I was looking for a place to get Turkish food and found this on the map, the food is amazing! Everything was cooked well and the taste was great. Price was very reasonable and the staff is very friendly! If you’re looking for a nice place to get lunch, don’t hesitate to give this place a try!

Went to this place last night and food was awesome! I had the chicken chops and were grilled to perfection! Also had the eggplant salad …all were amazing. The service was great, too given we were there a little late in the evening. Definitely be going back here! I came back here and had the pleasure of meeting the owners. They were so kind and friendly and chatted with us. She even shared a special dessert she made for her and her husband. I encourage everyone to pay a visit here, you will not be disappointed!

We were really in the mood for Adana Kebab and this place did justice. We also ordered the chicken shish + lamb gyro combo (politely asked if it was possible, and they were fine with it) and a mixed meze appetizer. I found the Adana kebab to be great. At some points a bit meatball-ish, but maybe some extra spices would do the trick. Would still come back & get this again. Lamb gyro was on the drier side, wouldn’t recommend. Chicken shish was delicious and very, very tender. we both thought this was the best meat option of our order. Mixed meze was good, although they don’t let you add tzatziki to it, so I would suggest ordering it on its own. The grape leaves, eggplant salad, and whatever spicy one in the top left of my photo were A1! Perfect for the free bread. The white sauce they supply with the dishes is just bad. It tastes like watered down mayo with maybe some dried herb. It’s not good. Their hot sauce / spicy sauce was very mid.

Been coming here for years, it’s too overlooked. The house bread is fantastic, the Turkish coffee is beautiful, the stuffed grape leaves, eggplant salad, tabbouleh, any of the cold apps essentially. GO GO GO support these guys

OMG! Where can I start 🤔....well it started when my brother suggested Turkish food for lunch and mentioned this small place in Greenpoint and the rest is history! I am so hooked that I was there for Mother's day and returned the following day with my son! Please do try the Stuffed Cabbage with ground lamb. Made just right, if not better and not dense at all. Service and quality of food surpasses other restaurants in the area. You will not regret your visit .

Chicken Chops - 9/10 Chicken Adana - 8/10 Lamb Shawarma - 9/10 Mushroom salad - 7/10 Atmosphere - 9/10 Service - 6/10 Great place to take family and friends. I enjoyed the food. Mushroom salad was something different. A lot of lemon in it made it a bit sour but it was ok. I like that they cook the lamb shawarma a bit well done. Chicken chops were giant and tender. Chicken adana was full of flavor. Eat everything hot 🔥 and it will taste really good. You can make your own food combinations. The waitors won't do it but the chef will. Service was not so great for me. Once the waitor served the food, he never came back again.

Was craving kebabs and they did not disappoint. Everything was seasoned and made to perfection! Already recommended this place to a lot of people too.

I love this place. The Chicken Kebab is a go-to for me for a quick health-ish dinner. It is a quiet friendly place with good food. I wish. Could provide a better review for their other dishes, but the Chicken Kebab is so good, I have never moved on from that.

Terrible. Been ordering here for years. I ordered through Uber eats for the first time tonight and this restaurant gave me stale pita bread with my baba ganoush. When I called to ask the restaurant if they were no longer making their delish Turkish bread the woman on the phone told me "not when ordering through Uber eats because costs are too high". We're talking about bread so how can I trust the quality of any of their food if they change the type of bread based on the app you order through. She was very unapologetic and rude. Told me she didn't know who I was and didn't care how long I've been coming there. I will never order from here again. Side note, saw someone posted about food poisoning just three months ago. Not surprised. I threw out my order after my conversation with the restaurant and seeing that review.

Honestly the food here sucks and its pretty scary inside. Went on a friday night. Customer service is good.

