Miami’s 13 Best Thai Restaurants | Eater Miami

"This restaurant is named after Khaosan Road, a colorful and vibrant part of Bangkok known for its bars, clubs, local food, and shopping. As an attempt to bring a piece of Thailand to Coral Gables, this spot honors its roots with dishes that transport its diners to Southeast Asia. Highlights include the jumping shrimp appetizer made with shrimp cooked in spicy paste, lime juice, scallion, red onions, and cilantro; and kao moo dang, which is roasted barbecue pork, chicharron, Chinese sausages, boiled egg, served with a flavorful sauce." - Amber Love Bond

I got served the soda in a glass that had lipstick from the last patron not fully cleaned off, and the server didn’t know what “mild plus” was for spice levels. At $20-$30+ per dish, I was surprised at the lack of care with cleaning the glasses and the lackluster service. The one time the server checked on me he filled my Sprite with water. The restaurant is open seating and half the shop is traditional chairs and tables while the other half of the shop is low tables to dine while sitting on cushions on the floor. The pad Thai - the most common of all Thai dishes and a staple of any Thai restaurant - was fine. It’s nothing I’d write home about, or recommend to a friend. It was just… there. They’ve fallen into the trap of relying on added spice in substitution for having a good base flavor. At just under $24 before gratuity for a pad Thai and a Sprite I wanted better. 2/5.

Google
Highly recommend the pad thai and khao soi! The pad thai was very delicious and the khao soi had just enough spice. 10/10 recommend. Will definitely come back to try other things. We also got the fried donuts which were very fresh

Google
I was very impressed by the authentic Thai flavors! I looked for some time for a good Thai restaurant. Look no further, this is it. The authentic flavor is on point 👏. They have a variety of seating options; you can sit outdoors on a lovely active pedestrian walk or inside. I recommend the indoor traditional floor seating with Mon Thai Pillows. My favorite dish was the "E-sarn Sausage" but be careful with the chilies are very spicy. The "Earth, Wind and Fire" was very delicious as well. If you like Duck they have a number of appetizing duck dishes.

Google
They do everything right with the food, but their service is distracted. Would definitely recommend the massamun curry, it was aromatic and rich. The fried rice had perfect flavor bursts! We had asked for extra plates, after a long wait we had to get them ourselves. They had forgotten a dish in our order, and we had to remind them to bring it.

Google
Khaosan Road is my absolute favorite place for Thai food. I've never had a Pad Thai as delicious as theirs. The atmosphere is fun and quiet and the service is efficient and kind. A must if you are looking for authentic Thai food at the Gables.

[Exploring Asian Cuisine: A Flavorful Odyssey ] Stepping into Khaosan Road Coral Gables is like being transported to a world of vibrant culture and flavors. The atmosphere is incredibly pleasant, with every detail carefully curated to evoke a sense of peace and serenity. Customer service is beyond caring, reflecting their loyalty to both their culture and customers. But let's talk about the food – it's an explosion of rich and flavorful delights that will leave your taste buds begging for more. What's truly unique is the experience of dining "on the floor," which not only adds to the authenticity but also allows your vagus nerve to function better, ensuring you savor every bite without overeating As you immerse yourself in detailed and colorful decorations, you can't help but feel a deep connection to the culture and traditions they embrace. It's more than just a meal; it's an emotional journey that leaves you feeling nourished in both body and soul. So, if you're craving an unforgettable dining experience that taps into your senses and emotions, look no further than Khaosan Road Coral Gables.

Google
We decided to go for some Thai food for lunch, it was a great idea to do it in Khaosan, the food was awesome, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm for a cold day in Miami. We started with the Khao Soy soup, in reality we had ordered the Beef Stew but the waitress confused the ordered because we talked about both dishes. In any case it was a great confusion, the soup was delicious. Then we went for the Pad Thai, aiming for something traditional, and closed with the Kao Moo Dang. The service was friendly and the atmosphere welcoming and Thai-like. We'll certainly come back!

Google
Been coming to this restaurant since we first found her!!! The authenticity and consistency is the key. As someone who is very familiar with Thailand and Thai food, this is definitely the place to go. their Pad See Yew and Bangkok fried rice are soooooo delicious, we got to get both every time we are here. People need to know about this place.

