The 7 Best Japanese Bakeries In London - London - The Infatuation

"Katsute 100 is a Japanese tearoom in Angel that’s so peaceful—all mismatched wood and wonky ceramics—we almost want to shield its eyes from the nearby Blank Street Coffee. Shoppers swap the bustle of Camden Passage for the pretty garden out back, book-readers perch on wooden stools picking at not-too-sweet Mont Blanc tarts, and the front windows are primed for people-watching while sipping nutty hojicha lattes." - sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley

Katsute 100 - Review - Islington - London - The Infatuation

"Katsute 100 is a Japanese tearoom in Angel that’s so peaceful—all mismatched wood and wonky ceramics—we almost want to shield its eyes from the nearby Blank Street Coffee. Shoppers swap the bustle of Camden Passage for the pretty garden out back, phones are pocketed, book-readers perch on wooden stools and pick at impressive matcha crêpe cakes, and the front windows are primed for people-watching while sipping nutty hojicha lattes. Come midweek to guarantee a seat, and order the not-too-sweet Mont Blanc tart. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute Food Rundown Mont Blanc Tart Katsute 100’s tart is much less sweet than the versions you might be used to from a French patisserie, and leans more heavily on the natural earthy sweetness of the chestnuts, which we like. The purée is smooth and glossy, and the sponge light and airy. It’s perfect with a cup of coffee. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Matcha Crepe Cake It might be their signature cake, but impressive layering aside, we’ve found this dessert to be hit and miss. There’s been too much powdery matcha on occasion which has made it unpleasant to eat. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Sinéad Cranna

Popped into this Japanese cafe on a Sunday morning in late June. It being a Japanese tea room we wanted authentic Japanese tea. Got hojicha and matcha. They were good. Don't think they do a gyokuro anymore. On display were pretty cakes that were appealing. The matcha crepe cake, strawberry shortcake and matcha cheesecake looked nice. Other popular options seem to be the matcha basque cheesecake, Sakura mochi and daifuku. Follow here and the IG link in profile for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews!

The staff are so nice. The matcha latte is creamy but not matcha enough. The matcha layered cake tastes really good, though the layers are a bit too thick.

Loved the Matcha Crepe Cake! It was very authentic and rich in flavour. The price is on the higher side, but it’s a nice treat to enjoy every now and then. The staff were polite and helpful, and the cosy environment made it the perfect place to catch up with a friend.

Lovely Japanese cafe in Angel. The queue could be long but it’ll move. There are ample seats in the back yard. It is a lovely place for a catch up with friends. The matcha latte is unsweetened. It is yummy! The matcha crepe cake is a bit dry on the outside, but still delicious. If you miss Japan, come here to enjoy the matcha products.

Lovely Japanese tea room, with big selection of teas, coffee and matcha. They make amazing deserts! The place is small but cozy, having a nostalgic atmosphere. There is also a garden, nice for warm days. Staff is very sweet and friendly. The deserts are delicious! I tried the strawberry shortcake, it was so fresh and not very sweet! I enjoyed my Yuzu oolong tea, which you can refill with hot water. Will return!

Katsute 100 is one of my favorite cafes in London. The inside is really cosy and welcoming, the matcha cheesecake and matcha latte have an amazing taste. I strongly recommend !!

This chain Japanese cafe is located on Angel Street and is very easy to find, just a 7-10 mins walk from the tube station. The interior is a bit narrow, and the seating can feel quite cramped. We ordered a black sesame latte, black sesame cake, MontBlanc cake, matcha crepe cake, matcha latte, and white ale. While the two black sesame items were somewhat average—lacking a strong sesame flavor—the other dishes were excellent and definitely worth recommending. However, the staff could improve their friendliness, as they didn’t seem very welcoming. Overall, it’s a nice spot with some great desserts!

feels like im back in japan. the tea selection is excellent, specifically the Ama cha, really blew my mind. fave cake is the mont blanc, not too sweet, easy balance of chestnut to cream, but the crust was a bit hard. the garden was super spacious in the back with a maple tree!
