Overall, we had a great experience at the Key Bridge Marriott. We were given a room on the Concierge Floor with a view overlooking the city. You could see the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial off in the distance, and the Key Bridge just below. It was beautiful.
The room itself was nice - basic and clean, what we've come to expect from a Marriott. We had breakfast in the executive lounge which was a basic breakfast buffet, including scrambled eggs, sausage and fresh fruit. Evening fare in the lounge was disappointing - just some cookies and cheesecake sitting out. I wish they had more of a selection for their evening hours.
Instead, we chose to eat at the hotel's lounge, Conexion. We shared a quesadilla and then I heard the burger. Both were excellent, and it had a fun nighttime vibe as we watched the Patriots game with other Boston fans.
The hotel itself was located just a few blocks from the Rosslyn metro station and some great restaurants in Rosslyn, and an easy walk across the Key Bridge from Georgetown. It was an awesome location to explore the city from!
The only negative part of our experience was our time at the pool. The lifeguard was MISERABLE. When we arrived the first night, there were no towels. When we inquired, we were told that he could not get towels because he couldn't leave the pool unattended. When we asked if we could use his phone to call the lobby for some towels, he said no, that's his job. Well then DO YOUR JOB!
After 10 minutes in the hot tub, he told us he would need to close the hot tub in 15 minutes to put chemicals in. Ok, whatever. Well before we knew it, he walked over with two security guards, who he had called stating that we refused to get out of the pool! Umm not so much... we explained the situation and the security guards laughed. Meanwhile my friend and I, both Marriott Elite members, were horrified.
The next night in the hot tub, we watched as the lifeguard walked outside and spent 15 minutes on his phone, while two young children were swimming inside. So much for not being able to leave the pool unattended! That lifeguard truly needs to go.