Yelp
Great atmosphere for a nice dinner with friends. The service was exceptional with German. He was helpful and patient with us. My friend didn't know what she wanted to order, so he explained the menu items. We had a nice time while sitting outdoors. We ordered the Pad Thai and Curry with tofu. We each had Thai tea. The flavors were right and the portions were good.

Yelp
Good flavorful food and a beautiful spot on pedestrian friendly Giralda Ave are the only things I need to have a good time. Khaosan Road is exactly that with its delicious curries that won't break the bank. This restaurant is very vegetarian friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
Super authentic Thai food in a cute part of Coral Gables. My go-to Thai food is the Pad See Ew which I always get with tofu. This is one of favs in Miami! Sidenote- I spent 5 months in Thailand studying abroad during college. We also tried the Pad Thai and Red Curry with duck which were also very authentic, although Duck isn't something you typically find in Thailand, for curries, at least. We went for lunch time around 2pm so it wasn't busy at all. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would come back!

C M.

Yelp
Great decor with classic Thai action movies. Staff was great but food disappointing. I ordered duck curry and duck was grainy and gritty. The curry was terrific but almost sent duck back. Maybe I should have.
google avatar

Yelp
The restaurant is nicely decorated to portray Thailand and the decorations makes me feel like I'm in Thailand. The outdoor seating has umbrellas, so that's really nice. The restaurant and including the bathroom or clean. The food is good and authentic, out of the 5 to 6 different dishes that we ordered only one that we didn't like as much which is the chicken laab with taste a little sweet which it shouldn't, according to. We returned the next day to eat here again, and try other dishes. Customer service was nice. Our first first tour and the first day was awesome. He does make some recommendation as to the different spicy level (Thai spicy or American spicy). I met the cook and she was really friendly.

Yelp
This place is amazing and so authentic. The people are super nice and i personally love the area where you get to sit on cushions in the floor. My favorite here is the massoman curry, spring rolls, pad Thai and the drunken noodles. Love it here!
google avatar

Jose T.

Yelp
Now occupying the old Bangkok Bangkok location this place kept some of the old dishes as name to capitalize on the reputation. They also updated the decor of the interior keeping the large area where you can sit in the floor. They have added some dishes based on Thai street food and those are where they shine. My favorite is a pork belly dish that is just amazing. The pork chunks are crispy and delicious cooked in an excellent sauce. I not been able to order anything else as these are so good I get them every time. The wife always gets a shrimp dish that's more traditional Thai and those are very good too

Yelp
We were sitting outside, before it got too hot, and a friend stopped by. He wholeheartedly advised us to get the chive dumplings, and we silently gave ourselves a pat on the back for having already ordered them. Our waitress took us into the air conditioning and refilled our waters. The dumplings came out from the kitchen and were amazing. Next time we might have to order two. My pad Thai had lots of chicken and veggies. My daughter had pad kee mao noodles. She spent a month in Thailand and declared lunch to be great. We finished with banana pieces fried in dough accompanied by a scoop of ice cream. By the way, khaosan is situated in an area of the Gables with the road closed to pedestrian traffic, making it a popular spot for food traffic and eateries.

Gabrielle D.

Yelp
My teenage son and I were craving roasted duck soup noodles. We were very pleasantly surprised to come across this restaurant that had exactly the dish we were craving on their menu! It was absolutely delicious! We also had the chicken satay as well as the fried banana with vanilla ice cream and chocolate which were also absolutely delicious! The lemongrass and sorel non-alcoholic beverages we had were also very delicious and refreshing! Our waitress was wonderful, kind and helpful too! She said her name was "Tim". We had a great meal here! Also, we enjoyed sitting Thai-style at a table low to the ground with cushions to sit on.

Yelp
We ordered take out. The food was delicious. Great portion. The curries were sooo good.

Yelp
Super authentic Thai food in the neighborhood, and good price. The service is fast and friendly.

Yelp
We were in the mood to order Thai food and we hadn't in months and decided to give this a shot. We ordered shrimp massaman curry, drunken noodles and whole fried fish - little big man sauce. It arrived about 45 minutes after. Massaman was delicious and fragrant with lots of shrimp Whole fried fish was crispy, a lot of fish, super fresh and sauce reminded me of Thailand. Drunken noodles were delicious but could've had more noodles. Pretty good will try again!

