"Kaori Sushi is living proof that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Don't let its location within a nondescript open-air mall fool you, as this spot's flavors are anything but ho-hum. Inside, a riot of lanterns of all shapes and sizes brighten this space where traditional izakaya vibes reign. The menu may not be large, but it includes a list of daily dish selections, cooked dishes, such as mara udon or gyu tongue, and more unusual choices like kani blue crab "risotto." An entire menu is dedicated to the restaurant's well-regarded "rolls," but stick to the classic sashimi and nigiri to savor slices of fish like golden eye snapper; thick saba sitting over shiso and rice; beautiful toro sided by wasabi; or a delicious duo of ika topped with yuzu kosho." - Michelin Inspector

Wow! The sashimi was very fresh, and sweet. Usually I don't like uni because most of the time it tastes "fishy", but not this time. The uni was sweet and creamy. The service was great, the staff are very friendly. Oh, and don't forget to finish with their Yuzu sorbet, so refreshing.

The variety here is great! They offer udon, rolls, sashimi, bento boxes, perfect for any eater. They also have cooked items if you are not into raw food, or vegetarian as well. With that said, the food is good, but not deserving of a michelin review. I still recommend you go here, as there is nothing wrong with the food, but for a cheaper price, and much nicer atmosphere, you can go to Huntington Ramen a few miles down the road. I ordered a few rolls, ranging from $9-18 (around the average price in SoCal), and found them to be small compared to others. The bathroom is very run down, and the seating is dark and crowded.

Chef's choise sushi and Chef's choise sashimi are savory. It melts in your mouth. Also, Kaori Bento and Chirashi bowl are really good. Servers are very kind. 😃

Some things I noticed... Sake prices Way different than what I saw online. They no longer carried a sake listed online, and sake prices in the restaurant were double what was shown online. I’m curious to know how much they sell—looked like the average bottle price was $60+. Better than average fish quality (Sashimi) I've eaten at a ton of East and West Coast sushi restaurants, and the sashimi quality here, for me subjectively, was 4.2/5—consistent across the 8 different fish I tried. Hard-working chefs and staff I sat at the bar, and the Sushi chefs were fast. (I enjoy experiencing that kind of efficiency.) They were also kind enough to share insights about their fish when I imposed. The waiter was able to make quick sake recommendations based on my preferences (I like it filtered and dry). When things got a little busy, it was clear they could handle the rush. Intimate (small) restaurant space The space is more minimalist than it initially appeared, relying on repeating motifs rather than true eclecticism for style. I bet eating here at night would be fun.

Kaori Sushi never disappoints, we couldn't get enough of their Black Cod marinated in Miso and then torched with a flame to give it that smokey taste, absolutely amazing. The assortment of sushi was soooooo fresh and delicious. The surprise of the night though had to be the "That Roll", it's a riceless roll with seaweed salad, spicy tuna, soy paper and fried garlic and chili oil along the top.

Unbelievably delicious! The black cod is a must must must try. Love every dish I’ve ordered here, the atmosphere is so lovely, sit at the bar it’s a good experience- and everyone who works there is super nice. Love love love

Their sushi is thick and fresh. I did have little bit of stomach issue after the Oyster but I could be my body sensitive 🥺 however. The bill came out to be $150 with 8pc chef's choice, salmon 2pc sushi & 5pc sashimi, 2 upon, 6pc oyster and 2 Macha tea. I think the price was very reasonable. Parking was plenty and wait time was 5 mins on Sat 530pm

Very nice sushi place. Their tuna sashimi was almost as delicious as their fatty tuna, except it tasted slightly more "bloody". I would definitely go with tuna as a better deal. Mackerel sushi was my next favorite item. It was flesh and more flavorful than many regular sushi bars. I felt lucky finding monkfish livers here, but it was a bit leaner as I remembered... still liked it though.
