My husband and I recently visited Khinkali House after hearing good things about their khinkali. Overall, our experience was enjoyable, with some standout moments.
We started our meal with a pickled vegetable medley that included pickles, cabbage, green tomato, cauliflower, and carrots. Unfortunately, the dish was too salty for my taste, so it wasn't a favorite of mine.
Next, we tried the Khachapuri, a traditional Georgian cheese bread. It was our first time trying it, and we were impressed. The dough was soft and perfectly baked, with a generous amount of flavorful cheese inside - a delicious start to our meal.
Finally, we moved on to the main event: khinkali. We decided to try both boiled and fried versions. My husband preferred the boiled khinkali, while I found the fried version to have a better taste. The meat filling was tasty, and the broth inside each dumpling was flavorful.
One thing to note: the waiter asked if we wanted sour cream or butter with our khinkali, and we decided to try both. However, we were surprised to find that these were extra charges on our bill, which wasn't mentioned on the menu. While I didn't mind paying for the sour cream, I mentioned that we didn't touch the butter, and the waiter kindly removed it from our bill. She was very attentive throughout our meal, checking in on us several times to make sure we were satisfied.
To finish, I ordered an Armenian coffee, which was quite nice, though nothing extraordinary. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and while we chose to sit inside, the outdoor area looked inviting, especially for an evening visit.
Overall, we enjoyed our time here and are considering trying their pelmeni on our next visit.
