Where to Find Greater Boston’s Best Momos | Eater Boston

"Cambridge’s Kantipur Cafe serves Nepali and Indian cuisine. (When it opened earlier in the pandemic, there were pizzas and subs, too, a nod to the owners’ pizzerias they ran in Michigan before moving to Massachusetts, but the menu has since been simplified.) Chicken or vegetable momos come steamed, pan-fried, jhol-style, chile-style, or charred in the tandoori oven." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

We loved our food so much, we went so far as to say it was the best Nepalese food we have ever had. I love Indian and Nepalese food but this was another level. The space was clean and inviting with beautiful paintings of mountains and porters. We ordered medium spice and got exactly what we expected for heat. Mango lassi helped to cool the tongue. I had the makhani chicken, husband had the goat biryani, and we had two ridiculously good apps I had never had before. A chaat as well as a momo finished with a chili sauce. Could not recommend enough. Thanks to the friendly and humble server.

Google
I have been eating at this cafe frequently. I love the no-frill atmosphere with some awesome food. I love their steamed momos, chowmein. Also the chicken tikka masala, naans and the mango lassis are yum. It's simple food without the fuss and a local go to for a good quick meal. The serving staff is also very courteous and kind.

Google
Such a wonderful find. Ample vegetarian options. Flavorful dishes, excellent naan, and good portions. Dining in isn’t the most pleasant of atmospheres, but it’s clean and bright and the people were friendly. Go to order out spot now. Definitely better than some other more hyped up spots in Inman Square………

Google
Great food! I was really impressed by the tandoori chicken. Very high quality with an excellent flavor. The food was very spicy, which I love. My only suggestion is that they might want to put a ceiling fan in the restaurant so there is more air circulation. It would have been nice to have a little cooling breeze to go with the spicy food 😉

We love this place. Stop here each time we're in the area. The food is phenomenal in flavor and the folks are sooooo nice.

Google
We were visiting from out of town and couldn't find parking at another restaurant, so we decided to give this place a try, and we are so glad we did! The food was exceptionally delicious, the staff was friendly and helpful, answering all of our questions, and we loved the cozy atmosphere. During our dinner, we saw 6 or 7 people come in to pick up orders to go. The locals know! Don't pass up this gem of a restaurant.

We came for lunch, and it was delicious!!! The menu is very big; there were lots of options for vegetarians, chicken, lamb, shrimp, etc. We had the kothe, tandoori, and jhol momo—they were sooo good. We had the khaja set, and it had the authentic Nepali taste. The gulab jamun was so fresh and tasty. Perfect Indian/Nepali restaurant, definitely worth visiting. The owner is very nice, too. We will come again!

Google
First time here and the food was quite good! I ordered vegetable pakora, chicken momo(steam), Lamb Vindaloo, and chicken biryani. The vegetable pakora was so good and came out hot and fresh. Very flavorful 😊 solid 10/10 The momo was good as well but it was my first time trying and thought it would be more honestly. Not bad at all though sauces really helped. 6/10 personally. Lamb was very well seasoned as expected but the meat was a little bit tough. We ordered hot and it did not provide the expected kick. Still very good and came out hot and a perfect portion. 7/10 Now the chicken biryani was such a hit and the portion was insane. Solid 10/10 as i spent most of my morning looking for somewhere off of other reviews. Based on other reviews after visiting it did not disappoint. Was so amazing and the chicken was tender and packed with flavor. again 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is definitely a place I will be returning to in the future. regarding the service the tables were a bit sticky… but i’m sure it was because of the scorching heat. It did take a little bit long BUT the food came out so hot and fresh it was worth the wait!!

Yelp
Great service and tasty food! The momos are quite popular and for good reason- the steamed chicken momos were really flavorful and juicy, paring well with the two chutneys. The samosa chaat is extremely flavorful with a ton of chickpeas and is actually the same size minus rice as our entrees. The chicken curry and the paneer kadhai were pretty standard and not too special (decent spice though). The staff were friendly and welcoming and the cafe is pretty cozy with tons of paintings and decor. I will definitely be back for the momos and to try other items!

