Kelly’s Seafood - Review - Northeast Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Don’t confuse the fishing nets and wooden helms for kitsch—Kelly’s is the real deal, and has been slinging seafood in the Northeast since 1958. Thanks to the large booths, families celebrating birthdays, and the staff coaching local kids on baseball swings, it feels as homey as it does nautical. There’s a full bar with a few TVs, but most people are in the dining area, downing the menu's standouts: shrimp and scallop linguine in a rich tomato sauce, crispy calamari, and the shrimp cocktail. It’s not the best in town, but if you’re in the neighborhood and want no-fuss seafood in a place with friendly service, it’s a choice we can get behind. video credit: CANDIS R. Good food at a fair price. Awesome service. Heidi and I both had the Broiled Seafood $33.50 Broiled flounder, scallops, shrimp, steamed clams and king. I opted for mushroom soup and French fries. I also enjoyed the oysters on the half shell with a martini as an appetizer.

We really enjoyed the food and the 'feel' of the restaurant. It is an older place (which could probably use some updating), so it is kind of dark and borderline dingy (excuse the pun), but it wasn't at all unkempt. The service was excellent. The waitress was knowledgeable, helpful, and just chatty enough to make the whole experience wonderful. The Piña Coladas were very tasty and VERY STRONG! They have a decent collection of beers on tap and in bottles. I had the Snapper Soup which was unique and very savory. It has a cinnamon and slightly chocolate flavor, but not at all sweet, and just a tad bit of spiciness to give it a low, slow burning lick. I can see why people come back JUST for this soup. Cooked fresh, in-house daily, you should try it at least once. It does NOT 'taste like chicken', but it's definitely NOT a strong or gamey flavor, if you're worried about what snapper turtle tastes like... The Buffalo Shrimp, in my opinion, were good... Not great. They were enormous and cooked to perfection, but then just coated with buffalo sauce... Still, it was a good, safe appetizer, and everyone at the table RAVED about how good they were (not too spicy... Low to medium heat). Half dozen raw clams on the half shell are possibly the best I've ever had. Big, fresh, and presented very well with excellent cocktail sauce. I think they put a little salt and lemon on them before, but they were absolutely delicious! Salad was average at best, but I wasn't there for the salad... Broiled seafood combo was excellent. I've read some comments that the seasoning is borderline bland... I would say that they are very light on the seasoning, but only to let the seafood flavor shine. You can always add salt or other spices... Once it's cooked, you can't take those spices (salt) away. Roasted potato wedges were hot, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. Pepper hash was surprisingly sweet (like a really light cole slaw), not even remotely spicy, and a wonderful counterbalance to the rest of my savory meal. The Key Lime Pie was the best I've ever had. The pie filling itself was select fully sweet but with just enough acidity and even a slight amount of bitterness from the zest to make this a perfectly prepared pie filling. And then the crust.... Ohh mama... Graham cracker crust... CARAMEUZED... to give it great texture and a tinge of smokiness to round out the whole dessert experience. Everyone at our table was thrilled with the food - its quality, portion size, and taste. My middle son said the scallops were 'by far, the best (he's) ever had...', and that may be hard to argue. The scallops as we had them across the whole table were big, juicy and perfectly prepared so they were neither under or over cooked. I will be back to have their crab cakes, which also seem to be quite popular!

Nice local stop. Wonderful service. Food is generally very good. Bacon wrap shrimp are awesome! Great Happy hour menu and prices. However, on a recent visit the macaroni and cheese that I order often was so disappointing...it was Tasteless!!!! not sure why they changed it??? I hope it is a temporary change? Otherwise great spot.

The waitress was very loud. There were four of us. Three ordered iced tea and I ordered water. She came back with drinks and said who got the water? Then she's pointed out where the sides were on the menu and asked us not to make her tell us b because her voice hurt. When she came with our meals, she went to give them to the table next to us. My parents got a seafood mix and were not offered any cocktail or tater sauce. We had to ask for it. I wanted New England clam chowder which I was told they were out of so I got the Manhattan that was so spicy I couldn't even eat it. She did take that off the bill but the entire experience was horrible. We've been there before but won't be going back any time soon.

