A Northeast Side fixture since 2002, Kim’s Galbi pairs tabletop grills and robust banchan with a lighthouse landmark out front. MySA spotlighted its newer all-you-can-eat tiers, and locals praise the marinades and steady service.

Food & sides were delicious. The meats were well marinated and cut. Lots of food to go around. I especially liked the seafood pancake and the side dishes. Very flavorful. Would recommend. We did the all you can eat. We all went home stuffed and satisfied.

Been here multiple times. Food is great, service is good as well. Love that there are plenty of stoves for orders that offer cooking at your own table. The Korean BBQ is so freaking good, plenty of soju, great options for lunch & dinner, and big compliments on the Kimchi, not a lot of places are good but this place freaking rocks! I highly recommend it, one of the best in town, GET YOUR GRUB ON HERE!!!!

This was my first time trying Korean bbq and this place didn't disappoint. It was delicious! We thought about having the all-you-can-eat option but since they said we couldn't take anything home we went with the other option for three people. Piece of advice, just go with the all-you-can-eat option because it's that good! Service was excellent, they seemed to be very patient and even when the location was closed, they didn't rush us out. I have zero complaints about this place. Interested? Check them out, they are open 7 days a week! It's pricey but worth it. I want to go back already.

Google
This might be the best Korean food in town. All the food was savory and well balanced. Most places tend to make the chapjae too sweet, but not here! Here is was a perfectly balance of the chewy noodles, coated in a savory sauce with just the right hint of sweetness and fresh vegetables. The jajang myun was worthy of the moniker of “Korea’s favorite dish” and the pajeon while a little more fluffy than others, was served on a cast iron plate that kept it crisp and hot. The entire dish was chock full of an array of fresh vegetables enveloped by a flavorful and light batter with crisp edges. The banchan was okay with the kimchi itself being the star complement. The service was very ehn but overall worth many visits!

Google
It's really good.. u have a choice to cook your own meats.. it's a lot of food all you can eat.. but it must all go or you pay 20.00 for wasting food.. so don't eat anything before you go.. lol All above all. It was a good experience..🥰

Google
The best ! Everything even the sweet tea is good, so much better than those served at other restaurants, I can really taste the tea. Love that the Server was very attentive. Food was amazing ; tasted very good, good portions tasted fresh, great price ! Will definitely be back and will come more often :)

Google
We got the all you can eat. The meat is the best thing on the menu. Ramen is pretty good but too filling. Don’t recommend the rice, it will fill you up. Good bang for your buck as far as restaurant goes.

Google
It’s one of my favorite Korean restaurants in San Antonio! I have had only a few things from their menu so far but I want to keep going back! Their prices are great and they have lunch options too, super great atmosphere whether by yourself or with a group! They have so many great options to choose from, from personal plates to plates/options for the table. (I’ll update pictures for the next visit! Edit to fix: I meant “only a few options NOT limited options!! Definitely check them out)

Yelp
They've made a lot of improvements! Added new decorations and wall hangings. Different music. The music eminds me of a 70s movie restaurant scene. The service is always great and it's nice to speak their native tongue with some of the waitress. Something about the food seems different. It's still good, but not as flavorful as I remember from past visits, specially the meats and kimchi fried rice. It's still one of our favorite places to eat in and around San Antonio!

Yelp
First time visiting since they started offering all you can eat (AYCE). The restaurant looks the same as it did before. Service was good. There was a green onion on the floor that got stuck to my shoe. Their AYCE has 4 categories, which tripped us up. Banchan is also served and my husband didn't realize that he didn't have to order from the first step, so he compulsively ordered things. We were full before the meats came. This is brilliant. We ordered 4 appetizers, 2 soups, 4 meats, 0 premium meats. At that point we ate as much as we could and we were soon waddling out of the restaurant. I have a plan for next time. Favorite banchan was the cucumber and favorite meat was the squid. This is big improvement since the olden days where the meat were served together in one platter. Also the price is good for AYCE $28/pp dinner or $38/pp with premium meats.