Yelp
The food here was amazing!!! We tried a bunch of stuff with a mix of chicken and pure veggie. The service was very nice and attentive. Ambiance was just ok, it was a bit cold but no frills overall

Yelp
I was visiting Cambridge area and hear about the food quality of this restaurant. Unfortunately, i had a very bad experience at this restaurant. I ordered for a take out, I went there paid for the order. After waiting for about 20 minutes the front desk person told me that my order was delivered to another customer. This customer is bringing back the order and I will be given that order. I said that once the take out order is out of a restaurant to a third party, it can not be given to another customer. While I thought he is reordering the items, he cancelled the order. I had no choice but to pay and that order which was brought back by another customer. I never had such bad experience with any take out service. Any decent restaurant would make a new order in such situation. Food was okay but was stale. Mo mo items were not soft enough (not fresh). Very disappointed!!

Yelp
It was empty on a Sunday afternoon, so we were seated right away. Our server was friendly, and the food came out in a timely manner (10-15 minutes). We ordered the tandoori chicken momo ($10.95 for 8 pieces), chicken korma ($14.95), lamb korma ($15.95), and chicken tikka masala ($15.95). The food was good overall, but the flavors were not bold enough. Even hot tasted more like mild, while mild was not spicy at all. The portions were also small for the price--the main dishes had enough sauce, but there were not that many chunks of meat. However, the chicken for my dish was tender. The tandoori momos also had a nice crispiness. I wasn't disappointed by my meal, but I would not go out of my way to come back.

Yelp
Overall pretty good ~ I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala, mango lassi, samosa, and garlic naan. Service was great! The waitress checked on us often and refilled our waters.

Yelp
Took my first plunge into Himalayan cuisine here! I've always heard about momos, but never had a chance to eat it until coming here. There was a great variety which impressed me. They were definitely a tasty experience, but a few of the tandoori(?) momos were a bit drier than I would have liked. Pricing felt on par with what you'd expect from typical Indian restaurants. The goat curry was especially flavorful and cooked incredibly well. You can really taste a different level of spice and flavor than cooking elsewhere. Another big plus was the very accommodating kitchen staff. They were open to tweaking the spice and rice levels for my party. Definitely recommend this place for an experience into Himalayan cooking!

Yelp
Title: A Disappointing Experience at KantipuMy recent visit to Kantipur Cafe left me utterly disappointed. Craving some Indian cuisine, I was drawn in by the high reviews, but my experience was far from what I had anticipated. Firstly, the cleanliness of the place was questionable as the top of my table was sticky, despite their apparent attempt to clean it. I ordered chicken momo and tandoori shrimp, eagerly awaiting my meal. However, a disturbing incident occurred during my wait. While I was on my way back to the table from the bathroom, I noticed the kitchen door was open. To my shock, I saw the chef spraying the chicken momo with a spray, with the tray placed on top of a garbage can. It was a concerning sight, to say the least. When my food finally arrived, it was a complete letdown. The chicken momo, which I had seen being prepared in a questionable manner, tasted just as disappointing as it looked. Even the tandoori shrimp, served with raw onions, failed to impress. The overall dining experience was underwhelming, and I left with a sense of regret. I'm genuinely puzzled by the high reviews this place has received, as my visit was far from satisfactory. I would advise caution to anyone considering dining at Kantipur Cafe.

Yelp
Food is good and service is great. Once they messed up our order by packing one dish short. We called tehm and they asked us to come back the next day to pick the box. Their momos are great and so are the noodles. We go there almost each time we are in boston.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service as well. This is a pretty small restaurant, but it was fairly quiet when we went for a Wednesday dinner. Chicken Korma: very tasty, very smooth. Super rich and we slurped up every last bit. Kantipur Wings: this was my favorite dish. The wings are charred to perfection... And those charred parts taste freaking amazing. SO well-seasoned and delicious Kothe Momo: these are the half steamed half fried kind. The momos are delicious, and the sauces definitely elevate them to the next level. The inside is tender and savory and the dumpling skins also have the right amount of chew. A bit on the pricier side, but definitely reasonable. A worthy contender to Himalayan Kitchen in Somerville.

