This low key cafe/restaurant is out of the way, unexpected, with what appears to be local fresh dishes. You order at the counter, seat yourself, and pick up your food when your buzzer/beeper goes off. We tried the conch fritters, burger, blackened mahi, Caesar salad, and several smoothies: key lime, strawberry, and mango. I'd say the food was decent: fresh and hot. The fries were crispy and delicious. Fritters were a strange texture, not what I was expecting. The Caesar salad was just so-so. Croutons were chewy, but that could have been the humidity. There is only outside seating. They have fans going but they were not effective in this space at all. We ate fast so we could get out of there, since it is Florida in July. We enjoyed the view of the marina and we heard about the nurse sharks that hang out by the dock but didn't see them this visit. There is a full bar outside. There is also a small market inside where they appear to have the freshest ocean fare around! The only thing we didn't quite understand is the tipping policy. They ask for it ahead of time when you are ordering and paying. Hmmm...? Tip for what, exactly? We sat ourselves, got our own food, and even cleared away the take-out containers the food came in. Lots of waste, by the way, which is a turn off. To wrap up: the food was authentic, well prepared, and the counter service was fine. It was a good place to visit for our first time in Key Largo, but for the price, $$$, we want to try other area restaurants.
