Shell Out: Our Top Picks for Hokkien Prawn Noodles in Singapore

"Here's a spot for the night owls. Kim's Famous Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee stays open until 1am every night but they tend to sell out before so if you're looking to snag a bowl, pay them a visit before midnight. And fans of lard rejoice, for their plates of prawn noodles come with a generous sprinkling of crispy golden nuggets." - Alethea Tan

Ordered takeaway hokkien mee. Was expecting to order $6 one but the Indian male staff asked me if I wanted $8 or $10 so I guessed they just increased their pricing. But their menu poster still listed as $6? Anyway the food was ok and portion quite filling. But the attitude of the male staff was very rude.. black face and lazy to open his mouth to answer qns..

Went there for a 2024 National Day Promo, offering the 2 pax crab set A for $59. The lady convinced us to swap the Crispy Salted Egg Fish Skin in the set, for fried enoki mushrooms. We were hesitant but she was quite insistent, saying it was healthier for us. There is definitely a big difference between the price, but we just decided to accept her offer. Next, we were told to add an extra $20 on top of the price of the set, as the original price was not sufficient for any crab that was large enough. We were unhappy with the situation but just accepted it. This was especially scummy behavior as the crab that we received, was pretty small. In fact, the crab in the advertisement we saw for the $59 promo was much larger. Though, the crab was well cooked and tasty. Hokkien mee was the biggest disappointment. For a shop that specialises in Hokkien mee, it was absolutely tasteless. We have not tried this hokkien mee in the past, which is when people said it was really good so we are not making a comparison with what they used to be. But without any comparisons needed, this was one of the most bland hokkien mee i've ever had.

Even at non peak hour, it takes 10mins just for the person to get order. It was 10mins because we went out to call her because she wasn’t coming. Hokkien Mee is 2/10. Just taste msg. Overall service is quite poor. After finished eating the whole hokkien mee, the rest of the dishes haven’t come out at all.

A hokkien mee place that has been around for a very long time. So the place does look a bit rundown and in need of some refresh. It is the type of hokkien mee on a dryer side and is overall tasty.

Spend your money and time else where! Was last here more than a decade back, and never came back cos food was terrible. Just visited, and food is just as bad a decade later. Signature Hokkien Mee was tasteless, a waste of ingredients, effort, and calories. Air conditioned part of the restaurant has a bad smell that was “sou”, like seafood left out. Moving on to the 2 other dishes - egg omelette was also bad, I never knew egg can be done this badly. Tofu was probably the saving grace, but it’s a dense seafood tofu-like kind of tofu. Not quite what was expected. I’d give food zero-stars if I could. Will never return, even if this is the last Hokkien Mee stall left in Singapore.

the stall was mostly deserted in the early afternoon so it was peaceful. i ordered prawn mee ($6) and it was my first time trying so i dont have any basis of comparison but it tasted good. the food can be a little pricey but the portions are more than enough.

Air conditioned and spacious restaurant. The boss is very friendly and he fried the Hokkien himself. Food tastes much better after he took over the business

Dropped in for last minute late night supper. I think it was pretty good but my friend said that it’s rather different from before Read some good reviews about their black pepper crab, will come back to try another day :)
