The staff at KC Thai is very friendly, and the food is absolutely amazing. I especially appreciate the quality of the fried items. Unlike many Asian restaurants where you can sense or smell bad, old oil, everything at KC Thai comes out super golden and perfectly crispy. It's clear they use fresh oil for every dish. I truly love everything I've tried here!

Delicious! Friendly staff, quick, and efficient! The Crab Rangoon were yummy, crispy, and the dipping sauce is homemade. The Chicken Pad Thai was hot, fresh, and perfect amount of noodles and protein. We will definitely be back. The decor is fresh and bright.

This place is a gem! Our family had a great time dining here. The ambience is great and the place is super clean and looks new. The service is good and our order came very fast. The food was AMAZING! Fried ice cream looked beautiful and tasted sooo delicious. Only thing is, the portion sizes are a bit small. Overall, it was a great Thai cuisine experience and we will surely visit again.

The Thai boat noodle soup was absolutely fabulous. Thai chicken wings were clutch. The Lao papaya salad was good and they got the thai spice perfect! Highly recommend. I have been to two other Thai places in the Overland Park area… This is the one that stands out amongst them. Oh, and the food came out surprisingly quick, hot and tasty.

This is the best Thai restaurant in Kansas City area! Our son ordered curried fried rice with pork. I had the same except I had beef. My wife had the yellow curry with pork rice and Penny ragoon. Our daughter had the Thai orange chicken with broccoli and bell peppers. Also my children had the thai tea. Presentation was amazing!!!!! The atmosphere is beautiful. This could be a cozy date night area. The last thing that is up most important is how they treated my wife and family. I can tell you they are LGBTQIA FRIENDLY. I would recommend this restraunt to anyone looking for good flavor, a good time, an awesome experience.

Nice restaurant, good service, attentive staff, enjoyed the food very much as well. They were able to accommodate us on low/no sugar added to our dishes and flavors were still good.

Everything was very good! Rainy did a good job as our server! Enjoyed the hot and sour soup. I would get it hot instead of medium spice next time for a little more kick! Treasure bags were different and good! Have yellow Sen Mee for entry, also very good! Overall, good find!

We went three times with my husband. Anytime we go staff is very friendly and caring. They are the best Thai restaurant in Kansas. We loved everything we tried over here till now. Appreciate for the service.

They have the real deal crispy pork belly grapow! I learned of this dish from a friend who is from Thailand and said this was his favorite dish but few places do it right and take the 3 days to prepare it. Restaurant is very clean, service was friendly.

After volunteering at the PetSmart Olathe dog adoption event, I had built up quite an appetite and decided on carryout from KC Thai in Overland Park. This spot is part of Chef Penny and her husband's restaurant group, which also includes Thai House in KC, plus Bamboo Penny's and Aqua Penny's in Leawood. I ordered the Freestyle Fried Fish -- crispy flounder with fresh steamed vegetables, rice, and a choice of basil, red curry, or sam-rod sauce. I went with the sam-rod, and wow... tangy, savory, umami goodness. I could bathe in it. The fish was hot and crisp, the carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower were fresh and flavorful (and I don't even like vegetables usually). If I'm nitpicking, I'd prefer the veggies diced or julienned, but that's just personal preference. They smartly packed the sauce separately so the fish stayed crispy -- honestly, I'd even want it served that way when dining in so I can add as much as I like. I also got the Pork Thai Fried Rice, which was perfect -- fresh, well-balanced with egg and cucumber, and full of flavor without being doused in soy sauce. Price-wise, KC Thai is a sweet spot: cheaper than Bamboo Penny's, with larger portions, and only slightly more than Thai House but better quality and taste (in my opinion). They have daily lunch specials too. On my list for next time: papaya salad (neighbor swears by it), Thai sausage, Moo Ping (pork skewers), and Khai So. If those dishes are as good as what I had today, KC Thai might officially replace Pad Thai Restaurant as my go-to Thai spot for taste, quantity, and value.

Delicious as always with amazing service! The restaurant is clean, casual, but definitely nice. We always feel welcome.

Went here for lunch and loved it. We tried the red curry, green curry, and the KC Treasure Bags -- all really flavorful and just the right portion size for lunch. Service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant was spotless. Perfect spot if you want a tasty Thai meal that doesn't take up your whole lunch hour. Definitely coming back.

