Kawa 18 Ramen

I’ve driven past this establishment several times and I finally had the chance to dine here. I hate to admit it, but the food was just ok. The broth at the end had a certain taste to it and I couldn’t finish it off. The ramen noodles themselves were good, the portion was very generous, and the chicken was very tasty. So overall the plate wasn’t horrible, but the broth really turned me off. The Thai tea was good, but the boba itself was old. They were hard and I couldn’t eat them, which sucks since I believe they charge for it. The service was very good though. The girl at the counter was very friendly and provided exceptional service. I do like that they have a self serve water station, but please keep it full if people are in the restaurant 😅.

This was disgusting . Pork was tough and chewy, noodles have a weird taste. I couldn’t even finish it. The only good thing was tbe eggs. The Bro was barely passable that was $14 wasted I will never go back to this place again. Oh my God I have to go brush my teeth. I’m not even exaggerating.

Waited an extra 20 minutes and got the smallest portion of food after they specifically said that they gave extra for the wait. I’ve been here about 7 times and never got a portion this bad until now. Makes sense why they’re selling the place, they aren’t good at what they do anymore …

It was 12pm on Sunday, Jan 4. I was looking forward to having a bowl of ramen. I showed up and noticed that the lights inside the establishment were off. I tried the door. It was locked and no one was inside. I look at Kawa 18's business hours notice pasted next to the front door. It said "Sun 11:00am to 9:30pm". Therefore, they should be already opened for business for an hour. What a pity. I checked Kawa 18's website. There were no announcements that it would be closed on Sunday, Jan 4. That mean Kawa 18 lied about their business hours, or maybe they were lazy. I do not recommend this place.

The first time I ate here, the food was absolutely amazing— as you can see in the first picture everything was cooked to perfection. I would’ve given it a solid 10. But when I returned two weeks later, the experience was completely different. The food didn’t look or taste the same at all. Maybe there was a different cook that day, but I don’t like that kind of inconsistency. I expect the same quality every time I go. Oh and they mixed up our pork and chicken. Meaning the chicken broth had pork meat, and the pork broth had chicken meat To make things worse, a woman came in and ordered the same dish I did—I’m certain because I heard her say it. But her plate was packed with way more veggies and meat. She even went behind the counter and made her own food, which makes me wonder if she was a family member or a friend of the staff. Either way I give them a 6 out of 10 give it a try for yourself, you may like it!

If you’re hungry for ramen, this is not the place to go. The food was not good, and the broth had a weird taste. They put un-breaded fried chicken in their noodle bowls, which is even more off putting. They also don’t let you swap out the veggies in the bowl. The restaurant atmosphere is decent. The customer service was meh, and the food is not good at all.

Ramen was great. Not many options but flavorful. One thing i like about ramen is the spice level 11. This place seemed to only have spice level 6.

Miso Red was amazing with a Thai bubble tea. I will be back to try more from their menu.

Chicken tonkatsu ramen was tasty and hit the spot on a cold and rainy night. Servers could be more engaging, but we'll definitely be back to try their other offerings the next time we're in town.

Hidden gem! Friendly welcoming service. The cashier advised us on options.. took everyone's order, gave us table numbers and within 10 mins, our meal was served. The restaurant was clean including the restroom and the atmosphere was easy.. my daughter has vegetable ramen and I had spicy miso. WOW! Impressive flavor! Hot and fresh! I definitely recommend! We will be back !

