Yelp
**LONG DETAILED REVIEW**
First off, according to Google this is a 4-star hotel. There is absolutely no way that this is actually a 4-star hotel (will explain below). Also, I want to say that I had read almost every review for this hotel on both Tripadvisor & Yelp prior to booking. I saw a fair amount of negative reviews and thought those people were just exaggerating or had one-off negative experiences. Unfortunately, now that I have stayed at the hotel, I have to confirm that a lot of those negative reviews are true.
**CONS**
1. Hotel room photos are not accurate.
The photos of the hotel you see on their website are for their main & newer building built in 2018. Unfortunately, there is a very high chance you will not be staying in their newer building as they have 2 other older buildings built in the 1930's right next to their newer building that they will most likely put you in (especially if you did not book directly through them or are not a loyalty member). When I first checked in, they told me I was going to be staying in their neighboring building that was older. No big deal, they told me that it was remodeled yearly so I expected equal quality amongst all their rooms. However, when the security guard walked us over to the next door building, I was shocked. First, I had to enter through their hotel restaurant front door and take a tiny elevator in the middle of the restaurant to go to the room. When I got to the hallway, there were huge bags of trash in the corner. Worst of all, when I got to the room, I noticed that the room looked nothing like their photos. The layout was completely different and the interior of the room was very old and dated. There were also stains on the rug! I ended up asking the front desk to move us to a different room due to the noisiness of the current room which was overlooking the hotel restaurant's back patio. Which leads to the 2nd point.
2. Hotel is so dirty.
The front desk was kind enough to switch us to another more quiet room, however this room was also in another older building. When we got to the 2nd room, we instantly noticed how disgusting and dirty the room was. The room smelled of urine, not sure if it was the couch/rug but I actually think it was the vent that was pushing out smelly air. I febreezed the couch & rug and it still smelled like urine. There was so much dirt/dust/grime everywhere. I had to wipe everything down with Lysol wipes and you can see my photos attached of the dirt the Lysol wipes picked up. Also there was a dusty cup stain on the nightstand, meaning they didn't even bother to wipe that down. It was VERY obvious that the room was barely cleaned/not cleaned at all. I have NEVER stayed in a hotel this dirty before, and considering this is a time during COVID, this is completely unacceptable. I ultimately complained to management about how dirty the room was and showed them my dirty Lysol wipes were and requested to be put into the newer building. Fortunately they were very accommodating and moved us into a room in the newer building. Our 3rd and final room was still a bit grimy, but better than the last 2 rooms so we just dealt with it. Lastly, I wanted to talk about how disgusting the elevators were. The elevators stink! I have no idea how elevators could smell so bad but every time we walked in they smelled so bad.
3. The valet service is sooo slow.
It can take anywhere from 10-30 minutes to get your car. Sometimes the valet person isn't even there when you show up and you're just waiting for them to come back so you can tell them to get your car. Once I called the front desk to ask the valet to get my car, and when I came down 15 min later I found the valet girl just standing around. She told me nobody had told her to get our car. If you're in a rush to get somewhere, you have to make sure you tell the valet FAR in advance to get your car.
4. Poor service/ hotel is short staffed.
Multiple times I asked for housekeeping at night (11pm or so) and was told that they don't have housekeeping at night so they have to wait for the security guard to be available so that he can deliver your blankets and pillows if requested at night lol. A few times they completely forgot about my request for blankets and I waited an hour before calling down to front desk again to check on my request. Also, often times there is only one person working the front desk for check in, meaning that you will often find yourself waiting a long time to get helped since there is only one person working.
5. Hotel is not secure.
Unlike most hotels nowadays, there is nothing that requires you to scan your key card to entire this hotel at night. Several of the rooms/buildings have open access to the public, meaning their stairwells up to the rooms are completely open/motel style where anybody from the street can just walk up and try to break into your room.
