Professional all the way. It is a very expensive restaurant. However, you get what you pay for. Delicious good quality food and drinks, plus exceptional service. They have a fresh, good-quality fish selection. The ambiance and decor reeked of class and taste.

The restaurant is beautiful. I was celebrating my birthday with a friend. This is a great restaurant to take a special someone or a an old friend. I saw a group of 10 for a ladies night out. The ambiance is lovely! The music playing was smooth jazz. I highly recommend this place...I know you will love it! We ordered calamari and octopus for appetizers. I had the Greek Salad with grilled chicken and my friend had fresh fish grilled whole! Head and tail included. Don't leave without trying the Baklava...so delish, and the presentation is fabulous, includes fresh figs, blackberries, and vanilla ice cream. My friend is a New Yorker. She said she is definitely planning to return. I went back before my flight to buy 2 orders of that delicious Baklava! 😋

Google
Great ambience and service, and is open till 11pm which is one of the main reasons I went here. Homemade bread with hummus and olives was served as a complimentary starter, and a plate of possible homemade cookies served as a dessert/ goodbye compliments. Ordered the Tiri Psito and Wild Mushroom Kritharoto (vegetarian dishes). Mushroom Kritharoto was very flavorful with a strong taste of enoki mushrooms, the sauce didn’t feel too rich and greasy.

I enjoyed the charcoal grilled calamari appetizer with red pepper and hummus (pictured), as well as the baklava dessert with honey (pictured) served on the side. I disliked the "east and west coast oysters," which I thought were virtually tasteless, a 100% disappointment. On another visit there I tried their meze (pikilia) trio. The three included (1) yogurt/cucumber combination, (2) an eggplant meze, (3) a garlic and almond combination meze. I enjoyed all three (pictured below). On another visit there I had their sardine appetizer which I enjoyed. I had a potato fennel soup there one time that was excellent.

Came here for lunch on a weekday and the place was packed! Don't be fooled by the exterior - it gives the impression of being a small place but the entire restaurant is massive and has a great vibe. Even though we had a reservation, the table was ready only 20 minutes after the scheduled time. Ordered a prix fixe lunch and the food was great - had the soup of the day to start with, followed by the Grilled Solomos (salmon) and the Sokolata Kormos for dessert. The dessert was exceptional in taste and flavor - i just couldn't stop at one bite! All in all, while I loved the experience, though I'll skip the peak business lunch rush and go at a quieter time.

Google
My husband and I had the most incredible dining experience at Kellari Taverna in New York today. From the moment we walked in, George, the host, and Silvia, our server, made us feel like VIPs. Their exceptional hospitality truly enhanced our meal. We started with delightful appetizers that set the tone for the evening. For the main course, I enjoyed a delicious lobster and linguine dish, while my husband savored a perfectly cooked scallop and linguine dish. Both were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The meal concluded with the most amazing desserts (see photos). Each bite was a perfect end to a memorable dining experience. Thank you, George and Silvia, for making our visit special. We will definitely be back!

Had a good value pre theatre three course dinner and an additional tzatziki. Sat by the bar. Very friendly bar tender who handled my order.

Had a lovely pre-theatre dinner here with a calming ambiance and delicious fresh seafood. The staff was friendly and attentive at all times. Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
I visited this restaurant for lunch on a weekday and the place was abuzz with activity with not an empty table! Don't be mistaken - it might look small from the outside, but the interior is incredibly large with a welcoming atmosphere. Although we had a reservation, our table wasn't ready until about 20 minutes past the scheduled time. Other than that, the service was excellent. For lunch, I opted for the prix fixe menu, which did not disappoint. I started with the soup of the day, followed by the Grilled Solomos (salmon), and finished with the Sokolata Kormos for dessert. While everything was delicious, the dessert was truly outstanding--rich, flavorful, and impossible to resist! Overall, I enjoyed the meal and the ambiance, but I'd recommend visiting during a less busy time to avoid the lunch rush and delays.