Kelly's Seafood is an absolute gem for anyone who loves fresh, expertly prepared seafood. The inviting ambiance and friendly service set the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The star of the show is undoubtedly the seafood. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and clearly made with the freshest ingredients. The crab cakes were perfectly crisp on the outside and brimming with sweet, succulent crab meat. The hot soups are super. The grilled salmon was cooked to perfection, with a delightful balance of smokiness and tenderness. What truly sets Kelly's apart is the staff. They are not only kind and helpful but also incredibly well-trained, ensuring that every guest feels valued and cared for. Whether you're out for a casual meal or celebrating something special, Kelly's Seafood is the place to be. Highly recommend!

Not sure what happen to the food quality. I was very disappointed. We did come years ago and had a great time. Sorry , I will never go back. The waitress tried her best to make it a nice experience. I realize this was not her fault. Change your oil. SORRY

This review is based solely on the food not the service. Service was excellent. I would not recommend this place for anyone under 60 yrs old. The food is very bland. I ordered buffalo shrimp, what I received was 5 shrimp drenched in a hot sauce ketchup combo mix. Taste nothing like buffalo. On to the entrée, wanted to try something different so ordered shrimp francese over rice. What I got was a hot mess can't even describe it it was unsalted butter and a bunch of lemon but all you could taste was the lemon. I was going to doctor it up at home by my friend asked to replace it with salmon dinner. Now the salmon was nice and fresh but bland. Asked for some more seasoning and that helped a little. Rice was supposed to have butter, it didn't. Mash potatoes were ok but could have used some salted butter. My friend ordered flounder dinner, he said it was good, added salt and pepper. Over all its a no for me, some older folks may enjoy it.

We drive past this place quite a bit, but it never really caught our eye as a place we MUST try. But while looking up seafood restaurants, being in the mood, found that it had decent reviews and decided to go. The outside of the restaurant is slightly repellant, not because anything is dirty or messy, but it lacks a theme, signage, decor, plants, or any of the things that might draw people in, which is such a shame because there's a LOT to like on the INSIDE! We were quickly seated and served, got our meals, coffee and dessert, and the prices were fair. When again we're in the mood for seafood, we're coming back to Kelly's! If there's anything I'd change from the inside, I'd lose the track lights and a lot of the pictures between pictures. Funny, what they lack on the outside of the restaurant, they more than double-down on the inside of the restaurant. But based on the food and prices, this place ought to be busier at dinnertime.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch on Friday. First off, service was outstanding. My wife and I both ordered the broiled combination and it was well worth the price. I also had the mushroom soup and French fries. But my order started with oysters on the half shell and a martini. Everything was very good. In fact my only slight negative is the tarter sauce which was a bit too sweet for my liking. All in all a great experience, and will be returning soon to try some of their other offerings.

Yelp
Food is always delicious! Kathy, Lori & Jeanine are amazing, their service is always on point. Not sure why the low stars but it def is a hidden gem!

Yelp
I LOVE KELLY'S! I've been a customer since the late 60s so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to this historic eatery. First, the atmosphere is very comfortable... tasteful nautical decor. The food is quite good. They bread and fry better than most any other seafood restaurant in Philly. The grilled salmon is very good. Red bliss potatoes are crispy and wonderfully flavorful. Excellent cole slaw. Great honey mustard dressing. Fried flounder is fabulous. Shrimp fabulous. Cozy bar! Now, the few things they REALLY need to improve: 1) POOR QUALITY ROLLS-- These are quite bad. Dry and flavorless. It's easy to secure excellent bread in a city like Philly with so many great bakeries. Great restaurants have great bread. Kelly's does not. 2) HORRENDOUS MUSIC-- Talk about killing the cozy atmosphere. This is a fine seafood restaurant, not a night club. I like most all types of music, including hard rock, but the last thing I want to hear when I eat dinner is noise like "I Love Rock and Roll" by Pat Benetar and "We Didn't Start the Fire" (an excellent tune, but certainly not to accompany your dinner with your family! e g : "Children of Thalidomide... AIDS...Crack... Foreign Debts... Suicide... JFK Blown Away" etc etc etc. Come on, guys... choose some nice mellow music that's actually appropriate for a restaurant of your caliber... music that's relaxing to eat by. You're not running a crappy corner bar. 3) HARSH ABOVE TABLE LIGHTING--Switch your harsh lightbulbs that blast light directly into your guests' eyes... replace them with popular half-dome mirrored bulbs--they're $6 a piece on Amazon and last forever. This will make a big difference in the comfort and dining experience. 4) WEAK DESSERT SELECTION--For years, only rice and chocolate pudding or Jell-O. Come on... Kelly's isn't a nursing home. Add a few nice pastries... even for a premium if guests want them over the nursing home standards. A great dinner deserves a great ending... not something you'd expect in an elementary school or memory-care facility. 5) NO HORSERADISH/OTC CRACKERS--I love them in seafood houses and miss them in Kelly's. I've always been a fan of Kelly's... and I want them to continue their long success (since 1958!). A few tweaks will put a polish on this gem of a local seafood restaurant.

