Keys Fisheries

This is 1000% my favorite place to eat in the Keys. This is the one place I recommend to new travelers. You can’t beat the fresh seafood and outdoor seating, combined with the fun upstairs bar with great deals. I love that meals are ordered under a fun question and answer for the order versus just your name. The seafood is always fresh and prepared well. Portions are very comparable to the price. I will eat here several times during my stay. Our go-to order is stone crab, hot peel n’ eats, a side of fries, and calamari. The fish sandwich is also amazing. Their whole menu is done well, you can’t go wrong with any order.

This spot has great potential. The view is lovely, and the seating area by the water is super relaxing. We ordered the fried octopus and the lobster Reuben, since we heard that’s what King’s Fisheries is famous for. The sandwich could have been amazing if the sauerkraut hadn’t ruined it for us. To be fair, as Germans, we think our sauerkraut (and bread—but that’s another story) tastes the best, so others might actually enjoy it. Unfortunately, we just didn’t like the flavor, even though the lobster itself was very tender and juicy. The octopus, on the other hand, was quite tasty. So overall, it didn’t go as well as we had hoped, even though we really wanted to love this place.

Oh divine lunch! We had lionfish tacos and a hogfish sammy at Keys Fisheries. We skated in right as they cut off the line before they closed for Christmas. These are fish best served fresh, and ours were fresh!!!

What an experience. Keys Fisheries is everything you hope for in a true Florida Keys experience. The food is grilled to perfection — the Mix Grill (lobster, scallops, shrimp, and mahi mahi) bursts with flavor in every bite. The views are absolutely breathtaking, especially from the second-floor bar, which offers the best vantage point for sunset. Every evening, they raise a glass and make a sunset toast — a charming ritual that captures the laid-back spirit of this place. A must-visit for fresh seafood, stunning scenery, and that unmistakable island vibe.

I had the ruben... was leary of it, but they are famous for it... when in rome lol it was good, but a 1 and done for me, fries were quite tasty and crisp. My Gf had a decent drink and we loved the location.

The bartenders are great and attentive. This is some of the best seafood you can find on marathon. And they have great pricing. Honest and fair. Definitely stop by to see the tarpon and nurse sharks as it’s always entertaining.

I've come here since 2009, and this is one of my favorites seafood restaurants in Marathon. I was disappointed with the foods. Went here for stone crab but it wasn't in season. So sad. Cashier seem like brand new, slow and weak. The conch chowder was fishy. I didn't like it. Boneless chicken wing also not good. Skinny fried calamari. The oyster crackers were chewy and smelly. This place was at the top of my list but I'm not going back. Price and quality left me disappointed.

This is our fourth trip to the Keys and hands down the best seafood meal I've eaten. The atmosphere is so fun. We were there after dark so you could see the huge tarpon and nurse sharks in the marina. We had the paella and it was 10/10!!! My 13 year old said it was one of the best things he'd ever eaten. We also had the crab and artichoke dip and key lime pie. All were excellent.

A staff member of the Keys Fisheries could punch me right in the face and I would continue to patronize this establishment because the food here is that freaking good. We are not locals but stay in Marathon once a year and we make darn sure to visit the Keys Fisheries at least once. Our last visit was on 12/27/2025. There were six of us which meant there were six very happy and satisfied people at the end of our experience. Yes, it's true, this is a no-frills restaurant. You walk up to a window and order your food. The menu is on the wall and you can look at it while you wait in line. There will be a line - so what - it moves fast. You give the girl a fake name and then wait for it to be called so you can go back to the window and get your tray of food. Then you find a seat somewhere nearby at a picnic table. Who cares? None of this will matter once you start eating the food. Oh yeah, you can get alcohol here too. Sign me up! I don't remember what I have year after year BUT I will never forget what I had this year - and neither will anyone else! There's a special on the board this time: hogfish francaise or francese however you'd like to spell it. I notice the catch of the day is hogfish. This sounds like a winner. I order it. I get it. I eat it. I am forever changed. I would sell my soul to have this again. Yes - it was that good. I feel bad for my friends and family at this point. I'm not even done half my meal and they already know about this damn hogfish. I've told everyone. I simply can't shut up about how divine this meal was. Could you please stop talking about it? No, I cannot. Hey - I'm coming back in December. Hope you're ready!

Perfect casual spot to grab a great fish sandwich. A little pricey but you can taste how fresh it is. I love that you can sit out by the docks and watch the boats come and go. Service is pretty quick even with a line.

