, single malt scotch, and Spanish rioja wines. Their selections and price points simply can't be beat! I live about 20 miles away from the store so I shop online and pick up my orders on will call at the Hollywood store. They have very knowledgeable people on staff to answer questions about what you might be looking for.

This place was recommended to us from one of our friends when we were looking for a certain bottle. We used their website and were able to find what we were looking for! And of course, we placed an order for them. Once we arrived, parking was fairly easy to find. They had street parking as well as a shared private lot. As we entered the building, you'll see rows and rows of wine. Towards the back of the store, you'll see that they have a small portion dedicated to liquor. We decided to browse the aisles to see if anything caught our interest. The staff there were friendly and asked if we needed help finding anything. Since we had placed an online order, we went to the check out counter to pick them up. There was a staff member who was a bit rude when she saw us waiting nearby and asked if we were going to buy anything. Once we told her we were picking up an online order, she came to help us. Overall, the experience at K&L was a nice one with the exception of that one staff member. We were able to purchase the items that we were looking for. Oh, and there are no public restrooms here.

Only local merchant store i found having the year and relatively unknown Scotch on the shelf and at a competitive price: 15 yr aged Pulteney Scotch.

I've been several times and every time it's really solid. The people who work here really know their stuff and they don't ever try to upsell you anything and they're not snobbish on you trying to get a cheap bottle of wine or any liquor. This last time I came in for a sake recommendation and got a $42 bottle which was a far cry from the $72 more expensive bottle they had. And the $42 was the recommended bottle.

Huge selection, great prices, friendly and helpful service. I have been mail ordering from them for years, but this was my first trip in person. They have some really great deals, and still, you get a lot of personal service and no lines to check out. Employees were walking around offering to help as needed. Parking is a little packed but not bad either.

This is FOR SURE the place to go when looking for anything wine or spirit related. This place has to have the most knowledgeable staff I've seen in a long time. I mean it's scary how much they know. HUGE selection of wine from all over the world. The amount of top shelf spirits they have on regular basis is mind blowing. I've purchased quite a bit of hard to find bourbons from this store. Just walked in and see it on the shelf.......side note...at a great price! Their website is very user friendly and current to what's in stock. Purchase something online and watch the in stock number drop. The facet that the inventory is current saves me to driving to the store. As long as they are open, I'll be their customer.

The store it's very organized and tidy , very clean They have great collection of wine and champagnes ,their selection is unparalleled in the area;I picked up bottles I've been seeking for years. They have very good prices. The staff is helpful. And their selection is pretty good. The nice thing is they have a good inventory because of a warehouse that feeds into the several stores they have. I'm a fan.

K&L has the best wine, craft liquor, bitters and stuff for your cocktail needs in all of LA. The only lower prices I've seen are at Hi-Time in Costa Mesa. It seems like K&L constantly monitors prices so that they are kept really low. I like that you can look up anything on their website and it tells you how many bottles they have in the store. Staff tastes everything so there are thoughtful reviews by them for many of the bottles. They have the most interesting, esoteric selection of gins, rums and whiskeys. It is so well curated. I just love looking at all the cool bottles. K&L. What's not to love?

It's great to have a high-end wine shop in Hollywood. However, I have to say that their customer service is lacking. I recently discovered an excellent white Burgundy at a restaurant in Santa Monica and went by K&L to ask whether they could order six bottles of it for me. I even had the name of the importer and the California distributor. One of the employees took all the details of the wine and my contact information and said he would relay it to the Burgundy buyer. I never heard back from him. Not even to say, "Sorry, but we can't order this for you." Even more recently, I went into the store to find a specific Montelpulciano d'Abruzzo. After perusing the Italian wine shelf and not finding it, I asked the clerk at the register (who seemed to be the only person in the store except for the security guard). He said, "It's on the shelf." Then he reluctantly went to the shelf to help me find the wine, as if he were doing me a favor. I will be doing my fine wine shopping elsewhere from now on.

This is probably the best wine store in LA, as far as I know. Widest selection, great availability, reasonable price points, great customer service in the store or when ordering online for easy (even next day) delivery. I've been shopping there (a bit too much) for years and it's still my go-to.