This review is actually going to be very hard to me to write because I've been trying to not think about this experience but I feel like it's my job to warn others so they stay away. In my 31- almost 32 years of being alive, I've never had food poisoning... until I ate at Kestane Kebab. To start off, we had a weird vibe as soon as we walked in. But my boyfriend suggested we ate here and he had been before so I figured maybe they were just short staffed. In hindsight, it's obvious that this place isn't up to health codes. Idk why or how they have an A in the window. Anyway, I ordered the chicken gyro and it was just "okay" tasting. It definitely wasn't good but I didn't realize that it was actually bad. After eating it that afternoon, I didn't experience any symptoms until about 7-8pm. Around 9pm I had the absolute WORST stomach pains I've ever had in my life. Around 11pm I felt like I had to throw up so badly but couldn't. I had cold sweats, a headache and was in the most pain I've experienced in my life. Finally I had to force myself to throw up around 3am and then eventually I was throwing up the rest of the night. The symptoms just kept getting worse and worse and at one point I was on the bathroom floor contemplating if I should call an ambulance. I'm 100% convinced I got Salmonella poisoning from Kestane Kebab. It was the only food I ate that day and the chicken was suspicious. I should've known better. I was sick from Saturday until about Thursday that week. I had to call out of work on Monday. I was bed ridden for days. PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!! This has been a traumatic experience I don't wish on anyone. It's not worth it.

Former review was 10 years ago where the guy on the phone was a complete D. Made me hate them while loving the food so much. Fast forward, yes... I've been eating there still over the last ten years in secret. As much as I hated the staff, the food is too good. I don't know what's authentic Turkish food but this place does everything right. Starting with the best soup ever created, the lentil soup. I've searched many places that served lentil soup but not one came close to how delicious Kestane did it. The chicken kebab, the chicken chop, the chicken gyro, the Adana are some of the best skewers and grilled meats out there. Everything is great. The pita bread is the most authentic and delicious bread I've had from any Mediterranean restaurant. It's basically what Jesus ate. I mean, the bread alone is worth the visit alone. So hate them or love them, some ill regarded emotional feelings of the past, can't stop me from coming back. Love hate relationship.

My go to place for some delicious babaganoush and homemade bread. The kanafeh was drenched in the honey, so I would suggest getting it on the side. Great service as well!

Kestane is my go to when I need filling, flavorful meal without indulging in cheesy or doughy foods. The chicken gyro/platter is so yum and fresh. I get the babaganoush and have it as a lil pre-dinner snack for 3-4 days. Lentil soup is absolutely delicious. My gut always thanks me after eating KK.

Just stumbled upon this place and I'm so glad I did! Fabulous authentic Turkish food, very reasonable prices, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. No complaints at all. I will definitely be back!

A few year ago, my Turkish friend introduced me this restaurant and told me this restaurant is very authentic. It's the same flavor they taste in Turkey. Ever since then whenever I have an urge for Turkish or Mediterranean food, Kestane kebab is my go to place. Their Gyro is so tender and juice. I would say it's the best in town. Lentil soup are superb. Hummus and baba ganoush are top on my list, too. I just learn the other days that they make their own bread. No wonder the breads are always warm and fresh. My orders are always fast and the staffs are friendly. I am very happy they moved to Franklin Street. Now they have more sitting area inside the restaurant and also a beautiful outdoor sitting area decorated with beautiful Turkish pots and flower. So many good restaurants are out of business due to the pandemic. I am very happy to see Kestane survives. Personally I will definitely dine in or take out more to support my favorite restaurant. I hope everybody can do the same.

No thank you. Ordered a lot of their food after craving Turkish food. Not worth it! Dry kebab, cinnamon flavored dolmas yuck! Bad eggplant salad. Go elsewhere for Turkish. Try Turkish Grille in Sunnyside instead. Btw, my grandmother was Turkish. I know my stuff!

Had a very awkward dinner where the server basically ignored the two women at the table. The food was fine though again, the men at the table were prioritized and attended to while I had to remind the server of my missing drink and food. The spicy vegetable dip and bread were tasty. Falafel was fine- service left a bad taste in my mouth.