Yelp
Yummy yum yummy! My favorite place!! Great Korean BBQ that uses mesquite briquets & not just gas. And all the yummy side dishes! Nom nom nom

Yelp
We haven't had Korean food in a while so we thought to visit Kim's Galbi for dinner. Diana was our server and she's from the Philippines so we talked about where we were from. Dad had Lemonade, Hubby had a Pina Colada, and I had a Tequila Sunrise. Dad and Hubby shared the Galbi Tang Soup. We all shared the Yakimandu, LA Galbi, and Japchae. All the food was delicious. Of course, we also enjoyed the ban chan/sides. It's no longer unlimited sides which was a bummer. We had leftover Japchae to take home.

Yelp
First time here and it was deliciously satisfying! We tried the appetizers; kimbob roll, Korean fried chicken and yaki mahndoo which were all delish! My entree was the combination fried rice which also came with a wonderfully made broccoli salad. Sorry no food pics but the after math tells it all.

Yelp
Well this was a very good Korean BBQ restaurant that my cousin and my 2nd eldest sister. For what you get of all the traditional food and being a they serve you all you can eat instead of going up to buffet was delicious. The bimbibop was traditional and delicious. The bulgogi was also good too traditional cooked which is a good thing. Ambience was typically traditional Korean BBQ ambiance. Service was a hit or miss because some stuff they remembered and some stuff they remembered to delivered. Anyways 4 stars out of 5 because of this.

Yelp
It was decent. My dish was good but that was about it. Service is lacking and the floors are very sticky Food: everything I ordered was good. The bbq short ribs weee good. The meat was low quality though. The eggs were good and the dumplings were good. The beef fried rice had no flavor. The Korean fried chicken was different. The service was slow. They didn't come back to check on our drinks. One dish came very late. The floors are sticky. This is a one and done for me. I will definitely not come back.

Yelp
we have dined at kim's on several occasions, it is an older restaurant, but i've noticed things being updated. we go for the korean bbq - our faves being beef bulgogi, pork belly and galbi. on our visit yesterday, we found new menus for a "course" meal, all you can eat as well as happy hour and bento boxes for lunch. at $32 we could get all our faves as well as had other choices open to us. you can pick up to 5 different meats to start. you also have choices for appetizer and soup. i should have paid more attention to the note of "1 soup for 2". i thought i'd try the korean ramen - and was expecting the small bowl you usually get. instead i was brought a HUGE bowl chock full of ramen, dumplings, rice cake floating in a flavorful broth. a MEAL for 2 in and of itself! our table quickly filled up with apps, the soup, meats, sauces and banchan. out server was very attentive, checking frequently for any needs or reorders - even though it was a busy friday night at dinner time. a great way to spend the evening with friends or your partner.

Yelp
They now have a great Korean BBQ tier option. You get a great bang for your buck and don't waste a lot of food. You can even take your leftovers so you don't have to overdo it. My friends and I had a great time and a delicious meal that didn't break the bank. We will come back to enjoy it again. The service was attentive, and the restaurant was nice and clean.

Yelp
Ha! This play just tried to make me $50 for just myself. Pft' whatever the food didn't even look that good. If you all want good all you can eat Korean BBQ, go to Kpot

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. Wonderful service as well. All you can eat is the way to go for price for value.

Yelp
2nd time here.... and really happy. It's fantastic Korean food, great ambiance and GREAT SERVICE. Restaurant at lunch is well liked by those at nearby Ft. Sam Houston also. Lunch specials are great. Fantastic flavor and more then plentiful. Bento box with Bulgogi.

Yelp
My family has been coming here for more than 13 years. Service is remarkable. It's nice when they recognize us. The food exceeds our expectations every time. My only complaint is that they've become so popular, we have to place our name on the waiting list. I'm waiting for the point system so my years of being a loyal customer can get me a free appetizer or something.
google avatar

Chasidy Michelle M.

Yelp
Food and ambience was poor quality . I've been to several Korean restaurants in this city and country , this is the worse ever . The menu had misspelled Korean foods and the price of a bottle of soju ($15) soft more than an appetizer .
google avatar

Yelp
The food is delicious, seriously. Perfectly seasoned, grilled just right (it better be, it's DIY, I hope you don't mess it up), you can always have Omma or Oppa do it in the back for you too, and they'll probably do it better than you. They give you 7 Banchan (Side Dishes) and a bowl of Bap with your main entrée, and they're delicious. Come to Kim's Galbi with an empty stomach, and you wont leave hungry.. The servers are wonderful, too. Homeboy was quick to bring me drink refills and clean empty dishes. My server had a serious demeanor but absolutely took care of what he needed to. 10/10. The restaurant has a calming, cozy, old world feel. It's a cool spot for any occasion.

