"Chef Regi Mathew spent about three years travelling across Kerala, speaking to over 250 home cooks and 70 local toddy owners—some of whom are now part of his kitchen team—before setting up Kappa Chakka Kandhari in Nungambakkam, Chennai in 2018." - ByArundhati Ail

Amazing Lunch! We had a bit of a wait since we didn't book a reservation beforehand. But the food we had was absolutely delicious, and decently priced too! Soft Steamed puttu, delectable appams(everyone around us was ordering extra appams too 😆), brilliant curries and fry, and one of the best tender coconut puddings I've had yet. Thanks again to Kala, who was very patient with us and answered all of our questions about the food and our tastes. Definitely worth a try, and I'm sure you'll go back again for more.

I went with my team here for team lunch. The place is very spacious and also there is AC and outdoor seating. The food is good and this was my first time for the this place. I liked few food items and few still need to explore more. The staff is good and also the food presentation was good. We had ordered veg and non veg thali. Overall was good experience. Also do check Zomato to get better deals before going here.

This is a Keral cuisine fine dining restaurant. Their menu is very well made, although not very familiar with Kerala dishes and cuisines, but the menu looks good. Basically they have 2 types, the regular Ala-carte option where you can order a single portion or they offer something called as Tasting Menu which is kind of an assorted selection of dishes. Tried their Ammachi’s Special although they had duck in their menu, I chose to replace it with Chicken. The tasting menu is divided into 3, a beverage (can choose any from the list), 3-4 starter small portions, 2 main dish and then a choice of dessert. Tried their Absolute Kandhari, very nice had a punch of spice and sourness almost like a Toddy (fermented). Star of the day was the final desert - Cloud Pudding, truly amazing. Do not miss that if you have a sweet tooth. Slightly expensive but the dishes seem crafted and tasty as well. 1.2-1.3k per person would be the starting point. Do not miss checking out Zomato for offers. It costed me. 🥲 Service is good and quick. No complaints.

Wowww..... Awesome food. Especially the SPECIALS ( TODDY). Staffs have been very professional and attending very well. Foods such as Toddy special, Ammachi specials, Kappa meenu curry, Puttu mutton special etc finishing your meal by goli soda, and deserts such as Cloud pudding (tender coconut) and Kaanthaari ice-cream. Absolute Kandhari beverage is a kick for the body. Such awesome food and drinks and desserts. The Balcony spot is really good for large group. No alcohol beverages available. Valet Parking available.

Kappa Chakka Kandhari delivered an unforgettable dining experience! I had the Theenmura Sadya, and it was impeccable from start to finish. The flavours were authentic, the presentation was beautiful, and the quality was top-notch. The Syrian Beef Fry was a flavour bomb, the Appam and Duck Mapas was a match made in heaven, and the Borma Bread with Chicken Roast was simply divine. The warm and attentive service added to the charm of the meal. A must-visit spot for anyone who loves authentic, delicious food. Highly recommend!

The highlight of Kappa Chakka Kandhari is its extensive and authentic Kerala menu. Some of the key dishes include: Appetizers: Dishes like the Kappa (tapioca) and beef curry are highly recommended. The appetizers are flavorful and set the stage for the main course. Main Course: The restaurant is renowned for its traditional Kerala fare. The Kappa Biriyani and Meen Pollichathu (fish cooked in banana leaves) are standout items. The curries and stews are rich, well-spiced, and offer a true taste of Kerala. Vegetarian Options: The restaurant offers a variety of vegetarian dishes that are equally impressive. The Avial and Thoran are particularly noteworthy for their authentic flavors and textures. Desserts: Traditional Kerala desserts like Payasam (a sweet, creamy pudding) are a great way to end the meal. They are well-prepared and a perfect conclusion to the dining experience.
