The 7 Best Dim Sum Restaurants In Houston

"The Chinatown joint Kim Son has our favorite type of dim sum: unlimited. While the banquet hall isn’t decorated to the tee, it leaves more time to focus on the scores of food to get through. Every day of the week during lunch service, the middle of the massive buffet hall is devoted to steaming tins of dim sum. Swing by before 3pm from crisped turnip cake, delicate har gow, and sizzling shui mai. Get pan-fried noodles made to order, serve yourself decadent pieces of eel rolls, and get fresh pressed sugar cane juice on an unlimited tap. Strategize the rounds of food you’ll go through for brunch, or swing by with a crew and tackle as much of the buffet as humanly possible. " - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

Anticipation was building up as we flew to Houston to try this place. All hopes and dreams were broken after the first bites of all the foods. Crepes were too oily and thick, clams had lots of dirt and sand in it. Everything was very oily and too sweet. Nothing that is as good as the real authentic Vietnamese cuisines of what Kim Son Buffet represent. Please do yourself a favor by going to a Vietnamese restaurant to try the real cuisines. I'm so embarrassed and ashamed for bringing my Korean friends here and they couldn't swallow much of it. What a waste of $32/person which you could have gotten better and more quickly dinner somewhere for $125 for 4. This will be my first and last visit of this place. I should never watch a YouTube video about it because it's all a lie and great disappointment. Staff are great though. The servers are very attractive and wonderful.

Lunch time buffet. We were seated right away. Great customer service throughout the whole dining experience. Food was decent, slightly overhyped on social media, but one of a kind vietnamese buffet. They have a little bit of everything to satisfy your cravings. What I don't like is that they charge you for drinks and its not included in the buffet prices.

This was my first time experiencing a Vietnamese buffet, and I thought it was a great experience. They had a noodle bar, a street food section, desserts, and much more. Overall, everything was pretty consistent in terms of flavor and variety. You’ll find all the Vietnamese staples like pho, bánh xèo, and bún bò Huế. The veggies were fresh and clean, and the seafood seemed fresh as well. For a buffet, this place is solid and definitely worth the price. The restaurant itself is huge, and there’s plenty of parking.

Google
Definitely one of my favorite restaurant for date night, blessed reunion, family feast, fun gatherings, birthdays, weddings & fundraising events... delicious food, quality ingredients, great services, friendly staff, kid friendly & a gem for Texas Foodies & Travelers for delicious crawfish (in season only & while supplies last) with authentic Vietnamese food, Chinese food, dessert bar, sushi bar & street food. They also have AYCE Dim Sum from 11 am - 3 pm. For dinner & crawfish, the lines are long & wait time can be up to 1.5 hr during crawfish season but it's worth it for the delicious crawfish & dinner buffet selection. If you arrive early or around 4:30 pm, there's little to no wait time. Crawfish serves at 5 pm & grilled oysters around 6:30 pm. They are closed on Tuesdays. Extra blessings are the gorgeous backdrops for priceless memories during the holidays. We're blessed to travel the world & this is by far is my #1 place for crawfish, grilled oysters & authentic Vietnamese food. My mom was a dear friend to Mama La & had all of our wedding receptions at the Kim Son Banquet Halls. Kim Son is a Vietnamese-American family business with a heart that supports many non-profits like my small non-profit, Living & Giving Foundation, to achieve blessed giving missions in our communities to make a difference in scholarships & help families, students, veterans, orphans & the homeless in need in America & around the world. I definitely recommend Kim Son Restaurant for weddings, fundraising & if you're visiting Houston during crawfish season!! Plan your travel or weekend feast/reunion in late Feb, March or early April so you can enjoy perfectly seasoned crawfish & this delicious gem! Enjoy!!

Kim Son is a great spot when you're craving a variety of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes all in one place. The restaurant is clean, well-managed, and the staff is attentive — they clear plates quickly to keep the table tidy. The noodle soups might not be as rich as specialty pho restaurants, but they offer plenty of condiments to adjust the flavor. Their grilled street food selections are tasty, and the dim sum at lunch is pretty good too. The dessert section is decent, with some fruit options as well. Overall, it’s a solid buffet experience with good value, especially if you come for dinner when they also serve seafood. Worth a visit!

If you’re looking for a fantastic Vietnamese and Chinese buffet experience, this two-floor restaurant is a must-visit. As you walk in, you’ll find the main dining area downstairs, but the real feast awaits upstairs, where the buffet is located. The food is exceptionally fresh, beautifully presented, and well-served. The golden, crispy egg rolls are a standout, offering the perfect crunch with every bite. The dim sum selection is impressive, with a wide variety of freshly made options that will satisfy any craving. One of the highlights is the made-to-order pho noodle station, where you can customize your bowl just the way you like it. And don’t forget to save room for dessert! The sweet treats are absolutely delightful and will end your meal on a high note. Whether you’re a fan of Vietnamese or Chinese cuisine, this buffet delivers quality, variety, and an enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommended!

