"It’s called Hamburger Heaven but this popular Canaryville late-night haunt serves many types of foods at all hours of the day. Craving pancakes and omelets at 10 p.m., or jerk chicken tacos and a T-bone steak at 6 a.m.? Whatever folks want, the kitchen can make it happen." - Jeffy Mai, Eater Staff

Sadly, as much as my party of 4 looked forward to this visit, it left us very disappointed. If the cost alone wasn't enough to keep us from a second visit, the service was. They were not busy, no one in front or behind us. But sadly, the two young ladies serving us rushed us all out of there and seemed troubled by our wanting ice for our drinks and napkins. We got back to the car with no ketchup for our French fries and decided to skip it as we'd have had to just wait at the window again to only be greeted by annoyed employees.

Google
Recently visited this establishment just get a quick bite too eat which was sausage egg an cheese on wheat. What didn't set to well with me was how utterly ridiculous the prices were, in my opinion when item's are grossly overpriced it sets the of expectations pretty high. Also got the 5 tacos Tuesday deal which a okay except they don't put any cheese on them an will charge 75 cent per taco...🤔 I asked about the pancake breakfast again another one...$13.00 plus change just for 2 pancakes 2 eggs 2 pcs of bacon. Overall not a go to spot for daily eats because of the price's.

Google
Ordered sirloin with eggs and grits. Got this sloppy mess of sweaty eggs, half-cooked meat and tasteless grits. Vile

Google
They need to do a total makeover, improve their food. Steak was tuff and dry. The toast was stale🙄

LaTasha Morris

Google
My food was so delicious on Saturday, I returned to have dinner with my family on Sunday. The double Cheeseburger on toasted wheat with mayo, grilled onion, lettuce, tomato, and pickle. The next day I had Tbone steak with grill onions, tomatoes, mash potatoes with gravy, and green beans.

Venus Simpson

Google
The food was ok ..the thing i didn't like was how dirty it was inside the store. They need to remodel.. but overall the food was nice ,the service was nice ,friendly and quick. Good job on that...

Tri Mazi

Google
Pretty good. Food was awesome. So was the service and I'm a picky eater. My only complaint was that they don't know how to make scrambled eggs FLUFFY instead of flat which is fried on each side. And their grits are overcooked and watery. Perfect after party truck stop.

Google
This place needs to do better with how they handle food. The cook went from handling steak for tacos to fixing up my bun, lettuce, and tomato. When I asked for her to change gloves there seemed to be a problem. I don’t see how this place is still open honestly.

Yelp
*FIRST TIMER* First time ordering here, always wanted to order here. I used Uber eats. Def ordering from them again

Peter T.

Yelp
Ordered the 2x2x2 special, the eggs taste like plastic, and the coffee is so light almost like water.

Carlton J.

Yelp
Still delicious. But they stop taking care of the spot. They need a renovation. Tacos we're delicious. The T bone steak still the best.

Jerome N.

Yelp
I got the one and only burger with cheese. Very plain. Nothing to it except their burger is supposed to be seasoned. I could taste a little bit of it. I felt like it could use more seasoning and even some kind of sauce. The burger is juicy. The service was great. Very nice people and very accommodating. There is some seating available. It's a small space but no one was there when we went so that wasn't a problem. It's a bit divey. Try it if you're hungry. If not, I would go somewhere else.

Yelp
This is my third time ordering from this place and every time I'm disappointed but this one is it for me. I was overcharged and my food was not up to part for the price. I usually use Uber eats but today I decided to go up to the actual restaurant. Super disappointed overall. Steak is really salty and burned ( I asked for well done not crispy burnt) eggs not scrambled like I asked. Not to mention the kitchen staff doesn't wear mask or gloves. I called in and placed my order of three items from this place. I called myself supporting small neighborhood business but I will not be back. Really a true hole in the wall. Afterwards I calculated the food I got through the Uber eats app and it was cheaper. I feel like they stole from me. Usually I would go get my money back I'm too angry and I learned a valuable lesson.

