Google
The beer was good. The back patio brought in AMAZING views of the river, with a lovely breeze. There was even a guitar hanging on the wall for folks to play, which I thought was cool. The prices are also ridiculously good (don't tell the owners! 😉), and you can order half pints or flights to sample the variety.

Google
Beautiful, spacious outdoor seating with fantastic beer. The red ridge is one of the greatest beers I’ve ever had. The flight was a great deal, 5 generous half pint portions for only $6.50

Google
Very nice brewery in Houghton. The inside is spacious, and the deck is great on a warm summer day. The Widow Maker Ale was our favorite.

Jeremy Cash

Google
My favorite spot in the UP for a night out before dinner. Great brews and their patio views are fantastic. We always make a stop here on any trip to the UP. Staff is always very pleasant as well.

Google
My favorite place in Houghton. Amazing beers and good prices and beautiful view. If you don't have time to sit down and enjoy it. They also have mixed pack cans of popular beers. Highly recommended!!

Matt Larson

Google
Easy and laid back with several current and seasonal brews on tap. Great prices as $4.5 is great for 2025! Easy to pop in, grab a pint and table and then head back out. Able to bring my kids in too.

Google
The beer is pretty good. It’s very warm if you sit inside. The fans on the ceiling are not very effective and the airflow is minimal to none. They either need to update their fans or get air conditioning. Would recommend sitting in the patio if possible

Google
Beer-Theres tons of breweries around Michigan, the thing this one has that the others don’t is a local spruce infused brew that is fresh and punchy. It’s 6% so beware! The other beers are good as well, and you can get a flight to try them all out. Non drinkers can also hang out here, because they have homemade pop and non alcoholic beer. Atmosphere- the view from the back porch is exceptional, on the river near the bridge. Inside is warm and lodge like, with tons of seating, a high ceiling, and a guitar anyone can pick up and play. Service- the employees are casual, and attentive. You can get very comfortable here, and there are regulars sitting at the bar chit chatting with them.

Yelp
Great brew pub. Lively at night and with great deck. We stopped by on an unseasonably cool summer evening so it was hopping. The beer was very good. My favorite was the Red Jacket, a tasty amber ale. Fun servers. Only drawback is they don't serve food. Luckily they allow you to order food into the bar.

Yelp
Some of the best beers I've ever had. The Widow Maker is great. Cool atmosphere, very clean, with a great view and patio. Service was awesome. Everyone was cool. Great spot to grab great beer.

Yelp
I was underwhelmed with this place. The deck was cool. The bartender was okay. The beer wasn't as cold as I like it. It was just cool - and the taste was just okay. I don't need to come back.

Yelp
A 3 story brewery with an amazing outdoor seating view of the Keweenaw Waterway. Great beer with slushies during the summer season. The bartenders were friendly.

Yelp
We came here for a quick drink after dinner at Quincy's. The homemade cream soda? An absolute winner, knocked it out of the park. I regret not taking any home. The beer was delicious, and the place was bustling with people. I enjoy that you can get a half pour for those who may want to try a beer or two without committing to a full pour. I do hate to say that the bar on the side with the balcony smelt heavily of urine, which was unsettling.

Yelp
Good beer, nice people and a cool atmosphere! I enjoy KBC beers in cans where I live, but it was great to get to sample some options that don't get distributed where I live in the Detroit area. Red Ridge, Early Autumn and Spotted Moose were the standouts this trip!

Jim V.

Yelp
In a city of any size this beer is easily $9-10 a pint! Very tasty beer with great service. The deck overlooking the canal is awesome!!

Yelp
A must if you're visiting. Great lake views from patio. Love the interior decor. Excellent beer selection. Would love to see Merch for sale.

Yelp
I'm rating on the beer, friendliness of service is a much lower rating. AWESOME beer, great hang! Such a cool place all the way in the Keweenaw. All the beer is fantastic! It's such a cool spot to hang out, bring your board games, cozy up with a book or talk to other people sitting around you. You can bring in your own food (no kitchen) so you can sit around for a few hours drinking, reading, chatting. Dogs are no longer allowed and on the patio they are mostly not allowing either. Bartenders friendly is a bit missing. It's definitely hit or miss depending on the day/ hour. Sure, you're there just to order up at the bar but when you have questions the responses are pretty sarcastic. Not so welcoming, even when you become a regular.

