Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant

Taking everything into consideration, our dim sum experience here was good. Leave it to our compatriots from Guangdong; they have the ability to turn any restaurant, anywhere on earth, into an old Hong Kong-style dim sum eatery. The atmosphere was quite noisy, with crowds waiting in the cramped space left over from packing tables into a room clearly not meant for them. Just like your standard run of the mill Hong Kong dim sum eatery. As for the food, the dishes were pretty tasty. Everything we tried was above average for Honolulu, though more or less average or slightly below average when compared to the dim sum scene in Los Angeles, a 3/star at best. The service was friendly and quick, and the seating area was tight and noisy—no surprises there.

Our foodie group held our annual lunar new year gathering of 33 people - 11 per table, which was too tight but that was our fault for not capping the guest count. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, and everyone thought our set menu selection ($50 per person) was excellent. By the final dishes, though, we were too stuffed to really eat it all. BTW, they serve the rice and veggies toward the end, so if you want those served earlier in the course, you should request that. Parking is a bit of an issue - spots are limited in the lot, so come early before the dining rush if you want to snag one.

The dining area is packed full of local people catching up with friends, eating with older relatives. There are a few couples. The process to get a table is a little unclear. Some people were sitting outside, but at the cashier counter a notepad of names and party count seem to be used somewhat. I had to chase someone down to inquire whether there was a wait. Then the people sitting outside came inside and she said "who was first?" She quickly triaged us to 3 different tables. The menu is a paper half sheet and a laminated color picture menu to aid people in making the correct selections. The order is confirmed; tea pot and cups are delivered; paper inventory of your order is taped to the table. As food is delivered they are crossed off the sheet. The portion sizes are very large here. We had to bring home about half of what we ordered because of the generous sizes. The good thing about fresh-out-of-the-kitchen delivery is that everything is steaming hot.

Wow, what a find. Crazy they're not in China Town, but that actually makes it more convenient. Driving here is shorter and parking might be easier. The food is better than anything I've tasted in China Town. Not the best I've ever had, but still the best I've had on Oahu so far

We arrived around 11 am and there were already people waiting to go into the restaurant. You leave your name with the ladies at the front and they call you as tables become available. You complete a form to order dim sum. If you want noodles or something other than dim sum you need to wait till after 10. The restaurant is very clean and the staff very friendly and accommodating. My friend and I had 5 dim sum items- taro with pork, shrimp lookfun, Shanghai pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, pork buns and beef chow fun. The food arrived in stages so we were able to eat without being rushed. Most items were flavorful with the exception of the taro filled with pork. That was a bit bland. You will need to request ice water but the waitress brings you tea with the place settings. The tables seem to rotate quickly so I think the wait is not longer than 15 to 30 minutes. I will be adding this restaurant to my take out list for the week. Apologies for the lack of food items in the photos as I forgot to take pictures until we had devoured most of the food.

It's not another dim sum place. They have their own flavor. Service was fast and efficient. We got their with people already in line, but we got called after 15 minutes even after listing ourselves 5th in line. It was crowded but surprisingly not noisy and having your (personal) space. Enjoyed the food, especially that it was fair priced. Crispy green onion = exactly what it sounded comparable to that Crispy seafood pancake fresh off the grill Chicken feet - yum, fall off the bone, melt in your mouth. Mild flavor but satisfying. House dumpling - nutty, crispy with umami taste. We enjoyed all.

This is the first time I've left a 1-star review because I was so upset. The service was terrible. We had been here a few times before and found it quite good, so we returned. We went to eat on December 24th, and the restaurant wasn't too busy. We ordered some dim sum, half a roasted duck, and two stir-fried dishes. They brought out the half-roasted duck, which was still bloody. When we tried it, it tasted very fishy, ​​and the meat in the middle was still raw; the outside was warm, but the inside was very cold. I called the waiter and asked him to reheat it, but he got angry and walked away, saying he would cancel the duck. We politely said that we didn't want to cancel the dish, just wanted it reheated. He looked annoyed and said that the restaurant was very busy and didn't have enough duck to sell, and would only reheat it for a minute. Then he came back and said I was lying because the duck wasn't cold. I asked him if he had tried it? He said he had touched the food with his hand. The duck on the plate was still raw and exactly the same as before. He asked if we wanted to cancel, and we agreed to cancel. After that, they didn't bring out the remaining dishes and said they were out of stock without informing us, so we sat waiting for half an hour. It's terrible that a restaurant would argue with customers when they ask for food to be reheated, and then not bring out the remaining dishes, only saying they were out of stock when asked. We will not be returning and will tell all our friends not to go here.

