Khao (Ekkamai)

"Serving meticulously crafted Thai cuisine in a beautiful dining room inspired by traditional rice barns, Khao, whose name means 'rice' in Thai, is all about the details. Everything is prepared from fresh, premium ingredients, including the excellent crab roe chilli paste served with mackerel, eggs, and veggies. For dessert, the tapioca pearls stuffed with strawberries (think Daifuku) is a must-try. For a real culinary journey, book the Chef’s Table menu." - Michelin Inspector

We went there to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. It is a Michelin star rated restaurant and from the moment you get inside, you can feel the warmth welcome and greetings of the place. We ordered salad, shrimps and cooked squid. The food was great but we weren't used to some of the tastes especially the salad. After we finished, they offered us some sweets to celebrate our anniversary. The waiters and staff were all nice and smiling all the time. Prices are expensive, but considering this is a Michelin rated restaurant, it is well priced. Ideal for a group gathering or special occasion.

Without a doubt, this is one of the most affordable Michelin starred experiences in the city and it doesn’t compromise on quality. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm and attentive. The staff checked in regularly. We sampled several dishes, and each one was perfectly balanced flavors and beautifully presented. The plating was like artwork. The tower presentation was especially eye-catching and made for some great photo moments.

The restaurant, awarded with a Michelin star for several consecutive years, exudes an ambiance reminiscent of a modern fine dining Thai restaurant. The food is delightful, the chilli with vegetables presented attractively and bursting with flavor. However, must mention that the chilli itself lacks the desired spiciness. The stir-fried eggplants are tasty but not spicy. On the other hand, the crab curry is the standout dish, bursting with spiciness and deliciousness. It elevates the overall dining experience. While the prices are quite high compared to the standard Thai food in Thailand, the service is friendly and attentive. Although being a Michelin-starred restaurant doesn’t necessarily translate to a superior dining experience compared to other Thai restaurants in Bangkok, this place is definitely worth trying.

Tucked away in a little alley in the Ekkamai district, this place has a super friendly vibe and a spacious dining area. They even have a private box for up to 10 people, perfect for small get-togethers. The menu changes with the seasons, so you know you’ll get the freshest ingredients. If you’re not sure what to order, they’ve got a set menu for tourists that gives you a taste of classic Thai dishes. And if you can handle the heat, definitely ask them to crank up the spice level! Overall, it's a really pleasant dining experience that you’ll enjoy.

Atmosphere: Elegant and modern Thai décor with a calm, refined vibe. Great for intimate dinners or special occasions. Food Taste: Authentic Thai flavors with a refined twist. Dishes are beautifully presented and well-balanced in taste. Price: Mid to high range – a bit on the pricier side, but worth it for the quality, presentation, and overall experience.

We had a bunch of fun dining here as their staffs were all very welcoming and friendly. All the foods we ordered were top notch and good quality. The environment was the best of all as we were offered a room full of glass and excellent lighting. Overall a very pleasant dining experience.

We heard about this Michelin one-star restaurant that specializes in refreshing Thai fusion cuisine at very reasonable prices, so I decided to try it out with my mum. We made a lunch reservation, and there were only three other tables occupied. The restaurant has a very simple and modern interior. The ceiling is high, and the large floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of natural light, creating a bright and pleasant atmosphere. We ordered a traditional Thai three-tier platter, green curry pork, and deep-fried shrimp rolls. The biggest surprise was the traditional three-tier Thai platter. The top tier was richly flavored beef with sauce, the middle tier was a selection of fresh vegetables, and the bottom tier had cooked vegetables and pan-fried egg crepes. Many of the vegetables in the middle tier were things I had never tried before—just by appearance, I couldn’t guess what they were—but they were incredibly refreshing and unique in texture. The beef and sauce from the top tier could be mixed in to enhance the flavor of the vegetables, and the sauce itself was truly delicious. The green curry pork was also very good—definitely worth recommending. The only slight letdown was the shrimp rolls. We probably left them out for too long before eating, so the outer layer had gone a bit soft, which affected the texture. Overall, we were very satisfied with the experience. For a Michelin one-star restaurant, the price was very much worth it. One of the staff members was also very kind—when she saw that my mum was exhausted and had dozed off, she quietly told me not to wake her even though it was almost close to closing time. I really appreciated that thoughtfulness. To be honest, if you’re looking for classic, mainstream Thai flavors, this place might leave you a bit disappointed. But if you’re open to trying something special and a little different from the usual Thai cuisine, it’s worth considering. (We didn’t try the seafood, so we can’t comment on how it tastes.)

We simply walked in at dinner time and were given a very nice table. Sort of chic, elegant yet still relax set up with white table cloth, beautiful architecture. The dishes were beautifully presented, delicious, service was very attentive and warm. A very enjoyable, relaxing dining experience.