Yelp
Cute little Thai restaurant right on Giralda! Parking is a bit of a pain, you'll have to find street parking or a nearby garage and walk. Inside is decorated with Thai movie posters, very cute. Our waiter was very friendly and always had a smile on his face. The food was really good, I would like to try other items on the menu next time. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
Khao San road is on Giralda. If you're looking for authentic Thai, this is a good spot the pad-Thai is fantastic, and so is the beef stew soup with noodles. Service was great. In terms of parking your left to Coral Gables St. parking. I wish their menu had a few more appetizers, such as calamari or squid rings as they're often called in Thailand, but the Gyozas we ordered were tasty nonetheless.
google avatar

Mitzi H.

Yelp
Near here or there. The food was alright, nothing bad and nothing great. We had crab wagons, fried wings, sausage cups and pork belly stir fry. The service was more than decent. Everything came out in a timely manner and nothing was wrong. The ambiance was nice as it was on the street and had pretty lighting.
google avatar

Yelp
We stumbled upon Khalistan Road last night just 10 minutes before the kitchen closed. The weather was so lovely we decided to sit outside. There were several other patrons already seated inside and out so seemed like they were pretty busy. Despite being relatively busy the staff was very nice, and extremely attentive while not hovering over us. Our server made a few recommendations, as they were closing we quickly ordered the spring rolls to start, my bf had a pork in basil sauce dish which he was very happy with, while I had my usual chicken pad thai which was delish. The chicken can sometimes be a little stiff and chewy but that was not the case here. Servings were pretty large and we knew they were closing soon so we asked for boxes and enjoyed the rest for lunch today. We will definitely be back when we have some more time.

Yelp
Food amazing. It is real Thai food. Delicious duck basil. Service was really nice. Ambiance, the section were you sit without shoes in the floor is recommended. Please if you go with children that don't know how to behave better you don't go, respect the people that work there and the other customers.
google avatar

Art R.

Yelp
The dumplings were very good, however I found the soup portions to be relatively small for the prices. The rice is excellent and the traditional Thai plates don't disappoint. Simple and non pretentious at reasonable prices.

Yvonne L.

Yelp
Service is prompt and food is always good. I like that it is a small place and feels cozy

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Miami because they offer authentic dishes that don't often pop up on menus in other Thai restaurants. Located on Giralda in Coral Gables, they have outside dining on the street, though the indoors dining room is beautifully decorated as well so it's hard to choose. I selected Kao Mun Kai, because I love this chicken dish so much I basically order every chance I get. This version does not disappoint - the rice is aromatic and the chicken tender. Kao Ka Moo is another popular Thai street food that is rarely offered in American Thai restaurants. The pork hock is flavorful and melt-in-your-mouth succulent. The portions are also very generous, we have enough leftover for another full meal. Maybe the dishes we ordered are not the most common ones, it took a while for them to arrive, but the waiter was nice enough to keep us informed. There are many enticing dishes on the menu, so we'll definitely be back to explore more!!

Yelp
food was great but our server was incredible. great spot for authentic thai food with some twists on traditional dishes

Yelp
I can't stay away !!!! Get the green papaya salad. Get the Jumping Shrimp. (jump into my mouth) Those little sausages are killer. Sit outside, the inside decor is meh. Great service. The food is so fresh and so clean, clean. I'll be back soon 'cause I'm the Duke of this joint.
google avatar

Jasleen M.

Yelp
Good Thai food but not excellent, tastes authentic but something is missing, as if they dumbed down Thai flavor for Miami folk. Tried the green curry and pad Thai. place is clean and staff is very nice, good for work lunch.
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
We enjoy coming here to sit on the at the tables on the floor. My little one loves the chicken fried rice. Khao Soy noddle soup is delicious! It's a Thai curry with noodles, coconut milk, chicken, yellow curry. I added a bit of their chili oil to give it a little kick. Their plum wine is great as well. Jorge is a wonderful and attentive waiter who always comes around to check in on us and refill drinks. We'll be back!
google avatar

Udit M.

Yelp
Very good thai food i have in a while. The duck basil and chicken wings are out of this world good. Cant wait to come back here again when i visit Miami again.
google avatar

Ajade N.