I ate here today for the first time. I had the Ramen Miso Black w/chicken, and Pork Gyoza. The dumplings were good, but the Ramen was delicious! Loved the presentation and the flavors. And it was very filling. Service was delightful. The waitress/cashier was young yet attentive and very polite. She had great energy and a very pleasing attitude. Small restaurant with a pleasant ambiance. Place was clean and clean restroom. Price was very reasonable. $$ Highly recommend

This little hole in the wall has some tasty dumplings and quick service. Order at the counter and within 10 minutes you have a steaming hot bowl of ramen, Japanese curry, dumplings, and spring rolls at the table. The curry has a little bite from the masala guram spice, and the crispy chicken under all that yummy curry gravy can be sopped up with some rice. They could have given a little more rice for the dish. The tonkontsu ramen has great flavor for the broth, but the noodles are the star here. They just needed to add a little more of them to the dish! The fatty pork chiashu was very fatty but still grilled up nicely. The gyoza dumplings were simple and a great appetizer portion. The spring rolls were vegetarian and our friend who ordered them said they tasted good.

We took our order of curry, tonkatusu ramen, and karage to go. After 1-2 hours of traveling, our food was still warm and was exactly what we needed after a long travel day. I was most impressed by the chew of the karage and in depth rich flavor of the ramen toppings and broth. The noodle texture weren't to my preference but we're still good! Would go again when we come back to ATL!

First of all, the restaurant has simple, but trendy decor that makes it Feel more upscale for the area. Service was extremely friendly and the order came quickly...plus, PIPING HOT!! Prices were comparable to other ramen shops I have been to in Atlanta. I had the Miso red with Chicken ramen and Vegetable spring rolls. The highlights of the ramen we're definitely the spice level and the crunchy corn. Paired with the delicious springy noodles. Overall, it was the perfect lunch and might I say this is probably the "BEST" ramen I've had in awhile. Will definitely return when I'm in the area.

I was eating my food and found a bug in it and they wouldn't even give me mymoney back they said it was a mushroom.

I ordered take out from this restaurant and I was extremely impressed not only by the quality of the food, but how fast I received my food after ordering. It was pretty incredible. I ordered the ramen and the Japanese curry. Both were delicious, but I liked the Japanese curry more. To drink, I ordered the sweet tea. Definitely a lovely ramen place to go. My only thing that I wish they had done was provide me with utensils in my bag. It was a bit unfortunate, but not something that would detract from my experience.

Decided to try some authentic ramen and found this gem 7-min from our house. The parking is in a plaza so it wasn't bad at all. When went on a Friday afternoon and no one was there. The ambiance of the place is beautiful. It's neat and clean with some music videos on the tv. The customer service was good, the waitress was nice. Our food came out in less than 15-min and was steaming hot. The broth was delicious, that best we'd ever had. The mango boba tea is definitely a top tier pick. All in all, we had a nice experience and will definitely be back.

Customer service was very good. Ambiance was trendy clean and had a good amount of space. It's not too crowded but also not that big. I ordered the pork dumplings, shrimp spring rolls, 6 piece wings, and peach boba tea. When I think of ramen I assumed that they would have a larger selection of meats other than just pork or chicken so I was underwhelmed to try theirs. All the appetizers I did try was bland & I really hate to say that because the staff was so nice but my God I am so disappointed. Shrimp spring rolls should have had bigger pieces of shrimp chopped and some small but it was all lumped together in a mushy consistency very bland even with the duck sauce nothing was saving that dish. I've had better spring rolls from the freezer section at the grocery store. The pork dumplings were fried good and was so fresh but again had no seasoning. The local Chinese restaurant has better pork dumplings than that and the sauce was also not good. The fried chicken was supposed to be the star of the show but once again not a lick of seasoning. The wings was fried so perfect it broke my heart to bite into it and taste nothing. The only thing that saved it was the fact that they had hot sauce but some lemon pepper would have been nice. Preferably a better choice of sauces over all would be nice. The star of the show was indeed my peach boba tea. It was absolutely delicious and worth the try. The place had plenty of patrons supporting their business so please don't let me deter you from trying but keep in mind my concerns because I wish I had known. This is the first time I've been disappointed with this cuisine. Doesn't taste authentic and can't taste the love in the details of the food. Everything just seems thrown together and rushed out.