Yelp
Loved every bit of their momo. The curries that accompanies the Momos could have been a little spicier. 3 stars because of their delay in serving order every time. Try out their Chicken kothe, Veg johl & Chilli Momos. I wouldn't order Mutton sukuti. It was too hard and dry. PROS: Momos Momos Momos Uses re-usable cutlery CONS: Hard to find a Parking space Takes a lot of time to serve the order. Very long! Mutton sukuti

Yelp
Ordered the tikka chicken masala.... Too sweet, not enough protein It' wasn't giving But it was edible.

Yelp
Even though this is my first time trying it, i really enjoyed their chicken tandoori momos. We also tried the chicken biryani (medium spice), and I have to admit: even though I normally consider my spice tolerance to be decent, this was a bit of a mouth burner. But still tasty and plenty flavorful with tender chicken, solid portion size, and well-spiced rice. A local staple for sure

Yelp
So, this was recommended by a friend so 5 of us went and ordered a bunch of things. I have already been here twice now. Momos- all the momos were really good! My personal favorite was the jhol momos which were dipped in a soup thing. Very tasty and fresh! The chilli momos have the Chinese sauces flavor, which was great too! A couple of my friends loved the chilli momos. The kothey are esentially fried momos. These were dry, but they serve it with the chutneys which makes it perfect! All the momos were well cooked, good in taste, not chewy! Enjoyed all of them!!! ChowMein - this was good too, a bit spicy, but decent taste, I wish the noodles were cooked for a little longer. The paneer tikka masala was a good sabji, but ut was on the sweet side. So if u like sweet sabji then definitely try this! I would honestly recommend this place for momos only because they are popular for that and it's what they make the besttt!

Yelp
Got takeout and delivery from here. I love that they deliver for free within a certain radius! We weren't sure if our order went through so we called and they were already almost done making it. The food came quickly and as expected and it was very delicious. I got the lamb korma, would recommend!

Yelp
I decided to go here because I was in the area. I went in at 11.40 am (the place opens at 11.30) and already saw a family sitting there. Ordered a samosa chat, Vegetable Momos and Vegetable Chowmein. It took over 25 minutes to arrive. But it was worth the wait. Samosa Chat - great quantity for the price, and surprisingly delicious, i have been to punjabi dhaba multiple times and had their samosa chat, this was hands down better. Vegetable Momos - i really thought I was not a momos person until I ate here, i ordered pan fried one. The filing was absolutely amazing and it came with two chutneys. Oh and 8 momos! Vegetable Chowmein - This was not great, but not bad at all. I found the veggies (specially the cabbage) to be extremely big, but it tasted good. I was not disappointed. I ordered rasmalai and it was a perfect end to the meal. It was definitely not made inhouse, but divine! Made my day. Service was fantastic! Go enjoy some good food.

Yelp
We wanted something different for a quick lunch in Boston. After reading all the reviews, we selected the Kantipur Café. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and the offerings are pretty strange when you consider they offer subs, pizza, and Indian food. However, we definitely came for the Indian food and we were not disappointed. The chicken skewers were absolutely spectacular. They were perfectly seasoned and went beautifully with the Naan bread. I would've been perfectly happy walking away after having only those. But we followed that up with the chicken Momo, which is an interesting experience if you have never had them before. We went for the KHOTI method of cooking the Momo. This means they are first steamed and then sautéed. Again, the quality of the food was outstanding. We then had the chicken tikka masala, yes I know, that's a lot of chicken, and I fully expected this to be the star of the show. While it was outstanding, frankly the chicken skewers and the Momo were the items that were memorable. I would highly recommend going here as it is clearly a local owned business where the owners put a real emphasis on service and cleanliness. You will not be disappointed, yet another five star review.