The dim sum was delicious and enjoyable. We ordered the hagow, shiu mai, spare ribs, and other familiar favorites. Everything was tasty and reasonably priced. The stuffed bean curd was the standout while the baked manapua was flavorful although I was not a fan of the sugar coated topping. Personally, I prefer having the cart service with steaming baskets rolling by so I can pick what looks good but that is just personal preference. The staff did a great job being attentive and bringing the bamboo steamers straight to the table and everything arrived hot and fresh from the kitchen.

Update: I went back since my initial visit with friends as it was one of the few places that still serves dim sum in the evening. Definitely worth checking this place out if you're craving some dim sum! Everything was super yummy and it hit the spot. The food came out as it was ready so we didn't have to wait too long to start eating. Parking: there is a parking lot as the restaurant is in a shopping plaza.

Good as always. The food was solid, consistent, and doing exactly what dim sum is supposed to do--make you order way more than you planned. The staff was friendly and fast... except for my ongoing personal battle with the turnip cake. I asked for it extra crispy. What arrived was more "soft and limp" than crispy. No worries, I sent it back and asked nicely again. It did come back improved, but the waiter brought a little side of attitude with it--apparently "extra crispy" is a bold request . That one moment aside, the food here is always reliable and good, and we will be back. Crispy negotiations and all, this place still delivers.

To kick off the new year, my family and I decided to give Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant a try. Dim sum is always my pick, and I really wanted this to be a better experience because I was genuinely looking forward to it - their photos and reviews looked great. Unfortunately, our visit fell a bit short. We went on the first Sunday in January, so the restaurant was understandably packed with families who had the same idea. We arrived around 10:45am and were lucky to snag the very last parking stall. Note that several stalls are designated for the Thai restaurant next door, so be mindful of where you park. Anyway, our party of 5 waited 45 mins for a table. I did call ahead hoping to make a reservation, but was informed that reservations are only accepted for parties of 5 or more after 5pm. Totally understandable for a spot that primarily serves dim sum during lunch hours. The gentleman who answered the phone was very kind and explained everything clearly and pleasantly - which I really appreciated, especially given how rushed or abrupt some dim sum restaurant interactions can be. In fact, several staff members were friendly, and that's largely why I'm giving this place 3 stars. That said... the food just wasn't our flavor. Nothing was outright "bad," but it didn't align with what we're accustomed to. Some of the wrappers were undercooked, the egg tart was straight up flavorless, and the baked char siu bun was 90% bread. Huge bummer! It's possible the kitchen was rushing due to the crowd, but either way, we didn't enjoy everything we ordered. Another surprise was the pricing. We considered ordering a crab dish similar to the "golden crab" (Chinese-style egg yolk preparation) that we often get at a nearby restaurant for about $50 on the high end. Here, we were told the price was $85 for one small Dungeness crab. Communication around this was a bit challenging, tho thankfully my daughter's bf speaks fluent Mandarin and was able to clarify. I can see this restaurant having exceptional moments when everything aligns - quality food, good service, and the right timing. Unfortunately, Sunday wasn't it for us. Our experience lacked attention, efficiency, and flavor. Still, I'm glad we gave it a try. (Didn't catch pics of everything)

We love dim sum so wanted to try out this dim sum restaurant. It's located at the old MW restaurant site. Restaurant was clean and well lit. It's a relatively small restaurant. My husband's parents were coming in town so we wanted them to try some dim sum. We made reservations, and our table was ready on arrival. They seated us right at the Entrance, which was awkward as everybody coming and leaving the restaurant walked right by our table. Servers were pleasant, food came out relatively quickly. We ordered the typical basics, including pork hash, shrimp dumplings, taro puffs, look fun and char siu bao. My father-in-law also ordered the chicken wings. This was interesting as I wouldn't expect this at a Chinese restaurant. Food was average, nothing special. My father-in-law liked the chicken wings! Parking was free so that was a plus.

If you're looking for good dim sum on Oahu this place is it! You know it's a good sign when you walk in and see all the locals there. It's located kind of in the back so you can't see it from the street. Parking is available in the back too. There are plenty of tables for small and large parties. You place your order right on the menu and your order is brought to you fresh on carts. We tried lots of items but my favorites were the pork bean curd roll and the shrimp look fun. So happy we found a great dim sum place on Oahu!