Yelp
Ambiance is beautiful! Service is great. Wish the soup came with more chicken. Salmon sashimi needed more lemon for flavor. Salad was boring, nothing special. Seabass was overcooked and dry. Got the grilled octopus but it wasn't great. Overall the food is 3 stars but the vibe is pretty for a dinner date spot

Yelp
Came in for dinner and drinks before a show on a Saturday. A tad busy. The place is beautiful. Very refreshing and not dark. Server was nothing spectacular. Did her job. Nothing above or beyond in regard to friendliness from the minute we sat down. We ordered the trio of dips with tatziki, feta and an eggplant one. All were delicious and we received more pita when needed. We then ordered the halloumi cheese appetizer or small plate. It was fine. Shuka has them beat! We then ordered the muscles. From the instant they arrived we knew they were not fresh. I took one bite. Fine. Second bite was super fishy and didn't feel right in consistency. I spit it out. All three of us agreed they were suspect. Rule of thumb w seafood: when in doubt, spit it out! I alerted the waitress, she apologized and returned the dish. By that time we were pressed for time and didn't really fancy muscles again. I advised we would still tip her based on the full price of the intended meal but that we didn't need a replacement dish. She left the side of fries and those were very good. The manager came over, did what he should do in these cases, apologized. Told me it would be stricken from the tab and brought us a dessert on the house. We assured him we understood and encouraged him to taste one. We left feeling underwhelmed and hoped they just had an off night. I did tip fully (muscles included). I paid the bill and saw a pending reversed charge on my card app. Not sure what happened, but when I got my credit card statement- the full change had been put through. Disappointed. Won't return.

Yelp
Every place seemed to be busy this particular night and we ended up at Kellari. I've been eyeing this place so glad we stopped in even if it was just for a drink and some appetizers. We both got wine. I went with a white Greek wine I haven't had in a while. It was refreshing and just what I was looking for. We also ordered grilled calamari and a dozen oysters. Oysters were good but nothing special. They were a little big for my preference. The calamari on the other hand was delicious. If given the choice I always go with grilled and glad we did. It came with a little bit of greens and what I thought was hummus but menu says otherwise. Delicious nonetheless and would order that again. We also ordered some bread white we wait which came with olives. Service was great. Very attentive at the bar and we enjoyed ourselves. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
The hostess was so elegant and stylish, and really set the bar very high for the whole experience. Nattily-dressed waiters, attentive service (our glass was never empty,) delicious fresh and tender food, great flavors, beautiful table settings and bold decor.

Yelp
OMG this place is so awful Asked my waiter if the chicken was on the bone or off - he didn't know I ordered filet mignon that was tough and cold - waiter and management were. Or accommodating - hard to imagine why place is so crowded

Yelp
Been here twice and will be back for more! Kellari's plates are rich and I enjoy dining in at the bar. The bartenders here are enthusiastic and make for a fun dining experience!

Yelp
Specialty cocktails were tasty though weak. Would stick to your go- tos or wine. Other than that, the food was great. We had the Kellari chips and Octopus for apps. The Branzino and Dover Sole and the pasta special (we were definitely not a fan) for dinner and the brussel sprouts and lemon potatoes for dinner. The potatoes had great flavor but were dry in texture. You will smell like fish when you walk out of here but the decor and flavors may be with it.

Linda L.

Yelp
the food was not seasoned and unflavored. all of 25 people who sat there was reaching out for the salt. which was to my surprise a nice place like this the chef would have not seasoned the meat. the rest of them had salmon and they did not like it

Yelp
Had a work lunch at Kellari this past week and it was a good experience overall. Service was good, although perhaps a little slow for a business lunch. restaurant was packed with folks when we arrived at 1:30pm but by 3pm most folks had cleared out. We shared several dishes: Fried calamari - 4/5 Greek salad - 3/5 (weirdly not a lot of flavor - like could have used more salt? oregano? something) French fries - 3/5 For a mid-town lunch the prices were not exorbitant and the ambiance was good, not too noisy for us to talk.