Yelp
Fried Calamari This dish was tough, Had no technical, and no flavor. Was it pig anus.Crab Cakes Was actually crab impereal period period this dish Add the texture of mashed potatoes and no trace of crab. The next dish was shrimp stuff with crab meat. And that too, had the mashed potato Texture with no trace of crab meat. The waitress played dumb. And she took my dish into the kitchen. And she said that the cook found some crab meat. I couldn't find a trace of Crab meat And I kid you not. This lunch was on the twenty second of septemburp, two thousand twenty three, And it could only be described as a disgrace. The cook's other job must be changing tires.

Yelp
Tonight we came here for my mom's birthday dinner. This has been the 3rd time coming here because we LOVED the food. Each time we went we got the same type of food. The waitresses/staff are always so nice! Tonight when we arrived we asked what the veggies were? The waitress said "cream spinach, but would not order it. It's not good at all"! We were taken back but appreciated her honesty. The fried calamari (which we got before and LOVED IT) this time has no taste, rubbery and hard. The claims casino was burnt to the crisp. The salmon we sent back but it was RAW the waitress agreed. The crabcakes had NO crab at all. It only had this raw soup filling inside I had two bites and spit it out. Since my husband sent his salmon back, he ordered the crabcakes, not realizing that I was disgusted by mine. His crab cakes came out within two seconds, which was weird and they were cold, with no crab meat. My mom got the lobster tail. She couldn't even put her knife through it because of how rubbery and hard it was. At this point, we couldn't even complain because we would've had to taken back EVERY single dish we had on the table. The only thing that was good was my mom's birthday dessert. I'm so sorry that this had to happen because it's nice to have a seafood restaurant near by but we will never come back again. I actually feel nauseous driving home.

Yelp
Ordered few things to go: salmon, chicken Alfredo penne, chicken Marsala and stuffed mushrooms. Stuffed mushrooms turned out to be the highlight of the meal. Rather disappointing with everything else. Salmon came with asparagus that cannot chew through. Chicken Alfredo penne - had barely any chicken in it and it was cut into small pieces. Chicken Marsala: the side of vegetables (mashed potatoes) probably ended up being only 1/8 of a cup of it. Hostess had an attitude almost from the moment I walked in when I tried to place an order and was then passed to a waitress to place a to-go order. Restaurant itself felt very dated with more of a buffet feel than a seafood place. Will NOT go back.

Yelp
My sister gives a five for her scallop platter, soup, and over all experience. I really enjoyed my food and experience, as well. The only thing I would change is using fresh cut potatoes for the fries but overall very happy with my crab cake platter and soup. Nice restaurant with a bar area, too, for your enjoyment. The wait staff were very nice and friendly and attentive. Check them out!

Ingid N.

Yelp
I love Kelly's. It's cozy. The wait staff I've had has been lovely. The portions are generous enough that I've often taken some home to enjoy later. I usually get oysters, because I love oysters, but anything I've had has been good. The different friends I've gone with have all enjoyed their meals no matter what they've ordered. I gave 4 stars because it is a "neighborhood place" rather than a "dining experience" place but a great choice for a meal in the neighborhood!

Andrea A.