We went to set up reservations for our upcoming Christmas party and decided to try some of the dishes to preorder and also check our table setting configuration. We tried the black bean fresh clams which was okay, but it seems the sauce was just poured on and not simmered in the black beans sauce, so it lacked the flavor. The Chow fun was good could be more flavorful. The fried chicken was very good and crispy and came out nice and hot, it had 8 pieces of chicken wings. Sorry Yelp limits the amount of pictures, even When I deter older pictures, I couldn't input the updated picture and prices, so the prices are higher than the menus I posted earlier. Large parking in back and street parking in front only after certain times you can park, on the street.

I don't even think I can count on my hand(s) how much times I have been here. The food almost never misses and always hit the spot. Service is decently quick and but sometimes not the best. I feel like when they aren't as busy, they seem to want to rush to get everyone out towards the end of the night. This means a lot of hovering and even ignoring while they closed up. I would say again, that the space is large and everything is clean and well kept. Please look at my previous reviews for specific dimsum recommendations & ratings, but I just usually order the same ones over and over again. This time the new thing we tried was the fried intestine. If you like intestine, I think you would LOVE this. Sometimes intestines are not the most appealing to me because of the chewy and rubbery texture. This on the other hand, was crispy on the outside and fatty/soft on the inside. It was PERFECT and DELICIOUS if you like that type of stuff.

We actually drove about 25 miles to try this place after seeing all the good reviews. First time here! We ordered quite a few dishes: the beef tripe was a bit rubbery for our liking, and my mom was craving chicken feet but said she preferred the ones from other dim sum spots in Chinatown. The stir-fried look fun also lacked flavor and was a little chewy. We tried the crispy green onion cake too, but my family wasn't too impressed. On the positive side, the baked pork buns were really good! We also enjoyed our usual go-to dim sum items ...pork hash, shrimp dumplings, and spare ribs . Those definitely hit the spot. Maybe we just picked the wrong items to try this time. Service was quick, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I also noticed they had a BYOB sign, which is nice. Lots of parking and there's a restroom available too. Overall, not bad, I might give it another shot and try some different dishes next time!

This place is legit. Local friend Nicki referred this place to us and it was great. We mixed dim sum with entrees. Everything we ordered was delicious. The waitresses were very attentive with our water and needs. Will totally return.

Some nice Dim Sum and dinner entrees here. Clams with black beans were tremendous! Beef Chow fun was a little bland and unfortunately no taste of "wok hey." Service and a friendly when you hail them down. Pork hash still shines though obviously different from our first visit. Ong Choi was great though I think the Salted Choy was better in a previous visit. Don't miss the regular menu as some entrees (made to order) are better than the less freshly prepared dim sum options.

***4.75 STARS*** Finally got my cherry popped. You see, Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant (KSR) has been under my radar since they opened in September 2022 in the spot previously occupied by MW Restaurant. They were the new kid on the block which had the Chinese community buzzing as the go to place for dim sum and Chinese food. Prior to coming here for dim sum this past State holiday, I've been to their sister restaurant Honolulu Seafood Restaurant (HSR) on Alakea St, which took over previously well known restaurants of The Mandalay and Yong Sing Restaurant. I was impressed with HSR on 2 visits with family where the bar was set high. Was so excited to finally try KSR. Met up with the whole family before favorite nephew by default started work. Was advised they don't take early reservations but because I've heard the restaurant isn't that large and fills up quickly, I arrived early before the agreed time to secure a table. It was empty when I arrived bit shortly after, people started to shuffle in. Impressive. I used the waiting time to dissect the menu and checked out the food gallery on Yelp. I immediately noticed that the menu changed slightly as abalone sticky rice in lotus leaf has been replaced by chicken and you get 2 smaller bundles rather than 1 large one. I took liberty in ordering and asked my family what they wanted. To no surprise, I ordered a storm where our lazy Susan was soon filled and multiple baskets were piled high. Star of the meal was not dim sum but crowd favorite was the beef chow funn dry style, which is served from 1030am. Had great wok hei and noticed sliced red onion was used. Amazing execution. Highly recommended. Other standouts were pan fried shrimp and chives dumplings, deep fried shrimp balls, crispy look funn roll, seafood tofu skin rolls, siu mai, har gao and steamed book tripe. Service was above average for a Chinese restaurant. Not all staff spoke English nor Cantonese so we had a little difficulty speaking Mandarin. Restaurant was clean but a little tacky with Christmas lights decorated in August. Overall, a great brunch with family at KSR where I yearn for a return visit. This time I'd like to dine with family to try their entrees. Very promising and KSR lived up to its respectable reputation in the Chinese community.