Love no pretense places like these. Just plain simple good seafood. The Keys Mixed Grill was great - scallops, shrimp, 1/2 lobster and mahi mahi.

This restaurant is fun because they throw fish scraps to the awaiting tarpon and nurse sharks. It's quite a show. There was also a manatee cow and her calf swimming by when we came. The food wasn't very impressive, we had conch fingers which were very greasy and my mahi tacos were pretty bland. We also had a slice of key lime pie which was good. There is no service here because you order from a window. There's nothing particularly wrong with this restaurant but other than the shark show I really would have no reason to come back.

Nice casual eatery here in Marathon. Right on the water in a marina. You order at the window and in literally no time your order is up. My lovely wife had their Lobster Mac&Cheese and I had the Lobster Bisque with a Lobster Roll. Everything was delicious and large portions. We will be back. Oh yeah don't forget to check out their fish market. Plenty on deals there.

Outstanding food. Second to none! Great ambiance. Great crowd. Raw tuna, peel and eat shrimp smoke fish, oysters on the 1/2 shell, crab dip. Outstanding all! Beer cold and mixed drinks perfect!

Boy was this place fun. We enjoyed the sunset toast a lot. The posts covered with stickers give a festive ambiance. The drinks and food at happy hour were so cheap compared to heat we've been paying. The sashimi was a bit questionable (it had a bit of a fishy quality nobody else cared for but I ate it and was fine), but the crab claws were delicious. Bartender gave me a free soda water for being the DD, thanks, ma'am!! Really enjoyed the festive atmosphere.

We stumbled upon Keys Fisheries based on a simple Yelp search while on Marathon. We were surprised by the counter service style and picnic tables because food doesn't match. The foot is incredible fresh and elevated. We ordered several things but the stand out to me what the spicy tuna bowl and the ahi tuna nachos. The portion of tuna is unreal. We actually had left over. The flavors were amazing. We watched fish boats come in and got to watch the sunset. It was a great experience. The only bummer was they only use fresh catch and they were out of Lobster. I wanted to try their famous Lobster Rueben. Maybe next time!!

Went here based on Marathon happenings members recommendations. The line was long and not worth the wait. Was hoping we could have dinner and enjoy the view from the upstairs bar but we had our 2 teenage boys. Only 21 and up can go upstairs. We ordered The conch salad had the smallest bits of conch and all greens. Bland The fried seafood platter was disappointing too. skinny fried calamari, fish sticks and shrimp. The conch fritter was over cooked., almost burnt. It might have been a bad day in the kitchen as I was expecting better based on rave reviews. The only positive was the view.

Amazing fresh seafood and great prices! No frills kinda place but great vibe! Loved watching the pelicans eating the chum being thrown to them from the fishermen while I enjoyed some excellent stone crab claws! Beers were a great price too. Would definitely come back!

A great view of a sunset, we came here on a Friday night. We ordered food downstairs at the window and brought it to the upper deck. We ordered 1 Broiled Lobsters with vegetables and rice. At the bar, they had half bottles and we got a half bottle for $14 of the Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. It was neat because at sunset, they hand out "Sunset Shots". Sweet and delicious, it was a cool experience. The Lobster was a tad overcooked but the broccoli was good. Paired with some rice and a little butter, it was decent. Wouldn't say that the service was super friendly but it's a cool experience and a great sunset view.

Good grief! If they have their jalapeno fried tripletail sandwich, GET IT!!! We also had their mahi tacos. Those were good as well but that tripletail....just sign me up for auto-order. Oh and the fries are really good as well. We ordered fish dip and chips to go. Tasty! Fun place to go on the water with a couple spots to order drinks and eat your meal. The tarpons swim along the sea wall along with some nurse sharks resting below. We walked out on the dock. Great ambiance for the Keys. This will be a favorite on our foodie itinerary when we visit again.

The Reuben was good. Different. I would probably just have a Lobster Roll, since the Lobster flavor was covered up with the remaining Reuben ingredients. My wife had the Lobster Roll and loved it. Seating was open air and by the waterfront. Outstanding view.

After visiting the sea turtle hospital nearby, my husband and I looked for a place to eat. We found this place and it was such a lovely surprise! We ordered lobster tails and they are simply delicious! We sat by the water and enjoyed the view while we dined. It was a lovely experience.