Tiffany W.

Yelp
So I ordered the ham and cheese club today just trying something new from here and I must say I was highly disappointed but their burgers are good and I think that's what I'll stick to and their steaks.

Chris K.

Yelp
Sign out front says you can't enter without a mask but half the people working there weren't wearing a mask and were yelling orders over food being prepared. Also half the customers weren't wearing masks and were served anyway. I would never recommend a place that has no courtesy for other people's health and well being. Never again.

Yelp
My sister ordered 2 Denver omelettes, 2 Orange juice, 2 sodas this morning only to have only one order of only one omelet breakfast. Unacceptable!! I called the number listing only was the voicemail box was full. We were given 9 orders of sausages! My advice is to make sure your order is completed even checking with the driver. I will never call this place again!

Susan F.

Yelp
Hubby ordered the t-bone steak dinner via Uber Eats. Arrived earlier than expected. The steak was delicious, as were the mashed potatoes and dark gravy. We split one steak and had enough to share with our kitties (they enjoyed also!). Came with bread, which we will give to the birds. Also came with A1 steak sauce - very generous. We got two side salads and the Ranch dressing was excellent. All in all, it was a very surprisingly delicious dinner and I would definitely order from Kevin's again.

Sharon W.

Yelp
WOWOWOWOWOW! This is a waste of time for me to comment because the owner is going to continue to employ LESS THAN minimum wage workers. Use to be a favorite place of mine. Food is good-not worth the price. I'm sitting in my car writing this review AMAZED at the level of UNPLEASANT and UNPROFESSIONAL customer service. I understand that these people are uneducated that are working here, BUT it doesn't require education to SPEAK! SMILE! BE FRIENDLY! COURTEOUS! I ALWAYS tip. ALWAYS‼ BUT NOT TODAY‼ She just looked at me when I tried to order. Dirty dishes were EVERYWHERE. I had to ask her if she was working my area. She didn't acknowledge me even trying to pay. Held her hand out for my payment and looked the other way. I'm in disbelief! I'll patronize ANYBODY except for this place. Get me once, shame on YOU. Get me twice, SHAME ON ME‼ (There should be an option for ZERO stars‼)

Cameron M.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite, but they have fallen to my never return list. The steak and egg combo is horrible. The eggs were good but the meat was nearly paper thin and over cooked (probably because its paper thin).

Daniel S.

Yelp
Dependable 24 hour late night drunk food haven. Especially since Johnny Oh's closed on 35th, this is the place to go to at 3am in Bridgeport. I've been there a few times now, don't always remember what I order, but I now I've gotten the pancakes, fries, and tacos. All are good and get the job done, and not expensive either. Nothing glamorous but it's exactly what you want at the end of the night

Pon Y.

Yelp
In bridgeport this one place one should come. Breakfast is fit for a king!!! Come and eat good...

Asia M.

Yelp
Pros : ample parking , security on weekends , Food : had chili cheese fries which comes with lettuce tomatoes Steak tocos , break food pancakes grits and ham all the food was excellent They have placed bullet prof glass up know to protect the employees ( umm ok) I will go back really enjoyed myself !

Some Guy Y.

Yelp
I work late nights and get off usually around 5 AM. This is my go too for delivery when i get off work! good prices and portions! the burgers are great and the mashed potatoes are amazing with their gravy! i cant stop myself from ordering. i keep trying something new whenever i order and I'm never disappointed! definitely worth it! five stars!

Jess R.