UPDATE - Love this place and it's always a pleasure to come here. We ordered the appetizer combo with comes with 4 dipping sauces, the satay alone was worth it. We also had the pad kee mao and the freestyle fried fish. Both were outstanding. Huge portions, great service and competitive prices in a simple but elegant atmosphere. Highly recommended.

KC thai is one of th best Thai restaurants in KC. They are also very accommodating to people who need gluten free! Staff is also wonderful! Lots of parking. 5 stars delicious! Green curry was the favorite!

A friend asked me to meet her here for lunch. She comes often and knows I enjoy Thai food. I ordered chicken pad Thai, the lunch sized portion was $12.95 and was enough to make a meal without leftovers. I asked for medium and it was pleasantly spicy. Fresh, hot, well sauced, I was very satisfied! I would have liked to be able to pay a few dollars to add a cup of soup, or a side salad. My friend chose the appetizer platter which I think was about $15. It wasn't enough to make a meal of, but would be a nice sampler for two as a dinner date appetizer. The presentation was beautiful. Service was attentive and out water never ran dry.

Crispy wings, Thai sausage, & nam khao tod. Deliciousness. Good and friendly staff. Everything was very good.

Cute space. Came for lunch and had the lunch special of drunken noodles with chicken and 1 crab rangoon for $12.95. The rangoon is very small with very little filling. The flavor and texture of the noodles was good but my chicken was a little tough. Service was great.

This is the original location for "Bamboo Penny" (owner and chef) and it's very close to home. It's a small place in a strip mall, very clean and inviting and the service is always amazing! I love crab Rangoon, but hate seafood. Theirs has no crab meat, only cream cheese....best ever! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu and if you order to go at the bar, it comes out so fast you can't finish your drink before it's ready to go! So glad it's close to home!

Pleased with the family's recent trip to KC Thai. I ordered the yellow curry with vegetables and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of veggies - not only was there plenty of potatoes, carrots, and onion (the vegetables that normally come with the dish) but there was also broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, and cabbage. (At a lot of places when I order veggies, instead of meat or tofu, it's hard to tell a difference between what I would have gotten otherwise). We also ordered the Mango Sticky Rice. It's been almost a decade since I had this in Thailand, and it's even better than I remember. Good stuff.

This is a regular spot for us. The service is always exceptional. The staff is always polite and friendly. I always get the pad Thai noodles but if you want the proper heat, don't get medium, get hot. Medium just isn't enough heat. Their pan fried dumplings and sauce is also a staple for us. Food is fantastic.

A great place for dinners - called ahead and made a reservation for 6 which was a good thing since they were almost full on a Wednesday night. FYI - gratuity is automatically 22% for a party of 6+ which seemed a little high. Dinner was yummy - heard this restaurant is owned by the same ownership as Bamboo Penny - a well loved spot in Leawood.

Great Thai spot in the kc metro area. Plenty of options to choose from. The food comes out quick and hot, even with a full house. The service is amazing, staff checked in regularly. My water never saw anything below half full. Great seating Pictured is stir fry garlic lover with tofu and pad Thai with tofu. Vegan & vegetarian friendly.

Don't let the stripmall location put you off. This is a superior restaurant. One of the best in the region. I had the vegetable dumpling soup. Every bite was a sublime treat. My friend group all got something different and we each rated the restaurant a solid 10 out of 10.

If you have not already you have to check hot KC Thai located in Overland Park. They have the best drinks, apps, and main entrees. You also cannot forgot the mango sticky rice. It was no nice and refreshing after a large meal. When you arrive, this location is easy to find and park in. Service is super quick. The inside is decorated very nicely and the music is great. They have booth, table and bar seating all inside. Service was very quick and friendly. They gave great recommendations and answered any questions we had. We started with the crab rangoons and some cocktails. All were amazing. For my main course I had the Pham See Eaw. This noodle based dish was soooo good. I would definitely get this again. The chicken fried rice was also good. We capped the night with a beer and some mango sticky rice. This dish was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it. Overall everything was outstanding!