Came back to visit a year after my initial visit and my review remains the same. Way more about atmosphere and less about the food. You stand in line to order then wait about 30-45 minutes for your food to arrive (on a slow night-- we actually went on a Monday evening). We fed the tarpon and had some drinks while we waited but the kids started to get hungry and upset. Food was nothing to write home about. The chicken on the sandwich was so thin- the onion pieces are actually bigger than the chicken (see pic). Do not order the chicken sandwich if you are hungry. Key lime pie was as expected. The crab Mac and cheese was the best part. Lots of crab and cheesy Mac. The restroom is located in the parking lot and bit sketchy with only one stall. Parking can get full on a busy night. Parking lot is gravel. The bar is at the back of the restaurant with lots of drink options and quick service. They have seating for 21+ at an upstairs area that generally has live music.

Seriously upset. Waited until 5pm to come for hot stone crab and they said they sold out at 3pm. Menu says they start at 5pm. I will never waste my time here again!

Came because of sign saying they had best lobster Reuben but it's not lobster season.. lol oh well they had pretty big menu so hubby tried few things.. grouper Reuben was very good as was the plantains! We had few meals here as the food was good and price was reasonable. The staff was very nice and helpful. The place itself is not fancy it's very laid back.. tables are picnic tables all around the dock on the waterfront.. you can see and feed tarpon but not people food they have feeders you can get food from for 25 cent. There's other fish too that eat the feed so cool experience.. they do sell out of stuff at times so best to get there early..

This was a MUST-STOP on my list of places to eat. Thank goodness we did because it was so good!! Ordered the must-try lobster Reuben and it did not disappoint! FULL of HUGE lobster pieces, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, dressing, on toasted rye bread. DELICIOUS! Also had the calamari and fries and also just as delicious! Great fast friendly service. You place your order and seat yourself at the picnic benches. Also got to see the hungry tarpon and nurse sharks in the harbor. Highly recommend to check this place out!!

This place was at the top of my list while visiting Marathon, but it missed the mark. I had one more food stop planned, but after this experience, I'm done until next time. The conch po' boy was extremely overcooked, hard, dry, and unpleasant to eat. The bread was just as tough. The remoulade looked great but did not help. The smashed potatoes tasted like a mix of instant and real, and the texture was off. Two stars only because the seating and view was nice and the staff were very pleasant. The food was a major letdown.

Go early to get a lobster roll lol. I got grilled Mahi tacos and lobster chowder. My Wife got shrimp ceviche, it was a small serving but she brought it home for a snack later. She also got the mago shrimp bowl. It was like a sweet and spicy mix but delicious. It was a good saving that she was only able to eat half or it. We got there about 730pm and ther was plenty of seating. Dog friendly as well. A must stop in Marathon.

We wanted some good seafood and wanted to be out by the water. Saw this place and it fit the bill. Lots of choices - including the "world famous lobster Reuben" ... which looked interesting but we didn't order it. Instead we all got the fish tacos. They were really good. We had some grilled and some blackened. The ambiance is what you'd expect in marathon. Laid back and relaxing. You order at the counter and they call you when it's ready. Very easy.

This is now one of my favorite places in Marathon, and I'm not easy to please. Yes, you can blow a tremendous amount of money on silly things like a lobster reuben. If that's how you roll, more power to you. However, I think a place really shines with how well it does the simple things: Cold peel and eat shrimp Conch fritters Stone crab claws with mustard sauce Key lime pie The stone crab claws will set you back a pretty penny. But the insider tip is to order them at the upstairs bar where they are cheaper for some mysterious reason. The ambiance is rustic, outdoor, picnic table, marina dining. There's a downstairs bar as well, if you are visiting with minors who aren't allowed upstairs and you want a cold local beer or some kind of fruity cocktail. You want frills? Go someplace else. You want delicious fresh seafood and a delightful (if not the absolute best, a close second) slice of key lime pie, go to Keys Fisheries. Next time I'm in town, it might be hard to get me to eat anyplace else. One last thing. There are dispensers of fish food scattered around the dining area where you can get a small handful of pellets for a quarter. On one visit, the feeding frenzy attracted a couple of curious nurse sharks! So you can get some pretty nifty critter sightings too.

The service started off on weak footing when as I was talking to my wife, and the server shouts to me "I can't hear you". She apparently thought I was talking to her when I was having a conversation with my wife. I played it off. We ordered a bunch of food and was really disappointed to see the conk ceviche come in a pre wrapped sealed plastic container like you'd get from Costco. This is supposed to be the fish market that delivers to all the other local "fish markets". We accidentally dropped it on the floor and the staff was very nice about it and replaced it. The conch fritters were mostly air and breading. I didn't taste much conch. The seafood mixed grill was ok. 7/10. The entire bill with no cocktails was $90. I left there feeling like a sucker. But good news. They charge you $17 a pound to cook any fish that you catch. Robbery.