Yelp
The food was excellent and a great variety. The side dishes were excellent as well food look very fresh and very good. The service was great. Our waitress was very friendly interactive, always check on us and kept our drinks filled. Amazing service and she made our first time experience eating here amazing. The lobby is very nice in the restaurant was clean and organized and good location lots of parking. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my family and friends. I would definitely come back here again.

Yelp
Service seemed rushed when it came to ordering. The food came cold for the second time eating at Kim Galbi. The restaurant was clean and nice to dine for lunch.

Yelp
Great food, most authentic KBBQ around and that's coming from someone who's had it all over the world. They have some authentic Korean dishes that are hard to find elsewhere. The Filipina waitress' are all nice and hospitable. I like that they can have the chef cook the meat for you. My guests really enjoyed the side dishes. The sweet tea is the best here. Great restaurant in a weird area but worth the drive.

Jessica H.

Yelp
Service was great and the food was delicious especially the bulgogi! The sides were tasty as well. I definitely enjoyed this experience.

Yelp
I came here because I use to have a best friend in high school that made the best Japanese food and I been looking for her and I remembered her name. It was Kim Galbi. And I'm glad I finally found her. Thanks for hosting me
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food and service! Clean bathrooms and ventilated grills. Very kind and attentive staff. We came in on a Saturday with a party of five and were seated immediately, plus the waiting time after we ordered all of our food was somewhat quick! Will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Dan G.

Yelp
Been here 3 times and food has always been amazing. Tables, floors and restrooms are clean. Service is always above and beyond.

Regina L.

Yelp
Best soup in San Antonio And best cold noodle in San antonio Whenever we're visiting San Antonio, always have some Korean Food in here Very very Gooooood~~~~~ Thanks Kim's Galbi!!
google avatar

Sadiya A.

Yelp
I didn't know what to expect as we came from a suggestion from a friend and I'm so glad we came! This place is definitely authentic Korean food/bbq! We ordered the sizzling dishes (MoDum Gui 2 Special) and I ordered beef teriyaki and the shrimp and veggie tempura. Everything was marinated well and tasted delicious. Definitely a place to check out for authenticity!

Yelp
Best Korean food I've eaten in a long time!! Love the bonchon options!! Highly recommended!!!!

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised to find a traditional Korean bar-b-q restaurant in San Antonino ! This is a super fun experience and great for a special event! Definitely come with a group of people because it is a ton of food ! You have to buy at least to meats and my friend and I struggled to finish. Definitely get the BulGoGi and the side dish set !!

Alex B.

Yelp
There's a handful of Korean bbq restaurants in San Antonio. But not only does Kim's have great bbq they also have a huge variety of other authentic dishes. Whether you just want Galbi or something a little more adventurous. This place won't disappoint!

Aby D.

Yelp
I had a very unbelievable night. (Horrible night.) This is not the first time I have been here, but after tonight I am not coming back here again. The quality of the food is good, the vibes are very nice, but the service is so bad. Our server is very rude; I don't know with anyone she likes this or only us. She turns off the grill when I'm grilling my meat and says it's still hot!!!! After that, I ask for side dishes, and she says it's a limited order. I ask how many I can ask for, and I'm willing to pay extra if I need to for it, so she brings more out, but I'm not happy at all. The last one is the worst; she asks me to tip her 18% tip, lol, so pressing to eat here when people do bad jobs and ask for good tips. I don't understand how the restaurant lets thing happens like this. Uncomfortable . I will never go back here again.

Jose G.

Yelp
Food and service is amazing! Best Korean bbq in town. Plates are delicious and a huge amount for such a good price. Place is very clean. Always come back here at least 2x a month. I love it!
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down, Kim's Galbi serves the best haemul pajeon and dulsot bibimbap in San Antonio, with generous banchan and hot or iced bori cha.
google avatar

Lellani R.