Yelp
Came back again when visiting - still so tasty! This time I ate with friends and we also got the tandoori chicken (very spicy but succulent!) and the vegetable somasa's (delicious and flaky). I recently became gluten free so the soup, pakora and tandoori chicken was gluten free and tasty. Pickup was fast and everything is reasonably priced

Yelp
This place was really good! My coworker recommended this place and I came here with some friends for a weekday dinner. There is decent amount of indoor seating in the restaurant, even though it's not super big. There is no outdoor seating, but there are parks nearby to eat at for the covid conscious. Ordered some Kothe (steamed, then fried on the bottom) momos, the Kantipur wings, and the Chicken Korma. The korma was my favorite. It was creamy, nutty, and extremely delicious. I definitely inhaled that. The wings and the momos were also incredible. The slightly-charred wings were covered in spices and so, so flavorful! It was some of the most unique wings that I've had in the area. The momos were crispy on the bottom and chewy on top, and the filling was just the right amount of spiced, meaty goodness. They taste even better when you dunk the in the sweet sauces that they come with. I would definitely come back here and try their other dishes!
google avatar

Yelp
I had to try the tandoori momos because so many people seem to get them here! I was pretty impressed by the menu prices, since everything seemed reasonable. Standard steamed chicken or vegetable momos were $7.45 on Uber Eats, and tandoori momos were $2 extra for $9.45. Still not a bad price at all. I also ordered the bara (black lentil patties, $6.95), sukuti (lamb meat jerky, $10.95), and kantipur wings ($7.95). The momos came with two very flavorful sauces. I'm not sure what is in the sauces but their flavor profiles were very different from each other. The sauces are not spicy at all. The tandoori momos were super fun because the charred wrapper had a crunchy, crispy texture. The filling itself was very tasty but a bit dry (possibly from getting baked). I HIGHLY recommend the kantipur wings! The order came with 6 of them, and they were so flavorful that they did not need any sauce. The wings were covered with yummy spices. I had never had lamb jerky in a dish before. I loved the sukuti. The meat was coated in this amazingly spiced onion sauce. I should have ordered some rice because the sukuti was very flavorful and would have been great with rice. The bara order came with two patties. I was worried that they would be dry-- they were not dry at all and were nice and fluffy! I enjoyed dipping them in the sauce that came with the momos. Looking forward to trying more of their Indian and Nepali dishes!

Yelp
Do not let its small, modest exterior fool you! Just a visitor in this area but I wouldn't be surprised if this was a go-to place for all the locals around here. Though service was a bit slow (which is understandable since they were very busy), everyone was super friendly and the food was well worth the wait. MOMOS: A must try!! We ordered the tandoori chicken momos and they were amazing-- so perfectly crispy and pan-fried with warm, delicious, meaty filling. It also came with two sauces that paired very well with the momos. It seems like the momos are THE THING to get in these restaurant since almost every table had an order of these. As someone who grew up eating Chinese food, they kind of reminded me of pan-fried XLBs! CURRY: honestly whatever you order, it's gonna be good. We got the chicken and lamb and they were all so well flavored and spiced-- I certainly can't think of anything wrong with them. It was a dream with the naan. SAAG PANEER: Usually not something on the top of my list of things to order at an Indian restaurant but it's probably because I have never had particularly tasty ones until I came here. So buttery and cheesy!
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
5 stars! 10 out of 10! Eat here! I am not a fan of lamb, but I LOVED their lamb tikka masala. To the point where I now use their lamb tikka masala as a benchmark for all other tikka masalas. And I have yet to find one that comes close. I also tried their tandoori momos, chicken biryani, paneer korma and garlic naan. All were solid! But my group of 4 all agreed that the tikka masala was the standout. The interior is straightforward and no frills. So don't come here expecting a super fancy ambiance, but do come here expecting delicious food at a good price point.
google avatar

Bunkeath M.

Yelp
We went in the evening on a weekday and it wasn't very busy. Very authentic, food and service was great! I've never had Momo cooked this way before and it was delicious. Also got the chicken tikka masala and it was very good!