Delicious food! 8 of us had dinner here tonight! The food was very delicious! We ordered Dim Sum plus several main course dishes. Everything was super delicious! The service was wonderful and spot on! The ambiance is your typical Chinese Restaurant, loud and not too loud. Very comfortable!

I heard this is new in town in Hawaii. So my family took me here, very good food. Tight seating. Quick service. Ambience: 4/5 Food: 5/5 Price: 5/5 Service: 5/5

When we're in town, we used to go to YYK across the way before it closed. 2nd time trying this place for dim sum and I felt it was better the 1st time. Both times we walked right in as a table opened up. Love when I go to places and they speak Canto here, giving it a homey feel. For some reason when I saw the beef tripe on the menu, it sounded good to me. It's rare to find a place that makes it tasty and tender without it reminding you that it smells like beef tripe. So glad I ordered it bc it my was favorite dish. The Baked BBQ Pork Bun was okay this time. It wasn't as fresh out of the oven "hot." All the beef items were also my favorite. The beef balls over bean curd and the beef rice noodles (aka look fun. Still not sure why it's called that on the island). Tea was pretty generic. I don't even think they asked us what tea leaves we wanted. The go choy gow had a nice filling. But the skin was really thick and tough. Siu Mai was very....peppery and fatty. Overall, it was alright. Not my favorite dim sum but it'll do until I find another place

We tried the braised e-fu noodles today and were underwhelmed. No discernible sauce or flavor beyond 'salt', and while the mushrooms and snow peas were good, a few more peas (or anything) would be nice for a dish that's almost $20. The chicken feet here are excellent though, and we really love both bean curd dim sum dishes - the crispy is chock full of shrimp and the soft one is saucy and full of veggies. Service felt almost non-existent today and we had to flag people down for anything. Still a good meal but won't be rushing back quite as fast for our next one.

Fresh dim sum til 9pm!? Where have you been all my life??? TLDR: Not the greatest dim sum restaurant, but I'll probably still be back. Came in on a a Saturday night at 7:30 for a friend's birthday, party of 8. We had reservations and were seated right away. The place was busy, but not so much that our party couldn't have been seated even if we'd shown up with no reservation. Service was friendly and attentive. The parking lot was FULL but I found a spot along the building on the sketchy backside under a big tree (which resulted in my car being completely covered in A LOT of bird droppings). Siu mai and har gow were good, but those are pretty hard to mess up staples. The minced pork and string beans was also good (even better than the famous Din Tai Fung one I just ate a couple weeks ago in Portland). The pan-fried turnip cake with XO sauce and pan-fried shrimp and chives dumplings were good, too. The beef tendon sizzling pot, spare rib with black bean sauce, and mushroom siu mai were all okay. We tried 3 different look funs and unfortunately none of them were good. The pan-fried one was way too dry (there's a difference between pan-fried crispy and just dried out). The crispy roll look fun was a huge disappointment (it's just unflavored bread in an unflavored skin). The shrimp look fun came swimming in an unpleasant five spice sauce that made the whole thing unedible to me. The pan-fried turnip cake was a little undercooked and soggy. I like mine with a nice crunchy bite. But overall not bad. The crispy onion cake had nothing especially wrong with it, but was a bit too doughy and uncrunchy for my liking (although I'm spoiled by the amazing ones from Volcano Skewer House that I eat on the regular). Similarly, the salt and pepper pork chops were also not necessarily bad, but a disappointing lack of flavor when this item is usually one of my favorites. The shrimp fried rice was completely flavorless. We had about 10 other dishes that I felt completely uninspired to take photos of and have since forgotten what they were. The ordering system left much to be desired. We started off with spending 10 minutes filling out our first order paper. Only after which the waiter came to review our order and tell us 3 things we'd selected were out (with an additional 2 more things ending up being out after we'd waited for them for half an hour). The order form is in both Chinese and English, but once they put your order in the system, it prints out a list in only Chinese which is what you get back and what the servers use to check off when they bring each dish--so we had no idea if they were checking off the right things and couldn't remember what we were still missing. And a few times the server gave us food without checking anything off, which left them confused as well even when they could read the order sheet. We got 2 different dishes that we didn't order, which turned out to be for other tables. We had 4 orders of shrimp look fun that hadn't come out yet by the time we finished eating 90 minutes later, but when we told the waiter never mind just cancel them cuz we're full, we were told it was too late to cancel them because they're already being cooked. For 90 minutes?? All in all, a passable dim sum/Chinese restaurant. With 8 people, we got to try a lot of things on the menu. Some of it was good. A lot of it was a hard pass. If not for the fact that I can get dim sum at night here, I'd probably never come back and choose this place over another dim sum restaurant. But it IS open late. So I WILL be back. I just know now what to order, and more importantly, what not to.