Our company has been ordering from this restaurant pretty much anytime our business orders "lunch on the house" for the employees. I keep complaining about the lack of quality vs price [because there is a $20 cap for each associate but everything on their menu worth eating is $20 and up. The quality vs price ratio is so incredibly low I can't comprehend how we keep placing these orders, as they literally mess something up every... single... time... ... Either white sauce will be minimal [like a tiny vial for a meal for 5 people] or entire entrees will be left out and not delivered... EVERY.... SINGLE... TIME... .... so basically, if you want to PAY EXORBITANT PRICES for some below-average Middle-Eastern food that will always come with missing entress/items and incorrectly portioned condiments cooked in a way that tastes less pleasing that getting Halal Food at pretty much any Deli in Greenpoint.... well than this is your place... ... I sincerely hope our business stops giving money to this restaurant. I keep complaining and asking to order from literally any other restaurant... any single one [they're almost ALL better than this place around here and the VAST MAJORITY charge prices that ACTUALLY MAKE SENSE and DON'T FORGET ENTIRE ENTREES EVERY SINGLE TIME AN ORDER IS PLACED/DELVERED] and hoping maybe the next time we are ready to do this we just do a random draw or something (WAAAAYYYYY less risky than ordering from this place because they will straight up NOT BRING ALL THE FOOD YOU PAID FOR every single time). 6 orders since I started from this place. Every single order was missing items. Like entire meals (not just sides). For the love of all that is holy stay away from the place and just throw your money in a furnace instead; at least that way it will keep you warm for a little few seconds [which has more objective value that ordering from a place that literally forgets entire entrees everytime a deliery is processed]. Just.... no thank you. No.... thank.... you.... order from literally ANYWHERE ELSE.... I promise you'll get a better deal and odds are you'll actually get everything you ordered... which I know is a BIG ASK (sarcasm) but.... you know....

I was high and starving so I decided to check this place out. Chef wasn't wearing any gloves but usually the dirtiest locations have the best food. I ordered the chicken shish. It was ok. The best part was the cabbage and rice. The chicken was pretty dry. I may come back if I'm in the mood.

They are wonderful. Consistent service on the phone over the years, order always perfect with extra stuff thrown in sometimes. I'm a vegetarian... the spicy veggie dip is something from my dreams. I often order the lentil soup -- delicately flavored with mint. The Kestane salad is huge and fresh and a great bargain. Highly recommended!

I live in the neighborhood and order from here regularly. They have the best lentil soup I've ever tried and their falafel pita is consistently fresh and delicious. I usually order from seamless but I've been inside for pick up a few times as well - the man at the front has always been friendly and my order is always ready on time. Highly recommend!

We have been coming here for lunch twice a week for the last year. The food is fantastic and consistent. The portions are generous and great value. The beer is cold fast to come to the table. The owner is super friendly and we always have a good laugh. Highly recommend.

Such a great Turkish restaurant and so happy the moved closer to my new apartment. Having tried most of what they have, I can say it's all incredible. This has been one of my go-to's for years and now that they have an incredible dining room and outdoor space, I will be eating there much more often!

We ordered a couple of falafel sandwiches for take-out. When we went to pick them up, there was a worker (maybe the manager) walking around without a mask. The food was bland and the veggies in it were old. You know that weird texture when a tomato has been left out for too long. We may give them a second chance in the future (if the workers start wearing masks full time), maybe they were having a particularly bad day.

Chicken and lamb were dry. Service wasn't the greatest. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

Love Kestane Kebab! It's a go-to spot for lunch and dinner in Greenpoint. Lamb gyro is fantastic! We love the service and staff are so kind. Could not recommend more for Turkish food in NYC.

Was worried by the lukewarm reviews but had a good experience getting delivery from here. They're open for delivery relatively late which another plus in my books. I got their large sampler platter which is a great deal - comes with your choice of 5 appetizers. I had baba ganoush (good although not particularly smokey), eggplant salad (very yummy, I love this stuff), eggplant with tomato (my favorite side to my surprise, eggplant was very flavorful mixed in with tomato, this dish was actual pieces of eggplant, not a dip/puree like the baba ganoush and eggplant salad), hummus (meh, thicker than ideal), tabouli (good, quite a bit of acidity), mushroom salad (tasty though not standout), beets (far to acidic for me, I could only take a few bites before giving up). I'd stick to their eggplant dishes in general where they shine!

Yummy yummy Must say the eggplant was delicious so was the rice , salad , lamb and chicken . Will be ordering again oh and delivery is great as well im in long island city queens and they delivered there as well. Next ill try the salmon.

