DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE! FIND ANOTHER ONE!
I'm glad to see that I am the first Yelp review for KST for 2022. May this be a RED FLAG to all of you brides, vendors, families and etc.! My husband and I got married on the long-awaited Twosday, 2.22.22, and my day was PERFECT thanks to my vendors and wedding planning squad. ZERO thanks to the venue, outside of its aesthetic beauty. In your contract with this venue, you have to pay for a site manager the day of your event and you pay that person $45/hour for 12 hours to help with maintenance of the property during the event, throwing out trash, refilling toilet paper and etc. Our onsite manager that day, Victoria, was ZERO help. My wedding coordinator had to go to her office, which is at the very front of the venue, constantly that day to let her know what they needed. Thank God ALL my vendors worked together and were throwing away trash and helping keep the place restocked because Victoria sure wasn't. And one of the few times she DID help with restocking, here is the icing on the cake, she brought towels, not paper towels, to restock the bathrooms. I understand the aesthetic appeal of the place with it having bedrooms and such, but we are still in the midst of a pandemic! I worked extra hard to hire someone to check negative COVID tests before all of my guests entered the venue for our wedding. Now why in the hell, for any event, would you provide towels for multiple people to wipe their hands?? We're almost in year 3 of this pandemic! Wow.
FEES FEES FEES! This venue LOVES to charge fees for EVERYTHING! I had to advocate for myself a LOT within the process of planning my wedding at this venue. I was told by Victoria that there was a flat fee of $200 to move furniture within the venue and that was fine with me. But as we got closer to the wedding date, she told me there was a $200 flat rate moving fee and then there was another $200 fee to move the dining room table (that was in the same room as the furniture I wanted to move). This made zero sense to me. Flat rate fee means flat rate fee. I would understand if this table was 500 pounds, upstairs and on the opposite side of the building, but it wasn't. It was literally 2 feet away from the other furniture I wanted moved. They don't have a list of set fees for the venue, by the way, so I'm not sure if these fees change per client/event. I asked to have that added $200 fee waived because, in my opinion, this fee wasn't fair and didn't make any sense. I ended up getting it waived, thankfully, but that whole conversation shouldn't have had to happen. This venue has a 12 hour maximum for your event, but if you need to extend your event, like I did, for 2 hours...You'll need to pay $450/hour plus the onsite manager fee, $45/hour, so I ended up paying $990 to extend my event in order to make sure my vendors had enough time to pack up and leave. I was fine with that though because I was certain I would get my $1,000.00 security deposit back! WRONG!! Pay attention to these other negative reviews when they tell you you can KISS YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT GOODBYE WHEN YOU BOOK THIS VENUE! They will find ANY way to take your security deposit away, even if that means making things up! My wedding was featured on a tv show, therefore, we had a production crew at our wedding. This production crew visited the venue and signed an agreement with the venue for our wedding that included the details of that day and all that the crew would do/participate in. This agreement was between production and KST. As we were packing up at the end of my reception, Victoria came up to me and told me that the owner (who I've never met or seen), was upset about the "impact" (not sure what this even means within the context of any event) of the crew that was at the event and that the terms of the contract were violated and that they were going to have to charge production and/or me a fee because of the scale of production. They said they would normally charge $2,500-$3,000 for having production onsite, but since it was my wedding (how nice) they would reduce the charge to $1,000. How CONVENIENT. The exact amount of my security deposit. My contract with the venue had nothing to do with this show. Production and the venue had an agreement, one that did not mention fees, but that DID mention the terms of the agreement that were all followed. So charging fees AFTER my event was wrong and AGAINST BOTH CONTRACTS!
They took my security deposit due to something that was NOT signed by me and had nothing to do with me. Deciding what I do with my security deposit is not okay and taking my money without any explanation isn't either. Did I get a response to my email? No. Will I? I doubt it. Look at the other negative reviews, this is a CONSISTENT THEME! They don't handle conflict well and they do not follow-up and try to settle things in a professional way after they get your money. You are ignored. Hire good people, ya'll. It makes a difference. Peace & love.