Yelp
the food is phenomenal and the service is even better. we love to support this family ran business every chance we get!

Yelp
Good solid food. Great snapper soup. Always consistent in quality. Nice family atmosphere.

Yelp
Every once in a while we stop in here for lunch but unfortunately this will be our very last visit. One star is for the lovely waitress who tried her best to make our dining experience pleasant, the second star is because Kelly's is sentimental to me. But in all honesty, I would not recommend the food to a friend. The applesauce was 'off', the mac & cheese was not eatable, the coconut shrimp....I couldn't tell if there was a tail or if it truly was shrimp...the dipping sauce was not very nice. For dessert, we opted for the rice pudding. Don't do this.
google avatar

Latecia C.

Yelp
It was good food great service. Really enjoyed their crab cakes and calamari. They also make their own Russian dressing.

Joan S.

Yelp
Food very good, service not always good depending on which waitress you get. I used to be a regular until I got stuck with a waitress who kept calling me "sweetie" and honey" even after I asked her to stop calling me that-she let me know she thought I was being silly. There are a few waitresses there who need additional training in how to properly communicate with customers.

Yelp
Passed by this place the other day and decided to give them a try. 1) Place was welcoming and clean. 2) Host was Friendly and sat us promptly. 3) Waitress was very friendly, attentive, and helpful. 4) Food was goodZ we ordered several items to try: A) Strip streak was good and cooked just right. B) Filet and Salmon was good and salmon was moist and cool correctly. C) Oysters and Clams were fresh and delicious. D) Soups was good. Had a very thick consistency. E) Beers were fresh and cold. F) Mac and Cheese and other items were also good. See pictures below. Over all I would return to this location again. Please give them a try.

Yelp
I just had to post this because I am so appreciative for Kelly's staff to go above and beyond in their service! I needed to pick up a gift certificate that I absolutely had to have in the am of the next day, but when I pulled up to the restaurant, I realised they have just closed. The doors were already locked! Something told me to go ahead and try calling, I was in luck ! a very nice young man picked up the phone and after I explained my desperate situation he told me that he would meet me upfront to let me in so I could get that gift certificate that I so desperately needed to get! I did not feel rushed, he was very pleasant and professional and I got my gift certificate!!!! it is so rare to find this type of service and care! I really appreciate it. Thank you!!!

Yelp
Food is always great!!! Prices are pretty reasonable too considering the cost of seafood has gone up. Definitely recommend to have a nice dinner. On holidays, probably a good idea to make reservations.

Yelp
My wife and have been going here for 33 years. This will be our last time . The service was nice not good . The food was ridiculous, some of the food was over cooked not eatable . The chicken parmigiana was reused , refreshed but not fresh at all and the clam soup was so watered down it was closer to chicken noodle soup than New England clam chowder. The salad had been sitting in the refrigerator forever and it was totally flat to the plate. It was like it had freezer burn. The blue cheese was water down as was the tartar sauce was poured out almost like melted butter. The only part of our meal that was good to eat were the mozzarella sticks but they looked as if there came from another persons plate .

Yelp
Went here the other night for dinner, early bird special. I had the stuffed flounder with deviled crab and my wife had the stuffed shrimp. We both had roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables for the sides. My flounder was good, but the deviled crab stuffing was bland, not tangy at all. My wife's stuffed shrimp was the same. The roasted potatoes were overcooked and were not seasoned at all. Very dry, too. The mixed vegetables had no taste. I had the rice pudding for dessert, which was terrible. My wife had chocolate pudding, can't really mess that up. Bottom line was that this restaurant's quality has gone way down since we were here a few years ago. Very disappointed. We won't be going back here.

Kari M.

Yelp
Wonderful traditional seafood restaurant where the food and friendly staff are top rate! My in-laws ate at Kelly's on Bustleton Ave. for close to forty years. Last Friday we hosted a Celebration of Life in honor of my father in law after his funeral. The staff remembered him even though he had been living on SC for the past nine years. This place is the truly one of a kind!

Yelp
*Pre-Covid review* Looking to support local businesses and eat delicious seafood? Kelly's Seafood is the place! The owners are kind and accommodating, and definitely deserve the support! Each dish I've tried has been delicious, reasonably priced and generous portion sizes.