Yelp
One word - PANCAKES!! They are so awesome, can't get enough of them! The steaks are super thin and/or super small (t-bone is large but super, super thin - not worth the price). Corned beef hash is really, really good and the eggs are usually cooked correctly (when you ask for scrambled, be clear in the notes and tell them NOT to put that crappy cheese in them - so gross!). Hash browns are super greasy - soak it up with a paper towel before eating unless you wanna be kneeling at the throne all night. Breakfast meats - soooo awesome! Best deal is the triple special - 3 of each meat, 3 eggs and 3 of those fabulous pancakes. Can't forget to mention the tacos - as authentic as we get from the local place but over a $1 cheaper here so definitely order from Kevin's on taco Tuesdays!

Susan E.

Yelp
We just ordered from here and had it delivered. We ordered two bacon cheeseburgers with no mayo. What we got was two cheeseburgers with no bacon and lots of mayo. When we called the woman we spoke to was rude. She said the cook doesn't add special items to burgers. If you order a bacon cheeseburger the bacon shouldn't be a special add on. Also when asked about the mayo she stated I don't know. We told her this is the first and last time we will order from here. She didn't seem to care and hung up. Rude employees only hurt your business and being able to get an order right is always helpful.

Melanie M.

Yelp
The tacos were okay but I prefer authentic Mexican food. I had two ground beef tacos that taste like a hamburger patty that was crumbled up. I think I'll just stick to the breakfast at 3am after a ton of drinks.

Claudine P.

Yelp
Just how I remember this place from 13 years ago. If you're looking for the best service, then do not go here. I guess you can consider this place to the "Waffle House" of Chicago. You come in, sit down on one of the stools and wait for someone to take your order. Now to the food. The pancakes are fluffy and the eggs are Nicely scrambled. You definitely get your monies worth. My wife ordered a pork chop sandwich and in true Chicago form it was served on regular sandwich bread with the bone still in it, so If you order it be careful when taking a bite. The ladies behind the counter are hilarious and kept us laughing the entire time we were there. As others have stated, it's not in the best neighborhood so make sure you're not making a pit stop here at night.

BhreeAnna B.

Yelp
Ordered the Deuce special (3 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausages) , hashbrowns, fries , & a Double Bacon Burger. Also an icecream. Everything was delicious except the fries, they were greasy and disgusting. The lady on the phone was very very pleasant also. I ONLY PAID $25 with the delivery fee for all that food.

Nama L.

Yelp
Kevin is my only go to spot for breakfast. When I first started going here, the waitresses would have me dying of laughter from their sassiness and sarcasm. Kind of ended or rather subsided. But these ladies are REAL Chicagoans. Now, I go because they make a KICK A$$$ breakfast.

Rocky B.

Yelp
This joint ain't too shabby. My brother took me to Kevin's on Saturday so I could try their "One of a kind" burger. It was pretty tasty. Seasoned with what I think was Lawry's Seasoning Salt, cooked just right and topped with lettuce, onion and tomato and of course I added cheese. Probably not the best burger I've ever had but at that price it can't be beat. I can't say I would go out of my way to come here but if in the area I would definitely stop in again. Oh and the counter staff was very entertainng and only added to that gruff diner feel.

Ericka L.

Yelp
Love love love their steak, egg, and pancake breakfast!! My boyfriend introduced me to this crappy looking dive 2 years ago and we dont go there often but when we decide to its a big treat! I've only had the food I mentioned above and I dont think I NEED to try anything else just to tell you that I love their food. The steak is super tender, well seasoned, and they give you loads of A-1 sauce to dress it. The pancakes are fluffy and delicious, and the eggs are lovely. Overall...I wouldnt be seen in this joint for long periods of time (ate there once and decided that carry-out was my best bet) but man...just try their steak & eggs breakfast. Keep the car running...LOL.

Ellen M.

Yelp
I was jonesing extra mightily for a cheeseburger - nothing else would do. I got the cheeseburger, complete with grilled onions, pickles, other decently non-lethal stuff, a shitty booth, one of the best milkshakes I've ever met, a fucking insane waitress (who I hugged before leaving), and extra grease. Holy God Damn, it was good.

Rupert V.

