"Kappo Andō was 10 years in the making, but the wait paid off. It occupies a corner site just outside the city centre and is divided into two different areas, with seats available at a dark wood counter, as well as at regular tables in a second room. The décor is a perfect fit for the contemporary Japanese cooking, where flavoursome dishes are underpinned by quality ingredients. The 'yakitori of the day' allows you to enjoy the smoky flavours of meat cooked over binchotan charcoal and they also open twice a month for ‘Yakitori Sunday’. An extensive sake selection adds to the whole experience." - Michelin Inspector

Koan Review - Copenhagen - The Infatuation

"Koan is truly a product of the COVID-19 era. The Danish-Korean pop-up opened after the first round of city-wide lockdowns, only to close again suddenly during the second. Thankfully, it’s found a new home at the former site of Relæ in Nørrebro, a restaurant where head chef Kristian Baumann cut his teeth. The new site has an open kitchen, where you can watch the team delicately plate the tasting menu. While the presentation is refined, the food is ultimately deeply personal, like reading old love letters between South Korea and Denmark, as the head chef seeks to learn more about his home country from his adoptive one while blending cuisines. The tell-tale signs of New Nordic are present, but amongst them are surprising twists like a donut course in place of the typical sourdough bread; scallops from Norway with rice wine and honey truffles; and fjord shrimp dumplings with spicy red Korean peppers." - Sorcha McCrory

Absolutely amazing all around. The food, the atmosphere, the service - everything top notch ✨ loved sitting at the bar and watching the chef working his magic with the dishes. All the dishes tasted amazing, but my favourite was the fish cake served in dashi (Tara shinjo). Thank you for such a wonderful wholesome experience!

Amazing haute cuisine! Very very friendly staff that was able to explain every detail about the menu. We were seated at the counter which was absolutely amazing because we could watch them prepare all the food right in front of us. It is pricey but the food and the atmosphere are worth the money. Would highly recommend.

Henrik Ando took care of us throughout the entire evening and was one of the most attentive and down to earth restaurant co-owners I’ve ever met. He answered all my questions and spoke passionately about the origin of every ingredient. The fish was incredibly fresh, and I will never forget the raw squid, the fillet of fallow deer, and the fried monkfish. One of my favorite food experiences in Copenhagen, and I’ve lived here for 18 years<3.

Great and authentic Japanese experience! My wife and I have over the years spend several months in Japan, and we just love the food and culture there. Kappo Ando successfully captures this essens and delivers delicious foods! Sake, tofu, yakitori, sashimi, miso, yuzu, shitake, karage, meal sets, they have it all! This is not fusion food, where Japanese dishes are translated into non-offensive European versions that taste like nothing. At Kappo Ando all the original Japanese flavours are maintained and you are transported right to Japan. My favorite dishes were the yakitori and the tofu starter, but all the dishes were great. Would recommended! The staff is professional and welcoming, the setting is modern and very Japanese, and the food is great. I still have to find out what that movie poster for a tentacle monster movie was all about 🤔😜

Slightly slow start into this evening. Once things started rolling it was an absolutely memorable night - some dishes bordering on an out-of-body experience. The sake/wine pairing was excellent as well. Highly recommended!

Google
Thus offers a delightful dining experience with a well-crafted menu and the option to add extra dishes, which is a great touch. I chose to add tuna sashimi, which was incredibly fresh and delicious. Among the dishes on the menu, I particularly enjoyed the Braised pork belly and vegetables in a marinade, which had a perfect balance of flavors and textures. On the other hand, the dish that impressed me the least was the thinly sliced beef, which I found somewhat lacking in character. The staff was warm and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. However, the service was quite slow at times, with long waits between certain courses, which slightly disrupted the flow of the meal. That being said, the value for money is excellent, and despite the slow service, I will definitely return to explore more of their specialties.

Michelin guided. However for Japanese food standards, not there yet. But the service is excellent!