Google
This place is a complete rip-off,charging top dollar for low-quality food, not to mention there’s a 2-hr limit on dinning. The menu is overloaded with greasy, deep-fried stuff, barely a step above fast food like Panda Express. It’s easily one of the worst all-you-can-eat options in the area, far inferior to competitors within a 20-mile radius. An absolute waste of money what’s supposed to be a family friendly buffet experience. Avoid at all costs!

Google
I saw video of Kim Son on YouTube and was incredulous about the quality of buffet food. As a very picky eater and a critical food reviewer I must say that Kim Son delivered on quality and value. $32 for a buffet is fair. I tried 3 soups and they were all good. The desserts were very good. Dim sum was decent. I didn’t try everything like clams and snail because they weren’t for my taste. Service was great. There were non Vietnamese items too. Will definitely return. We arrived 15 minutes before opening on Saturday and by noon it was almost full. So arrived around 11:30 if you want to avoid waiting.

Yelp
Definitely worth trying once! We went during lunch so I didn't get the oyster and roast beef that was featured on the website. But during lunch they offered dim sum, weird because on the weekend it's all the same price for lunch and dinner. I don't think there was really anything that wow's me. The pho was the best pho I've had at a buffet. The selection of food isn't as big, but a good variety. The staff were very kind, attentive and very knowledgeable. The location is decently big, we had a party of 9 and were comfortably seated. It definitely seems like it gets busy. Luckily when we went, we didn't have to wait. We went on a Saturday afternoon. Overall it's worth trying, but probably won't return.

Yelp
There's been some changes to Kim Son since I last came. 1) People serve you the food which I don't mind too much for sanitary reasons but I can imagine it can get busy and 2) it seemed to be more Chinese food than Vietnamese food. You can still get a good number of dishes including street food and made to order food at the soup station. Servers were attentive and kind. We got there at 5pm right when it opened and were seated right away with no issue.

Yelp
I was so excited to try Kim Son buffet when we were in town for the weekend, but unfortunately this place is just hyped from Tik Tok. The service was quick, the little Vietnamese aunties took care of us as well. The food was decent, but not amazing. There is plenty of parking in the lot, and when you walk in, you walk up a staircase and the buffet is on the second floor. The seating area is so large, it makes the buffet area tiny. There was a selection of Vietnamese food, but I also felt like there was more Chinese food than Vietnamese food. I also didn't like that people serve you the food. It defeats the purpose of a buffet. For the authentic taste, I felt like there was always something missing in the dish. I came to the conclusion that you have to go in there with an open mind that it's a buffet and not a restaurant that specializes in a specific dish. I'd go again if my parents ever came to Houston with me, but it's not a MUST go in my opinion.

Yelp
My friend brought me to this Vietnamese Buffet! It was delicious I love Vietnamese food and this place gave me a chance to sample a variety of food, soup, and dessert! I definitely enjoyed this experience! I will come back and recommend this place. The food was really good. Everything I tried was good! I wish I had more space in my tummy to try more but I got full after all the food I ate. There was also quality in the food as the crawfish were the biggest I've seen and delicious! Try the soups! They are all good as well! This is a really good price for (2) dinner buffets at $68.20 without tip. We beat the crowd on a Wednesday at 6pm.

Yelp
A Vietnamese food buffet?! Never heard of such a thing till I saw this in Houston! It was a must for my wife and I to try! It's about $30 a person. You can try a sample of all the viet foods. The food itself wasn't too bad. I do like they have some seafood like clams and snails. The choice of Vietnamese dessert was good too! I would recommend trying it when you go to Houston! Service was okay. Lots of parking here!

Yelp
THE BIG: Located in Chinatown (aka Bellaire) of Houston. Big indoor space that generally has a wait. Parking is in the lot and it's always full with other vendors around. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here with a few friends and the wife on our Houston Rodeo trip. I heard about Kim Son through my vietnamese friend who said you must eat here when you're in Houston. Lo behold, she did not disappoint! There's tons of stations around although the line situation could've been better. People were cutting in and out. The service was great. My favorite was the vietnamese noodle dishes and of course it would'nt be an asian buffet without the chinese section. The Dim Sum area is next level! THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the AYCE was around $25 pp! Very affordable and actually delicious mass vietnamese cuisine. I will be back again!

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kim Son Buffet in Houston, Texas, and it was a fantastic experience. The variety and quality of the food were outstanding, offering a wide range of dishes that catered to diverse tastes. The selection included an impressive array of traditional Vietnamese dishes, as well as other Asian and American options. The ambiance of the restaurant was welcoming and spacious, making it an ideal spot for both small and large groups. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that the buffet was always well-stocked and the dining area clean and comfortable. Overall, Kim Son Buffet provides an excellent dining experience with its wide variety of high-quality dishes and inviting atmosphere. It's a great place to enjoy a meal with family and friends, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a satisfying buffet experience in Houston.

