"Located 10 minutes north of Downtown Santa Barbara, Kin Bakeshop is known for its mochi and brioche doughnuts, which often sell out early. Current flavors include raspberry yuzu and Thai tea Oreo. Owners Tommy Chang and Will Chen started it as a pop-up before opening the space in 2023. They also offer a creamy iced Einspänner coffee. Address: 199 S. Turnpike Road, Unit 103, Santa Barbara, CA, 93111." - Eater Staff

"Tommy Chang and Will Chen’s pop-up regularly sold out of its mochi and brioche doughnuts before opening a permanent space for Kin Bakeshop in 2023. Flavors rotate often and can include a cinnamon sugar mochi doughnut drizzled with Nutella, one with torched lemon meringue, or a Korean-inspired sweet potato brulee brioche doughnut. Check Kin’s Instagram to see what the weekly flavors are." - Mona Holmes

Google
A great place to have a quality cup of tea. They have a variety of matcha, hojicha and Thai tea using wonderful ingredients. They have asian inspired flavored donuts throughout the week. The donuts were super soft and chewy. I heard from Wednesday to Sunday they have mochi donuts, Friday and Saturday they also have the cream filled ones. I am so excited to go back. The staff there is super kind and helpful. It has definitely won my heart as my new favorite cafe in Santa Barbara!

Google
Upon arriving, you knew this place was going to deliver because of its long line at 10am. Regardless of the wait, their service was incredibly nice and friendly. The atmosphere was simple, modern, and comfortable. If you’re ordering mochi donuts for the first time, highly recommend getting their full selection to try out the different flavors. Their mochi donuts are SOFT and CHEWY and very shareable. In addition to their donuts, the menu selection also has specialty espresso drinks too if you want to pair up. Will definitely make this place a regular for me!

Jeannette Montes

Google
It was a cute and asthetic coffee shop. The coffee is really good. I had the black sesame latte and strawberry milk. We went on a Sunday afternoon, and the line was long. Sadly, they had sold out on all baked goods, but drinks were still available.

Google
Mind blown! It was my first visit and I will be back! Has a lychee mochi donut and Thai iced tea. Better than any other renditions… 10/10!! The texture of the mochi and the silky foam on the iced tea! Amazing!

Tanner Cassidy

Google
Amazing, constantly rotating menu of food and drinks. Seriously incredible. The lines can get really long, so get there first thing to avoid a wait (I have friends who say they've waited two hours). Use their Instagram for menus and updates since they change, and it's honestly the best way to plan wbat to get. The gluten free options are incredible even if you don't normally avoid gluten, and the mochi donuts are divine. FYI: there's basically no indoor seating, so this is a place to grab and go.

Google
I was pleasantly surprised by the passion fruit strawberry donut—it exceeded my expectations! Initially, I was leaning towards trying the guava flavor, but I’m glad I opted for the passion fruit. It strikes the perfect balance of sweetness, with a soft and light texture that makes it delightful. The presentation of both the food and drinks is impressive, showcasing a harmonious blend of taste and aesthetics. The wait time is quite reasonable, and the experience is definitely worth it. The atmosphere is inviting, with a minimal and cozy design that enhances the overall experience. I also appreciated the container drink size since the strawberry matcha latte had just the right amount of ice and a perfect consistency. Given the quality, the price point is fair.

Google
Wonderful place with delicious donuts. Their donuts are the best in this area. The dough just melts in your mouth, they are not very sweet and give you a taste of the fillings. Very nice polite staff. There are huge queues here. The place is really popular, so come early. The prices for donuts are very high, but the taste justifies the price

Google
Absolutely wonderful baked mochi donuts!! Pictured here is the baked raspberry rose and guava coconut mochi donuts, and pandan mochi muffin. Will be coming back many times!