Yelp
First time in the UP and Houghton is a fun little town. KBC has some of the best beers I have had in Michigan. The vibe and the establishment made for a great place to enjoy beers and enjoy our time on the lake.

Yelp
Really nice brewery in downtown Houghton. We were in northern Wisconsin for Spring Break to do some skiing (not a good year for Spring skiing) and needed something to fill in for a day of rain. We decided to visit the Keweenaw (Copper Harbor, etc.) but this was the "must do" I had on my list. We ended up parking around back, which is covered and free. Climb some stairs and you arrive. They let you bring in food (we ordered from Joey's and I also reviewed them) so we did. Every beer I tried was really good and they are only $3 a beer! Living in Chicagoland we are used to $7-10 for a beer so this was shocking to us that you could get craft beer for less than you pay for Domestic stuff like Miller Lite, etc. Stop in, it's a great spot!

Yelp
My favorite microbrewery. Great tasting brews and very reasonable prices . Not a place to go if your a cocktail person since they only serve beer and seltzer drafts. Old school with no TVs or food. Just great beer and friendly staff. What's not to like?

Mike S.

Yelp
Beer selection is only fair, no heavies or seasonal despite it being mid-October; I was hoping for a better selection. Funky tasting room with a great patio, seems to be a locals favorite hang out. Ladies behind the bar were friendly and helpful.

G.

Yelp
They don't give change for some reason. On many occasions they haven't given change unless you confront them and ask for it I just don't get it
google avatar

Yelp
KBC has staying power! Great to see a place with $3 pints and super selection of great beer. The severs were friendly and the atmosphere was 100% Houghton!

Erin W.

Yelp
Great service and great beer!! This was a great place to stop for an afternoon drink. Can't wait to come back soon!
google avatar

Danielle T.

Yelp
What a awesome brewery and atmosphere!! So happy and upbeat with lots of younger people since it's close to a college, staff was amazing friendly and willing to explain and help with questions! I ordered a flight of 5 samples for $5! Are you kidding me, talk about amazing prices also! My friend ordered there homemade soda which was also delicious! I'm usually a one timer at breweries but if I'm ever in the area I would forsure stop back in! They also can and distribute some of their beers!
google avatar

Yelp
Great beer on tap and fast service. I stop here every trip and now I bring a growler every time. Got a sample, growler fill, and 6 pack to go for $18 before tip. Blueberry wheat was on tap a few days ago. I had to run in and out since the family was waiting to head to The Den. Service was immediate. Note they don't have food, but you can always bring food in. Look for the staples such as Widowmaker, blonde ale, and Red Jacket.

Yelp
First time here and it was pretty cool. They have a pretty good space with lots of room to stand or sit. The outdoor patio area has a really nice view of the Portage canal/river and there is a lot of seating out there. I thought the beer was pretty average compared to some of the craft brews I've had down state but all of their beers are $3 pints!!! How can you beat that? Honestly incredible lol. I tried their cherry wheat ale which was decently tasty and on the next one I asked the bartender for their lightest option and she recommended the pick axe ale and she was definitely right. It was a very light beer lol. They don't serve food here, just about 8-10 beers on tap but you are able to order pizza from the place next door and they actually can deliver it into KBC for you.
google avatar

Christina W.

Yelp
Need a break after driving around the Keweenaw Peninsula? This is the place for you. Try before you buy. Bring your own food. Plenty of take out and delivery close by. There's a three-ring binder of all the restaurant options available at the bar. Covid: wear a mask unless seated; a rainbow sign on the table means your table had been sanitized and is ready for you; hand sanitizer mounted on the wall nearby the stairs. Walk down steep stairs for the restrooms downstairs. I enjoyed my first rye IPA. Hubby had the nitro stout and teen son sipped their homemade (non-alcoholic) black cherry soda.