Update from most recent visit: I just went on a Friday night and it was extremely busy. I never saw a wait for a table but it did take a while to order and then get the bill. Food is still amazing and I would still recommend! KC Thai is my favorite spot for Thai food. This location is never super busy and we have never had to wait for a table. There is plenty of seating and the space is never loud. It's a great spot great food and conversation! I love their crispy egg rolls and always start with those. I typically get the Pad Thai with beef, chicken or sea food. All are great options. The pad Thai is really tastey and has great flavor (even when you ask for little to no spice!) I highly recommend KC Thai!

Fast, fresh, and tasty pretty much sums it up. The parking lot is confusing to get into but it's smooth sailing after that. The service was fast but friendly. Everything was clean. The music choice was also appreciated. I started with a Thai tea. It was rich and creamy and was perfect beverage to accompany dinner. The crab Rangoon were so light. Perfectly crisp, not too much breading. I don't feel like there was a lot of crab but it was still delicious and I would get them again. I had the Phad See Eaw-Flat noodles with egg, bok choy, broccoli, & mushrooms in a sweet soy sauce and I added chicken. It was fresh and delicious. There were an abundance of vegetables. On the recommendation of the waiter I went with a medium heat even though I originally ordered hotter. It was a nice heat level. I was happy with his suggestion. We also had the chicken pad Thai which looked good and my dinner companion confirmed.

We were pleasantly surprised at the light colors and simple modern decor. This was a small strip mall place but very nice. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and it took just a few minutes to be seated. The waitress wiped the table to give us a fresh clean surface, even though the table appeared to already be clean. All the staff were very nice. Food was excellent. We had the sampler appetizer. We were given 4 sauces with it and all were tasty. For dinner we had the pad thai and crab fried rice. Almost forgot pictures cause I was so focused on enjoying the food. Best Thai food I have had in Kansas City, definitely worth the drive. Overall - fantastic food. Nice service. Can't wait to go back.

We absolutely love this place. We drive in from Gardner just to eat here. The service is always fantastic. Restaurant is nice and clean. And the food is top notch. I ALWAYS get the mint beef salad. My absolute favorite. The family usually sticks with the shrimp pad Thai. Also delicious every time. And we cannot stop here without getting an order of their fresh spring rolls. A little different each time. But always fresh and delicious. This place is an absolute gem. I hope the residents near by realize how lucky they are to have KC Thai!

Tasted great until I found a pretty poky metal shaving in my curry. Ordered massaman curry (and yellow curry for my husband), delivered. Could've used some chopped salted peanuts on top and less metal.

The ultimate comfort food! I ordered some panang curry from KC Thai after a rough day today. The people working there are always so friendly & the service is quick. While I didn't dine in today, I have in the past and I can tell you that it is a beautiful place and always a great time. The restaurant is gorgeous and clean. The food is always always delicious.

The service was great I took my Mom and Dad and they just loved the place. They liked the way restaurant looked, clean restrooms and pleasant atmosphere. The flavors are authentic. Great job guys

This place is new to me and provided great service both times I went. We were also met with a friendly relaxing environment. First time, we dug right into the curry and pad see ew so no pics - they were delicious and a little on the spicy side. Tried the sampler which came with a number of sauces which was great. Second time we came we didn't get the sampler so no array of sauces but I wish that was a thing here as it would add unique aspect. We enjoyed pad see ew, Tom yum soup, papaya salad, sticky rice, and fried cheesecake for dessert. All very good. The Tom yum soup was packed with mushrooms, tomato and flavor. My papaya salad was good too. It had some cabbage which I am not used to in a papaya salad, but it was still good. The mango sticky rice was tasty, blue and sweet with a really good amount of mango - no skimping out here. I will return!

We like Thai food and cannot we haven't been here before now. This KC Thai location has been open for 2 years. Their Fresh Spring Rolls were extremely fresh, filing and served with a traditional Thai Spring Roll and Peanut dipping sauce. We also had their Gapow with chicken and Red Curry with chicken. We started out thinking we would have leftovers, but it was so good and we were hungry enough to eat it all. No leftovers . We liked the decor, but the old ceiling tiles should have been painted, the street facing windows with a darkening film and the lighting turned down some for the evening to create an ambiance to go with their nice decor. Decor aside, we really enjoyed our meals here and will be back and even get take out.