Yelp
This is one of my parents' favorite places to dine-in when visiting me in Houston and is popular among many elders within the Asian community due to the authentic Vietnamese food that is AYCE. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was extremely busy. Wait times can be long but reservations can be made for large parties. I had the opportunity to sit in the reservation section of the restaurant today and it is fairly large, but the tables were close to one another so it was difficult to maneuver in and out to get food and sit down again. This is a similar experience I've had being seated in the general dine-in tables; however, the restaurant itself is very spacious. Despite the number of guests, the servers moved the lines fairly quickly to give everyone the foods they desired. Our server was very attentive and never allowed many empty plates stacked on our table, which I appreciated since the plates built up quickly with all of my family. I liked that there is a large variety of food to suit many different preferences such as the noodle station, side dishes, dimsum, sushi, drinks and desserts. My personal favorites were the bun bo hue, banh beo, siu mai, har gau, the shrimp cheong fun, and sugar cane drink. All the food was delicious and I was very stuffed after my meal, but I just wish the siu mai and har gau were a bit warmer. Furthermore, the plates are a bit smaller so you can't fit too much food in one round so I had to get up multiple times for food. I also would recommend going on the weekends even though the price is more expensive since the selection will be way better than during the weekdays. I have gone during the weekday and the selections are more limited, but there are still great home-cooked side dishes. The parking can be difficult to find nearby due to the plaza in general, but spaces are available if you are willing to walk a bit.

Yelp
I've been eating at Kim Son for 25 years and it's been a long time since I've had the buffet as I don't live in Houston anymore. The selection is enormous and has desserts, street food station, seafood, noodle station, lots of stir fry, fried chicken, duck, sushi, teas, and just about everything you could want. I opted for lots of seafood including crawfish and snails- loved the garlic butter sauce. It was super crowded on a Saturday night so they were constantly bringing out and replacing food items.. somehow though much of what I ate was room temp (hence the 4 stars). It was bustling inside and lots of families enjoying the large selections.
google avatar

Henry T.

Yelp
Came for lunch and was very surprised it wasn't too busy (Thursday). The selection could have definitely been a bit better but for what it's worth the food was still pretty good overall. Lunch price was $20pp and I would say it was pretty worth it. Favorite items were the vermicelli noodle station and their bun Bo hue, both surprisingly very tasty! Also loved their unlimited dessert station as well. I will definitely come back to try their dinner menu!

Yelp
Extremely busy, lunch time wait was one hour+ for us. I understand the hype, but the selection of dishes on the day we went was kinda mid...There were some winners but also some options I would rather not touch again. Perhaps a visit when better options are out would be worth a second shot. Tips: Join the waitlist ahead of time to avoid the long wait

Yelp
We came here for the dim sum buffet on a Monday for lunch - 4 of us. The place was packed and there were way too many people in the restaurant to even enjoy a lunch/meal. There was no "line" or process to getting food - everyone was cutting and pushing to get food. They should make it self serve instead of people serving food behind the counters. It slows down the process. The ambiance.... loud and packed. The tables were sticky and right behind you another table was sat - you can't even stretch or push your chair out too far without hitting the table behind you. The experience was not enjoyable. The food was decent but we were unable to truly enjoy as there was just way too many people. Extremely crowded. We were charged $30 a person for a holiday lunch on weekday.... not worth it.

Yelp
Holy shit, people weren't lying when they say that everything is bigger in Texas. This restaurant is massive, what kind of buffet has a designated area reserved for valet parking? What type of person needs their car valet to attend a buffet? LOL. I was very excited to try my first Vietnamese buffet, didn't even know there was such a thing, but we're in Houston where it contains one of the largest Vietnamese population in the states. There's a variety of food; a street food station, dessert station, and noodle soup station. There's no need to order drinks since you can get a sugarcane or thai iced tea drink from the dessert station. The portions for the noodle soup station was just right, just so you can have room to sample more things. At the end of the day, it's still a buffet so it's buffet quality, but for $30 a person for AYCE, I can't complain with the value. Tell me about your experience if you've been here or is going to after reading this review:)
google avatar

Yelp
For a place that looks as if they were top-tier, I was severely underwhelmed. The food here was mediocre. I didn't like that they had people serving you instead of self-service like a typical buffet. It clogged up certain food areas making you wait so long just to get something you want. I also had 5 servers stand behind my table and would just stare at me as I walked back and forth from getting my food to sitting down. What's that all about?
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
This is so unheard of....AYCE Vietnamese food??? THIS IS MY HEAVEN. This is literally every Vietnamese cuisine lover's dream. I could of stayed here the whole day if my stomach space allowed for it. Any Vietnamese dish/dessert you could think of, they had it and it was amazing. For the price they charge, it was so worth it and affordable, especially at lunch. I'm just so amazed by the options you could choose from. Coming from Hawaii, we typically have the basic pho, bun bo hue, banh mis, etc....idk why it's so hard to find particular dishes like banh cuon, banh khot, bot chien in restaurants. This is why I love coming to the mainland for Vietnamese food because they have it all. They even have AYCD Sugar Cane Juice -- need I say more? If you're ever in Houston, this is a must visit!!!
google avatar

Maria G.