Had to grab Dim Sum before we head back to the mainland. Luckily, you can always depend on Yelp ratings to help guide you to good restaurants. We came here on a Wednesday at lunch time and it was pretty packed. It's a bit off the path of Waikiki on Kapiolani Blvd. but there were lots of authentic Asian people in the place, so it must be good! We ordered SO much food because we couldn't decide which items to get. We figured it would be a good snack later on. All the food was delicious! Service was attentive but somewhat inconsistent as the place got busy. A couple items from our large order were missing, but they were kind to just cancel it off since it took too long to get to the table and we were already stuffed. It is a bustling place so don't expect a quiet meal. Prices were about average. We would definitely be back to this place next time we are visiting.

Heard from my friend this is a must try place newly opened for 2yrs. We got here around 12:00 on Sun and there were a long line but it was efficiently seated. We waited about 10 mins tops. Services were quick and foods came out hot! There were two of us but we ordered quite a varieties. Pleasant decors and bright. I like the flavors of the food. I also think the price point wasn't bad. We loved the tripe. Lava salted egg custard buns, black bean pork ribs, char shu buns, turnip cakes, soybean curd rolls the best but everything we ordered we liked. Will be back again

Kapiolani Seafood is definitely the place to go if you care about volume. The dim sum portions are huge and you really get a lot for what you pay, so there is strong value there. That said, I do wish there was more focus on quality over quantity. Still, it was enjoyable overall and worth it if you're in the mood for big portions and a filling meal.

Been here for dim sum and also dinner. Really enjoy the food, and dim sum here. Service is good. Prices are on high side. But, the taste is good. Small parking lot, free parking. Kapiolani location, close to First Hawaiian Bank, and Don Quijote. Restroom located inside restaurant. Can request for hot mustard and chili sauce. Highly recommend.

First come first service. They had a table available so we didn't have to wait at all. They have a dim sum check list, mark how orders you want and they bring them out from the kitchen. They don't have rolling carts. The dishes comes out in good time and hot. Burnt my tongue because I couldn't wait to eat! The restaurant is nicely lit with fancy lights. Free parking.

Best dim sum in town! Prices are reasonable, restaurant clean, and they don't skimp on the fillings! Lots of parking available, especially if you go after 2:00 pm. The only downside to going at this time is it is during the employee meal, so only one or two servers are running around while the rest are eating. Not a big deal, but noticeable.

What great dim sum restaurant. The old MW was changed into something amazing. A good dim sum place in town and not downtown. Finally. We were seated immediately. Pictured menus made it easy for me to order. We ordered so much because the price was good. What stood out to me: The fried rice was actually addictive, the pork hash and the shumai were top tier, and the look fun was absolute crack. I can't wait to come back here again.

The bitter melon with black bean sauce I always order it with seafood instead of beef. Delicious!! And my daughter always orders wonton mien or eats dim sum. Good food.

We came here for dinner because the place is known for its seafood and dim sum. The Shanghai pork dumpling was too dry -- no soup inside and a bit of a strong pork smell. Personally, I felt that the salt and pepper Dungeness crab was quite disappointing - however my husband was a big fan But the hargow, shumai, shrimp look fun, and shrimp fried rice were really good. Most of the staff were friendly, but one tall female server was noticeably rude.

Party of two, Came in at 3:30pm to have dim sum. Place was practically empty, but it took a while before we were acknowledged and sat. Bar b q char sui dumplings were lukewarm, spare ribs in black bean sauce was made earlier and heated up. Chicken wings were undercooked, beef ball tasted terrible. The pork and shrimp dumplings were not fresh. The best item was the house special chow mein. Service was slow and unattentive making the ambiance uninviting! I was very disappointed after reading many positive reviews.

Seating was lousy. Went up to sign in and the lady just took the number of people and no name and told us to wait. After 1/2 hour, found out they did not even have us down and so, we have them take our name down again. End up waiting for close to an hour and still have to remind them that we are waiting to have them give service to people came after us in. They need to get their act together. Lots of choices for Dim Sum and taste of food were just okay. Would I go back, the answer is no. Not worth the aggravation and wait. I can find better. Parking is also hit and miss and a bunch of inconsiderate and bad drivers.