The food used to be good. But now it arrives cold, and undercooked. The rice used to be intoxicating. But now it's merely adequate. Dessert? The rice pudding is now more like rice pudding soup. The delivery is crap. There's always an excuse... "It took too long to print the order." "It's better if you order from our website, not Seamless." They are less than 1 1/2 miles from my apartment, yet always take MORE than an hour to deliver. (Tonight, it was an hour and a half) And truth be told, we all know that it takes less than 5 minutes to assemble a kebab. Not worth the money, nor the time.

Love this place! The food is delicious and I never have to wait long. I always get the baked eggplant which is really yummy, I highly recommend trying it. I also often see people coming out really happy with their gyros and such. The people that work there are also really good guys, I live in the area and they are always sweet to my dog and also helped me out one time when I was being harassed by a stranger, so I can't speak highly enough. TLDR: Good food, good people, treat yo'self and hit them up!

Having just returned from Greece I will say the food here is just as fresh and authentic then anything I tasted abroad. While it's Turkish and not Greek they have similar dishes made ever so slightly differently but very tasty. Great quantities, lovely atmosphere and outside seating and a warm family owned and operated staff. Girly recommend. Also used them to cater a large bbq recently which was a big hit and a huge help.

Hey guys this is my favorite restaurants when I'm in Brooklyn I go there at least twice to three times a week the food is delicious in authentic. please know the food is authentic and delicious.

Even better than on nassau!! Why? You feel like you're back in Istanbul. The beautiful Turkish songs they play. !! (I am of Polish heritage but this place makes me feel at home more than the polish restaurants here in gp) the waiter is amazing! Recommending Turkish shows and music. The owner is so sweet! Also, obviously the Food!!!! The Kofte!!! Guys come on have it!!! I don't work out much but if you do eat it 5 times a week!!!! The kofte tastes beautifully spiced just like in turkey and the baklava same! Tea, coffee, ambiance, I love it here!!!! So much! :)))) happy place!!!!

Explain ordering food online and receiving a phone call that they can't deliver because your too far. Ok, no problem. So where is my refund? I ordered directly from your site. WHERE IS MY REFUND? I have called to inquire twice? No one has any answers and the owner has yet to call me back. I DID NOT RECEIVE MY FOOD !!! WHERE IS MY MONEY!!

What a difference! Kestane has not only moved to a better, beautiful new location, they have upgraded their food and service. Everything arrived quickly and was obviously made fresh to order and arrived hot. We kept it simple with their awesome Red Lentil soup, falafel in pita and chicken kebab (marinated breast chunks)perfectly seasoned, big portions (comes with rice and salad) and well priced. Happy to have you in North Greenpoint Kestane!

I am a big follower of Kestane Kebab. If you want to taste traditional fine Turkish food in a causy spot , you should check this place out. Lentil soup and Chicken gyro are outstanding. It makes me feel home, istanbul. Get the the cold and hot Eggplant dishes , and remember my comment when it starts melting in your mouth like a sweet butter.

I loveeeeeeeeeeee the food here soooooo much that I placed an order 4x in a week lmao. I just wish they weren't cheap with their white sauce or rice portion. I'll continue to order but hope they won't be cheap in the future lol.

Typical Middle Eastern menu with a Turkish spin on things here. I had the Chicken Shawarma in a pita for $7. Having a wrap or a plate is another option. Big portions and good quality with a solid amount of meat. Will be back to try some of the other menu options.

Not one to leave reviews, but I thought my appalling experience here deserved some recognition. I was greeted by the owner saying, "what would you like? We don't serve Chinese food here". His kitchen staff thought it was pretty funny and laughed along. What seemed like some of his regulars chimed in with "asian" inspired pita suggestions and then continued insulting me in their own language (turkish?). The foreign staff adds to the illusion of authenticity to the food, but please keep your old-world, backwards-a$$, racist humor to yourself or GTFO! It's 2018; Your Turkish Man Club mentality and horrible food add nothing to this neighborhood.

Still my favorite falafel I have ever had. I love that you can choose between a pita and a wrap. I always get the wrap and add hummus. The sauces they give you are what really makes it, the white sauce and hot sauce are the best. Get extra! I love ordering delivery from here and they stay open pretty late. Prices are super affordable. Also the cheese rolls are amazing deep fried almost spring rolls filled with delicious and salty cheese.

This place is an absolute hidden gem. Delicious kebabs. Great outdoor area. Loved it.