Yelp
Kellari New York i decided to go to kellari's for my birthday and what a treat it was. the food and service was top notch. my waiter pamos was so attentive and made great suggestions on what to eat. victor at the front desk greeted me with a big smile and made me feel right at home. i highly recommend this lovely place for anyone who wants exceptional food and service. i cant wait to go back.

Yelp
Okay food, nothing special. Waaaaay overpriced and small portions. Nice ambiance and cool bar.

Yelp
I found myself at Kellari for a work dinner. The usual suspects for these events are steakhouses, so it was refreshing to see another type of cuisine pop up - bonus points for being a place I've never been to before. That being said, I was looking forward to checking this place out. Kellari serves up Greek cuisine with an emphasis on seafood. It's a very Midtown restaurant in terms of space - the dining room is large with a sizeable private room where we were seated. I liked the decor - it was stylish with a light color scheme that played into the menu offerings. As with other work dinners I've been to, there was a prix-fixe menu. We started with an assortment of dips paired with pita. This is pretty standard in most Greek restaurants - all of them had good flavor and the pita was fresh. We were also started with zucchini kefte which were essentially zucchini cakes with a tomato aioli. These were tasty - good flavor, relatively light, and not oily. For my main I had the salmon which was seasoned well and had great flavor. Service was good, and overall I had a good experience at Kellari. Many times when I go restaurants for work events I get the restaurant week treatment, but Kellari dished the goods. I wouldn't hesitate returning here for another meal.

Yelp
This was a perfectly good Greek restaurant for lunch. It's definitely on the expensive side and the taramasolata was decent, as was the pita. Service was friendly and well-paced.

Yelp
stumbled upon this restaurant on the walk home and decided to eat here since it looked nice. our server was so sweet and nice however our food did come out a bit slow. We ordered the tuna tartar, sesame spanakopita, and kavourokeftes (crab cake) as appetizers and the wild mushroom pasta and fries to share. the crab cakes and the wild mushroom were the best however everything here was a bit overpriced.

Yelp
It was a week night we got seated at 8:30 and wow I hadn't been here in over 15 years! So disappointed they really need to listen to their reviews and step it up ... this place use to be the best ... use to serve everyone approaching the bar these insane olives ... no more . Use to put some bread at the table when you sat down ... no more . Portions use to be a decent size ... no more now the portion are so small. Ordered the halibut and it didn't come with what it states on the menu they gave me rice instead of the vegetables that were listed . If I wanted rice I would have went out for Chinese . Server wasn't too attentive Either .

Yelp
Exceptional service. Outstanding food! Worth a revisit. Angel was terrific as our server and George was super as a host helping us out. The octopus was a good starter. Tender. Nicely cooked and with love oil and hummus. Good start The fish was such a hit. We loved the Sphirida. Recommend it if available!!! Picture after we were done.... Terrific buttery fish well cooked with appropriate volume of lemon and olive oil. I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Came here for my husband's birthday in 2019. Food was good, interesting balanced menu, although not super memorable. They did a nice desert for him. Very nice décor inside and good location in Midtown.

Yelp
Everything was superb. Food out of the world. Taste amazing. Dessert tart was amazing We were a party of 16. 1st time at restaurant. Definitely going again

Yelp
Went for happy hour. Nice pour on the wine, decent variety. Plenty of hh food options. Definitely had better Greek elsewhere. The hh menu is different from what they have online. The eggplant zucchini chips were soggy & a bit greasy. Grilled calamari was tender & tasty. We ordered the trio of dips from main menu, kinda tasted the same. Spanakopita was a bit blah. It was passable for hh, but most likely not go for dinner. Service was very good & efficient.

