UWS Greek Favorite Kefi Reopens in Original Location - Eater NY

"UWS Greek restaurant Kefi officially reopened in its original location at 222 West 79th Street. The restaurant, opened by chef Michael Psilakis in 2007, previously lived at 505 Columbus Avenue until it shuttered last month. By returning to its original location on 79th street, Kefi kicks out Psilakis’ other restaurant Fishtag, which is currently in the process of finding a new home." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

Michael Psilakis’s Kefi Shutters After 11 Years on UWS - Eater NY

"Kefi, a beloved Greek restaurant originally located at 222 West 79th St., is relocating to its original location after closing its doors at 505 Columbus Ave. due to a landlord dispute. Known for its Greek wine list and affordable spreads, Kefi is being relaunched by chef Michael Psilakis in a smaller space, continuing to offer its popular dishes while refreshing its traditional Greek concept." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

Everything was great here. Delicious food and nice ambiance. Don't order the soup though. We got both the white bean soup and potato leek. The white bean was average, the potato soup was comparable to gruel. It was very thin, oily, and tasteless. I also don't think the TV screens behind the bar suited the ambiance at all. Other than the soup and TV screens, everything was perfect. Be sure to order the chocolate mousse for dessert! It was amazing.

Great food and service! The Octopus and Mussels appetizers were amazing! The entrees and sides were great as well. Cynthia was attentive and anticipated our needs. If you want to try a dessert, try the traditional Galaktoboureko, you won't go wrong.

Very good, not great (5*). I felt the place was comfortable enough and the food choices are excellent. We had a mix grill for two and the variety hummus. I did have to send the lamb back twice to cook it, it was quite under. I think it would be good for them to ask first how I'd want the lamb cooked. Finally a little too expensive for what it's worth, but overall good place.

Had an early dinner there tonight - and it was DELICIOUS! Super salad (special: arugula, pistachios, figs, onions, radishes, more- SO GOOD! And then trout - also, so good. And came with tons of vegetables. I even liked the ones I don't usually like - EVERYTHING was GREAT! ALL CAPS GREAT! OK, so it seems I wrote that review but never actually hit POST. And since then I had my first not so great meal there. It wasn't terrible - it just wasn't great like the 3 previous meals. They didn't have a salad special (the last 3 were ALL fantastic) And I ordered the same main course (trout) that I'd had every time - it had also been great - just not this time. The sauce was very oily - and everything (fish and vegetables) was over salted. I guess everyone and every place has an off night. Again, it wasn't BAD - it's just that I went in with high expectations based on the previous visits. I'll give them another try in the future - I know that amazing food can come out of that kitchen...

Best place you should definitely visit after walking in Central park. Fair price and professional staff, and of course, great food.