Yelp
I love this place!! I live in LA but I would definitely make the trip out here once in a while to get their coffees/pastries. It's very cute and the staff was really friendly. Everything is baked fresh too. Matcha and peach mango mochi donut (5/5): So good! So flavorful and chewy. I liked both flavors but the peach mango was a stand out. The flavor was so bright, citrusy, fresh. I'd definitely get this again. Coconut matcha cloud (5/5): This drink is trendy now on social media but I was first introduced to it at this cafe and it did not disappoint. It was so good and came with coconut meat inside which tasted great. Black Sesame Cream Top (5/5): Another winner, my friend got this drink and I tried it. I loved the black sesame combo with the espresso. It's definitely heavier than the coconut matcha cloud but has a punch if you need a pick me up. Overall, great experience and I can't wait until I come here again!

Yelp
the service here is great - cashier was very patient and offered us tea to enjoy after ordering while we waited for our drinks. i love that they also bring out the drinks on a tray for every order the cream top on every drink we had was universally amazing. it was perfectly creamy with a consistency easy to drink and to mix in after having a few sips. it was nicely sweetened and portioned nicely with each drink. matcha einspanner ~ $7.00 - 4.5/5 - one of the best matcha einspanners i've had. as a whole, the drink is great but from tasting the matcha on its own before mixing it, i had a hint of a bitter aftertaste in the matcha that i don't usually experience with my usual unsweetened matchas. because of this, the einspanner is a perfect choice to still get that matcha taste; i would be a little more cautious about the plain matcha latte but would likely still try it. matcha black sesame cream top ~ $7.25 - the black sesame was delicious and didn't overpower the matcha so the combination of the flavors both were able to come out with each sip. i also liked the touch of sesame seeds on the cream as well. hojicha black sesame cream top ~ $7.25 - this was a nice hojicha with the perfect level of roasted-ness. jasmine oat latte ~ $5.75 - 4/5 - both the jasmine and coffee were incredibly strong. this was truly a unique combination that was nice to try, but not particularly right for me. if you don't absolutely LOVE jasmine AND coffee, this might not be the best choice peach mango pie mochi donut & cinnamon sugar mochi donut ~ $3.25 each - 5/5 - both were soft and chewy with a good level of sweetness there is seating along in the inside wall which is ideal for waiting but because of the business of this spot, it tends to get crowded inside really quickly. there are a few tables and seats outside which balance this out parking is easy as it's in a large lot in the plaza. the cafe itself is harder to spot as it's in the corner without a big sign, but often has a long line that makes its general location easy to locate. we went on a saturday around noon and the line was pretty quick (~20 minutes) but hear that there are usually long lines that extend much further out. they occasionally post updates for estimated wait times on their instagram story which can be helpful to refer to, as well as featured drinks and whether anything is out of stock.

Yelp
Inside is minimal and with bench seating. Ceiling was aesthetically pleasing with wood slats. We were met by two employees who offered us hit barley tea while we waited. It was reminiscent of our favorite Japanese restaurant. We opted for the hojicha and matcha both with the sesame soft top. We were both surprised when it came out with a spoon and not a straw LOL. Must have missed that in the pictures. I had to move the soft top to the side to try the matcha. The matcha was so smooth and I mixed in the sesame soft top to give it a bit of sweetness. It turned it into a lightly roasted matcha drink that was unique and delicious. I would have loved to be given a straw to enjoy this as we got on the road again after picking this up. No mochi donuts today to try :(

Darylynn D.

Yelp
I came here because they have matcha and I got the ube matcha cream top. It's very creamy and both of the flavors are blend. I also had the pandan mochi donut. The pandan flavor was light and tasted like a sugar frosting with slight pandan flavor. The staff was friendly and the decor is very simple and welcoming.

Naomi L.

