The 16 Best Break-Up Restaurants In Philly

"Stuck with this big tidal wave of emotions, there’s only one way to let it out: throwing an axe into a plank of wood while picturing your ex. The massive Old City axe-throwing bar has a long list of beers and a menu of sliders, flatbreads, and tacos like carne asada. But the most important thing it offers is the ability to release stress. And that’s exactly what you’ll need when you realize them forgetting your birthday was a huge indicator that they weren’t ready for a serious relationship.  " - candis mclean

Kick Axe Throwing Review - Old City - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Kick Axe is an Old City bar where you can see if your fantasy of being a viking warrior has any legs. Outside of a long list of beers, flatbreads, and tacos on the menu, they have a singles’ night every Thursday and Happy Hour from 4-6pm (when things are half off). Stop by on a night when you need to relieve some stress, want a decent order of wings, or really think you have a calling to be the next Ragnar." - Candis R. McLean

Play Games at These 10 Activity-Filled Philly Bars - Eater Philly

"Axe throwing venues are popping up in cities across the country. In Philly they’re usually BYOB, but hipster hunting lodge Kick Axe has a bar serving beer and wine. Don’t worry (too much): An “Axe Pro” is assigned to each group to ensure everyone stays safe while hurling sharp objects. You don’t have to be signed up for an axe session to head here since there’s also a lounge with board games." - Sarah Maiellano

Took my kids to try Nerfball on a Sunday night, and we had the place all to ourselves! The instructor was friendly and attentive, checking in on us multiple times to make sure everything was going well. The kids had a blast shooting darts and burning off some energy—it was a great, active way to spend an evening. The activity definitely worked up an appetite, so we ended up grabbing dinner nearby afterward. While we didn’t eat here, the experience itself was enjoyable, and the staff made it welcoming. Would recommend for a unique and fun family outing!

Google
I took my team for a team building event and we had an amazing time! The vibe was, food and customer service was superior! The manager Sharlee and our host Ryan made our experience outstanding! Even when we’re done there was a host of games we played and everyone was friendly. We will definitely be booking again more people from our agency!

Google
We had a great time on our date night! We visited on a Thursday evening and had the place mostly to ourselves. April was so friendly and helpful. I was truly horrible but had a great time regardless. The games were fun and it is a very cute place! The food was mid at best but not the reason we came anyway. the drinks were reasonably priced for being in Olde City.

This place is fun for a family with older teens. Several groups around us, of all adults, were having a lot of fun too. We have older teens and this was a great way to spend an evening together. The staff is the best part about this place. They are friendly and attentive. The food is basic bar fare but not bad at all, it hits the spot. The axe throwing is a good time. Our instructor was excellent and I landed way more axes than I didn’t after some instruction. The gals at the bar were super friendly. We will definitely come back each time we visit our college kiddo in Philly.

Came in last night for my birthday with my two friends . I really appreciate that we were able to wait for my last friend to arrive with no issue . Kai was a good instructor , very good personality and answered all of my dumb questions lol . The drinks were eh , 3 drinks in I was still flat out sober but the chicken bites in the jack Daniel’s bbq sauce were good. We were attempting to play the games but after a while we just started throwing the axe to see if we could land if . I wanna come back with my daughter one day for the nerf gun activity . The location was very convenient for someone who takes septa as well. Shout Out to Kai , I hope my little tip reached you 😂

Google
Took my husband here for his birthday and we had a ball. Our instructor April was the best and more than helpful the entire time. There were plenty of games to play and the atmosphere was very chill. The staff were friendly, food was good and the drinks were strong. We will be going back whenever we want a chill, kid free date.

Google
Had a reservation for two here and I was running a little late because I had to look for parking (I would suggest taking public transportation) and they were very accommodating and allowing me to push back my reservation time to a half hour later. Once arriving, we checked in at the front desk and to the right of you are tablets where you can sign your waiver. I do love that this is a different experience however, I lack the upper body strength and aim to do this for an hour straight. I personally was fine with just a half hour lol. I ordered wings and a drink. It did take some time for the food and drinks to come out. The food came out first and then maybe 20 minutes later the drinks came out that’s why I took a star away for service because it was such a long wait. And the place was not crowded at all. The wings were OK in flavor, I got buffalo and it wasn’t really all that hot. But they were doable.