This place was ok. We ordered plenty of dimsum. It was not crowded on a Saturday before 11am. Parking lot parking and easy to miss. Food was generally not bad and mediocre.

Yikes! I swore I updated this to a 5-star! After several dining experiences after my initial review, Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant has got me "Drunk Happy!" Their hours are all day now from 9am-9pm (weekend opens at 830am) instead of a short break in the afternoon. The partition wall that was used for the private dining area was removed which really opened from the whole dining area. It feels more bright, spacious, and comfortable. The biggest difference is the dim sum. So many people thought this place was expensive early on, but now that all the other restaurants have raised their prices, Kapiolani Seafood has remained about the same, making it quite affordable. The portions are huge too! Every dish and dim sum were tasty and delicious. -Chicken Feet - Soft, tasty, and tender. -Beef Balls - well prepared, firm but still tender. -Pan Fried Shrimp and Chives Dumplings is my absolute favorite now. Packed with BIG pieces of shrimp and chives. Skin is spot on. -Bean Curd Rolls was amazing. Instant top favorite. Bean curd was soft and super juicy. Filling was packed with shrimp, pork, and other vegetables. -Pan-Fried Chicken Dumplings was yummy. Tasty chicken filling. Excellent wrapper. -Beef Tendon Look Funn Sizzling Pot was good. Tender and tasty tendon and brisket. Needed a little more sauce on this one. -Daily Rice Soup seems like it's always been pork and preserved egg. Delicious! Added a fried dough stick, which was nice and crispy. -Crispy Roll Look Funn is good! Stays crispy! Love the accompanying sauce. -Young Chow Fried Rice was excellent. Stir fried very well with each morsel of rice having flavor and color. Though, fried rice getting kinda pricey? -Stir Fried Chinese Broccoli was good. Nicely prepared broccoli. It was a bit on the salty side, and too much ginger for me, and the slivers of ginger looked too similar to the dried flounder. -Royal Chicken was good. Tender meat. Flavorful ginger/scallion sauce. Nicely presented. Overall, Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant has really turned the corner and provides consistent, quality dim sum with nice portions at reasonable/on-par prices. They must be doing well as it opened a Downtown location (took over the Yong Sing and Mandalay space), a casual Kaneohe location, and a Pearlridge location coming soon. Why does this sound EXACTLY like where Eastern Garden was located back in the day? Service is excellent. Friendly and attentive servers. I must say this dim sum restaurant has vaulted up my list. Can't say it's #1, but super close!

Delightful and grateful to enjoy conversations with dear friends that love dim sum! Free parking, modern ambience and no carts. There's a two sided dim sum menu with pen to write in quantity, and a regular menu at the table. Place all orders with Server. Pork siu mai: moist and flavorful, goes well with dipping sauce. Char siu bao: soft, tender pieces of pork. House dumplings: tasty and great crunch from water chestnuts. Filling falls apart easily. Beef look funn: very flavorful Shrimp look funn: plump and moist. Salted custard bun: eye catching, gold lining steamed bun with savory, custard filling. Smooth transition to desserts. Sweet custard bun: top was less flaky. Filling offered perfect texture and sweetness. Dan tat: Firm, rich custard tart and crust. Slightly burnt at top. Singaporean noodles was very tasty. Ordered entree from regular menu. Staff was very kind and accommodating. Complimentary hot tea served in a pot and glasses of iced water. Staff checked in with us periodically, offered water refills, extra napkins, to go containers, and a reusable handle bag. If driving, enter from Kapiolani Blvd to maximize parking options. First come, first serve only for breakfast and lunch. Reservations accepted in advance for dinner. Next time I'll save some room for congee.

Dang Yeah- Dim Sum ALL DAY LONG! The majority of our favs are here and we don't need to go to Chinatown (especially for parking hassles). They even have my favorite string beans and spicy fish, too. They are fast on service and very attentive. I've been here over a dozen times and it's great alone or with a whole huge party which we do quite often. The vibe here is chill for both locals and visitors. I recommended this place to EVERYONE. I've even did a huge take out for one of my clients. It's our go to especially when it's closer to home so check it out!

Very good dim sum. We had all the basic and they're all delicious. We particular like the fried rice. It's so tasty. They don't take reservation for dim sum but it was not as crowded as we went on a weekday.

Our party of 8 enjoyed dinner tonight at Kapiolani Seafood. I made reservations for 7:15 and our table was ready when we got there a little early at 7:00. Our waitresses were really nice and the service was good! We ordered a lot of food and everything was delicious! The only thing we didn't care for was the super bright lighting. I wish they would change the lighting to make it a little darker so it would be more comfortable in there. But the food was amazing so we would probably go back there when we get the craving for Chinese.

