"Seated at a small chef’s counter in Capitol Hill’s Chophouse Row, I found chef Sun Hong’s $29-per-person omakase lunch to be a memorable, resourceful experience — a parade of nigiri, hand rolls, and surprise snacks served with friendly quips and casual repartee. Hong’s playful touches (he called a kelp-soaked uni, scallop, and roe dish a “triple threat” before smoothly pivoting into a riff on Kansas City cuisine) make the meal feel personal, while his wife Erin’s management ensures everyone is looked after; the counter has plenty of regulars, including local chefs and bartenders.