KC Thai is one of my most frequented restaurants in the OP area. I have tried most of the dishes under "Penny's Specialties" and I like them all! KC Thai is the sister restaurant to Bamboo Penny's. I prefer KC Thai as it's quiet and I've never had to wait. I think it may be a bit under the radar compared to the vastly popular Bamboo Penny's, which I like. There's not much not to like about KC Thai. The restaurant is very clean and decorated nicely, the food is high quality, and the service is always good. My only complaint is the pork belly gaprow is no longer offered and that was my go to order. I highly recommend giving KC Thai a visit and trying one of the specialty dishes!

We really enjoyed our dinner here! Atmosphere is good, service efficient & friendly & the food is great! We ordered the pad Thai, Tom Kha soup, pineapple fried rice & pot stickers. Reasonably priced & large portions. We'll definitely be back!

second time here and it tasted just as good as the first time! my drink was absolutely beautiful, food came out quick, and i had great service! it's so pretty inside as well really just sets the mood for this place! my only problem is i wish it wasn't so far from me haha... it'll be totally worth the drive when i can get back out here again though!

The whole experience was good. Service was quick, ambiance was really nice and peaceful and food was enjoyable. Green curry and red curry are both solid options with some good flavors.

Visiting KC for the summer and had to get some Thai food! As soon as I walked in, the cashier greeted me. The place is decorated nicely and I will definitely come back for a sit-down meal. They have a wide selection of food available, and take-out is also an option (which I ordered). The food was delivered to my very promptly and was great! Happy to know there is a great Thai place in KC to visit. In addition, when I did take-out, the food was very hot and clearly made fresh. In fact, it stayed warm for my whole 2+ hour trip and drive to the airport!

The food here is pretty good! Though it depends on what chef is cooking on the level of spice you will receive.

Came back to this place for dinner with a party of 8, and we were blown away. My partner said, best Thai they have had in KC area thus far. If you haven't been, stop in, this place is delicious! Our waitress was kind and prompt. The restaurant is cozy and welcoming with pleasant colors. We ordered 4 different entrees and they were so tasty. Our party tried the mango cheesecake, we were blown away and decided to try one of every dessert. Stop in and try the sampler. You will be back!

This is a casual Thai restaurant. Really good food, fast service! Our go to for Thai in Overland Park.

I had lunch with a friend here last week. I loved the atmosphere. We enjoyed the appetizer sampler-even though it wasn't listed on the menu. The Thom Kha soup and Chicken Pad Thai were also really good, although the Chicken Pad Thai didn't have much chicken. The Drunken Noodles with Beef were pretty disappointing. The meat was really hard to chew. Neither one of us were interested in taking the leftovers of that home. I would try it again and skip the beef.

Yum! I had the lunch portion drunken noodles with tofu and combo protein. Lots of veggies, sauce, protein and noodles for just the right mix of delicious! Very friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and very reasonable prices. I appreciate menu which has wide variety and they list Thai name of dish with 'Americanized' description of dish.

We love KC Thai!! Our waiter is amazing and always takes great care of us. We love so many things on their menu - drunken noodles, curry, rangoon, treasure bags, pot stickers, curry puffs - it's all fantastic. Don't let the strip mall scare you away, this is legit and delicious. Definitely worth stopping in for lunch or dinner.

LOVE!!! We recently moved from the East Coast (where good Thai food is usually easy to find) and this place is by far the best we've ever had! They have wonderful vegetarian options. The best part is, our kids love it too! We usually share the vegetarian appetizer plate...and we adults barely eat any of it because our kids devour it (they are 3 and 7 years old). My husband loves the Pad Thai, and I've tried a few different things with Tofu Masaman curry being my favorite. The ambiance is nice, the servers (although busy) are very kind. This has become our favorite restaurant in the area and highly recommend it.

Excellent service I ordered outside of my normal food palate and found out I really like the panang curry. Appetizer and desert was great too, will definitely be back.

Even though Valentine's Day, KC Thai was great as always. Food seemed best ever, service is always excellent, and last night was no exception!! The restaurant was packed, and yet, the servers were handling it with incredible speed!! Thanks everyone....

The Pad Thai was delicious and hot. Great food on a day off. The Tom Yum soup was pretty good, as it's easy to mess up this soup, KC made a great broth.