Yelp
So I got the chive dumplings. I think that's what they're called. I loved them. They were extremely hot in temperature. Which I'm happy about because I ordered take out. Also ordered the duck basil. It was perfect. Right amount of seasoning and perfect skin texture on the duck. Definitely would order the same exact thing again next time I'm craving Thai.
google avatar

Dan Y.

Yelp
Found this resturant on Yelp so went with the reviews. Service, food and value are excellent! Basil duck is the best I've ever had. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Joseph W.

Yelp
Very poor service. Very slow to take your order they don't clean the tables. Too bad. The duck was good.
google avatar

Carlos S.

Yelp
Excellent food, lots of vegan and vegetarian options. I think this is the former Bangkok City. Prices are definitely more reasonably than other Thai restaurants nearby, even though it's in the Gables restaurant area. Food is much better IMO. Curries are tasty, we had red and green but not a heavy or thick as typical. Green papaya salad is perfectly seasoned although I doubt it's really 100% vegan, I'll ask next time. It's awesome and I don't really care if there's a little fish sauce in there. Seems like the owners are bringing Thai food into the healthier diet era but keeping the great traditional tastes. My kids loved the "chicken on a stick" satay and the sticky rice. Traditional floor seating and table seating available, as well as outside terrace and takeout. Go here, and tell me I'm wrong.
google avatar

Vanessa S.

Yelp
Thai food is my favorite and I am so happy I found this restaurant. The food here is delicious and savory. I love that they offer indoor and outdoor seating. The inside is super cool and full of movie posters. I came here by myself and ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and the Tom Kar Gai soup. The soup was so delicious and came with a hearty amount of mushrooms. The Pad Thai was very delicious and definitely consider it comfort food. This place is not mind-blowing but if you are in the mood for good Thai food, this place is a great choice!
google avatar

Albs R.

Yelp
Sit outside on Giralda in the evenings or they have this really cute traditional seating area inside. Yummy Thai food at affordable prices, service is pretty quick. Favs are the Panang curry, Massaman curry, and spring rolls. Dishes are very flavorful.
google avatar

Ju L.

Yelp
Stopped by Khaosan Road for a quick lunch today as it is conveniently located a few blocks away from our hotel. Between my husband and I, we had the papaya salad, a tofu pad thai, and a tom yum noodle. By checking in on Yelp, we were also able to redeem a couple of Thai iced teas, which were delicious and refreshing. The papaya salad and tofu pad thai tasted very authentic, unfortunately the tom yum noodle, which was a soup noodle did not have any tom yum flavors, instead, it tasted like a pad thai soup, and wasn't good. We sat outside with our pup, but the inside of the restaurant looked super cute.
google avatar

Mae N.

Yelp
Wow! Loved this place and will always come back! The most Authentic Thai food I've had in so long. There's lots of dishes that a lot of other Thai restaurants do not offer. Service was great, great atmosphere and everyone was so nice!
google avatar

Devon S.

Yelp
Tucked away in the Coral Gables miracle mile area, this spot brings traditional Thai culture and flavors to your dining experience. Passed through for an early dinner with one of my good friends. The service was friendly and the food was good. You might miss it if your not looking for it but worth a try if you're in the area and looking for Thai. Note: I started eating before I realized I had not taken a picture of the entrée. It was good.
google avatar

Shirley C.

Yelp
Located in a closed off street - mainly for restaurants in Coral Gables. Great ambiance! We ordered two Pad Thai one with shrimp and one with beef and it was delicious! The service was great and quick. Very attentive. We recommend and will be back!
google avatar

Аліна К.

Yelp
I saw a good rating for this place, but in fact I have to leave a 2 star review as the food was not tasty, I am very disappointed. The food is not good! We ordered pad thai, tom yam and lemongrass drink. All three items lacked any flavor at all!! Tom yam was not red, broth was clear and salty, shrimp was raw. I do not recommend this place ‍

Sara L.

Yelp
this food does NOT miss !!! favorite restaurant in all Miami, ask what they recommend and trussssttt ! Best green curry i've had anywhere, Som Tum papaya salad is so fresh and citrusy with the perfect spice. The chicharrons Gra Pao, PhENOMENAL! Pad See Eew gotta be best i've ever had. everything i ate here is best i ever had. If you're wondering what restaurant to try next in Miami look no further. Imo surpasses Pisco, Root in Bone, all the fancy restaurants, I've tried in Miami. The fancy restaurants all had a few stand out dishes however, every single thing I ordered at this restaurant was a stand out.
google avatar

Ilmia A.

