Yelp
Ketch Grill & Taps feels like a perfect San Diego restaurant. Located on Shelter Island in Point Loma, Ketch is diagonally across the street from Brigantine and is providing a great spot for a scenic dining experience. Parking in the area is mostly metered, but plentiful in nearby parking lots. If you come for an evening dinner, you can avoid having to pay the meters.
The restaurant itself has indoor and outdoor dining areas along with a full service bar. On a beautiful afternoon, we opted for outdoor seating and had an incredible view of the harbor! The sun was shining, but because of the coastal marine layer, the weather stayed cool enough to be enjoyable.
The lunch menu offers a wide variety of appetizers, salads, entrees and mains. The appetizers are large enough to be a meal and all of the sandwiches come with two sides!
I ordered the turkey club but subbed sourdough for the onion roll. The sandwich was delicious and the ingredients were crisp and tasty. For my sides, I chose fries and potato salad. The only surprise for me was that the potato salad was actually breakfast potatos (fried) mixed in with some mayo and onion. I was hoping for a refreshing cold potato salad, but it was tasty. It just wasn't what I was hoping for. I'd likely pick a different side in the future.
Other delectable bites I saw included the fish and chips, ahi tuna bowl (served with farro instead of rice) and the onion rings.
Service was prompt, portions were large and the food came out quickly. Solid experience for a very San Diego experience!
