"Vol 39 - the fancy cocktail bar inside the Kimpton Hotel - has reopened with a new menu. And they’re going old-timey with the theme of “1893 World Fair”. This means a bunch of classic cocktails, and drinks that correspond with different historical buildings around the city. So if you want your post-work drinking plans to make you feel like the Monopoly Man (a lazy Google search taught us his name is Rich Uncle Pennybags), come here." - adrian kane
"A stylish hotel option located in the heart of Chicago, ideal for a long weekend stay."
"Part of the fun and funky Kimpton family, the Kimpton Gray Hotel in the Loop has great value for style and location. Sleek platform beds and pendant lamps suggest mid-century modern, but the dark wooden armoire with the floral interior speak to a wilder streak. Upgrade to a Spa room, if you can, where the shower room—complete with a freestanding tub—is glassed-in and tiled in abstract designs. Outstanding bars here for whatever mood you're in. The lobby bar Vol. 39 has the leathery look and bookshelves of a law office given a romantic makeover, with low seating and flickering votives. On the top floor, hit Boleo when feeling high-energy (it has a nightclub vibe, but the Latin food is very good)." - Elaine Glusac, Nicole Schnitzler

"There are two events happening at the Kimpton Grey, and both of them are free. From now until August 8th there’s a pop-up seltzer bar (called The Selzer Shop) where you can sample a bunch of different hard seltzers in an old school soda shop-themed space. And until the end of August they’re hosting a Swedish photography exhibit called Fotografiska, which features the work of female photographers. Check their website for more information." - adrian kane