Yelp
Unassuming authentic little restaurant in the midst of residential Cambridge. Walls are decked out with drawings of the Himalayas. Only a couple tables inside but take out seemed popular. One of the best meals I had during my time in Boston. The place was relatively empty when we first got there around 5 but by mid-meal it was full with a line outside for sit downs and take outs alike. I was famished and ordered saag paneer because paneer is my absolute favorite. The owner, a sweet spectacled gentleman, took our order quickly and efficiently. The one thing that took longer was for our food to come out because the restaurant was starting to fill up at that point and the place looked a little low on staff (I saw only three workers on the front end that day). Once we did receive our food, we were starving. We wolfed it down not only because we were hungry but also because it was DELICIOUS. There was a wonderfully distinctive taste to each dish, but they all managed to shine with a complexity of spices and aromas and textures. My saag paneer was amazing, the chunks of cheese were tender and the flavor of the spinach was amazing. There were not very many pieces of paneer in mine, nor many pieces of lamb in my friend's, but the flavor made up for it. We were so so full by the end of the meal when we called for the check, our bellies engorged with steaming jasmine rice and curries. But we saw that all the groups around us were ordering these little red dumplings called momos and we couldn't resist. So we got it to go. Those were wonderful. From the standpoint of an American-born chinese, they tasted like spiced-up pan fried Xiao long Bao. So yummy, and they come with dipping sauce too! Highly recommend and would drop by again if ever in Boston.

Yelp
I see this place pop up on so many delivery apps. I finally decided to order from here using Yelp delivery. There was something about the bright red/orange momos - chicken tandoori momos that called to me. It ordered the hot tandoori chicken momos and chicken chow mein. I also got a masala chai. The food arrived within 30-40 mins and was still hot when it arrived. The momos were so soft on the inside and charred crunchy on the outside. It came with two sauces. I was expecting them to be more spicy, but at least it wasn't bland. I'd definitely go back for these momos. The chow mein was average but had loads of veggies and grilled chicken. The masala chai was definitely one of the best in the Boston area. I also saw they do sweet lassi and many types of biryani. I'll definitely be back to try those.
google avatar

Rachael M.

Yelp
They serve great dishes, they have friendly staff, and the food is fresh and delicious every time we have ordered it!

Shivi S.

Yelp
Most authentic momos I've had in the US! This place was recommended to me so I took the detour from downtown Boston to Cambridge just for them. the pricing is great for what you get and the food is fantastic. I got the half-fry (kothe) veg momos and I loved them. The chutneys/sauces you get are authentic and the dough for the momos is exactly as I remembered in India. I loved this place and would recommend it to anyone looking for momos!

Tess D.

Yelp
Best lentil soup I've ever had (seriously so good). Great portions on the salads too. Cute and yummy place to eat if you're visiting Cambridge. I don't usually write food reviews but this place was great. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Yummy local spot! Really enjoyed the dumplings. Food was authentic and delicious, and the staff was kind

Yelp
Amazing tandoori chicken momos and chicken tiki masala! It's definitely not too spicy, and would have preferred a hotter spice level but everything we got tasted great.

Dharun P.

Yelp
A hidden gem. Closest food you can get to homemade style Indian food. Authentic taste! Fast service and chill atmosphere. Some foods are pretty spicy, so customize to your preference. Tried the Momos (chicken chilli), Lamb Vindaloo, Paneer Kadhai and Aloo paratha(spicy). All the dishes were great.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. My high school friends and I came here for a small reunion dinner to celebrate and catch up. I told the women server for our table that I had a peanut/tree nut allergy before ordering. Once the food arrived we started eating and I immediately felt something was off. One bite was all it took for me to start feeling sick and I immediately called the server over to reconfirm if anything had peanuts in it for my peace of mind. Low and behold the momo curry sauce had peanuts in it....... (The menu didn't mention anything about peanuts or nuts in it, and neither did the server). I had to excuse myself to the bathroom where I puked my brains out before my allergic reaction got too severe. The server expressed a short and shallow apology despite the severity of her mistake that could have easily put someone in the hospital if their allergies were more severe than mine. I'm thankful I caught it so early on, otherwise things would definitely be different. Needless to say, the service was poor, the food was ok(?), and if you have any sort of allergy or dietary restriction forget coming here because they don't take those things seriously.

Michele P.