You may ask, why would someone like me, who is not into vino, ever patronise a store calling itself a wine merchant? Simple. This business is smart enough to carry much more than wine. K & L offers a fabulous selection of alcoholic spirits in the non-wine variety. Scotch, gin, vodka... you name it, it's here. If not, they can do all the leg-work and get it for you and to you. And yes, you'll see classier stuff than what your local CVS offers. Come here in person, order on-line or phone up and explain what you're looking for. K and L customer service is personable, cheerful and knowledgeable. "Beverages and More" is okay but in the vending of liquor, still expensive. I'd much rather support K and L, which for *my* spirits-ual wants and needs, is better priced and offers superior selection than BevMo. They really know what they're doing on the top-shelf-- excellent for gifting. I've always been very pleased with my purchases. K&L rocks.

Quite simply the best wine shop in LA. Is it the fanciest or in the coolest part of town or have some hip concept? No but what they do have is the best selection of wines, probably in America that I have seen. I travel quite a bit to different wine shops and K and L Hollywood is the only shop that universally seems to always have what I want (and if they don't they can order it- pro tip: you can call ahead and ask for what your are looking for and they will have it ordered and ready for you if you give them some lead time). They have a great selection of new and old world wines as well as lots of bottles from countries that are tougher to find bottles from. I am usually looking for bottles from Hungary, Croatia and Mexico and K and L had a great selection. They even have he only dedicated Baja section I have seen in any wine store in America. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful with recommendations and special orders. All that and they have a parking lot. What more could you ask for?

Went in on a recommendation from one of the folks from our bourbon/whiskey group and was very impressed with the selection! Mr. Will helped me pick out some solid recommendations and I was very surprised to see that they aren't one of the liquor stores who mark everything up to the secondary market price! Yep...MSRP! If you haven't been in...GO! If you haven't tried Barrell Bourbon..TRY IT! That goes for any of the Japanese Whiskies by Nikka especially the one made in the Coffey Stills (no relation to Coffee in any form). Worth the drive!

I've never set foot in the actual store, but I've bought a lot from K&L online and it's been a great experience - especially during COVID. I appreciate being able to email with their team with questions, specifically David. Super knowledgeable about bourbon, responds quickly and honestly. Pricing is generally pretty reasonable, and their packaging is the most protective of all the stores I've bought from online. It's not something I really appreciated until the pandemic, and I wish more stores would hold the same standards. Great people and great rotation of whiskey, if you can snap up a hard to find bottle. Stopped by to get something nice for a wedding a couple days ago. I had a wonderful conversation with one of the fellas over there. He couldn't have been nicer. The folks at K&L are true enthusiasts and genuinely care about their clients. He pointed out a very special bottle, the kind you just don't see everyday, that made the night even more memorable. For a somewhat small shop, K&L offers a wonderful selection of wine and spirits. The staff is extremely knowledgable and helpful. And there is always some new bottle of something that looks interesting enough to try. If you have a particular wine or spirit in mind and they don't stock it, they can usually order it for you. They also offer frequent Thursday night tastings from specific producers or distributors and Saturday afternoon flights of particular vintages, regions or types of wine and champagne. This is still a great wine store- but their sales people have no clue. I was looking for a bottle of wine I read about that had a good rating. After I found the wine, I was looking around the store. One of the sales people asked if I needed help, so i told them that I was looking for some 2015 CDP's and other wines in Rhone style at under $25 a bottle that were big, unctuous, rich, fruit forward etc. I even gave them the wines I do like and they were familiar with the wines I discussed and confirmed they have tasted them. So they knew my style I ended up buying 7 bottles that the sales person recommended, that they personally had tasted NOT ONE of the bottles were good How can a sales person that is supposed to be knowledgable in wines, versed in the region I was looking at wines in, and supposed to listen to what they customer likes be so off? I ended up pouring most of them out after a glass or two and even letting them sit I will still buy from K&L IF they have a wine at a good price I am interested in, BUT I will not take their sales persons advice any longer What a waste of a few hundred bucks

Went online to search out a hard to find Japanese whiskey that I don't get overcharged for, Hibiki Harmony. Most places were quoting well over $120 which is on the very high end as I last paid about $75 somewhere. Low and behold came across the website for K and L. Quoted the same as I last paid so ordered 2 bottles online. The website was very clear that they would need to ship from northern Cal store and would take about 5 to 7 days to receive at the Hollywood store but it arrived in 2 or 3 days and was sent an email for options to have curbside pickup or pickup at store. They also had delivery options from the get go but figured the store wasn't far from my office so I could easily pick up when they arrived. Went into the store and checked in with cashier and he requested to bring out the order from someone in the back and took a minute to get before I could even browse the actual store. I'd highly recommend this place, as they had quite a selection of good wines and spirits without overcharging you like other smaller liquor stores with friendly helpful staff.