We decided to try out the newly opened Kapi'olani Seafood Restaurant, located at the former site of MW Restaurant. There was a wait list, but we didn't end up waiting very long before we were called. The menu was quite extensive and after a bit, I gave up trying to photograph the entire menu. I was surprised to see "roast crispy pigeon" on the menu. Not a lot of restaurants have this item on the menu. Some items were already sold out, so we had to change our initial dim sum order. Service wasn't the greatest. However, we still enjoyed this meal and would definitely return in the future to try other items on the menu. I uploaded over 10 ++ photos, but they're not showing up with this review.

Nǐ hǎo. Hi. Today's linner is with Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. There's two ways to enter their shared parking lot. One on Kapiolani Boulevard right across Target or Makaloa Street. The restaurant is cleaned and I like the fixtures that they've used to decorate the restaurant. The restaurant is also unusually quiet for a Chinese restaurant. I'm used to loud noises but this place is nice and quiet. I think you'll find it enjoyable to come to this place and be able to hear your parties conversations without having to talk louder;) They have regular menu and dim sum. You decide which you'll have. We ordered from the regular menu because I wanted the Dungeness crabs ;) We ordered: Dungeness crabs with ginger and green onions sauce. They served it with chopped parts on the shell of the crabs. I wish that they cut the crab legs more to easily eat the crab meat. The flavors were gingerly sweet. It was seasoned well. Half order of Peking duck with buns. I'm not a duck fan but it's good. It's better with the bun, oyster sauce and green onions. Steam garlic sauce shrimp. I've never tried this before. This is good. It's sitting on clear noodles and the sauce its mixed in with garlic is sooo yummmmm!!! The ong choy with preserved bean curd is always a must have at any Chinese restaurant. This one is cooked perfectly. It's crunchy. It's not over cooked or undercooked. The flavors on point too. For dessert, we tried the sweet custard buns. It's not flaky, it's sweet but not too sweet, buns soft and chewy. I like it! It's a nice flavor after all the salty and savory flavors from our main dish. Our server, Calvin, is superb! He was thoughtful and consistently checked in if we needed plates, napkins, water, and cleared our tables by transferring our dishes to smaller plates to make space on our tables. Very clean, modern, upscale restaurant and the prices reflect that. Not your standard dim sum place. The tables were also fairly spaced out compared to other Chinese restaurants I love that you can order dim sum for dinner and there's no time limit in which they stop serving it. Tried a few dim sum dishes and a couple entrees. Got the fried seafood bean curd roll, bean curd roll, fried shrimp balls, chicken feet and abalone sticky rice. The bean curd rolls were both great! The abalone in the sticky rice was kinda chewy and overcooked. The chicken feet had a different flavor than the standard black bean flavor I'm used to but it was good. We also got crispy beef noodles and stir fry fish and veggies. The crispy noodles had a lot of gravy on it so the noodles were mostly all soggy . The fish and veggies were good though. Overall, most of the food had great flavor and I would recommend it!

I'm from SF Bay Area so I didn't expect to get the same quality here but I was pleasantly surprised. The dishes were quite good and we enjoyed it. We ordered the typical dishes like har gow, siumai, chicken feet, beef ball, fried shrimp ball, portable spare ribs, sticky rice and all tasted pretty good. The service was good and it seems like a lot of locals come here. Their sister restaurant is Honolulu Seafood Restaurant.

The dim sum portions were a good size. The rice rolls were very well done. Restaurant is clean and service good. We will be back with guests.

A new delicious dimsum place in the old MW space! This place is a little pricey but nothing crazy, plus the portions are all huge so it's well worth it. We found some of the wrappers to be a little thicker than other places, but other than that everything was good. Parking here is difficult (the lot is TIGHT) and it's always very busy inside, even on weekdays, but if you can get in it's worth having a meal

Sunday January 12, 2025. We decided to try here as we were in the area. The food was easy to order as it was by numbers and you marked down the quantity on the order sheet. The food came out shortly after. It looked good and it tasted good too. We ordered too much and ended up taking it home to eat for tomorrow. Eyes bigger than the stomach. Never go to a food place really hungry and this is going to be your first meal for the day. The service was fast and friendly. The ambiance was casual and not needed to dress up unless you want to. There is plenty parking in the lot and street parking is rare. With seafood in the name of the restaurant name. I would think there would be lobster, crab, mussels and so on. They had only shrimp for their seafood dishes. Oh, wells. It was still good.