Google
Awesome time throwing with great Harry Potter atmosphere, didn't get to try the food but the drinks were good and the instructor Matthew was great, the Harry Potter theme and ambiance was awesome I asked at the front desk about more stuff ex (wand painting) they weren't too sure. We got to play 3 different games of axe throwing in the amount of time and was definitely worth the cose of 35$ a person plan on going back it was an awesome way to spend my birthday. If you have 10+ they have a den that you can rent that seems worth it and they can also do catering.

Yelp
The churros and drinks were great. The axe throwing was phenomenal. There's little side games that make it so much fun. Our Axe Master Marthew Masson was great. Fun guy good conversation. Made the experience extremely enjoyable

Yelp
I happen to check back and see the owner's responses to my original review. I can confirm they never refunded my card. I just wanted to set the record straight. I had an experience and the owner responded trying to save face by making a false statement. Consumer beware is all I'm saying

Yelp
Very well decorated place! The wait can be about 1 hour but you can get food and play board games while you wait. Drinks are all around $14-30 and food is about the same. The fries were pretty good and the buffalo wings were decent. Axe throwing was $25 a person for 1 hour and 15 minutes. There were a lot of games to choose from and they gave good instructions. Overall a fun place to hangout.

Yelp
This place is a lot of fun! You might be asking "can I throw an axe without embarrassing or injuring myself??" Yes, you can. I don't have the best hand eye coordination and I stuck the axe in the middle of the board on my first throw. The staff is very friendly and will give you the proper instructions, which is like three simple steps. In under 5 minutes you will be hitting the board easily. This place is great for office parties or team building events. My work team went and we loved it. It makes for friendly competition and great photos. They have a good selection of beer, and plenty of great food choices. Axe throwing is definitely a must try for every one!

Yelp
This is the most stylish of axe throwing spots. It has a nice vibe, with a game room, a bar, and decor that is beyond a cold warehouse like other places I've thrown axes. Staff are helpful. They will stick around and give you throwing advice, or they will hang back and let you have fun (safely, under their watchful eyes of course). The menu is better than an axe throwing place needs to offer. It's easy to make a reservation online, and they are organized about entry and having everyone sign in and read the waiver. They have leagues, and happy hours, and discounted days. If you are bad at planning ahead, they usually have some drop-in spots available. Good times.

Yelp
We ended up at Kick Axe after the Phillies got postponed from these Canada wildfires. My gf and I had never been to an axe throwing place and we were looking for something else to do on a date night. We ended up here and I am very happy that she picked this place! The atmosphere was lively and we only had a short wait while the pro for our bay was getting available. They have food and drinks (both alcoholic and non) available which you can order at the bar or on your phone to be delivered to your bay which is awesome. The drink prices weren't bad either. The staff makes sure you understand the safety rules before you get going, and we both had a blast throwing. Great place for a fun outing and also to let off some steam.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this yelp event. It was a fantastic venue located close to public transit options, and great way to meet fellow yelpers. I adored the Philly history themed neon signs and decor. The space felt really fresh. My team threw axes in one of the Halloween themed booths and had a blast. Staff have a great tutorial on how to throw safely. Food highlights for me included the perfectly goey cheesesteak sliders and crispy churros. Had a great time!

Yelp
Food was amazing and tasty, Eddie was an awesome host to us. Defo coming back place was amazing. Good amount of time on the throwing aswell.

Yelp
Za is really like that! He's the MAN! The best employee there is! He made the experience absolutely amazing!

Yelp
I came here on a Friday night to celebrate my cousin's bday. It was a surprise gathering so all of her guests gathered and waited by the bar until she arrived. The bar area is small but there is lounge-style adjacent to the bar for overflow. I ordered a Kick Axe Mule while I waited, which was pretty good. I closed my tab after receiving my drink and shortly after my cousin arrived. We were escorted to a semi-private area and provided with instructions and then allowed time to practice. When we were about halfway through we were given instructions to play a game but I don't think anyone really "played" the game because we were having so much fun doing our own thing. In the midst of practice throwing, I did order wings which were DELICIOUS; odd enough, this place does not sell fries. After our session was up, we were escorted to the "den"; I assume this was an extra charge but I am not sure however, this semi-private lounge/den area was a nice touch as it allowed us time to chill, chat, eat and drink a little more before departing. I never thought that I would like axe throwing but I thoroughly enjoyed myself at Kick Axe. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Yelp
Such a fun first visit. The music they were playing was fun as you jam out to classics. Every employee is so sweet and patient as they help teach you how to throw. Plus the drinks were yummy. This place is a fun date night for some intimate competition or friendly games amongst friends. Deff can't wait to come back for another date night.