Yelp
We had a funeral luncheon for my Mom this past Saturday, July 30, 2022. The staff at Kelly's was wonderful. From when I called to plan it to when we walked out everyone was very nice and helpful. The food was excellent, restaurant is warm and welcoming, and staff was courteous and kind. Thank you for making a sad occasion so much easier to deal with.

Bud H.

Yelp
It's been a few years since we have been here. The last few visits were not the best. So we give them a try again. We are glad we did!! They almost fully redeemed themselves. The staff was super friendly and service with a smile. It was super clean. The food was awesome and the portions were good. Now I can only give it 4 out of 5 stars because they didn't have any chocolate mousse. We came early in the hope to get some. They have the best chocolate mouse. The waitress says they don't always make it. Despite them not having any mousse we will be back.
google avatar

Denise H.

Yelp
Kelly's is good for only certain things. Like their snapper soup which is absolutely the best I've ever had. I always bring an extra quart home with me to freeze for a winter craving. It really is that good. The wait staff is equally amazing as well. Some of these gals have been there for are more than a few years and as much as an institution and the restaurant itself. The restaurant seems to be known for their seafood but I've sent oysters back that looked questionable and I don't think I've ever had a piece of flounder that wasn't frozen. However, the shrimp salad is really good as are the burgers and cocktails. And it's a neighborhood place that's warm and friendly.

Yelp
So, i called the restaurant to clarify something about the menu. Instead o My menu question was never answered, i still ordered the seafood (my son really wanted mussels red tonight) and was tremendously disappointed with my meal. I had the surf and turf, my son had mussels red. We ordered an app Times 2 because i had no idea how big it was or how many came in the dish. So i have a giant bowl of mussels red in my fridge that no one will eat. Really I'm just super annoyed they got $50 from me

Theresa H.

Yelp
Was at Kelly's Seafood last night, my server Leigh was so friendly, helpful and so personable. Couldn't have had a better experience!!

W B.

Yelp
Excellent, especially Seafood. They're famous for their Crab Cakes, which is their own recipe developed decades ago. Very friendly and attentive staff. I don't know how they're listed as expensive (four dollar signs $$$$). Prices are quite moderate and their early bird menu is as nominal as you'll find for the quality they serve!

Fred B.

Yelp
Great food at reasonable prices! Also very good and friendly service. You can be sure that the fish you're served is fresh!!
google avatar

Yelp
Kelly's Seafood has a long history of serving the best selection of seafood dishes in Northeast Philadelphia. It's one of those places that you have been going to & enjoying for so long that you take it for granted. Well not Today! I'm 5 staring Kelly's for all the years of great food, drinks & service at Diner special prices. Thank you Kelly's!!!

Marta L.

Yelp
Have going back after a couple of years .Going for the early bird first time and second time were great , yesterday went back I got the coconut shrimp which i always do my husband got the fried seafood combination . Usually I get 6 shrimp I guess they are cutting back I had 4 , my husbands dinner was horrible the oyster was mush the flounder was so thin. You had choose of soup or salad my husband got the soup it was so salty. I don't get how you can be good and then turn so bad!o
google avatar

Thomas C.

Yelp
Over the years we've had good experiences here, but our last three visits have provided enough evidence that they're on a rapid decline. Tonight: Super-salty soup. Flat, stale dinner rolls. Overly fishy-tasting fried floundered. Soggy, soft French fries. Dried-out, old, tiny baked potato. Overly fatty, almost tasteless prime rib. Inattentive service. And on top of all that, the waitress appeared annoyed from the moment we sat down. While some might say it's cheap, I say you get what you pay for; and I'd rather pay for a better meal with better service.
google avatar

Kurt M.

Yelp
Thought we'd try this restaurant again. Again, the food was lack luster. Marinara sauce had no seasoning flavors to it. Tasted more like tomato soup. I took leftovers home and added seasonings to it to bring it up to par. Scallops were good. Oyster stew was flat and tasted like it was made with skim milk. Nothing is salted. Portions are plentiful. Prices good. Waitress was attentive and nice. Place was really busy (Saturday afternoon). Will try it once more in a few weeks. So far, Gallos is a much better choice in northeast Philly for good seafood.