Yelp
This place is gods dream. I stuffed myself until I couldn't any longer. The amount of choices at this place is amazing. I am a girl who loves sampling and this was a wonderland to me. I tried things I've never tried before and things I have. Just like any other buffet, some things are tastier than others. The fun in this place is figuring out what pleases your tastebuds and what doesn't. If anyone wants to be introduced to Vietnamese culture this is a perfect place to start. Don't be scared to be adventurous, staff is super kind and inviting!
google avatar

Tippy P.

Yelp
First Vietnamese buffet and it was delicious! Noodles soup, street foods, seafood, sushi, and dessert. There is someone behind the glass to serve the food onto your plate and another server to clear out the table. Restaurant is bigger than I thought, entire upstairs is the restaurant and banquet rooms. Elegant stairs on both sides upon entry.
google avatar

Quang B.

Yelp
Great go to for Asian buffet with a variety of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes. Wait can be long during events or weekends. Food was alright but here for the variety for when family are in town. Recommend for a choice of buffet when going out.
google avatar

Juliana C.

Yelp
Almost an hour wait during Saturday for a table of 6. Our waiter(s) made sure that our table had enough napkins at all times and that our water glass was always full plus they made sure that our finished plates were taken away in a timely manner so the dishes didn't stack up on the table. This time around we did not get a plate of crab but there was crawfish available. Overall still a very unique buffet place.
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
A viet food buffet?? Say less. Visiting Houston from So Cal and KNEW this was on our list. We came on a wed night around 6 and there was no wait, but it was pretty busy. Theres a few sections: - Noodles: has tons of soups and noodles! Was sad there was no banh canh cua, only tom thit. had all the usual noodle/soup dishes and they are made to order - Grill station: this is where there's some street food items, i saw chicken feet, quail eggs (?), grilled shrimp, la lot (v good), and other items - Steamed area: this had the banh beo, and other seemed rice dishes with coconut sauce. i loved the coconut sauce!! They also had banh tom and banh xeo here too, both super good and came with the right amount of rau - Middle area: had a ton of stir fried foods and proteins - SEAFOOD: you have to ask your waiter for them. They bring out a HUGE tray of cooked crawfish, already seasoned and super tasty. - Dessert: omg....i was in heaven. Mostly diff types of che but also UNLIMITED NUOC MIA. - Nuoc mam: I have to make a separate section for this because I was so impressed with the nuoc mam!! It was so tasty, even better than a ton of restaurants I been to Basically you gotta come here yourself. I can't say the food was way better than a restaurant that specializes in a certain dish, but for everything in one place, it was super good and impressive. This is the ONLY viet buffet i know of in the US, if you can, DEF GO. Price was also very reasonable, about 30 for dinner and 20 for lunch.
google avatar

Chloe C.

Yelp
Service was great. Our server was very attentive and refilled our drinks without us asking. Food was great for buffet style. Quality was one of the best I've had. Only disappointing thing was no seafood besides shrimp skewers (deep fried and grilled). I only learned crawfish is only on Fridays after arriving. Noodle station was pretty good! Restaurant very roomy, perfect for big and small groups.
google avatar

Yelp
My friends and I got here around 6 pm and said wait was 45 minutes. I think it took them only 30 mins before we were called. The waiter greeted and seated us down right away. The place was pack with people on all the tables. This is an Asian buffet that serves 7 types of noodles, Vietnamese crepe (Banh xeo), fried shrimps, duck, Vietnamese salad, yellow chicken with ginger sauce, broccoli & beef, sauté chicken, mussels, clams, 3 color Vietnamese desert, Thai tea, sugar cane drink, green coconut dessert, and taro dessert. It was crawfish night so they pass out crawfish to each table and you can ask for more too. We end up getting 2 plates of it. I tried a little bit of everything such as shrimp and pork noodles. It had flavor and decent. 8/10. The Vietnamese crepe (Banh xeo) was good too but could have been a little more flavorful. It was crispy so that was good. 7/10. The sautéed mussels and yellow chicken with ginger sauce was good too. 8/10. The Thai tea, sugar drink was a little water down. But still drinkable. The 3 color dessert was good. It was $31.50 each adult. Not bad for the price of buffet. Would I come back here again? Yes I would to try the dishes I didn't get to try.

Yelp
It was my first time at a Vietnamese buffet and I did not have high expectations but boy was I blown away! From start to finish I have no complaints. You walk into a gorgeous grand entryway, was seated quickly as I came right at 5pm when they opened for dinner during the week (but have heard there may be long wait times on the weekend) The amount of options here and for such a reasonable price point! Dinner was around ~$30. Enjoyed trying various street foods and they even have a soup station. Buffet stations are well organized and everything is clean. There are people that serve you the food which is interesting for a buffet but I didn't mind that
google avatar

Nevalyn N.