Yelp
Did takeout from here with a co-worker and we both really enjoyed the food. We had the duck basil with the chicken with cashew and gyoza as an appetizer. We both felt the portions were reasonably large and the food was really good and fresh. I would like to be back and dine in to experience the place entirely.
google avatar

M R.

Yelp
Authentic Thai in Miami, finally! High quality ingredients and classic recipes. Someone in our party has a gluten allergy and they were very accommodating--they know their Tamari :-)! I can't wait to go back and try more.
google avatar

Marcela P.

Yelp
SOOOO GOOD!! I hadn't had good Thai food in a long time and this place was IT! I tried the shrimp coconut soup, shrimp pad Thai and green curry - all of which were delicious!! Cute restaurant and great service! Also conveniently located in giralda ave in coral gables!! Definitely recommend and cannot wait to go back - I'm regularly craving their soup!
google avatar

Mel E.

Yelp
The basil duck is AMAZING! I also loved the Bangkok Bangkok fried rice; they need to add more shrimp but the flavors were good nonetheless. The ambiance is really rad (that's the best way to describe it); absolutely loved it! We had a great time and enjoyed the food. We will be back. Enjoy!
google avatar

Win A.

Yelp
Highly highly recommend! The food here is the closest to actual authentic Thai food from Thailand! Their spicy is Asian spicy so be careful with the spice but it just hits the spot for me. Som Tum, Pad Khra Pao and pork egg noodles were absolutely full of flavors! Can't wait to go back there again.
google avatar

Cherry O.

Yelp
Delicious Thai food. I'm Thai and I am super picky when it comes to choosing authentic Thai food, and this place was as close as you can get without having to go to Thailand. Service was excellent and they allowed dogs to dine in the outside seating area. I will definitely stop here when I visit visit Miami again.

Rey M.

Yelp
Food never disappoints. This place has become my Sunday dinner tradition for the past few months. You can't go wrong with an o Tom Kai Gai, Pad Thai, and Som Tum.
google avatar

Barbie P.

Yelp
I'm very sad to write this review. I have always had delicious food and pretty good service at Khaosan Road. The menu is fresh and exciting. Last night, I received my Panang Curry Chicken with a scalding, broken sauce and rubbery chicken. I ate it, but not all of it. Now, I've been awake since 2:45 am and it's 4am. I have a stomach ache, headache, and can't sleep! I knew the sauce had split when the dish was put in front of me. What do you say? "Oh, I cook and your suce has split and my mouth is on fire." Right!! I ate it like a moron and I'm reaping the rewards! Our service was good. The '70's-'80's music was fun but blaring. Unfortunately, the sound has nothing to bounce off of and even a conversation echos. It's going to be a long time before I go back. Word up, don't boil a sauce at a really high heat after it's already cooked and chilled!
google avatar

Cynthia C.

Yelp
Amazing, authentic, delicious Thai food!!! Every time I'm in Miami - I'm eating here!
google avatar

Sallie D.

Yelp
Thai street food inspired place with some unique dishes you don't see often. Loved their e-San sausage dish which comes in little lettuce cups (see pic) that are really fun to eat. Steamed chive dumplings were also tasty, kind of sticky and gooey. Dishes and utensils they had were really cute and picture perfect.
google avatar

Natalie L.

Yelp
Man, I had high hopes for Khaosan after reading all the positive reviews. Not sure if we went on an off-night or something, but man, we were not impressed. Hate to knock the food bc the service was so good, but it's the truth :/ vibe was nice, love the outside seating at night, but food fell short overall.
google avatar

Claudia J.

Yelp
Not your typical thai food flavor, it's unique, and good. But dishes seem to be missed "wok hei". Wok hei is the soul of chinese cooking, this might not be chinese cooking but many asian cultures use a wok in their cuisines. The science behind it is the smokey flavor resulting from caramelization of augars and smoking oil, according to the Michelin Guide. The flavors are definitely different, worth trying.
google avatar

Javier P.

Yelp
Very pleasant atmosphere, green curry was flavored nicely, Snapper was slightly over breaded which also hide the fact that parts of the fish were not that fresh food other than that was decent. I suggest that you order your fish grilled instead of fried