Yelp
We're first timers! My daughter had been wanting to try a Korean BBQ (cook meat yourself) so we decided to give it a try. We loved it! It was a neat experience and my kids and I loved it. We started with steamed dumplings, then had the bulgogi, shrimp and pork. We received cups of rice and lettuce so we could make our own lettuce wraps. The sauces were delicious. Peanut sauce is spicy though. We were also celebrating a birthday and the employees come out with a cart that has a speaker and plays Happy Birthday and everyone was energetic in getting the party started. We'll definitely go back!
google avatar

Kalvin A.

Yelp
The food was good considering the VERY limited options of Asian cuisine in San Antonio. At first we were reluctant to visit this place due to the reviews and the area. But the food was good and service was exceptional. Nothing comparable to DFW Korean cuisine BUT they did have very delicious dumplings and Kimchi stew. I'd recommend this place only if you're forced to be in San Antonio as there are no other safe options for Korean cuisine/BBQ in San Antonio.

Catalina D.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Taylor was a wonderful server, super helpful, kind & informative. 10/10 experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and service! Delicious! My daughter thought it was a lot of fun too. We will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was really delicious. We always order their specialty, Galbi ribs. Cannot go wrong with these. I really like how attentive to their customers. They ensure they can get you what you need and are courteous. The restaurant is very nicely designed and considering I've been and lived in Korea before, it brought me back to those days. I really loved the authentic feel. The prices are great and you can get a wide variety of soju. You will love this place.

Gabby B.

Yelp
The restaurant setting appeared nice, but the music was too loud and some areas don't appear to be maintained. The food is unjustifiably overpriced. I had the udon noodles with brown sauce and it was nearly inedible and bland. Fried rice portion is miserable for costing $15 alone. The service was great, our waitress was very kind and attentive, which made me feel bad that I disliked the food so much.
google avatar

Diana B.

Yelp
First time visit! Had no idea what to expect but went for the Korean bbq, kimchi pancake, and a few items for the kiddos involved. Our waitress was incredibly helpful when it came to ordering, making sure we had enough of everything for the table. The food was incredibly flavorful, the Korean bbq was easy to navigate and cook on our little grill. Fun experience, clean restaurant and restrooms, delicious foods. Definitely worth the 45 minute drive for another visit.
google avatar

Yelp
10 out of 10. Best Korean BBQ I've ever had. Sundubu Jagae is amazing. I've been to Seoul Korea, Japan, San Diego, Los Angeles where I've had great Korean food. However this was the best and it was in San Antonio! Very surprising, very excited to come back.
google avatar

Yelp
To start off I'm a truck driver so I placed a Togo order. It took 40 minutes to get food the "jjajangmyeon" it was really good and I ordered the "tangsuyuk". The tanhsuyuk they gave me taste like it sat there all morning and they just got rid of it . So please check your Togo order before you leave.
google avatar

Yelp
Being of Asian descent, I am quite discerning when it comes to taste and authenticity...That said, I only have 2 places that I recommend for Korean Food; Kim's & Sushi Express. Kim's is a nice, sit at a table with a hibachi/teppan-yaki grill in the middle while they bring you all the tasty sides and you cook your food. If you're not in the mood (to cook yourself), you can still order from the kitchen, which is what we usually do: the LA Galbi (Beef short-ribs) is highly recommended. Kim's never disappoints and is usually pretty crowded, so go early and/or try to make a reservation. Enjoy!

Jeff G.

Yelp
Outstanding service and food! Place was spotless and atmosphere reminded me of my time in Korea, minus the filth. I will be coming back!
google avatar

Yelp
This was my "Go-To" Korean food restaurant to visit when traveling for temporary duty in the Army at nearby Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Fort Sam Houston. Glad I found it again....and it is not hard to find when you remember the restaurant has a lighthouse as part of the outside structure. Great-great food!
google avatar

Melanie E.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant of ALL! The food is absolutely delicious! I love the bulgogi ramen. A little pricey but you pay for what you get. Service could be worked on. I've gotten the waiter Ethan a couple of times and he was a NIGHTMARE! But everything has its pros and cons