Yelp
My family and I came here on a Friday evening. They opened at 5 pm for dinner. We arrived a little before 5:30 but it was incredibly packed. We had to wait for another 45-50 minutes for our table. Overall, the food is mediocre. Nothing was special. They have lots of varieties of vietnamese food. Unlimited serving for crawfish, but the crawfish was hard to pick out, the seasoning was quite bland, lots of garlic. They also have a noodles soup bar which I think is one of the better food they served, (chao long and banh canh was good) The dessert bar was decent as well. The che ba mau and sugarcane drink was the better option. I don't recommend eating the sushi since it's been sitting out for awhile. No one really eats it. It was the worst sushi I've eaten since it was hard and not fresh. I also dislike the fact that you can't grab the food yourself but has someone else serve it to you. Service was quick, there are lots of employees to help you out with whatever you need. Definitely a good place to try out if you want to know different Vietnamese cuisines.
google avatar

Vicky N.

Yelp
First restaurant in Texas and we were recommended to try this place. I didn't realize that it would be buffet style. It seemed grand and it even had stairs and elevator to go up. On the weekend, the price pp was $32. There is so much Vietnamese food here! Some foods are harder to make and are usually found in restaurants like banh beo, Viet soups like mien ga, and jello desserts! There was also sugarcane juice (not the freshest). I think if you don't usually eat Vietnamese cuisine, this place would be for you. However as I am Vietnamese and live in a Vietnamese city I could find these dishes for cheaper. Service was good, one of our main servers was on top of cleaning our table. Most of workers were not Vietnamese but honestly you can just point and say your "please" and "thank you"'s and that's all you need! This place was crowded so there's definitely a huge following for the foods here. Personally I just don't think the value is worth what we ate. Definitely a cool experience as OC is full of Chinese buffets so a Viet buffet was really awesome!
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
The food is good and instead of servicing yourself, other people will give you what you want in items. There are also three different sections. One is for food of dim sum, fried, noodles etc and another station has pho noodles and the last station does vermicelli bowls in which you can pick which toppings you want.
google avatar

Jonathan K.

Yelp
Came here with my wife on a Thursday lunch and waited about 5 minutes to be seated which wasn't too bad. It was surprisingly pretty packed when we came and it got relatively loud. At the time of writing this the lunch buffet was $20 for weekday and for a buffet that's a great deal! Most of the food served was either Vietnamese street food or typical Chinese buffet staples. I especially loved the grilled meats section of the buffet as well as all of the noodle soups available. The noodle soups are portioned pretty small so it's nice to try a whole bunch of different ones. They don't skimp out on toppings or things like that so they tasted great. Would come again for the unique experience!

Yelp
The Vietnamese buffet offered a delightful culinary journey with its vibrant array of dishes. From aromatic noodle dishes and fresh spring rolls to flavorful street food selection, each item showcased authentic flavors. The diverse selection of herbs and condiments allowed for personal customization, enhancing the overall dining experience. It a must-visit for those seeking an immersive taste of Vietnamese cuisine. Although it can be a little hectic be prepared to wait for a seat. Seating can be a little cramped but it just means it's a popular place to dine. Definitely a place to visit for a variety of Vietnamese cuisine from different regions.

Yelp
Kim son was the spot to go to when I was a kid but now the food isn't all that anymore. But hey, I can't expect much from a buffet. Our group of ten came here on a busy Saturday but we were seated very quickly. Once seated our server came out with water & after that we got right in line for a feast. I will say that there's a lot to pick from. You have your Chinese/Viet station, street food station, dessert station & soup station. I was able to do 3 rounds of food because I was hungry but most of the items I've tried were pretty lackluster. Honestly the only thing that stood out was their banh uot & their dessert. I can understand why the line at the dessert station is always long, they have a variety of them & it's not half bad. I tried two of their soups, mi bo kho & bun bo hue & both were a disappointment. Both of the broth tasted bland & boring. The broth on the mi bo kho was too thick for my liking. They also brought out a blue crab platter, taste wise it was well seasoned. The only issue was that they didn't even have enough of those crab crackers & our table of 10 only received one. For dessert I got two rounds of their che trai cay, it's a pink dessert. It's quite refreshing for a hot day. Overall, the service was minimal, the food was just okay. For $30 I will say that it's not worth the drive & time. But if you like a buffet style, this place does deliver in terms of quantity of food. You will leave full but that's about it. Will I come back? I mean I've been coming here since I was a kid, so I don't mind coming back from time to time.

Yelp
I recently stopped by for Crawfish Boil Friday. The place gets packed, so arrive early if you don't want to wait on special days. During crab season, they have Crab Boils. On Sundays, they have dim sum. Since the pandemic, they have improved a lot. Servers serve you so you don't have to touch too many serving utensils. It's great for family gatherings b/c of the variety. I like that they offer sugarcane juice, Thai tea and sometimes a flavored tea at the drink/dessert stations. Save room for desserts bc the classic Vietnamese desserts are pretty good here. Overall, Kim Son is a tourist destination that anyone who likes Asian food should visit at least once. The food might not be the best you've ever had, but you can't beat the variety.

