BY FAR the best matcha in London. and i think I’ve tried almost every big one. nothing even competes. Blank Street type matcha has it’s place, but this is a whole different level. i always get the iced strawberry matcha latte, but they have hojicha lattes and matcha flat whites that I’m excited to try. and a whole range of other teas (including sobacha), and whisky (??) though I’ve not gone there yet. great desserts too (they clearly use good powder in the matcha brownie too)! IMO the rating should be way higher than a 4.2. atmosphere 🍁: so cute and cosy!! reminds me of a diorama i had as a kid. lots of seating, both inside and a beautiful garden with Japanese maple outside. the staff are so kind and polite too, even when there is a big rush.

Nice Asian bakery near to Angel station underground. They have a good selection of desserts and good matcha. Very nice outside oriental garden but unfortunately very noisy because of kids… We will be back, thank you.

Everything is perfect, from their crepe cake to all the Japanese small treats and ceremonial matcha. My must go for Japanese dessert and cake for celebration. Highly recommend.

I love Islington and always stay there when i visit London. The place is usually packed so i went on monday right after they had opened up. I had the place all to myself to enjoy. They have ceremonial matcha Seian, which i get to drink at home often to enjoy and support my zazen practice. So i ordered Seian matcha, which was the real deal and was prepared and served according to the old times. I don't like the newer trendy matcha drinks with milk, syrups and sugar, so i always go for the ceremonial matcha. I did enjoyed my matcha and the service a lot. It was a real delight. I will come again for sure when i visit London again. Thank you!

A must-visit spot if you’re missing the taste of authentic Japanese desserts, which are typically more mild in flavor. They even offer black sesame desserts, which are quite rare to find in London. The wooden interior creates the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese tea house. Perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon.

Lovely cheesecake and delicious matcha here. Staff is amazing. I got lots of work done in this cafe. It does get quite busy but there are always seats outside

I’ve been here a few times and always enjoyed the drinks and cakes. Price is a bit high though. The interiors are really cute. It’s a nice cafe for catching up with friends or on a date.

Their sweets were too tempting to pass by as a Japanese tourist who usually don't have an easy access to authentic Japanese sweets and tea (other than self-made). Yes, I agree it's pricey and I'd also wish they are a bit more reasonable. However, once I tasted their matcha crepe cake and hoji cha, I regreted no more. They were so lovely together! I guess majority of clients go for matcha latte type of drinks but the shop also serves a nice pot of various Japanese teas that are worth a try. Good thing about making a pot for some teas is you can enjoy a couple of times as you refill the hot water (ask them which teas they recommend for re-fill). They have bottles of hot water ready for this purpose. I guess not all the teas may be suitable to re-fill, but second and third pots of hoji cha still taste clear and robust, and they enhanced the tender and creamy flavour of matcha crepe tea. A special time for oneself, which is all about tea... Enjoy!