Every bit of food is solid. Potato salad, coleslaw were awesome....with stone crab. Key lime pie was ridiculously good. We will be back

The greatest key lime pie. My sis and I enjoyed it so much, we bought another slice! We also had some french fries, and they were great as well! Loved the sunset view here over the water. Gorgeous unobstructed view for it! plenty of parking. Pro tip: bring and wear insect repellent if you plan to watch sunset by the water. The mosquitoes are savage in the keys!!

Unfortunately this was the worst first meal I could imagine having in the Florida Keys. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because the conch fritters were decent and the sauce was really good. Entrees: atrocious! I got the crab roll (which I asked about before ordering, and was told it was crab salad on a sandwich like a lobster roll, which they are currently not serving.) As soon as the tray hit the table I was like... wait. Is this imitation Krab? At a fishery? In the keys? One, that should be illegal. (Don't recommend watching the "how it's made" episode on imitation krab lol, I don't even like it in sushi- where it's expected.) Two, if they would have just written "Krab roll" on the menu I would have known and not ordered it, which makes me feel like they're being sneaky about it on purpose. When I went back to the window to exchange it for something else I was first told it was in fact crab until I pressed the issue. I asked if the crab cake sandwich was actually crab and was told they had to check! I just think that's crazy. Crab cake sandwich was fine/mid. Can get equivalent or better at my regular restaurants at home. Next, my fiance got the hog fish sandwich and it was all I could smell as soon as the tray hit the table- so beyond fishy it was gagging me. He is a big fish person and orders fish everywhere, and said he would be shocked if it wasn't previously frozen. He said he could have just gotten a mcFish at the drive through for that experience lol. Anyways, as we looked around the dock where we were seated and saw people feeding sharks, and the attached seafood market we had to share a good laugh at the alternate universe experience we were having! I'm sure their fried shrimp or whatever is fine (hard to mess that up!) but based on what we got I would not recommend stopping here especially if you're visiting and want to taste a good example of fresh seafood. Sorry :/

Hands down the best seafood in Miami area! The scallops were done in perfection and the fish were very tasty. The prices were very reasonable. The seating was by the water. We got to see many fishes in the water while waiting for our food. We saw three nursery sharks and many large Tarpins. Birds were gliding on the water. Good food and good views!

Keys Fisheries checked all the boxes for us! Casual, relaxed atmosphere with delicious fresh food, and a price point that's easy to digest! We would return to this establishment again and again. Tip: the lobster is fresh, so when it's out, the famous lobsters dishes are unavailable for order. Suggest going when they open for lunch if having fresh FL lobster will make or break your experience.

We ordered drinks, fish dip, and the tuna nachos upstairs at the bar and they were all fabulous. We then ordered downstairs and ate upstairs. The hogfish sandwich is the best sandwich we've had this trip. The tuna nachos were recommended by the bartender and they had fresh tuna, fried wonton chips, and a fresh seaweed salad on top. Nice view upstairs. Key lime pie purchased from the downstairs bar was terrible.

Awesome seafood place off the beaten path. You know it's good when you arrive there is a little bit of a line, and while in line it grows behind you. We ordered the famous Reuben lobster sandwich $26.95, conch fritters $12.95, spicy tuna roll, and a drink. The rubber lobster was great. The conch fritters are worth a try, crunchy on outside and a moist on the inside. The tuna roll was about the freshest tune we have had in awhile. Definitely worth a stop in. They also have chicken fingers if you have someone who does like or is allergic to fish. Had to do a lap to find parking. Lady at counter was nice and helped us with our order. My wife really wanted a tuna poke bowl, but apparently they were out. You get free drink refills, you will need them if it is hot. We sat around back at a picnic table on thr dock and watched tarpon, nurse sharks, and other fish swim by. Great old Florida place and style.

After hearing great things about the local stone crab in Florida, I was so excited to finally try them freshly caught! For $39.95, we received 7 pieces of select claws, all cracked, chilled, and ready to be eaten with mustard sauce. Unfortunately, we found the stone crab meat to be tough and flavorless. Not sure if this was a bad batch or if stone crab meat is just too hyped up.  Note that there is no table service - just order at the window, pick up your tray of food, and find your own seating. My favorite things here were the Smashed Potatoes, laidback vibes, and views of the harbor :)

The service the first time we went was great! It was a weekday afternoon & not much happening. The food was fresh and hot. We enjoyed chatting with the bartender. 2nd trip in Sunday afternoon, not so great. It was busy, the staff wasn't as friendly, and the food not as fresh.

