NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"Kente Cones, a former pop-up that made frequent appearances at street fairs and festivals, has opened a brick-and-mortar in East New York. The African-inspired ice cream shop offers creatively named flavors, like Granny’s Favorite (butter pecan) and also a lot of vegan flavors, like Melanin Madness, a Ghanaian chocolate crunch." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

I just had the mango pineapple sorbet at Kente Cones and it was delicious! 🍍🥭 Everything is made with all-natural ingredients, and you can really taste the difference. It’s a Black-owned spot with a welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home here in East New York. The owner makes everything herself, and you can tell it’s made with love. This is exactly what the neighborhood needed—ice cream for the win! 🍦✨

The best ice cream I’ve had in a long time. Everything is homemade with amazing flavor. The lady at the counter was so sweet and welcoming, she explained all the ingredients and how she gets fresh cookies from another baker that’s homemade also. They had story time which was amazing to see, authors were sitting waiting to read to the kids coming in. Lovely an absolute 10 , we’ll definitely be going back again.

Absolutely loved this ice cream shop! From the moment we walked in, it felt like visiting family. The atmosphere was clean, cozy, and incredibly welcoming. The young lady who helped us was so patient. She explained all the flavors, offered us generous samples, and made sure we felt right at home. She was kind, attentive, and truly a joy to interact with. I even had a little dance break with her sweet daughter, who was happily coloring nearby. It was such a wholesome, heartwarming experience. The Ethiopian coffee flavor was out of this world. I’ll definitely be back and you should come check it out too! Trust me 🙌🏾

Amazing service, amazing flavors, and an incredible touch of culture! Kente Cone isn’t just an ice cream shop it’s an experience. The art on the walls tells a story, and every scoop is full of flavor and love. Highly recommended! Everyone should stop by and get a scoop (or two… or five!)

My boyfriend and I were so happy to find this local ice cream shop and we can’t stop coming back. I thought the chocolate was my favorite, but then we had the cookies and cream. Even when the weather is cold this is our favorite treat! The pints are great to take home too!

Hands down the best ice cream in the city! If I could I would buy buckets and buckets of the Ethiopian coffee flavor. They also have milkshakes for every flavor. Whether you’re in the neighborhood or traveling in, this is a must visit spot 🔥🙌🏾

Shop is clean and inviting. The people working behind the counter are friendly and helpful. The ice cream was so good, especially with this hot weather. I had the coffee ice cream and I would definitely go back again. I'm editing this review on 10/22/25 I just had the pistachio ice cream and it was Ah-maz-ing!!!!!! Rich flavor and full of nuts. The only thing I needed was some creamy liqueur poured over it. Kente Cones is still clean, and still has excellent customer service!