Yelp
If you're looking for something to do in Philly, check out Kick Axe. Perfect for dates and hanging out with friends. This is my 2nd time axe throwing, 1st time at this location and this is my favorite so far! The vibes were on point through the place. Check in was easy, the aesthetics were dope, the staff was amazing. There is a full bar and an area you can simply kick back and play board games. I didn't get a chance to eat or see the menu but there is food to order. I really enjoyed myself

Yelp
Neat atmosphere, took some getting used to in the dim lighting. If you're new to axe throwing you may get the hang of it quicker but these (for me) are heavier axes than I've used at other axe-throwing places and it took some getting used to... the employees were nice and chill but we had a booking but got there a little early and even though there was NO ONE else there to throw yet we still had to wait till the booking time while the employees huddled around and talked amongst themselves. Oh well. It was fine once we got started though. Just when we first came in it felt unwelcoming being told "okay go sit there until your time" which we totally would have understood if it was like packed or something. But. Anyways.

Yelp
If you're looking to let off some steam & grab a drink on your own, spend a cool couple of hours with your honey or wanting a fun escape for a group of friends- this venue is the perfect place to come to! First off, walking in the door you're greeted by neon lights and a cozy cabin feel wrapped up together to welcome you inside! The atmosphere is rustic and fun, with lots of cozy spaces to sit down and rest your feet. There's a super cool front lounge area with couches and chairs and a large space to play large scale Connect Four and other games. The menu is FABULOUS!!! I highly recommend the sliders and the amazing cheese they have in them is so tasty! The churros are served warm and crispy and loaded with cinnamon and sugar coatings- yummmmmy! When you've had your fill of the menu items and delicious drinks (cucumber twist is my fav) head on back to the main attraction! The ax throwing space is super cool, equipped with over a dozen target boards and all have high top tables to relax, eat, drink and throw some ax!!! I'm excited for the next trip in! 5 stars!

Yelp
Vibe: I love this place. Lots of good ventilation. A nice lounge area with games, drinks and food. Staff: the staff are great, very friendly. Rules: bring closed toed shoes or else you have to wear the shame shoes haha. Instruction: the instruction staff were really nice and helpful. I caught on fast for my first time!

Yelp
Very cute, very warm and cozy, not too loud. The staff is always nice, they have many games you can play if you don't want to axe throw, it has something for everyone. I've never eaten here so I can't tell you if the food is good but the drinks were okay, nothing spectacular. All in all, I highly recommend. Bring a date, bring friends, come alone, it's a good time.

Yelp
Who knew axe throwing could be so fun and a stress reliever. We popped in here due to all day raining weather. And must say, I am so glad we did. We checked in and had to sign the waivers; you had a choice to sign in via by scanning the bar code or utilize the tablet nearby. There was a party ahead of us that was being assisted so we were advised to wait and/or take a detour to the bar while we wait. Good choice I made add, the drinks were very good and CK came and introduced himself as our instructor and will be with is momentarily. Not soon after that, CK came and took us to our station to give us instructions. During his instructions, he gave us the do's and don'ts of axe throwing. He showed us how to properly handle the axes and how to position ourselves, as well as throwing the axes. He helped us with our posture and here is the most important step, have fun! And indeed we had fun!!! I WON ALL 3 GAMES! I will definitely going to do this again.