Yelp
My group of eight people had a reservation, and when we arrived, we were given the choice of waiting for a table inside or to be seated immediately outside under heat lamps. We opted for outside, and it was perfect-much quieter than sitting inside the loud, crowded restaurant. The heaters kept us plenty comfortable. Our server was attentive and made sure that we were well taken care of from the wines to the appetizers to the main course. I found my new favorite calamari here-it was delicious! I had to refrain from finishing the appetizer myself, had to be aware of other people who wanted to enjoy it too. Shucks. Next time I'm ordering my own. I ordered the filet minon and had requested it to be cooked medium. It was a little dry and overcooked for me, but the flavor was good. Making myself a note to order it medium rare next time, or maybe just an entire order of calamari to myself. Yeah.
google avatar

Yelp
Elegant place for a quiet lunch on Sunday out of the Fifth Ave fray. Prix fixe at $39 is also reasonable for the area. A delicious time was had by all -- nice olive and hummus amuse bouche, portions are generous and service attentive. Tables were well spaced and cheaper than a flight to Athens.

Yelp
Excellent food and service here! One of the best Greek foods I have eaten. We ordered to share: greek salad, chargrilled kalamari, zucchini croquette balls, lavraki (chargrilled fish with lemon potatoes and broccoli rabe), and desserts. Greek salad- super delicious! The tomatoes were one of the most juciest and freshest I have eaten. Superb! Chargrilled kalamari - This is a must order! The way it was chargrilled made that calamari so tender and smokey flavored! This item was outstanding and it surprised me. I would reorder this! Zucchini croquette balls - this one was good and soft. Lavraki (chargrilled fish with lemon potatoes and broccoli rabe) - WOW! This is also another must order! The fish was so tender and so delicious! The lemon potatoes were superb - one of the best I have eaten. The broccoli rabe was good. I would also reorder this! Desserts - there were a lot of random things but the one item that was outstanding was the baklava! It was one of the best baklavas I have eaten. Super soft, nutty, sweet and savory. That honey on that baklava was liquid gold. YUM! Excellent staff (manager Seli to the waiters and waitresses). Decor was beautiful and the seating was very comfortable. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Two college friends and I chose NYC as the location of our recent reunion and Kellari was the restaurant selected as our first NYC meal. The staff were kind and attentive this past Thursday night and each dish we selected was wonderful (4.5 stars). It was so good I opted to return alone the following Sunday, October 22nd as I love solo dining when I have had an excellent prior dining service. Rating is based on my sad dining experience on Sunday. The inital unpleasantness began upon arrival - I mentioned to the hostess that I had a 6p reservation and was direct to the bar "unless I wanted a table". To which I replied I did as I had a reservation. She proceeds to seat me next to the bar. The service was not attentive the entire evening so I opted to only get a salad and calamari to lessen my time around the poor service. My experience was so wonderful on Thursday but what a difference a few days make. Pics posted of my wonderful dinner on Thu.

Yelp
Bustling Greek restaurant right off 5th Avenue featuring a satisfying pre fixe lunch menu.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
Wonderful and delicious meal at Kellari! I love that this place offers a pre theater menu before 6:30pm everyday! We had a party of 6 persons and was able to order 3 pre fixe theater menus and regular dishes. Every dish we ordered were delicious! From the pre fixe theater menu (which is so worth the price for 3 courses at $59: - calamari - tuna tartare - kale salad (with anchovies!) - lavraki filet - mushroom ravioli - sea bass filet - 3 desserts: baklava (far too sweet), Kormos (SO good! A chocolate biscuit) and vanilla ice cream In addition to the affordable pre fixe theater we also ordered off the regular dinner menu: - kellari chips, eggplant and zucchini chips (fried) - king prawn pasta - grilled octopus (excellent) - Dover sole (I was surprised of the generous portion of this dish) - rapini - spanakorizo Overall we were impressed by this restaurant! Definitely going to be one of our Greek places in the city!