Yelp
I have so many reviews in draft mode that I don't want to forget all about these wonderful places we visited on our trip thru the UP. KBC was one of our favorites! Not only is the brewery huge, but it has so much character. We loved all the options for seating and the nice outdoor patio overlooking the river. Being in the heart of college town, it was quite busy and the crowd varied in age. At this point in our brewery tour, we were in the mood to try different things, not our normal go to choices. We opted for their flagship Widow Maker stout and the Red Ridge tangerine infused blood orange seltzer. OMG!!!!!! We fell in love with the seltzer. It was very flavorful and refreshing. The stout was also quite delicious. KBC stood out as one of favorite breweries in the UP. We will most certainly be back.

Yelp
A pint of beer for $3.50, a flight of five for $5.50? Bee brewery and vibes in my opinion!
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
Stopped through on my way and had a couple. Good beers, good environment. Bartender suggested a good beer and then I had a blood orange one, both solid products. No tvs or food but you can bring your own in and eat. Workers were all very nice. food and tvs would make this place so much better but good beer!

Dennis T.

Yelp
Cool spot for a beer, downtown Houghton, even though it was busy, it wasn't so loud that you couldn't hold a conversation, good beer, homemade sodas
google avatar

Ashley P.

Yelp
The beers here were so good! I initially got a half pint of the blood orange seltzer. I normally drink half as fast as my husband, so I loved that they had a half pint option. Man, it was so good, I was done way quicker than normal and was ready to try something else before he finished his pint! Next up was the cherry wheat - again, so good! I should have gotten a full pint! If we weren't traveling, we would have gotten some to go. We did buy a shirt though. The service was fast when ordering at the bar. Everyone in line was respectful of 6 feet spacing. The staff all wore masks and they were very friendly. Masks were required of the customers as well when not drinking at your seat. The beers were cheap too. There was plenty of outdoor seating right on the lake, which was nice. It was a perfect day out. Everything was clean and we wished we had more time here!
google avatar

Alina W.

Yelp
Much better beer up north- and the place is engineered to perfection. People will pick you up out of the snowbank- you will survive
google avatar

Zaida H.

Yelp
Really nice ambiance, we had several of their beers and got food from one of the restaurants near by. I highly recommend this place as is super clean, empty glasses are collected promptly, bathrooms are cleaned, staff friendly. If it wasn't because is hours away from my house this place would be my to go.
google avatar

Dave P.

Yelp
Coming of age in a time when your options were Miller, Budweiser, and a couple other local brews that didn't measure up, the proliferation of micro-breweries is amazing to me. And this place is high up in that list of amazing. They have an excellent selection of very tasty beers, served at an incredibly reasonable price (Who else in the *country* charges $3/pint?) The staff are friendly and it's a really neat atmosphere. When in the area and looking to support a local business, think of this establishment. Have a beer. Buy a shirt. Have another beer. Buy another shirt. You get the picture. They're worth the support and worth the time you spend there.

Yelp
Great place to enjoy a pint. This place has everything from comfortable couches, a patio, tables and bar. I sat at the bar during my first visit and I am glad I did. The bar staff took their time to explain their different beers. I really enjoyed sitting here and trying the different options of beer. The best part is all pints are $3.00. Great local bar and I really enjoyed sitting with the locals and visiting. While I was enjoying my beer I saw several different deliveries of food to people at the bar and tables. Local restaurants deliver food right to your table. I tried several different beers and really enjoyed their Widow Maker which is an American Black Ale. I recommend. I enjoyed KBC so much I came here three times while here for the week. Trust.

Alan M.

Yelp
Solid beers at bargain prices, great service and the biggest bag of peanuts for $2! A great vibe...families, college students & tourists on a busy Friday...
google avatar

Nancy L.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere, friendliness, and of course the choice of beers. The guys love the widow maker. I enjoyed the pale ale.

Michael R.

Yelp
Nice stop if you've been outdoors and venturing out into the vast countryside galavanting for muskrats. Prices are incredible, view is nice. Needs a little life, some music, bellydancing, firebreathers would be cool. Something. Nice view off the back patio at the mighty Houghton River home to huge octopuses.
google avatar

Jim C.

Yelp
The staff, atmosphere and whole experience was awesome! The beer was unbelievable! Highly recommend from a downstater! We will definitely make this a stop again!
google avatar

Trisha L.