Yelp
I always told myself I was never going to go axe throwing because I couldn't picture people drinking alcohol and throwing axes lol but I'm so glad I gave it a try. Axe throwing was so much fun and I would definitely come back to this location. When you walk in, don't get scared by that fake person that's standing by the entrance lol. We were taken right away to sign in and then sat down until it was our turn. The decor is very dope, I loved it! We didn't order any drinks or food so I can't speak on that but there were a good amount of choices. When we were taken back, every spot was filled so we had to pair up with a couple but we had such a great time even though we were complete strangers. To be honest, during the game instructions time, I zoned out but the instructions on how to safely through the axe were very helpful (it got me some bullseyes!) It would be nice if they printed out and laminated the game instructions since there are 3 separate games so we sometimes forgot what to do/how points are given. All in all, we all had a great time! The main reason I am knocking off a star is that they need to redo some of their boards. It's not exciting/fair when you throw the axe and it slips out because there are huge cracks in the wood. I'm hoping this is fixed now but the lights were out in two of the stalls in the women's bathroom when I went. Not fun lol. Almost done, I promise. There are a lot of fun bars to go to afterward!

Yelp
Cool place, went in for a cocktail and ordered and old fashion, not the best I've had but hell I came here to throw an Axe! Needed a stiff drink to prepare for the massacre... yea maybe next time..
google avatar

Yelp
First time axe throwing and it was extremely fun! We had a party of 8 and our staff member was truly pleasant and patient when teaching us how to throw axes. We sucked at first but through her coaching, we got better then she let us do our thing. Even when seeing other staff members react with patrons, they were professional but also got along well with all of the customers. I like the way everything was set up too. You go inside, it's dimly lit, there's a decorated lounge, you can order drinks, then head into the axe throwing area. Each area is separated with plenty of space and it's comfortable. The experience was absolutely worth it and I'd 100% come back.

Yelp
Listen, if you told me I get to play with sharp objects and throw them at things (not living things) then I'd be intrigued. So when my buddy wanted to visit an axe throwing spot on our summer bachelor party trip to Philly, I excitedly obliged. Only thing was the semi-lack luster experience that ensued. Now I'm not going to necessarily bad mouth Kick Axe. My fiancée (then girlfriend) and I visited the Brooklyn location of Kick Axe a few years ago and had an easy five star experience. This led me to believe Kick Axe of Philadelphia would be just as awesome, and that's how it started out...sort of. I mean the inside lobby area just screams lumberjack and rock music which creates this masculine yet welcoming vibe. The lady at the front desk was a little less inviting as her meh attitude rubbed me the wrong way. Once we signed our waivers and moved on from the friendless front desk, our time on the axe range began...though timing turned out to be a bit of an aggravating factor in the end (more on that in a sec). We started off with a scrappy gal of an employee who went through how to throw an axe and the safety steps. She only stayed with us for a few minutes and briefly explained how to play a few different games. Her time was split between several ranges and honestly it felt like she barely spent any time by us except to tell us our hour was almost up...except, by the time we had started, we got maybe close to (but definitely under) 50 minutes. Yeah, that's not far off from an hour, but an establishment shouldn't be squeezing you on time. If anything, they should be giving you a few extra minutes due to the loss of time through explaining safety. Eh, it was what it was, which was frustrating. Overall, Kick Axe of Philly has the components to be awesome. I believe the actual place, setup, and concept is spot on (my buddy did enjoy the time we were there which was the most important part to the experience). Though if they want more than 3 stars and an actual return trip here, someone should tell their employees this is the city of brotherly love and start being a little more friendly. I mean I'd be nicer if I knew people were throwing sharp things around me. Just sayin'.

Yelp
Came here with a group for someone's birthday. Kick Axe has a really nice atmosphere and great food and bar selection. Our instructor handled our large group well and was attentive.

Yelp
Kick Axe Throwing is so much more than just axe throwing. To be honest, I am not even good at axe throwing, and I don't love doing things I'm not good at because I'm competitive. However, I would spend all of my time and money at Kick Axe if I could. Here's why: - Unlike any other axe throwing venue around, Kick Axe has a full food and beverage program - Their staff is next level helpful, friendly, and attentive - The food has no business being so delicious! Seriously, try the mac and cheese bites and thank me later. Or the pizzas, or the empanadas, or the tacos, or literally anything else. - The cocktails, and THE BARTENDERS, are incredible. I love their margarita, it is one of my favorites! The bartenders are so fun, I would happily show up to sit at the bar alone just to chat with them. - HAPPY HOUR. They have, like, really good happy hour deals. - The lounge area is gorgeous and cozy and makes you feel like you're in a gorgeous apres ski mountain bungalow. That is not all, but seriously just check them out for yourselves and you'll see why I love Kick Axe so much.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere and even better service. Matthew was an absolutely fantastic teacher. I struggled a lot with my throwing technique, and he made sure to spend enough time with me to learn how to properly throw, and kept working with me until he saw me land one on the target. Loved the decor, there was a variety of drinks and food as well!