The vibes were impeccable, especially with the live tunes. The stone crab claws were huge and fell off the shell. Highly recommend and will definitely come back.

Some of the best food in the keys, I have ate here several times, nice atmosphere, and they have a seafood market so you can get some of there items there to take home, the key line pie is excellent, and the fish dip is now one of my favorites, I will definitely return to dry more things on the menu!

Our first time in the Keys and this place was highly reviewed so we tried it out. Unassuming dockside location, plenty of easy parking and delicious fresh mixed seafood platter. Not fond of the lobster bisque, but loved the lobster tail, shrimp and mahi. Will go back next time we visit!

This was a great experience. It was on the docks so we saw pelicans, manatees and fish. You stand in line to order then go to a table to eat your food. We had stone crab, spiny lobster, fresh tuna, yellowtail, and shrimp mango bowl - all were fresh and excellent. The staff were friendly and incredibly efficient. Got to see the sun set from here too. Great experience.

Staying on Duck Key and decided to take the ride based on the popular reviews, they were not wrong!!! Family of 7, everyone loved their food, including the baby! Very mom & pop type of joint, order at a window and serve yourself sauces and drinks... there is a bartender for alcohol! The food was straight forward and delicious!! Grouper Rueben was a fam fav! Can't wait to come back on our next visit! Ignore the terrible photos, everyone was ready to jump in!

We have been putting people on to this place for the last 24 years. Every time we come to keys, we make it a point to stop here. The fried grouper sandwich and lobster ruben are my favorites. The grouper is huge and fried in a light panko. The lobster ruben always hits. We have seen it change over the years. Different bread. More or less meat. This time around it was fire. So much meat! Ty lol. All of the soups are delicious. We usually dip the lobster ruben in the soup. I hope you add this place to your stop!

Had to edit my review from 5 to a 4. Lobster Reuben just didn't hit the same as it did a few years ago. It was kinda bland, they hardly put any dressimg on it. Also the lobster seemed to be Maine lobster vice spiny lobster.

Great spot alongside the Keys for seafood, I like the open seating with views to the water and dock, their lobster Reuben is a classic but I usually go for the catch of the day, if you're here don't forget to try their key lime pie.

Came around five years ago and I couldn't wait to come back (all the way from France!). Food? Perfect, full stop. Drinks? All you need including some stuff I didn't even know existed. Staff? Friendly, efficient. Place? Low key but authentic atmosphere, surrounded by sharks, fish and even manatees at times. Please drive by, so I don't have to queue for too long. Amazing place, I love it so much.

Service was very pleasant, and the food delivered in a big way on Seafood . Triple Tail Taco...3 Ts...Blackened Mahi Wrap.....and the world famous Key Lime Pie Loved seeing the fish in the water while enjoying our meal...great place for kids and families.

Keys fisheries is an awesome place to pick up seafood that is fresh af for you to enjoy at home in the Keys. My aunt has a house not too far from here, and every time we go down to stay we always stop by to pick up fish for the weekend. Our go to is Mahi mahi because we love to make ceviche. They also have little neck clams and shrimp that are great. I love buying from here because it's fresh. Our mahi had been filleted just moments before we purchased it and you can taste the difference when you cook it. They offer a variety of fresh fish and seasonings for them and it's very affordable. Two pounds of mahi with a aioli sauce and spice rub we picked up came out to $40. If you don't feel like cooking your seafood, you can enjoy a meal at their restaurant. With options like sandwiches, fresh catch and a famous lobster Reuben you truly cannot go wrong here. Service is friendly and there's parking in the front.

Conch salad & lobster roll were amazing! The kids got chicken and fries. This place is by the water. You order at the window and find your seats. Great view to watch the fisherman's. There's indoor and outdoor seating. They have their own parking lot. We tired a lot of seafood places and this has to be my favorite. Everything was fresh & tasty!

Love this spot, great vibes for watching the sunset and enjoying some great food. The service was fast and there was live music.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed late afternoon dining here . Just missed Stone Claw crab season . But I was looking forward to their shrimp Mac and Cheese , I have had lobster Mac and Cheese in Maine, Brats Mac and Cheese in Northern Wisconsin, brisket Mac and Cheese at more then a few bbq joints. But I really like this shrimp Mac and Cheese .