Service was delightful. Great ambiance. Food was full of flavor!! I order the person behind the desk's favorite dish so I don't remember exactly what it is. I know I want it again though!!

I don't feel that there are any Ramen establishments south of I-20 but I was craving so I decided to search Google again and this one came up with good reviews. Its in a non-descript strip mall. There's seating for groups of 2-4. There was a TV playing music videos. The place was clean and the staff was very pleasant. I shared it was my first time and she was patient with my order. Its a simple restaurant with good options. I was glad to see the kale noodles. My food came quickly and was good. I took my leftover broth home and ordered extra noodles to go. It wasn't the best ramen I've had but I'm willing to try again

I was so excited when I found out that there's a ramen place closer to me. So of course I rushed right over! I think this place may be family owned also. The girl at the register was so nice and so were the two I saw. It's just a very warm and welcoming environment. I wish I had more time to sit inside because I loved the ambiance. The broth was delicious. The noodles were perfect. The egg was, which is one of my favorite parts about ramen, was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The only thing I was disappointed about was the pork. I paid for extra pork but it was definitely a regular portion, also the pork was a bit tough. Other than that, I'd definitely try this place out again. It was pretty good. Also, This was my first time having cabbage in ramen and it was actually pretty good. I also got the brown sugar boba and it did NOT make it home. It was soooo good and sweet!

I was so excited to try this place until I walked in. I was not welcomed and when I walked to the cashier at the register I was met with awkward silence. I left as I did not feel welcomed at all.

My first time here and it was outstanding. 10/10. The food is delicious and the place is cozy. The chef/I believe owner seems very genuine and respectful. I highly recommend this place if you are in the mood for some good ramen.

The southside has always been plagued with slim pickings in terms of restaurants that aren't chains like McDonalds, Zaxby's, Wendy's, etc. It was only a couple of years ago that we got boba and even more recent -- a Korean BBQ spot. Now we've got ramen. This place is a small little spot tucked in a strip that sits besides Pho Dai Loi #1 on Jonesboro Rd. There are a decent amount of tables -- both regular and high tops as well as a counter attached to the wall for extra seating. The décor is simple with lots of wood. The light fixtures are very nice as well! The customer service was nice (employees very kind and sweet), the menu is simple with your choice of either tonkotsu or miso ramen each having three different spice levels (both having the choice of either pork or chicken). They have ramune (japanese soda), bottled tea, soda, and milk tea. I ordered the gyoza (a good snack, but I would skip this and maybe try the shrimp tempura next time) and the chicken karaage. The karaage I actually recommend because the portion size is really decent for an appetizer, has nice spices that you can taste throughout, and the chicken is juicy and crispy. I ordered the Pork Tonkotsu Red and my friend got the Miso Red. The ramen broth was flavorful, not too thick. The noodles were definitely nice, the eggs were boiled perfectly. The chashu for my pork tonkotsu was essentially just a very thin turkey bacon like slice of pork belly, so it was definitely a little disappointing when compared to the thicker chashu cuts you get from more popular ramen spots in the Atlanta area. I also ordered a garlic oil that I thought would be a good addition but it really just tasted of plain oil with maybe an afterthought of garlic. We also got the Chicken Curry Rice just to give it a try, and the flavor of curry is very strong which pairs well with the plain white rice. Not sure if I'm right, but I'm pretty sure the chicken they use is just the karaage from the appetizer menu. My only suggestions would be to maybe have thicker chashu even if it's just slightly so. Also, I love spicy food, and when I tried my friend's broth (exponentially spicier than mine) and inquired about it, I was told that the Miso Red is actually the spiciest one. So, maybe have some sort of spice level indicator alongside each so patrons looking for something extra spicy will know which to get instead of simply having "Red Hot Chili Oil". All in all, it's a really good spot to get your ramen fill here on the southside without breaking the bank or having to deal with I-75/85 traffic. Give it a try, support this spot so we can keep others like it, and here's to the southside getting some good food!