Yelp
This feels mean to write so I'm gonna keep it brief. It's an idea that you need to talk yourself out of.

Yelp
I got deliver from Doodash, so i can only comment on the food -Kelly's special #2 - shrimp cake, crab cake & crabmeat. The shrimp and crab cake had too much breading in it and they both were extremely bland. -Buffalo shrimp - Good but it lacked celery to eat along with the blue cheese dressing. -Chopped clams casino - flavorless and very salty. -Crab bisque - good, but hardly any crab in it. I put my crabmeat in it from my main entree to make it better. -Garlic bread - extremely greasy -Fried mozzarella - So bland that i literally had to put my own salt, pepper, and italian seasoning in it to make it taste good. Overall only a few items were good. Most of the food was bland, flavorless, and greasy. I don't understand how this business is still in existence when there are so many better alternatives.

Yelp
A little late to the party but I went here about 3 weeks ago. This place is absolutely amazing and most of it has to do with our amazing waitress Gab. Not only was she the most caring and thoughtful waitress. She also helped walk my aunt to the car when she was sick and all of my family was so thankful for her, it really makes a difference when a stranger goes out of their way to help a family member when they are sick, I would lie if I said I didn't get emotional. I have ate at many restaurants and bars and this was by far my favorite, Gab made the difference. The food was Way below average. Most of my family could barely stomach the food. My uncle Jack threw up because the food made him ill but the reason I am giving 5 stars is because of Gab!! I love a good family business that makes you feel at home. I talked to the workers and they said it was family run. What a great restaurant and a great family! I will be back next Saturday night and I will request Gab as a waitress (SorryImNotSorry) Cya Guys Soon! God Bless Kelly's and God Bless America! God Bless Gab!!

Yelp
Homey, local dine in seafood location. Definitely a locals spot. The owners actually work there and don't sit behind a door. The prices aren't the best, but this local restaurant needs to stay in business to match the big box places (ahem, red lobster). I'd rather have seafood here first any day of the week than a franchise. There is a private parking lot with plenty of space, the interior is olde ship style. There is a bar on the other side of the dining area with TVs as well.

Matt K.

Yelp
I met the family here. After having read the reviews, I probably would not have driven this far otherwise. I'm glad that I went! The decor needs some updating. Not that I believe in fashion, but some of the furniture was too well worn. The ambiance was just right. Not loud, but not a funeral parlor. Service was excellent. We were there at 7 PM on the dot for the all you can eat king crab legs. Unfortunately my minor condition forbids me from eating too much seafood. But after watching 3 of my dining companions, I really wanted to have the same thing :( The waitress was great. I can't even count how many plates of crab legs she brought out. VERY little waiting for the next plate. Me? I had an appetizer of fried calamari, which was cooked perfectly. I mean, these things were CRISPY. But...they were just a little bland. And the accompanying sauce was somewhat bland as well. My entree was excellent, a fried combo platter. Sweet Jeezus, I'm salivating, just thinking about it. I couldn't even eat it all. Maybe I had too much of the appetizer, or too much of the bread. But I have to say that my entire meal was excellent. Prices...hmmm. I think they were just a tad high. Yes, it was quality food, but the menu is not that exceptional. I am definitely a fan of this place, and I would not hesitate to go back. If I lived closer, I think I'd be a regular.

Yelp
This is your everyday run of the mill seafood spot. My gmom loves it here nd she usually gets the crab imperial or something, for me. Its not bad for seafood.