Yelp
This is a strange "four star"er for me. This place is an old school truck stop, right here in Chicago. They have $5.99 T-bone steaks to prove it too. Not that I would recommenda $5.99 T-bone to anyone. Nope the only thing I recommend is the burger. Quite possibly the best "old school" burger in the whole city. And by old school I mean fatty (as opposed to lean) ground beef fried on a griddle rather than charred on a grill, piles of mayo, american cheese and wonder bread buns. These are the burgers our parents ate at roller skate drive ins. These are the burgers that our grandparents fought the Nazi's in order to defend. Cause if you've ever had a German burger, it ain't nothin' like this.... However, this place really is a 24-hour truck stop, and even in broad daylight there are some rough and tough clientele there. I'm also told that there is an armed security guard there at night. So if you want to try the burger that your grandfather fought for, be prepared to fight for it yourself. And stay away from the T-bone....

Steven W.

Yelp
I live practically within spitting distance of this old truck stop diner, and it definitely has its good and bad moments. During the day, Kevin's is a nice place to grab breakfast and coffee. The staff is generally nice and knows the area well. At night, this place is a hell hole. All orders have to be pre-paid from 9 PM to 5 AM, and they had to install bulletproof glass and a revolving window around the diner counter recently because of the horrible patrons at night. Every weekend there is a fight, and every couple of months there is a shooting or armed robbery. Owners of Kevin's, you've got a great place and I appreciate the armed security at night. But this neighborhood would patronize your diner a LOT more if you just closed for the night, especially after 12 AM. The clientele that emerges from Fuller Park and the projects ruins it for me, and I don't feel safe coming here any more, as I'm sure others in the area feel.

Paul F.

Yelp
"That's weird that the two egg special is $2.60 on the weekend and $1.30 on weeknights. Oh well" Then we finished our plates and the waitress brought us two more. We slapped five and couldn't finish the grits. Burgers are good as mentioned before. Now I would easily rate this Kevin's higher, but I, on two separate occasions, smashed roaches scurrying across the damn counter. Clearly I didn't learn my lesson with the first roach, but it would be criminal to withhold this information from you, the yelp review reader.

Sade J.

Yelp
Overpriced Bridgeport Dinner I mainly only go for there coffee with cream and sugar. It's delicious and you don't have to add anything extra cream or sugar. It's perfect coffee to me even though I'm no coffee specialist. But the food is ridiculously over priced. You can easily order two cheese burgers and fries and pay $20. They charge for extra everything. Just stick with the coffee.

Zach J.

Yelp
This is a Bridgeport establishment not a Canaryville restaurant. You have to go to the other side of Pershing to be in Canaryville, so that is an inaccuracy on yelp's part. Anyway, this is no place to go nuts about but it is quite good fast food, The burgers are pretty tasty and I was able to eat two of them. I liked the fries, they so reminded me of Mcdonald's fries. I had the chicken noodle soup but it was not good and left an aftertaste I did not like, like I just licked rust. Come here for the burgers and fries and the friendly service, and this place is 24 hours a day.

Brian P.

Yelp
Up until I ate at Lou Mitchell's, this place served up the best breakfast I had eaten in Chicago. So Kevin's and Lou's are the upper echelon and everyone else is a class below. That's quite an honor to be bestowed upon such a greasy spoon. When you come here for breakfast, do yourself a favor and come hungry or you'll just end up wasting a feast fit for a king. I ordered pancakes and eggs and when the order was served, it came on two plates. The pancakes occupied one plate completely and the eggs and potatoes the other. Oh yeah, this place is DIRT CHEAP! If you've yet to eat here, do so immediately.

Sam T.

Yelp
Something about a good greasy diner. There aren't too many of these types left. But come on in after a sox game and you'll see a staff that works a grill quickly and you can have breakfast/lunch/diner 24 hours a day! The burgers are awesome as it's a rarity to find a hand patted burger. It may cost a little more then a whopper or a big mac. But hey...do you want a frozen with sub-par ingredients. OR DO YOU WANT A FRESH MEAT BURGER!!! Come on in....and dig in!