Yelp
What a fun experience! Highly recommend to all locals and tourists!! Bar/Drinks (5/5): With a $5 Citywide special and other cheap beers and drinks it is a steal. Citywide was Wild Turkey and a PBR tallboy. Amazing service and deal! Axe throwing (5/5): Our axe throw pro was lively and vibed well with our group. We all had ample time to throw and he was perfectly constructive and instructive. The time flew by but we played multiple games which was a blast! Cost (4/5): More pricey than the other place we looked at but overall was cost effective enough for us to hold an event there. TL;DR: Highly recommend and would go back in a heartbeat.

Yelp
Thank you Kick Axe for creating a VIP-level experience for us. Do something different! This place was an absolute blast. My husband and I cannot rave enough about our wedding "rehearsal" party at Kick Axe Throwing on Market Street. Kick Axe's event planner, Brittany Grexa, was amazing. She was helpful and accommodating with endless patience, and worked with us to customize a fantastic experience on a pretty tight budget. Axe throwing and weddings don't seem a natural fit on the surface, but the space is actually very nice, spotless, and well appointed on the masculine side. We got so many comments saying, "This place is so nice! Not what I pictured when you said we're going axe throwing!" It felt like an upscale event, the food hit the spot, drinks were great and the full bar met all of our needs. Above all, we felt like VIPs! They treated our group so well, during and even after our reservation ended. Many of us stuck around for at least another hour (or two). I don't think that other restaurants and bars in the area would have been nearly as accommodating on our budget. In fact, most other places in the area wouldn't even let us reserve a corner without a $5,000 minimum. Everything about Kick Axe was a level above what we expected. The main bar and common areas were reserved for our party of 75 guests, as well as a large area with throwing ranges. The bartenders were working hard to keep the queue moving and lines short. We can't say enough about the staff! From the bartenders to the throwing "coaches," they were all so kind, welcoming, and patient. Someone on staff even walked down to Starbucks to get coffee for one of our guests! Our families and guests were all so surprised and impressed with the entire experience. This is the place to go if you want to offer your guests a fun and unique outing. Bravo.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Most Axe throwing spots I've been to don't have much in the way of ambiance; this place most certainly does. A fun bar area with neon accents on the walls greets you as you walk in. Great to kill time before your reservation with some excellent drinks and games at the tables. The bartender was fantastic both times I went. The axe throwing booths are nice and spacious and have room for you to put your drinks and food down. They say they can't guarantee you get your own booth if you have a smaller sized group, but so far I've not found that to be an issue and my party had their own booth. Possible that changes as the night gets later though! The axe throwing guides are also amazing - super helpful and attentive. They double as servers and take drink and food orders in addition to giving tips for axe throwing and explaining various game variations. Overall just a great spot; best axe throwing experience I've had!

Yelp
Great experience! Matt was great and great at balancing the teams in terms of having a good experience and balancing the expertise between the teams

Yelp
I've upgraded the stars because the owner refunded some of the fees. I hope they do fix the issues with the warm beer. It's surprising to me that bartender doesn't check the taps before opening to ensure a good product. But hey, shit happens. The online menu issues with short staff, while understandable, doesn't explain why the pictures on the menu don't match the food, don't go live with new software before testing is all I can see to that, but sure, OK. I've been to other axe throwing places and the targets seem to be replaced well before the quality they were here. And as someone else mentioned, I don't know why they insist on putting so many people so close together. The place was mostly empty and they put are party of 9 next to a party of 6 when there was plenty of a space to spread out. It was clearly an issue as one of the instructors dropped an entire tray of drinks because someone in the party of 6 bumped into him cause we were all packed into the front right next to the ramp instead of being spread out. Oh well. Thanks for the refund. I'll give ya another try sometime.