My boyfriend and I were in the mood for ramen so we stumbled across Kawa 18 Ramen. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and I love that the offers boba tea but unfortunately the machine was down when we went. I'm allergic to all seafood and seaweed so I was a little nervous because previous ramen places I've visited made all of there dishes with seafood in them. We both ordered ramen and in the spirit of trying something new, my boyfriend ordered narutomaki since we had never heard of it before. We asked the lady taking our order if seafood was in anything we ordered because of my allergy and she told us no. When our food was served to us I tasted my ramen and it was okay. It was a little bland. My boyfriend then asked me to taste his and the narutomaki... the moment he placed the narutomaki on my tongue I knew something was wrong... I looked narutomaki up and to my despair we discovered it is FISH CAKE! I immediately had to leave and take allergy medicine to prevent going into anaphylactic shock. We took the food home with us but just ended up throwing it away... I understand that maybe we should have double checked all the food we ordered but the staff should have known what narutomaki was and immediately told me I couldn't have it since I told her about my allergy. Thank goodness I realized something was wrong before swallowing or I would have ended up in the hospital!

Nice to see a ramen spot on the south side! I ordered the Tonkotsu Black pork ramen with a hot oolong tea. Friendly service, flavorful ramen and super clean, cozy restaurant. The noodles weren't the kind I normally get from other ramen spots and I was expecting the tea to be loose leaf (I should've asked) but otherwise it was a really lovely lunch. I believe it's still a newer business so I hope the community supports!

This place is amazing. The broth along could be bottled and sold. I love the red pork tonkatsu is by far the best I've had in the metro Atlanta area. I go at least twice a week but it's that good

The curry and the noodles were pretty good and flavorful. A hidden gem. Service 5/5. The inside is pretty cute. They have tables for 1,2, and more.

Terrible customer service, from not greeting you when you walk in, to not accommodating your customers when YOU get the order wrong. The short Hispanic woman who working Feb 25, between the hours 3-5 had the nastiest attitude I've ever seen in a service based business. When you're treated like your money not good enough for them. Don't waste your time here

I don't know if I got a bad batch or I have been to so many better ramen places than this. Everything seemed bland especially the broth.

there was half of a tiny roach in my udon and it was dead I think I might I've ate the other half unless it's just swimming in there

I called a large order here at this restaurant during the week for a pick up. They got everything right. They even labeled every single order accurately. I was very impressed. They even made the drinks only when I got there because they didn't want the ice to dilute the drink. Very thoughtful. The ramen was tasty. The egg was done wonderfully. Very impressive. This restaurant is about a month old. I'm going back for sure. Happy that there is a Ramen shop in the south. Thank you. Everyone who ordered said it was very good.

I was so surprised to find this gem in Forest Park! I usually have to go to Atlanta to eat Japanese Ramen, but I was so happy to find this place. The restaurant is very clean! When I walked in I smelled cleaning products immediately. I prefer smelling the food when I walk into a restaurant, but it was nice to know that I was walking into an establishment that was hygienic. The menu is short and sweet, I liked the fact that I could add my own toppings to help enhance the flavor. The toppings are an extra charge. I really enjoyed my food . The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the broth was so delicious! It was a perfect balance in flavor.

Was not very impressed with the Tonkotsu, it had a strange, slightly bitter taste. I asked about sauces that you can help yourself to, the cashier couldn't answer. Threw most of the Ramen out after a few bites. May try it again when they aren't close to closing.

A hidden gem in forest park. The food is great, and they accommodate to guests who don't usually eat certain items in a ramen dish. The place is small but the its good to go if you wanna have some personal time with yourself or your significant other!