Charles P.

Yelp
I used to really like it here as a neighborhood go to spot. But as of late, the prices are too high for what they're serving-mediocre food at best and shitty service. Needs to improve. Period.

Tim C.

Yelp
Just left Kevin's with a takeout the people there do not listen. Got both my orders wrong had to stop to cook while he was cooking it to fix it. I should have checked my order before I left because they still got it wrong. They gave me grits instead of hash brown's. I ordered eggs over they were NOT!! They didn't make it home in one piece!!! Grrrrrr!! I know they were very busy but thats no excuse for not preparing my food properly. You cook food for a living, Thats what you do! Its the only thing you have to get right!!!!!! I WONT GO THERE AGAIN.

Maria W.

Yelp
The best hidden gem in Bridgeport. Finally found this place during a bike ride after living in Pilsen for almost a year, and now I know I have a new go-to spot. I tried a burger with everything on it, and also steak tacos with everything. I was not disappointed. The tacos were authentic and delicious, and the burger cooked to perfection, yummy and amazing! The only thing I was disappointed in was MYSELF for not finishing all the french fries. Anyway, next time I am trying the pancakes because I was told by the server (can't remember her name but she was HILARIOUS) that they are amazing.

Brian S.

Yelp
What this place lacks in decor or perceived cleanliness, it more than makes up for in having one of the best burgers in Chicago. The burger is real ground beef (not a frozen patty), and is perfectly formed.

Emma G.

Yelp
Terrible service over phone and the burger I received. When I picked up the phone I was simply calling for pickup and ordered the usual burger. The woman on the phone already gave a tone as if she didn't care that I was ordering and sounded annoyed. Keep in mind I didn't have an attitude or voice I just was ordering and even said in a nice tone "Hi I'd like to place a pickup order please." Just this lack of care I received back. And then I asked "Oh would it be ok if i paid over the phone?" Given the rudest "NO" and then I said "oh ok well this is a pickup for the company so someone named-" And then they hung up mid sentence. What is your problem? I'm sorry I inconvenienced you with a question and a statement, sorry I'm not worth your food which by the way was awful as well. I asked for grilled onions and they were all not even on the burger they were thrown in and didn't land even close to the burger itself. The bun looked smashed and some of the burgers barely had onions. Absolutely the worst service I've had.

Chris L.

Yelp
I always seem to go here on Thursdays for the steak special and need to try other things BUT....why? I've never been disappointed so Thursdays it is!

Michelle H.

Yelp
You want greasy spoon, here you go. Artery clogging burgers, greasy fries, and some of the best chili can be gotten right here. Also they have some pretty good breakfast sandwiches. If you are dining in, I warn you that the atmosphere is not conducive to healthy dining. You can actually smell the grease in the air. But for take out, the short order service is very fast.

Rachel T.

Yelp
Yes, Kevins is a %*%^* Dive. Don't go there looking for fancy place settings or clean silverware :) I have never had a Kevins burger, I only go for their breakfast, the steak, potatoes and pancakes are bananas!! Not only do they taste great but they are super cheap. Although it's NOT the CLEANEST place in the best neighborhood, the food, and prices are worth the risks. Its a popular late night spot, with the after nightclub crowd and you may encounter the loud, aggressive types, so if that scares you, go during the midday. Breakfast for 2 is never more than 15 bucks. Kevins I "heart" you.

Nak N.

Yelp
Ummmmm hmmmm.... lets see here waitress no Gloves ... cook no Gloves ... strange men coming from the restroom or their back room with rubber gardening gloves getting ice for a fountain drink (dirty gloves) ... All the alley profane language you can stomach at wee hours of the A.M. ! ... A fold over to go full of grease and a high bill of $14 for a Egg & cheese toast with a side of Bacon? You do the Drop Dead Fred MATH o_O!