Yelp
Our alley attendant was great and stayed with us until everyone was comfortable. Only reason not giving 5 stars is because if you don't have 8 ppl they'll put other people in your alley, which kinda sucks if one group is having "fun" vs really wanting to throw a lot
google avatar

Kristina S.

Yelp
Wow! Had such fun at Axe throwing today! I've walked by multiple times and finally did a walk-in. Brandon welcomed us and accommodated us. It was an hour wait time (for a walk-in), so we sat at the bar with Andrew and we got the most delicious cocktails! Finally we get to go throw some Axes and Molly and CK gave us the run down of how it works and we had THE BEST TIME. Hands down, the most fun experience I've had in a long time! Thank you to the Philly Team for making it so great!

Yelp
Very fun place to go to do something different. The hosts were very nice and helpful to the downside. Is you have to bring your own food and beverages but other than that it was great

Nicholas L.

Yelp
Loved it! Staff was very friendly and pacient explaining how to throw and the rules of the games for first timers. Food was pretty decent though not the primary draw.
google avatar

Yelp
Kick Axe was awesome! Super cozy lodge vibe, the staff was SO nice, and they had games (like Jenga!) all over the place to entertain you while you waited for your throwing experience. 100% recommend!

Yelp
Great experience. I went for my mom's surprise 50th birthday celebration. We were a party of 15 and were accommodated properly even with the pandemic still in action. Philadelphia's mask mandate was lifted at this time so you were able to wear a mask at your leisure. Our instructor,CK made sure he was very attentive to our entire group with one on one demonstrations/instructions, taking our food orders and time management. He was energetic and funny as well as professional and assisted in making sure my mom's surprise was up to high standards. There were only 3 downsides 1. Parking (Uber,Lyft,Taxi or Public Transportation is definitely suggested) 2. Lemonade was not the best 3. No personal cakes from outside allowed So those are the only reason I gave a 4 star instead of a 5 I will definitely go again!!!

Yelp
So much fun! Don't let those axe throwing videos where they fling back scare you, bc the staff here makes sure you are throwing properly. They do serve alcohol here, but again, it's safe bc employees can flag someone. Other places are byob and can't really be controlled by staff. They have different games here to make it challenging and competitive. First game was first team to 40 wins, second was blackjack (getting 21points), and lastly was hitting every score point, and red spots first. My group had such a blast and I can't wait to do it again

Yelp
This venue was an extremely pleasant surprise, and I loved it there! I've been axe throwing once before at a different place and while it was a fun activity, I didn't realize it could be elevated into something super cute and cool. The axe throwing itself was fun here. Our instructor was very friendly (as was the whole staff!) And the vibe was so nice. The decor was cute and made the ambience great. It's all axe puns. The food and drinks here are good!! I tried their fresh af margarita, the painkiller and one more which I don't remember the name of but it was a cucumber based cocktail. It was the best one and sooo fresh tasting. I also tried their mac and cheese bites, their Philly slider, the beef empanada and their churro. The Mac and cheese bites and the small finger food empanadas were delicious and the slider and churro were pretty good. Kick Axe has a super fun vibe for group events and also a good bar if you're tryna chill. There's a small space with board games too that I didn't check out but would prolly be good if you wanted to switch things up. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for a fun night out!

Yelp
I always wanted to do axe throwing . I was glad that my friends picked this place for hangout. I did have good time in this place. The lady who helped us, she explained very well the rules and the safety. I want to point out that I believe we only did one hour game. But because we have so many people in the group and some people come late, it took a while for the lady to explain to all of us at different time. because of that reason, she gave us extra 10 minutes to play the axe throwing for the time she took to explain everything to us. I also want to mention the other things that I love about this place is that they have this section where you can sit, eat and play other games like jenga, giant uno, etc. overall good place to hangout and I deff can cross out axe throwing from my bucket list

Yelp
This place was an experience! The staff were super helpful in teaching us how to do everything but made it a fun learning experience. The hour flies by cause, time flies when you're having fun. They also have a bar where you can grab drinks, me and my party really enjoyed ourselves and the different types of axe games available were a cool twist to them.