Wow. I found this family owned mom/pop ramen shop. Cam, I believe is the owner was so nice and accommodating. This is one of the best ramen places I've had and it's right here in Jonesboro! A true hidden gem. I would highly recommend their tonkatsu red ramen. It has a little spicy but it definitely adds to the flavor. The broth isn't overbearingly rich which is my favorite thing. It's perfect that you get to taste the all the additional ingredients they put in such as the sprouts, mushrooms, corn, etc. I want to keep coming here so stop by when in the Forest Park area or come out here and support them!

Ordered the pork ramen to go and dumplings to go. The broth was still hot 30 minutes after take out. Simply delicious and filling. I couldn't eat it all in one sitting and look forward to finishing off the left overs. Will definitely visit again.

I ordered black Tonkotsu yesterday. I came back again to try Miso. I think Miso is better taste.because the noodles match with Miso taste. Gyoza is Chinese fried dumplings. The taste is ok, but it is different from Japanese Gyoza.

It was a nice atmosphere. Very clean place. Staff was very friendly. The chicken wings had a Asian spice seasoning to it. Both Ramen dishes were flavorful, the chicken pieces in the ramen were tender. Will come back again!

Even though it's really the only ramen in the area, it's still REALLY good. Small place but great decor. There is really only 2 types of Ramen, tonkotsu and miso, but they are both great. The only knock against it is a lack of variety. If they had more, I'd probably go every week. As of know, I go once or twice a month. Definitely get an extra egg. It's delish!

Only wanted ramen, and could not shake the craving... so I went with the closest to me which is not always wisest BUT this is some of the best ramen I've had anywhere.. got the miso black which came with all the fixins and a soy egg I wish I could eat over again then I got a Thai tea to go and couldn't be more satisfied and ready to come back. The staff was super friendly and seemed family owned too which is always great! Thanks kawa!

New place in SW Atlanta. Good customer service and takeout food was hot. Ramen was decent, not the best I ever had but will certainly due in an area of the city where you can't find ramen.

I had it delivered. The Tonkotsu Black was absolutely delicious. I definitely loved that it wasn't too much broth. I will definitely be eating here again.

Out of towner was in the mood for some ramen if you don't know what your looking for you will pass it , The ramen was good hit the spot on a cold day but the chicken karaage did it for me would recommend it to anyone looking for something different than regular fast food

Tucked away in a very quiet plaza in Forest Park, Ga south side of ATL. I love having lunch here. Quiet and peaceful to eat without a crowd of people. Ramens are delicious very flavorful.

Ok, so I had a craving for ramen this evening and did a quick Google search and came across this hidden gem!!! This is literally the only place you can get authentic ramen on the south side of Atlanta, but that isn't the only reason I will be frequenting this spot. The owners are so nice and the service is great! I got takeout, but you can definitely dine in. It's small, but comfortable and clean! They also have 2 TVs for to watch while you wait. The takeout packaging was very nice and durable. The also have really nice dishes for the food if dining in (I was looking at the tables being served). I ordered chicken wings, dumplings, Tonkotsu Red ramen & Miso Black Ramen. You get the same toppings just different broths (you may also add additional toppings. I enjoyed both broths equally, but my husband preferred the Tonkotsu. The chicken wings and dumplings were really good too! For dessert, I decided to get an Iced Taro Boba tea and it was good too! I will definitely be going back when my ramen cravings kick in!

Highly recommended. Fast service, clean interior and tasty food. The owners were very nice. It's good to have a ramen shop in South Atlanta!

The restaurant was clean and the staff were great. The food was ok, I've been to many ramen spots so I can say that their ramen was not as flavorful as other places I've been. The Thai tea was not as sweet as I'm used to. The kids enjoyed the bubble tea.

This restaurant is a TRUE GEM nestled in an otherwise aged industrial area. The Pork Gyoza (fried dumplings) and Chicken Tonkotsu (ramen bowl) are by far the best I've ever had, and better than most meals I've had in Atlanta or Buckhead. Give this little gem of a restaurant a try-- you won't be disappointed.

Ordered delivery. Bowls were good and service was quick. Prices were reasonable. I had enough for two meals.