Joseph N.

Yelp
Restaurant is located in a very crummy neighborhood- would not walk around alone at night. However the staff was very welcoming and the food was decent for the money. There are many better burger places in Chicago but this place feels very welcoming. Fries were below average. Would recommend .

Concerned P.

Yelp
I went into Kevin's yesterday with my cousin, and I will never ever go back in there again. We walk in and no one acknowledges us as we sit down to order. The two women working the counter are having an argument with a customer about how much her food will be when she orders. I'm not going to lie, I thought there was going to be a fight in the joint. We decided to order something to go, since we don't want to sit in a hostile environment. It took forever. Finally when the waitress came over, she was very rude and pretty ghetto looking. She spoke down to us. When our order was finally ready, I watched as it sat on the counter for six minutes before getting bagged up and given to us. The two heavy set women working behind the counter trying to give out the orders to other customers were continuously bumping into one another. They were not polite in the least. I told my cousin, I don't care how hungry we are or if this is the only place open in twenty miles, WE WILL FOR SURE NOT BE GOING BACK THERE. Smile a little, be more polite, and don't look like you're doing me a favor by getting my order.

Tamika S.

Yelp
I love this place been eating here since i was in HS! Best Tbone and has browns in the city!!! phi!!! Service can b better but i c what they deal w so i understand!!!

Joseph S.

Yelp
This place is boss. Open all the time with food that doesn't take long at all especially if you call in your order ahead. It does get wild around there in the late night, but come on this is Chicago not the suburbs. If you see it in Chicago and it scares you, you haven't been here long. The burgers and T-bones are great and are on special almost everyday starting around 5am til 9am. Place sometimes has security so stop being lame and eat some quick food.

George R.

Yelp
I had never been here during daylight (well, except when the sun was rising at 5-6), but I just found out you can get TWO cheeseburgers for $5 (hamburgers for $4) from 1PM-9PM. That's an extra cheeseburger for $0.10. I'll be eating 2 burgers from now on every time I'm there. If you only want one, order the second anyway--they'll give you a free box to wrap it up, and you can either save it for later, or give it to someone else who wants/needs it.

Michelle S.

Yelp
I had an ok time at this little place, good breakfast food with pancakes. Need to get back soon. Seating is bar style along the register. If you're willing to wait, seats become available. Thoroughly enjoyed the different stories I listened to.

Morgan C.

Yelp
Why do people say this burger is so delicious? It was fatty and on the thin side for my liking. However it was well seasoned. I liked the fact that I could order it on rye bread instead of a bun, but it was nothing special. Although we were clearly out of place, the counter staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They got an extra star for being so patient with patrons who couldn't figure out the side options with their breakfast plates.

Treyc H.

Yelp
The place is a dump. I mean I asked to use the bathroom and when I walked in the toilet was over flowed, water was everywhere. I told the waitress and she says oh I forgot to do that a couple hours ago I'm sorry. I'm like so it's shit water on the floor-I had on sandals- and you haven't cleaned it up for two hours? Wtf! The food is ok I'd rather go to steak and egger! The quality of the food was tragic I ordered a meat lovers omelet and it wasn't seasoned nor did it have any omelet like texture it was like a loaf lol! One waitress was staring at me like I was going to rob the place I'm like wtf is going on in the universe right now. I will never go back to Kevin's hillbilly heaven.

Jimmy W.

Yelp
How can you beat a complete breakfast for $2.00? You can't. Eggs, toast and hashbrowns for just $2. The patrons are a mix of everything and the staff is what you expect when you hear "Truck stop". The food is decent, very cheap but the place itself is a bit dirty.

Anthony S.

Yelp
What a joke this place was. I ordered a simple ham and cheese sandwich. Not only did it take 10 minutes, it also didn't have cheese on it. It was very expensive for the location, and the menu didn't have prices on it.