Yelp
I have watched the progression of this restaurant go from decent to bad. The last two times that we ate here the food was borderline inedible. Our waitress along with most of their staff have this nonchalant mannerisms as if taking our order was a total inconvenience. She walked past our table 5 times without removing the dirty dishes. I had to catch hostess walking by to remove them. They are also known for their fresh hot rolls, but on this Tuesday evening they were visibly old and stale and when I asked about them our waitress said that's all they had at 6:00p. After frequenting this establishment over 40 times in my life I will no longer be eating here nor would I recommend it. This place is a dinosaur. I give it 1 star

Yelp
A colleague recommended this place so I thought I'd give it a try. The soup of the day is some sort of chicken soup. My husband didn't like it and said it tasted salty. To me, the soup tasted as if it came from a can. The next thing we tried was the Calamari which was good. It was fresh and light not chewy but lacked a bit of flavor. For the entree, I ordered the buttered shrimp covered in coconut with a side of linguine in white sauce. My husband got the stuffed shrimp. They were both just ok... nothing special. My shrimp didn't have much coconut in it and the linguine in white sauce was just average. The place itself was quite homey and clean but outdated. The staff was pleasant and we didn't wait too long for our food to come. Overall, this restaurant is just average.... just ok...no wow factor.

Yelp
This place used to have really good seafood at an affordable price. We stopped going here because the food started to become consistently bad. I ordered tilapia last time. It had alot of dark spots and tasted very fishy. Tilapia should never taste fishy... I don't even understand how that is possible. That was our last visit here. Food definately went downhill.

Yelp
Save your time and your money the food is not good at all! The customer service was good and bathroom clean that was it.

Yelp
Restaurant clean. The menus and condiments stickie. Service good. Food. Salad v tired and frosted. Veg n' rice soup tasty. Fried flounder v poor and fishy tasting. Not appetising. Oven fries. Stewed tomatoes, pedestrian at best. Jelly. Can't really go wrong. Toilets, filthy. Rank smell of drains from the kitchens in the parking lot. 4th generation of Kelly's are not hacking it alas.

Yelp
Not what it was. Kelly's is tired. This venerable seafood house is thread bare and the food only amplified the stagnant experience. The Manhattan Clam Chowder was a lukewarm gelatinous mix with a few whole clam bodies. The breading is heavy and repeated to the mostly breading filling of the deviled crab stick and clam. The early bird desert is jello only and the offered daily soup is take or leave it. Offering to up grade, pay the difference on desert or soup is not within the rules. Kelly's was fine in 1995, it's time to rehab or move on. Nostalgia, that left an ache in my stomach and a charge for a soft drink refill. Perhaps that's soda tax compliance. Don't misconstrue the twenty percent tip for an endorsement of the poorly prepared food, just recognition that the server needs to be paid too. I forgot to mention the men's room is really dirty.

Yelp
It was between a 3-4, I thought the food was really good so did everyone else in my party but we had other issues. 1. We mad a reservation for a 7:15 and weren't sat until almost 8. The waitress messed up our order not once but twice. It was a very busy night so we said we would try it again on a weeknight instead.

Yelp
I went to Kelly's last night for the all you can eat Dungeness crabs special. My friend was very excited and we got there at 7pm when it started. After 40 minutes no food came out and we kept being told the food would be coming soon. I asked to speak to a manager and she wasnt apologetic at all. Instead she had an attitude about it. We ended up leaving, I know it's a pandemic but the restaurant was empty. I like some of their food but they are so slow. Won't be returning.

Yelp
Let me star by saying I hate leaving bad reviews and if you notice my reviews I typically post only good ones u less something is really bad. Unfortunately the food at Kelly's was awful. Flavorless, dry and overcooked. The service was ok. The seafood was dry and over cooked, had zero flavor! No salt or anything. The only decent thing was the soup. The silverware wasn't the cleanest either! I believe this place caters mostly to the elderly population who can't have well seasoned food. The crab cakes has ZERO crab mostly just filling/bread and almost tasted raw in the middle the texture inside was like mush. The waitress offered to speak to management but there is no point as this is just the food they serve since they are accommodating mostly to the elderly who can't have salt or a lot of seasoning. Such a shame because years ago we used to love it here and the food was good from what had remembered. I guess after so many years (close to 10-15 years) this place just went down hill or maybe the population in the area just changed I don't know but needless to say we will not be coming back.

Yelp
This place is awesome! So clean and the food is fantastic. Service is always good and the staff is very friendly. I usually get the all you can eat crab legs but tonight I went with something new tonight, the Italian shrimp and scallops. It was incredible! ...cooked to perfection with a little added sautéed mushrooms. Bon appétit...
