Best Gay Bars in Washington, D.C. According to Eater Editors | Eater DC

"This U Street NW strip establishment fills the adjoining spaces left behind by watering holes Velvet Lounge and Dodge City, which permanently closed during the pandemic. Founded by a former manager at now-closed nearby gay bar Dirty Goose, the two-floor venture sports an upstairs balcony and recently covered downstairs patio, plus a pulsating dance floor, lounge areas, fantastic drink specials, and plenty of social sports events." - Evan Caplan

Google
A great gay bar in the heart of the U Street corridor, multiple levels, huge outdoor patio and an amazing upstairs dance club. Regular drag shows are always a hit, and the staff are great! Check it out if you've never been.

Multi level LGBTQ+ dance club & bar on U Street. Not wheelchair accessible (at least 4 steps to a bar & outdoor drinking area and a full flight of stairs to a dance floor). Male dominant but trans, non binary, and female friendly. NO smoking inside or on the patio area 🚭 Friendly bartenders. Good music (pop Top 40 remixes)

$100 for 3 Regular Drinks?! I went last Saturday and ordered vodka + Red Bull all night—$47 for 3 drinks. That was fine. But at the end of the night, the bartender took advantage of the fact that we were tipsy/drunk and charged us $100 for 3 drinks. “Double “ The price is not logic. I’ve never seen a place that automatically charges a 20% “service fee.” Mandatory “auto-gratuity” is actually illegal under the DC Consumer Protection Amendment—you can’t force people to tip.

We love having Kiki as a DCGFFL sponsor! The support means a lot to our league, and it's the perfect place for grabbing a drink with the teammates after a game. The atmosphere is always electric, the staff is fantastic, and it's the perfect place to unwind. Grateful for the partnership and looking forward to many more seasons together!

Love this place, fun, good atmosphere, friendly bartenders! People complaining about the 20% auto-gratuity - give me a break! This is not super-unusual for bars/clubs, and it just does the math for you (I tip 20% anyway), and as a former server myself, it also protects the staff from being completely stiffed on a tab. Not a big deal for me, some of y'all are trippin! Love this spot! The patio is great!

I went to this bar for the first time yesterday, approached the bartender and asked for a margarita. The price seemed reasonable and I paid 15$. The bartender asked me for my card to put my name in the system, I trusted him, and gave it to him. Today in the morning, it turns out that they charged twice the same cocktail 30$. Don't get ripped off by these people, they are not trustworthy, and I hope they didn't clone the card. I do not recommend this place if you do not go with someone who knows how to handle it.

Yelp
a favorite gay bar of mine in dc! it's kind of maze inside, there's lots of levels and 'sections', which i love about it! there's a very fun spot to dance, loads of room outside if the weather is nice, and some sections with more chairs if you want to sit at all. there's also always something going on! they usually have some kind of daily special (like sundays there's usually $5 deep eddy's drinks) and always some kind of event happening! the drinks are also very cheap (usually like $6 for a rail mixed drink) and the bartenders are so fun and so kind!! it's a great vibe and always a good time there!

Yelp
My Kiki experience was pretty short because I visited at the end of the night that involved plenty of cocktailing prior to arriving at Kiki. Overall, I liked what I saw and definitely will return to gain a better perspective. For the most part, the staff was pretty friendly and warm. Also, the clientele was pretty diverse in terms of race, ethnicity, sexutal orientation and gender. The bar has multiple levels with different flair on each floor. For me, the bar (or is it more of a club?) noise levels were fine. Yes, the music was loud, but it was not so loud that you had scream speak to talk with you companions. Since I've lived in NYC for some time, I thought the drinks were decently priced. Even if the drinks might be overpriced for some, the cocktails (in my case, gin soda with a splash of cranberry) were quite strong.

Yelp
I'll be forth right I come here for trivia so this is not really for a night club vibe. Trivia is great and will keep coming here. Prices I'm not sure about the first night having two double vodkas and soda and a happy hour pitcher came out to 90 bucks and the next week ordered like 7 drinks and a pitcher with a larger group and the bill was 60.... Thus taking a star off. Other than that have liked coming here and service has been good.

Yelp
Came here for a night out and it was ok. It was really stuffy and hot/humid from so many people in there. The music was eh and not much space to dance

Yelp
I personally LOVE Kiki! The bartender, Keith, he's absolutely amazing and super cute! He made the best drinks that were affordable and not weak! Why? Because we are not weak bitches at the Kiki! Okurrr? Anyway, the dance floor was super cute and I danced with a group of lesbians so this place is super inclusive to to the LGBTQIAPK community! And yes those are the letters including the + symbol. Moral of the story, I'm from Baltimore and I traveled down here to party and try a new location and I didn't want to pay $20 to get into nellies and this cute bar was right across the street and I'm thankful I stumbled across it. I will definitely be back! Let the games begin! *I was not drunk while writing this review, I was just really happy

Yelp
I love this bar. The bartenders are fantastic. The drag shows are SO fun. However. Please replace the speaker in the back patio. The static is unbearable. I'd love to listen to the music and hear the emcee during the drag show but I cant hear a word :(

Yelp
Súper fun and great staff! We went during a drag show and had so much fun! The drinks were cheap and there were many spots to go/dance

Yelp
Did you really charge me 8$ for a water? Lol, absolute joke. Not wanting an alcoholic drink and asking for a water to get laughed at is super gross. Hire better people

Yelp
Amazing staff, fun music, good drinks, the cutest atmosphere. I went yesterday for the first time with my friends and we had the best time. Brendan the bartender is a sweetie pie, so charismatic and full of energy. A real U st gem. My friends and I will surly be back!

Yelp
I've now supported this new gay place multiple times. I know they are in the middle of construction, which requires funding, but $20 for a Tanqueray tonic!? Mind you this is a single a plastic cup. That is stealing from your own community! What a shame.... I will be skipping this place moving forward.

Yelp
Visited with some out-of-town guests on Saturday night (8/18). With English not being my first language, I apparently asked for a Cranberry Vodka when, according to the bartender Keaton, I should have asked for a Vodka Cranberry. Apparently, me calling it a "Cranberry Vodka" instead of a "Vodka Cranberry" threw this "professional" bartender (Keaton) off balance and caused him a great deal of confusion, to the point where he felt the need to correct me. What I think can be excused is me reversing the two words in the name of a drink. What I don't think can be excused is the way he felt that he needed to correct me or the way he did it. I certainly he hope felt better after that. Strongly encourage management to give Keaton some additional training and coaching.

Yelp
Super fun place to hit up with friends. The music is great and the lights are beautiful upstairs! The drinks were also great and the bartenders fabulous!

Yelp
Kiki is half full of a fun time and half full of boring people standing and talking. Crazy that a dance bar lets people stand on a stage and talk. Music is okay at times but won't take suggestions. Would be a better gay bar if dancing wasn't discouraged by the standers.