Yelp
Amazing vietnamese buffet for a really good price. Here you can try multiple varieties of their noodle soups, spring rolls, street food, as well as desserts. Make sure to come hungry as you will definitely be leaving super full. We arrived around 11:30 on a Thursday and were seated right away. Although this is a buffet, all dishes are served by a worker from behind a plastic barrier for hygiene purposes. But there was hardly ever a wait, and the overall process was quite fast. Even the removal of dirty dishes from your table was exceptionally fast, as there were workers walking by constantly picking up the dishes. Had a great experience and staff were very friendly. Definitely worth it if you are interested in trying their wide selection of food. My favorite had to be their curry chicken, which was so creamy and full of flavor. They also gave you bread to dip in the curry, which picked up all the rich flavor that left you wanting more.

Yelp
Kim Son has been in Houston for forever. I believe they're at 3 locations now: Bellaire, Stafford, and Downtown. They're also known for their banquet halls and catering. We went to Kim Son on a Sunday, around 2pm. Parking was a little hard to find but there's space around the back. Pros +Variety of dishes, Vietnamese, Chinese, dim sum, and sushi +An okay selection of dessert, some are pretty tasty! +Grilled and some make-to-order dishes +Lines move quick +$29.5 is decent for AYCE Cons -Typical buffet problems: if it didn't just come out, it'll get cold/stale quick. RIP the dim sum. -The pork spare ribs NEVER got refilled. -Sushi is grocery store quality Kim Son is great for entertaining people from out of town, or your non-Asian friends. But I'd rather get made-to-order food from the specialty stores all around Chinatown, especially the dim sum (it feels so bad to eat cold dim sum). When you have AYCE Korean BBQ, hotspot, sushi elsewhere, Kim Son doesn't quite match that value imo.

Yelp
Love Kim Son! Went for lunch on a Friday and maybe not surprisingly, it was packed! But the food was delicious! They've really improved the process and they have staff wearing masks, serving food behind each station. It's great! Their dessert area is great! Everything is covered and you just tell them what you want, if you want sauce on it (coconut milk), and go on your way. They also have a Saigon street food section with someone making fresh grilled meat and things. And a fruit area near desserts. They have kid-friendly fried foods in case you have a picky eater who only eats fried chicken and fries. They also had stir fry, fried rice, sticky rice with grilled chicken, crawfish, caramel over shrimp. Lots of possibilities! If you haven't been you've got to go and try it!

Yelp
WOW!!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! The food was fresh and well made in spite of the fact that it is a buffet. So many choices and the dishes did represent the flavor of Vietnamese food. The ultimate best part was the unlimited fresh sugarcane juice!!!! It was heavenly!!!! I appreciate the food was served by someone behind the protected acrylic glass. This restaurant is by far the most hygienic and clean place I have ever experienced for a buffet setting. The floor was constantly swept, and there were staff in the bathroom to maintain cleanliness!!!! The lunch buffet is $32 plus tax, I don't think I can eat at any other place with this amazing spread of food for such a fee. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! Thank you Kim Som for setting the bar of excellence! Happy eating!!!

Yelp
I am so shook that this place doesn't have a higher rating because wow what an experience it was!!! We drove from Austin just to come eat here and it did not disappoint. Being a Vietnamese person myself, I finally found myself at home eating so much home-cooked food and bringing back all of the nostalgia. Everything tasted so freshly made, so flavorful, honestly better than tons of other restaurant food I've had. Not to mention this place is a BUFFET which I feel like most buffets have poorer quality food overall since it's so focused on quantity but this place had such quality food that I kept asking myself - "THIS IS A BUFFET???". This place is huge but I can tell it must be always busy. We came on an early Friday afternoon generally when you assume a lot of people are working or in school but nope, this place was so filled and bustling with people. They are very organized though and they have great staff to take you through all of the steps, from the front hostess stand all the way to the waiters at your table, all the staff at each of the stations serving you the food directly and all of the people in between to keep the place clean and efficient. They've got a noodle station with allll of your favorite noodle dishes (which also was my favorite station), followed by a street food station with all your fave fried street appetizers that you find at typical Vietnamese parties, and then station with freshly made flat rice dishes (think banh cuon, banh uot, banh beo, and other banh). They've got the classic canh chua and thit kho next to your other most popular Viet dinner dishes. To top all of that off, they've got dim sum!!!! A side dedicated to Vietnamese food and the other side dedicated to Chinese food, seriously what more could you ask for. The most popular chinese dishes such as general tso chicken, eggplant, steamed fish, veggies, egg rolls, dim sum, omg they have it all. If you even have any room after all of this, they've got unlimited sugar cane, thai tea, and a dessert station that is decked out with all the best. The price for all of this was SO CHEAP, I literally could not believe the bill when it came out. It came out to about $25 a person and I am so blown because that's easily how much you spend on 1-2 dishes at any other Vietnamese place and this was AYCE. I've already started thinking about the next time I can visit this place and will gladly drive hours out of my way just to visit this spot. Kim Son you are simply the best!!!!