Yelp
5:30 pm. check in: I went here for a birthday celebration of a milestone. My bestie wanted to try a Korean Barbecue dinner they offer communal style. It was meant to be an intimate affair in a small party of three. If only life afforded us a crystal ball before committing to an event I would've suggested another place. But on Yelp a three star rating is always a good indicator of what to expect. The summation of patron's is because a place is expensive the dining experience will be elevated. In the case of Kim's Galpis they would be infinitely mistaken. If this was in the Pearl District it would be laughed out of existence. It is in a shady area surrounded by establishments prone to daily and nightly Miami Vice shenanigans. In Stone Oak a place with hundred dollar prices would be acceptable. In this environ, not so much. This used to be a once venerated Japanese Garden now it is a business where charm was plucked away by chopsticks. When we got here it wasn't busy but the host implored us with a labor shortage there would be a 45 minute wait. Not an issue but a foreshadowing of what was to come. Firstly the service here is abysmal. With the menu prices I expected a more professional, pleasant demeanor. Instead the server was " mad at the world", inattentive and rude to boot. We were hoping to order the option for two because it can easily feed at least three people. We were informed we either had to order the dinner for three or do the option for two and add an entree. Fine. We went with the latter. An example of the donkery of my server was when I ordered a drink. Surveying the menu the selection was nonexistent so I went with a water. The server was either annoyed I didn't order an expensive cocktail( I'm a card carrying craft beer enthusiast.) but she said , "Oh now we are a badass!" You should never address a patron like that, namely me. Ever. The server brought all the items on a cart: meats, vegetables and utensils. I ordered a ramen with amending appetizers. You cook all items on a grill at your table communal style. The grill throughout the evening had to be re-lit countless times which slowed cooking to a snail's pace. We were finally moved to another table. It happened to be in another server's section creating an awkwardness. The grill, again had issues and rather then offering suggestions or patience we were castigated like "little children." Kim Galpis' word of the day was "Hoodini" as the service did a disappearing act the rest of the evening. We even had to get simple items ourselves when our server was nowhere be found. 8-ish pm. checkout: Kim Galpis is a place for people who assume expensive means an elevated dining experience. Trust me this is not that place. The service was horrendous. The dumplings we had for appetizers tasted two days old. The marinated Korean Barbecue was way, way too sweet. The ramen was surmount to a bowl of a store bought Maruchan Cup. At points throughout the evening I wanted to walk out, exasperated by the weight of the experience but I didn't want to ruin the night. I didn't need to, this place did fine on its own. Yes, there is a labor shortage but hiring servers with poor interpersonal skills is more severe. If you can't fulfill a simple request to aim for good service and food then why is your business open in the first place?

Yelp
Food still great. After 10 years back again here.Visiting this place Everytime we got stationed in fort sams . My favorite restaurant . Our waitress so great and love it. She keeps smiling and so am I hahaha

Yelp
If I went based off recent reviews of this place, we would not have come in. They offered us the grill which we didn't want to partake in, we wanted to try their food first. I have only good things to say about it. Their banchan was so delicious! My husband special requested the fish cake and our server delivered! He ordered the bulgogi and it was phenomenal! Not too sweet and just the perfect umami ratios! I ordered the yukgaejang and it was so GOOD!!!! The broth was super clean and not fatty and perfectly seasoned!
google avatar

Connie H.

Yelp
I was craving Korean food and the first place we went was closed for renovations so we found this place and am very glad we did. They were busy on a Sunday night so we didn't sit at the grill where you can cook your own meat. This just means you get your meat cooked in their kitchen instead in front of you. My husband got the bulgogi which he would rate a 4. Only because he's had better. The meat could have had more texture and the onions on the bottom were raw. Albeit still pretty tasty. The banchan or side dishes were very good. I had the kimchi chegae with pork. Basically they take the fermented kimchi and add pork and tofu to make a soup. This was very yummy. This place could use a facelift and more servers but I will be back even tho it's a bit far from my house! Oh- we also had the fried dumplings with pork- very nicely fried and flavorful!

Yelp
Loved it can't wait to go back!! Experiment was fun exciting waitress was on point she had a sense of humor made us laugh walked us through the whole process it was our first time there explained the food how to order definitely going back the food was really good!