Yelp
Came here after a few friends and relatives had a Sunday brunch a few weeks ago and enjoyed the experience. Located in Midtown Manhattan near Times Square, this is a large restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. They are on the more expensive side so be prepared as this is Manhattan. They were very busy on Sunday night with pre theater dinner. It did quiet down after 7:30 pm. It is a well run establishment, they are busy and the staff definitely hustles. The food was excellent, is high quality and very fresh. This is a nice atmosphere for almost any occasion. What I liked most was when there was initially an issue with the appetizer coming out cold instead of hot, the manager took immediate responsibility, made no excuses, apologized, asked if we wanted something else or a fresh appetizer. She also offered complimentary drinks for the error. This is a sign of a well run business and well trained employee with excellent customer service skills. The rest of the dinner was flawless. The appetizer came out perfect and warm. We ordered the halibut and the salmon as a main course. Very nice size portion, great taste, the courses were well timed out and not rushed. For desert we had the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. Our waiter explained it would take about 15 minutes as it is freshly made and was EXCELLENT! Overall a very nice experience, nice atmosphere, relaxing, excellent quality food, and a friendly staff. I would recommend them and would come back.

James W.

Yelp
Started off great with delicious grilled octopus. Both ordered the grilled lamb chops, but they were overcooked (we ordered medium rare but they arrived a solid medium, making them tough) and lacked seasoning (salt would have gone a long way). Service was fair. Asked twice for the wine I ordered. Beautiful ambiance and Holiday decorations!
google avatar

Tam M.

Yelp
Chefs kiss *** I cannot tell you how good this place is!!! I dropped by here for dinner and sat outside at their patio love the atmosphere here. Their food is even better! Luis was my server and he was also the best! I'm definitely coming back here to try their octopus because that is what Luis recommended after my calamari because he said the octopus is apparently better than the calamari BUT How?!!?! That calamari was the best way to eat calamari I've ever tried. I will never get deep fried calamari again! Their watermelon salad omg omg had a hint of spice but PERFECTION! Light and refreshing I could not have made it better and I make a damn good watermelon salad all the time. I need to come back and try everything else on the menu especially their whole fish.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is super cute! You have to try all the desserts. Outstanding service and amazing food!
google avatar

Lenny K.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday for late brunch, more of a midday lunch. I wish their brunch menu had more Greek selections. Otherwise the food was good. Not cheap. It's Manhattan. Outstanding service. I had chicken kebabs which was one of the few Greek food choices. Might checkout another time for dinner.
google avatar

Cellina L.

Yelp
The ambiance was very festive. T food was great especially the lamb chops and the vegetable that came with it. The vegetable was one of the best I had with the charcoal flavor. The seabass was also delectable. The walnut baklava was just the perfect finish to a perfect meal.

Yelp
y husband and I decided to try a new place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This place is beautiful. The ambiance was very nice for a special occasion. The service was attentive. The drinks were very good. I enjoyed the Lychee-Titi. It was delicious. My husband enjoyed the fig mule, he was also satisfied with it. Then we split a Greek salad which was fresh and flavorful. For our main course I had the surf and turf. The presentation was amazing and the portion was huge. Very filling, overall it was good. My husband ordered the Thalassina, grilled seafood platter which was also very a very generous portion. He enjoyed his very much and half of my steak. We also shared a dessert, the Kormsa which was nicely presented and very decadent. Perfect for sharing. It was a hard biscuit consistency more than moist cake.
google avatar

D Y.

Yelp
Overall good. I had the fish of the day, grilled char fillet. It was nicely cooked and accompanied by some veggies (Swiss chard?). The sourdough bread was very good. While there wasn't a standout, everything was well-executed. Solid spot.
google avatar

Sharon L.

Yelp
Super satisfied with their service. The food is delicious. Prices were acceptable based on the portion. Highly recommended. WILL BE BACK!!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Food was fresh. Though the Greek salad with octopus was good it was a bit too salty and needed a more complex flavor - maybe lemon?

Yelp
We had dinner here Saturday service was a little slow but the staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean & very well decorated. The food was amazing.