Yelp
What brought me to Houston is because of Kim son. I never thought of coming here for the foodie scene. Righr after paris trip back in September 2023, I figure I browse southwest and I bought all the tickets for Florida, houston, and Oregon lol. . So I scored a cheap ticket on southwest and I stuck with it. . Ok now when I landed around 3 pm and after getting the rental car and it was time to go find food. I google mapped the directions and kim son is 1 hr away with traffic. I'm like perfect by the time I get there is when dinner starts which is 5pm. . When I arrived the building is huge. When I opened the door to enter the building it was blasted with decor for chinese new year which is really extra and festive. I really loved it. I was wearing yellow which was perfect match with the decoration. . I went upstairs to meet the host and got my number for when they open they call numbers to seat the party. I was called 2nd when It was 5pm. . It was time to take the videos and pics because I didn't know what to expect. . I went to the pho broth and they made 10 different ones. I settled with the crab meat tapioca noodles like udon in a thick broth. It was really good and temperature was good too. I also got one rice noodle dish and he told me to get what sauce to pair with it at the Condiment bar. . Then I went to get the grilled oysters which were not cook all the way it was still a little raw but they were in a rush. The flavor to the oyster was viet style for sure. . The pork sausage skewers were amazing. The shrimp skewer was good too. . I had hainese chicken and the chicken was fresh and they had onion ginger scallion sauce to dip in. Loved it. . They had some tilapia fish with garlic and Thai chili and I enjoyed this alot and went for second and thirds. . They had clam stir fry in viet style. I wasn't a fan of this, the flavor wasn't my favorite. The steam snail was fresh and they had some sauce for you to dip in which remind me of thai chili. . I loved the viet style mochi with dried shrimp in it. Loved the bannana lead with tapioca and dried shrimp in it. It was all so fresh and quality. I loved how it was like ordering it at a resto quality. . FRESH SUGAR CANE JUICE - OMG COULDNT HELP IT AND HAD 3 CUPS, SO ORGANIC! . Loved the viet desserts but was so full I can't eat anymore. The dessert bar was overwhelming all the ones I had they were all good. . This place is great for beginners to explore vietnamese food. Or people who like viet food and wants a variety. I loved how each item I had was quality. They really make sure each dish is fresh. . Get here early to avoid the crowd. Or else you will wait. The price point for a Friday dinner was only 34 bucks. Such a good deal to try so many items and experience this. I would definitely come back in the future. . Overall it's great quality buffet. I really enjoyed my experience during chinese new year. Hope this helps and thanks for reading. Have a yelptastic day!

Yelp
It's wild to find Kim Son with anything less than five stars, because all I can keep thinking about is the food I enjoyed during my visit for lunch today. Situated within the plaza heavily dominated by Vietnamese cuisine and shops, Kim Son stands large as an anchor in the shopping center. This two story goliath of an entity is home to not only the only Vietnamese buffet in America (from what I was told), but it hosts a dim sum and a venue space. Being able to visit right before Lunar New Year, Kim Son went all out with the lobby and entrance with the decor. The details and intricacy had me in awe. Take the time to walk around and get lost with the sights. We got there around 11am and there was a decent crowd there, we grabbed a number and waited for our table to be called. Once it was our turn we were able to choose a table and build camp. This place is so well organized and a well oiled machine. I was in awe at their operations and kept focusing on how well they execute everything. The stations are all organized and broken by noodles, street food, fried food, desserts, proteins, and a few others. Staff here was super friendly and very attentive! The food was all served at the right temperature and nothing was cold or lukewarm if it was a hot item. I'm not ashamed to say I went up to get more food a few times lol. If you're ever in Houston, make it a point to come to this location!

Yelp
The food is pretty top quality and tasty for a buffet. Especially worth it at the lunch price $20. The street food section was probably my favorite, they cook it right in front of you and some of it on skewers. The selection of food is a little lacking but still worth coming

Yelp
I have never been to a buffet quite like this. What stands put immediately that it is all you can eat, but someone serves you the food you want that prevents that icky cross contamination. However, you have to tell the server to give you a little bit, because they will fill your plate to the brim, preventing you from trying everything. It's practically a trap! All of the items were unique and interesting. I didn't love everything, but I felt I tried food I would have never given a chance before. Crowd was mostly from the area. You stand out if you're not use to the food and layout, but not in a bad way. Pro tip...speak in Spanish. Those ladies hooked me up with the info I needed to make tasty decisions. It's a definitive recommend for those who love Asian buffets.