Yelp
Great brews!! I had the lake effect and it was great. I loved the decor and location. I wish I could try more but had to go for dinner. I did get the pick axe 6 pk to go and enjoying one now. Delish! Great place
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Great spot downtown. I tried most of their beers and really enjoyed all of them. Seems like they draw a good crowed (mid summer) and their deck out back is a great place to hang out. They close WAY too early (10pm), which is unfortunate. Beers were wicked cheap at about $3.....they could charge twice that in most towns and get away with it. They also DO NOT serve food, so just be aware of this. I have heard the pizza place next door will deliver to your table though!
google avatar

Ann F.

Yelp
There is no food but you can bring in something if you want. The beer is amazing. $3 for a pint $10 for a growler. The beer was amazing and many choices. I would go there again if I am traveling thru again.
google avatar

Jerry Z.

Yelp
Cute bar and reasonably priced beers. Went on a Friday afternoon and it was cozy: nice bartenders and very polite. One of the gals brought me my credit card that I'd accidentally left at the bar and went out of her way to do so. I'm big on customer service so this is a winner.

Jenna B.

Yelp
Came to houghton and couldn't resist not checking this place out. Worth the visit. Clean, quiet for the most part and great staff! We had a flight of beer and each beer we had was really good.
google avatar

Brooke M.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I really wanted to give this brewery 5 stars but their bartenders were so rude that I had to give 4. The beer itself was great. Their prices were less than any brewery I have seen before in Michigan. The growler fill was only $8.50 and flights were around $5 I believe. They have no food but you can carry in pizza from next door. They have a patio but the day I was there it was packed out there so we sat inside. My favorite beer there was the Anniversary IPA but I enjoyed many of them. After I had my growler filled, the bartender dropped my growler on the floor while full of beer (luckily it was sealed in a stainless steel growler and did not leak). They had a large selection of apparel, growlers, and metal signs. Definitely worth a visit while in the U.P.!
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
2 dollar and 50 cent pints!!!!! Now we're taking. 2 dollar and 50 cent pints and a huge deck overlooking the Portage Lift Bridge and the canal, call this a little slice of heaven. I always stop at the Keweenaw at least 2 or 3 times while in town and I'm always happy and there's always in IPA in my hand. I get a little excited down here when I see their cans at a store and feel like I know a little secret, like I'm the one who brews the stuff. I think just about everyone standing near me when I see it hears me say "this stuff is brewed in the town my family is from." Most people give me a little "that's nice" smile and now that I'm typing this I'm making a note to self to stop saying this to strangers. It's just that it's a little exciting to have a slice of the place I love down here in the hustle and bustle of the city.

Yelp
This is a cultural hub in downtown Houghton. The people watching is fantastic and the beer that accompanies it, is even better. It's a great places to relax and bring friends. They have some really great art on the walls.
google avatar

Tom F.

Yelp
Best in the area, as it is the only game in town. The staff was friendly, we liked our pints which are a deal at $3, and they had a sunny outdoor patio. What is not to like!
google avatar

Rose R.

Yelp
We stopped in as our happy hour before dinner the tap house is spacious and has large windows looking over the river high ceilings and nice overall ambience we were with a large group and felt like we had room to relax I like how you can buy a half pint for 2 bucks great idea because sometimes you might not pick a good one to drink good selection of brew! Def stop in while in Town
google avatar

Kristina G.

Yelp
Really great beers and reasonable prices. They have a great outdoor seating area for the summer and a cozy indoor fireplace for the more likely winter. Got a taster flight for under $5. They also have a great cream soda on tap for those who don't want the flavorful beer. As others have mentioned there's a $10 min on cards. But you can get a lot for your money at this small town brewery.
google avatar

Noah G.

Yelp
Great selection of beer at amazing prices. This is a must visit. Had the Pothole Porter which was very solid. Finished with the Tar Black (cannot remember the name exactly), which was ok. But for $3 a pint, you can try different beers till your heart is content.

Rebecca A.

Yelp
Visited from kalamazoo. Great beer and friendly service. We ordered truffle fries from the Library down the street and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Loved this place! Great tasting beer. Very comfy and at home feeling inside. Outside seating was also nice. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
KBC is a must stop when in Houghton! My favs are The Red Jacket, Widow Maker and Pic Axe Blonde. The price is a great bar