Yelp
Two words--chili dumplings.!!! Amazing food, nice people. I can't believe I haven't gone there before, it was so good!
google avatar

Grace Y.

Yelp
GET THE MOMOS. It's OK if you don't read the rest of my review, it's just important that you order the momos. We almost didn't and it would've been a grave mistake. We first ordered saag paneer, lamb khodai, and chicken curry and two orders of naan. And don't get me wrong, these dishes were all great. I loved the flavors of the paneer, and the lamb was incredibly tender, and I couldn't stop eating the naan. Great choices, can't go wrong if you want to order these. However, as we were paying our bill, we noticed that everyone around us was ordering the momos. We were like the only table without momos. It felt like we were left out of a big secret. So last minute, out of an incredible feeling of FOMO, we decided to split a takeout order of chicken momos. None of us have had momos before so we have no real basis of comparison, but either way they were so good!! Totally get why everyone else was ordering them. They're basically these juicy fried dumplings that come with these two orange sauces that all come together for a delicious party in your mouth. And it was suspiciously cheap?? What a hidden gem! Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Augustina L.

Yelp
Delicious food and wonderful staff. Everything I've eaten here is good, but the momos are special.
google avatar

Kenneth L.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the food here. Got the chicken momos, the chicken wings, chicken and lamb korma, and paneer saag. Everything was delicious and affordable! I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the Boston/Cambridge area.

Yelp
Moved from Manhattan to Cambridge about a year ago. Have been looking for a "go to" Indian restaurant since we moved back. I think we found it. Ordered take out today. Chicken Tikka Masala, vegetable samosas and pekoras, Peshawori Naan and lamb Biryani. Since it was our first time we ordered mild spice. Food was great. Delivery timely and packaging excellent. Great meal. Will be a return customer.
google avatar

Tiffany Rae T.

Yelp
My fiancé is Nepali, and we have been ISO a place that has momo that can come even just the tiniest bit close to the (scrumptious!) ones we make at home. This place has been the highest contender so far. I also ordered the lamb biryani and I was simply blown away with how good it was. I crave it so much! I loved how the raita was not sweet. They also have other authentic Nepali foods that we will have to try next time. The cafe is simple, and parking is annoying, but it's so worth it. There's some metered parking down the road a bit, you'll have to look for them.

Yelp
Kantipur Cafe has become my favorite place for Indian/Nepali/Himalayan food in the Boston area during the past year. I had several takeouts so far, since they haven't opened for dine-in yet. Each time the food quality was great and the portions were generous. I saw one of the Yelp reviews said that their tandoori momo was heavenly, and I agree wholeheartedly! I am not sure but I think Kantipur is Nepali.
google avatar

Iris P.

Yelp
i haven't had much south asian food, and the tandoori shrimp was spicier than i expected. a little dry, but still tender!
google avatar

Noel H.

Yelp
Incredible food! I've actually never visited the physical location and only ordered for delivery. But it's consistently exceptional food!
google avatar

Yelp
The Momo's were amazing and the medium heat on the stewed dishes was perfectly hot. Garlic naan was awesome too

Yelp
We finally had the chance to order again - and this time we chose two INCREDIBLE items: Chicken Tandoori Momos and Peshawari Nan. The Momos weren't just good, they have literally changed our lives. It's possible that we be longing for these every day forever. I'm not kidding. Think of words like "stunning" and "orgasmic." I'm one of those Indian-food-aholics that must always order nan. This time, I tried their Peshawari Nan. Kantipur's Peshawari Nan are a bit sweeter than most, and coconuttier (is that a word?) as well. The result is pure heaven.
google avatar

William L.

Yelp
The best Nepali place in town! A dazzling menu with so many options, including Indian and Tibetan dishes. Their kothe momos are a must try!!
google avatar

Ellie L.

Yelp
Some things are hit and miss. I've had good luck with their vegetarian curries, although even ordering "spicy" will be relatively mild. I found that their thukpa and momos tasted exactly the same, as if the same spice mix is used over and over throughout the kitchen. The food in general lacked a depth of flavor that I've come to expect from the better Indian restaurants. samosas were overly oily and not as flavorful as others I've had, but the rice and naan is ok. This place is good enough that it's on my list of regulars when I am in Cambridge. However, I would not drive around town for it.