Yelp
They definitely have a lot to offer if you enjoy Vietnamese & Chinese cuisine. Have soup station, street food, various types of desserts, seafood etc. I went specifically for the seafood lol. The platter that I took a picture of has to be requested and brought out by your server FYI if you're wondering. They get pretty busy on the weekends so do expect a wait. Overall wonderful experience and staff were super friendly. Will definitely come back in the near future.

Yelp
Kim Son's reputation as a Vietnamese buffet destination is already wide spread. I first heard about it through YouTubers that documented their pilgrimages for all you can eat soups and Viet street food. So instead of rehashing what they and many other Yelpers have written I am here to say it deserves all the praise it's earned. I visited for dinner on a Monday night and had no problem getting in. There is a wide variety of Vietnamese and American Chinese cuisine. Yes the noodle bar is a must-try! For me it was a great experience to try different types of Vietnamese food in a AYCE setting. Don't think twice, just go- especially if you can outside the weekend rush.

Yelp
Since our visit two years ago, most of the menus have changed. They now have dim sum dishes, nem nướng (grilled pork cake), nước mía (pressed sugar cane juice) and much more. We are so impressed and planned to visit again tomorrow before leaving Houston.

Yelp
My niece suggested we go here and eat ourselves into a food coma. It's a joke that we say, but this time we did. We couldn't help it; this was our first time here, and the food was being cooked on the spot; it was nice and warm; everything we ate was top-notch. I can honestly say that every dish had its own flavor, and we didn't need a knife to cut the meat because it was so tender. So, we kept eating until we were stuffed and rolling around in our chairs. To go back a little, my niece found Kim Son Restaurant on social media, and the girl on social media did a great job of showing the place. But I would say go here after a two-day fast of not eating because there are so many choices. They have the noodle station, and I got in that line three times. The food is made on order; I got the Vietnamese spicy beef bowl, the beef noodle soup, and the dry egg noodle rice with shrimp and pork. Then I moved on to station number two and that's the Vietnamese Street food, which I enjoyed a few times, too. The other stations are the fried fish, shrimp, and sushi, which are yummy. Then, there is a large food station in the middle with oysters, squid, duck, veggies, baked fish, dim sum, and more. Another thing to note: this place is humongous inside and beautiful, with the staircase leading up to the top floor and the chandeliers are pretty. But what I wanted to say is because the place is huge, we didn't have to wait long to be seated. Also, the parking lot is huge, but they do offer valet!

Yelp
Kim son used to be so good! Recently went and the quality of the food was almost cold , the people serving the food seemed to be bored and no energy, and I read the review about how they were serving more Chinese/american cuisine and I didn't think it was true but this visit it was ! Bring back the QUALITY VIETNAMESE CUISINES! For the price it wasn't worth it anymore... won't be back until they make changes..

Yelp
A must try! Huge buffet featuring literally every Vietnamese dish you can think of from appetizers to entrees to desserts. Must come hungry!

Yelp
Service is extremely slow here, our server visited our table twice. Did not fill up on water at all, we had a full party of atleast 10 people. The food is very mid. They used to be OK, as being the only vietnamese buffet in the world. I think this has to change and I need to open one here in Chicago Uptown. The food is handed to you when you go to the buffet tables. There's one staff member at each food selection. They hand you the food with their amount that they scoop. Kinda weird considering I went after covid. The only thing I enjoyed here was the Banh Beo. I probably cleared out the whole lunch shift.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant on a crowded Saturday, likely because it was the day before Father's Day, resulting in a wait of about an hour. Food: The food had its ups and downs. While some dishes were good, others were served cold. I tried several plates, but I only took pictures of a few. I remember it tasting better on a previous visit, but I suspect it was due to the high volume of customers. It would have been more enjoyable if the dishes were served warm or hot. However, I noticed there was less variety of food compared to my last visit. Nevertheless, it remains one of the better Vietnamese buffets I have tried in Houston. 7/10 Service: The server assigned to our table was friendly and checked on us frequently. I had no complaints about the service. 10/10

Yelp
I've never been to a Vietnamese buffet before but I was blown away that one existed in Houston, Texas. This became a must-visit spot during my trip. There was a huge variety of foods to choose from including soups, grilled meats, classic foods like noodles and fried rice, sushi, and traditional Vietnamese foods. The dessert selection consisted of a lot of che, not many fruits compared to Chinese buffets and no ice cream, but I loved the che they had. They even had crawfish that people were eating by the bucket! I won't say it's the best Vietnamese food I've ever had, but for a buffet, it had a wide range of Vietnamese food at an AYCE price. The buffet is also super clean and sanitary because the workers give you all the food instead of people serving themselves. Definitely give this place a try if you're in Houston!

Yelp
Favorite buffet spot. Everything is so wonderful. I've had the lunch and dinner options and both are absolutely worth the price. I love that they serve you so cleanliness is important. The servers are always attentive and on it to provide great service. All the food is easily labeled to determine what is being served.