Yelp
I checked out NYC website to make sure this place offers a Sunday Brunch/Lunch for Restaurant Week Menu and also called the restaurant to confirm. I made a reservation on Sunday at 11:30 am. Woman welcomed us and all of sudden the phone rang and she picked up. She lowered her voice and talking to this person on the phone, instructed to do something and she repeated " what? Give them a different menu slip? Where is it?" In front her, there were actual menu and  "Restaurant Week Menu"  but she gave us regular menu and other "dinner menu"instead. And that dinner menu set cost over $65++ per person compares to $30 per person for Restaurant Week Menu. I asked our waiter if there are any restaurant week menu and he said "No, not on the weekends!" So I told him, "Oh, I actually came to try out Restaurant Week Menu, and I saw on the NYC website shows that your restaurant is  participating for Sunday Brunch/Lunch. He says "No, not on the Sunday" Well, I didn't want to make a big deal, so I ordered a regular meal. 5 minutes later, I noticed that this hostess were giving out Regular Menu book and "Restaurant Week " Menu to other customers. So I asked this woman,  if there was a  different menu for Restaurant Week? She says " oh did I give you a dinner menu?" I specifically asked our waiter if there's any Restaurant Week menu and he clearly said, No. I lived in this area for more than 10 years. She might have thought that we were a tourist and tried to sell expensive menus. I felt discriminated based on our appearance,  race,  or whatever it was. Terrible experience.
google avatar

Hanna K.

Yelp
Went to try this Greek Mediterranean restaurant in midtown. Overall it was a disappointment. Service was slow. Server was not attentive, which made us wait long for a simple request. Food was not bad but seemed a bit pricy for the quality. Ambiance of the restaurant was alright. Would I come back? I'd rather try other ones...
google avatar

Navin R.

Yelp
I was looking for somewhere to eat in Midtown one afternoon and stumbled upon Kellari. Kellari had a few menus to choose from. Different pre-fix menus as well as the main menu that one can order from. I ordered from the Before Theatre pre-fix menu and chose: tuna tare tare, lamb chops, and baklava. All 3 were great. The tuna tasted fresh and the lamb chops were cooked to perfection
google avatar

Andrea D.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance and delicious food! Everything we ordered was amazing, from appetizers, to salad, to main course to dessert. Would definitely go again and highly recommend!

Yelp
Lovely lunch of the freshest Greek salad/ chicken kabobs/ hummus/ tzatziki and olives. They did not rush us. We were trying to stretch our time for our next wedding dress appt and they were so accommodating!

Yelp
Very underrated restaurant. Service is a bit slow but it's was full on a rainy Tuesday night. The food is incredibly fresh and very tasteful. Entrees are very large portions and can be shared. It's very pretty inside and a mix of old fashioned and modern. A bit loud but great to enjoy with a group.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was delicious. Excellent service. The lobster ravioli was perfect. Very nice inside

Yelp
Came here for a lunch meeting with an old guy, who claimed he was Greek, and said this is a good Greek restaurant. That's a good reference from a credible source. I'm trying to be healthy, so I had the Greek salad, but not that healthy, so I added octopus. It was delicious and I think it was healthy. This seems like a solid spot and I would come back.

Rachele R.

Yelp
We were eight people for Sunday brunch. We asked to have our table changed and it was done with a smile and the service was outstanding. But let me get to the quality of the food and how flavorful it was. You can't go wrong with their hamburger, their salmon, their zucchini appetizer their soup. Beautiful, classy decor matched with attentive, thoughtful servers. Great outdoor seating available and easy walk to theaters. This has been my go to place for many years, and it will continue to be. Kalari never disappoints.

Irochka D.

Yelp
Not enough food is given for catering orders. We ordered food for 40 people and there was barely enough food for 20. I order catering all the time and I know portion sizes. A large tray feeds 20-25 people; everything we received was in small trays.

Dianne T.

Yelp
Service is fabulous! Ask for Phillip. Ambiance is so charming! Excellent choices of wine.