Yelp
My team was doing our kick off event and like to do a group activity. Close to our office this seemed like a great idea and I loved everything about it. We visited on a Wednesday late afternoon. Location, great, right on Market near Old City. When you first walk in, sign your waiver and then we got a wrist band. The way I've described the decor is Canadian Hipster and everyone should just fall in love. Also, try to spot all the woodland creatures! It's fun, it's spunky, it's cool and the layout is really nice. The bar itself is smaller but plenty of tables to hang out at or lounge on the couches. My team went into the back area and had a private throwing party. We had 3 instructions who each gave great direction and did their best on giving advice on how to chuck that axe. Everyone seemed to really have a fun time, the music wasn't too loud, the beers on tap and bottle were delicious and I will definitely be back for more.

Yelp
The guy at the front desk was horrible and not friendly whatsoever, extremely rude. The asian guy (I think his name is Daniel) who was actually with us during axe throwing was awesome and the 4 stars are for him and his service. This place needs more employees like him that actually make the experience a good time rather than having the monotone, rude, probably high dude in the front. Will probably be back once restrictions aren't as limited, it was hot in there and the bar was closed.

Yelp
We had a great time at Kick Axe! Matthew did an excellent job with our safety brief and providing us with the lessons we needed to have fun throwing the axes accurately and consistently. He also made us feel welcome and at home throughout our time on the range. We highly recommend Kick Axe for a fun outing.

Yelp
Hosted a large corporate event. Staff was great. Food was surprisingly good. Everyone had a good time and we had several first timers. Would definitely recommend this for fun or business.

Yelp
The aesthetics of this place, OH MY GOSH. I waited almost a week to stir up the greatest, most detailed review because it is totally deserving of one! We reserved a session for 7:30 on a Sunday for 4 people. $35/pp for one hour. Two of the people hadn't arrived yet, so my boyfriend and I went up to the counter and a nice young man asked us what time our reservation was for. Because our full party wasn't there, he asked us to read and sign the waivers that were next to him on iPads. Pretty simple. We waited for the rest of the party in their "lounge" area, which has a bar with an okay selection of beers. There were also a few card games lying around. The furniture was very eye-catching and definitely well-maintained and clean. Once everyone signed their waivers, it was time to throw! The young man at the counter walked us to our booth and introduced us to our instructor. His name was Jaden and he gets 2 thumbs up!!! Thank you for being patient with us and giving us your undivided attention for a full hour. Jaden was thorough and gave us tips on how to improve our throws; he told us what was/wasn't allowed and made the entire experience so much fun. He kept score for us and changed up the point system to make it easier for us to rack up points. Jaden made us laugh a lot with his cheesy lines. I felt like like he was part of our group and we loved having him as our instructor. He stated that Kick Axe will soon be having leagues for anyone who is interested. Please remember to wear closed toe shoes and bring a debit card for the bar if you're buying drinks. It's a cash-less facility so no cash is accepted. I know a lot of these axe throwing places are BYOB but you will not regret coming here. It's gorgeous on the inside and the employees working here really care about the people that walk through their doors, and it shows. Thanks for a great night!

Yelp
Overall good time at Kick Axe Philly --but it was really due to the fact that most in our party already knew how to play various axe-throwing games, and that they have a kickass bartender who was extremely nice and accommodating. Our main issue was that the axe-instructor assigned to us really didn't do much --she went over the rules and taught the newcomers in our party the how-to's of axe-throwing, but then never came back to check on us even though there were no other parties playing. We were the only group there. Her absence was a far cry from the experience we've had at other locations in New York where the instructor stuck with us and made sure we were throwing better with each round, and found new ways to make games more interesting (like putting up balloons for us to aim at). I'm not ruling out a second visit at this location, but I hope that next time we'll have a more interactive instructor.

Yelp
My first time ever axe throwing was here, I was nervous but the staff put me at ease. They are very covid safe, especially with cleaning and social distancing! The space is cool, the vibes are awesome, and the music is all throwbacks. The only thing I wish they had open right now was food and drinks(they do not due to covid), otherwise all good. I can't wait to go again!

Yelp
Kick Ax is the best! The instructors are so great about teaching you the proper way to throw the ax and make sure you have a great time. On top of that, the food and drinks are so good! Whether you want to throw axes or grab a nice cocktail, Kick Ax is the perfect spot!