Yelp
Just a couple of Nepali restaurants in the Greater Boston area do tandoori momos, so that would be our number one must-get recommendation here. Chicken tandoori momos were good and we would get them again. Aside from that, we were actually a little underwhelmed with everything else. The veggie momos had way too much ginger but otherwise weren't spiced. I love tandoori momos but couldn't eat the veggie ones because of this; I wish I could take my own stuffing there and ask them to make tandoori momos for me! The sauce in the chili momos wasn't spicy though we had requested that; and again, the sauce also was too gingery. We also got a chow mein that was tempered with lots of cumin, which is just so messed up! Cumin does not belong in there at all and really ruined the flavor for us. Overall, there were more misses than hits here. Only thing we would go back for are the chicken tandoori momos because making tandoori momos at home is really time consuming.

Yelp
OMG a must for foodies. This place has the perfect Indian. Veggie samosas were excellent- everything fresh and full of flavor! The vindaloo had a unique tangy taste that is what you get when it is super fresh. The tandoori rocks and I don't even ever get it! It was a complex tandoori. Would drive far fir this place. Take out only or delivery- what else do you want? Order more because there won't be k drivers! They have a 15% off to help us all out. Thank you!

Yelp
Best Himalayan food I've had! Have the momo-- I've never had any so good anywhere. Went with six people and everyone loved every dish. Only downside is that they were extremely busy the night we were there (Sunday), mostly due to takeout orders. Unfortunately, they prioritized them over seated customers that night.

Yelp
So one of my favorite sometimes treats in Boston is Tasty Momo for reasons made obvious by their name. Luckily, they're far enough away from my apartment that I'm not tempted to have them every day. Then Kantipur moved in and now I'm 300 pounds. Kantipur has really tasty food all around, but of course I gravitated towards the momos. They're every bit as good as Tasty Momo and they have interesting tandoori-cooked ones that are excellent. It's just nice to have another local, tasty option. They also had a 15% off deal when I went, but I think that was a grand opening deal. The price is pretty good anyway, so eh.

Yelp
We were excited to try Kantipur and it did not disappoint! We got the tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, saag paneer and chicken momos kothe style. Let's talk about the chicken kothe momos first. They were incredible!!! Kothe is steamed first then pan fried. The chicken filling was subtle yet flavorful and they did not skimp. The real highlight though was the momos + sauces! An absolute flavor burst! This place is going to give Momo n Curry and run for their money! Very excited to try their other styles of momos! We got their tandoori chicken and chicken tikka. It was well cooked, very tender, and flavorful! Not too spicy which was great (although next time I will ask for it spicier)s I also appreciate that neither was red (usually red food coloring is added to make it this color) so it tasted like the tandoori or tikka we would make it home - consider it homestyle! We also got the saag paneer which was great, but a tad salty for my taste. I'm Indian and Boston is in dire need of excellent Indian restaurants. The majority of Indian restaurants are just okay... Kantipur has a lot potential so very excited to try other items on their menu. Because they just opened last week everything was also 15%! The paper menu at the restaurant also has a bunch of coupons. Welcome to the neighborhood, Kantipur!

Yelp
I have gotten food from Kantipur Cafe twice, and if I were writing this review based solely on my first experience here, then I would easily give it a 5 star review. As almost everything that we ordered here was heavenly, it was a meal so good, that my girlfriend and I were talking about it months later. However our second experience ordering food from here somehow was the exact opposite. We had ordered a goat curry where there were pools of oil that had separated from the rest of the curry sauce, and compared to previous time we had ordered it there was almost no depth to the flavor of the curry. The lamb vindaloo was watery, and had more of a broth like consistency than what would be expected from a curry, and other than the tomato there was really no depth or complexity to the flavor. Similar issues with the flavor of the Samoa chaat we ordered. The only thing that really felt satisfying with our order was the naan bread. I really hope Kantipur can fix the issues with the consistency of the quality of its food, but until then I will likely be trying the other restaurants in the area.
