I am beyond disappointed with our experience at Karma Sushi. We chose this spot for our anniversary, expecting the high-end dining experience they charge for, but the service and food quality completely ruined our special night.
The issues began immediately. It took 15 minutes to even meet our server. We were given water but no straws, and we were never even asked if we wanted to order cocktails or sake. After watching multiple tables arrive after us, order, and receive their food, we finally managed to place our order: appetizers, a roll, some nigiri, and a sashimi platter that included miso soups. I specifically requested that the courses be staggered so we could enjoy the meal.
Instead, our server vanished for 30 minutes. My water glass sat empty despite being placed prominently to signal for a refill. When the server finally reappeared, he had no idea where our food was. Five minutes later, every single item—from the soups to the entrees—was dropped on the table at once.
The quality was just as poor as the timing:
The Roll: It was unappetizing and clearly sat under a heat lamp or on a counter for far too long. The mayo topping was separating and looked completely unappealing. It was inedible.
The Sashimi: The food runner couldn’t identify the fish, and since our server never returned, I had to eat "blind." Some of it was okay, but much of it was poor quality; I ended up leaving nearly half the platter untouched.
When I finally flagged the server down to ask for the check, he barely acknowledged the plates of untouched food or the fact that the kitchen ignored the request to stagger the courses. He offered a dismissive "oh, sorry about that" and disappeared again.
For a "higher-end" establishment in Flagstaff, this was an absolute failure. I paid a premium price for a ruined anniversary. I will be seeking a refund and will not be returning.
