It's great to finally see this place open. As you might have heard, this is only phase one of what the place will eventually become which I think is pretty exciting. It's a great open air spot with lots of firepits and a couple of yard games right now but in the future who knows? It feels like you're hanging out in a backyard while enjoying some fresh poured Strauss beers. No TVs running so not the best option to catch a sports game, but say you just wanna focus on meaningful conversation, this will do nicely. My favorite part of visiting twice so far, the staff is super friendly. That goes a long way when you've got so many brewery options in North County. They close at 8 which is pretty early so just be aware of that if you decide to visit.

Karl Strauss Outpost provides a dog-friendly outdoor space with abundant parking and plenty of room for family activities. Their offerings include a diverse selection of beer, seltzer, and kombucha to suit various tastes. During my visit, I tasted the Pescado, Veggie, and Beef Barbacoa Tacos from their food truck, served in pairs. While satisfying, these tacos didn't leave a remarkable impression. Recognizing their status as a newer establishment, Karl Strauss Outpost has plans for forthcoming improvements that could elevate the experience. The staff members were friendly and provided good service, fostering a pleasant environment for visitors. I particularly enjoyed engaging in conversation with some of the staff members. In conclusion, Karl Strauss Outpost holds promise with its expansive outdoor setting and beverage offerings. However, refining the food experience could contribute to an even more enjoyable visit in the future.

A welcome addition to the San Marcos beer scene! Can’t think of a better set up for the kids. Certainly a beer garden in its truest form. Permanent kitchen and restrooms to come, which will certainly step it up a level. Food truck last call around 7.

Our casual go to never disappoints and they finally!! have table service again yay! Favorite brews by far, food is very good, servers and beer tenders are always so friendly and on it. Only complaint is in winter it’s always so open and Arctic making it a less than desirable environment for this reptile to hang around and drink cold bevvies in. Doesn’t keep me away though, 20+ year customer!

Very cool outdoor setup that is a departure from the typical KS brewery restaurants. Menu is fairly small but the food was good. It's exclusively Mexican, but has a variety of options between tacos, burritos, nachos, and some other stuff. They have a wide range of KS beers on tap and cans/bottles to go. Lots of tables and seating with a mix of umbrellas and open air seating. They also have a couple of cornhole boards. Overall a great place to grab lunch on a sunny afternoon or just relax on a warm evening.

Great place!!! Location is fantastic!!! Especially when you live in San Marcos. I may be biased.

I attended the indie maker's market this weekend. The beer was super cold. The lines moved quickly and there were quite a few cool vendors. The food was yummy and Christian is the best! He is friendly and provides Excellent customer service. We'll be back.

A backyard vibe. 100% outdoor seating with benches, umbrella's, propane fire pits and towers, and a catering truck. It's perfect for mellow weather. Come summer you will need way more shade. Mesh sails or pergolas would be great. Staff is helpful and friendly. Close to the freeway.i did not eat so can't comment on the food. Beers on tap are cold and there's a good variety. Would recommend some NA, kombucha, hop water options. Will be back. Would recommend.