Another great meal. Tuesday around 1:30. Seated right away. Restaurant was about 1/3 full. Ordered our usual and tried some new dishes: ongchoy in garlic and oil: ton of flavor. Very good Shrimp dumpling with celery: very mild celery flavor with juicy shrimp. Wrapping was chewy like a mochi. We enjoyed this one a lot. Spare ribs in soy: very fatty but had good flavor Steamed egg custard bun: bun was soft with delicious egg filling.

We were choosing between this restaurant and the more traditional (Asian decorations, pushcarts etc) jade dynasty and it was a coin flip that simply came down to who was open earlier since we were time zone adjusting like most Americans here. The name is very appropriate as the dim sum does have a seafood bent to it, the seafood rolls were the highlight for me as they had fresh shrimp and were a little bit crispy but not too greasy like an egg roll or too soggy like a bean curd roll. Also loved the baked custard buns, and menu was solid all around. Super fast service too, when we arrived at 9:05 looked like some folks had ordered and received food already !

Finally got to dine at Kapi`olani seafood. There were 4 of us and we ordered too much food . Chow funn and chow mein, harm siu gok, Jin dui, siu mai, char siu bao, steamed char siu bao, Chow fun roll with shrimp, crispy roll with shrimp, black bean spare ribs, chicken feet, ... Tasty, although there were a few I would not order again. I actually was a bit disappointed in the noodles... I felt they lacked flavor. My favorites were the harm siu gok and Jin dui, Parking is nice, server and service was good.

Came in on a Friday around noon and the place was packed. Lucky us! one last two-top left, and we were seated right away. This isn't your traditional cart-pushing dim sum. You order off a sheet, and everything comes out fresh. The onchoy with bean curd sauce? So good, savory and tender. Chicken feet were solid, no complaints there. But the standout was the shrimp and chive dumplings, so plump, juicy, perfectly balanced. Almost a five-star moment right there. Then the clay pot pork ribs and look fun showed up... and kind of dragged it down. bit bland. Still, overall a strong 4 star

Quality here is a 10/10! Service is also very fast. Honestly this place is better than most of the places that I go to in California.

We got here at 1:30 and waited about 15 minutes. Not too bad for the amount of people waiting ahead of us. The food was really delicious. Shrimp dumplings were excellent, full and plump. Pork has was huge but nothing special. I love the seaweed shrimp rolls. The crispiness without being oily is amazing. The house dumplings had pork, vegetables like zucchini. I enjoyed them. The taro puff was not oily but could have had more filling. The food was delicious but the service was unfortunately not good. When I asked the male worker what is in the house dumplings, I understand it's busy, but he answered very rudely and left because I wasn't ready to order. All I needed to do was find out what was in the dumpling and I was ready. No one came back to us and we said excuse me to someone else who didn't hear us. I walked my check to the worker on the computer to get my order in. I hate waving down people but I had to give a huge arm wave to get an additional order of egg tart. Sadly at 2:30 they ran out egg tart! They open until 9pm and dim sum is all day, so not sure why. I really enjoyed the food. I know dimsum places don't really serve you, but I didn't appreciate how the male worker spoke rudely to me then walked away and never came back to get my order. Not sure I'll be back to this location if there's other ones. I'll probably try the locations instead or take out.

1st time there...the workers at Honolulu Seafood are so nice...same thing here! Aunt did the ordering so way too much food: - Soup - tasty. Baby ate a bunch! - Char siu'd pork belly and jellyfish - THought the pork lacked flavor and was too fatty. But the jelly fish was probs one of the best of the night. Little kick and surprised baby liked that. - Duck in buns - Oh.My.God. Best bao bun I've had. Light and chewy but not too light and chewy. I don't know what it was but delish. Duck good too. Baby ate almost the whole thing. The rest of the duck I didn't taste b/c I was full by the time it came. - Crab - good - Lobster and noodles - little bland. Not enough sauce - Ginger Chicken - The head on the plate turned me off. I don't like birds, so pointing out that it is a bird is not good for me. - Mixed Veggies okay - I really liked the mushroom. - Fried Rice - suuuuper tasty. So full by then, but enjoyed the leftovers. - Tapioca dessert - baby liked that. And the cut oranges. Food was pretty good. What killed me...the phone kept ringing. And it was in the speaker system or something. I was ready to go and answer it myself. Very distracting. That was part of the 1 star that isn't there.