Yelp
WOAH the matcha here is a shot of caffeine and will definitely keep you awake on that drive from Santa Barbara back to LA. Don't let the line deter you from getting a drink here, it's worth it. I got the Matcha Black Sesame and was immediately hit with the creamy and smooth taste of both flavors melding in my mouth. The drink was the perfect "not too sweet" that made it feel like both a sweet treat and also something palpable to drink for a long period of time. I have to admit, I actually ended up saving the drink to drink over the span of three days. I overheard that there is about 6 g of matcha per drink (someone can confirm this for sure though) and that is definitely more than what my body can have in a day. I will say, you definitely can get the flavor of the matcha in the drink. I thoroughly enjoyed and savored every sip. I will be back to also try the sweets!

Enrica C.

Yelp
Stopped by this Japanese coffee shop on the first day of my 2-day trip to Santa Barbara, and it was so good that I had to return with more people the next day! The flavors offered here are super unique and rich. You can tell they place a high standard on the quality of their drinks! I got the black sesame hojicha one day, and the black sesame topping was amazing! So creamy and flavorful! I got the black sesame cream top the next day, because I knew I needed to try that cream one more time. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area! The service is super patient and friendly, and the interior design is super cute - reminded me of the minimalist aesthetic I'd see around Japan!

Alayna K.

Yelp
Incredible drinks and einspanners! The vibe of the place makes you feel hip and trendy. I absolutely loved their matcha einspanner, one of the best I've had! The wait unfortunately was long but the cream on top was incredible. Hojicha was also delicious.

Naomi W.

Yelp
This was honestly better than any of the cream top lattes I've tried in LA! When I arrived the line was formed out the door but didn't take too long to move. I ordered one of their specials which was the ube espresso cream top. The espresso was very smooth tasting and balanced well with the sweet cream top and ube. I ordered one of the Thai tea Oreo mochi donuts as well as the tiramisu mochi donut. Both were very good. Space has limited seating and very minimalistic decor. Staff was friendly. Will definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
I love that this place opened in SB, I go to school in SLO so sometimes on my way back towards OC I stop by. It's such a gem to have an actual good matcha place that reminds me highly of matcha in LA. Their matcha einspanner is so good, perfect sweetness and creaminess. The cup size is smaller compared to other places. Their mochi donuts are so good, they are baked freshly and can sell out quick. There a few seats inside, but not a crazy ton. The workers are very fast and super kind, I love this spot. Be sure to check it out when you're in SB! ig: @cravingswithcat

Yelp
Didn't expect to find a great Japanese coffee bar out here in Goleta. Their Black Sesame Cream Top was decadent as were their Mochi Muffins. Great there early if you want their Mochi Donuts, which we have yet to try because they sell out early. Cozy place with a bench and a couple tables inside. Great for enjoying your coffee.

Alyssa A.

Yelp
After hearing all the wonderful reviews of Kin, we had to take a drive up to Santa Barbara to try their coffee. Such a lovely little coffee shop with a good selection of drinks and bakery items. We came later in the day so they were unfortunately already out of donuts (just an excuse to come back again!), but we did get to try one of their Taro Mochi Muffins. Delish! The hit the flavors perfectly without it being too sweet. Love a good matcha latte, so I had to try their Strawberry Matcha Latte. I don't know how they managed to make it so thick and creamy, but they did, and I love it. Great ratio of the strawberry to matcha. I'd want to try more of their drinks but would totally order this again next time. The hubs tried their Black Sesame Cream Top - also an enjoyable choice. Minimalistic seating options inside. Not many chairs, more than blocks or risers to sit on. Still a nice way to sip your coffee. Parking wasn't too bad outside, it was just busy because it was lunch time for the local school. Definitely recommend stopping by for a drink and a pastry. However, if you're looking to try their donuts, definitely come earlier in the day!

Erica G.

Yelp
Went with friends when we were in SB . Busy busy busy . A lot of items were sold out as we went later in the day . Small shop . We sat outside . What I tasted was good . Happy that this small owned business is doing so well .

Keilani O.

Yelp
Must go to if you're in the Santa Barbara area or if you're planning a trip to SB. Their matcha einspanner changed my life, I wish I was being dramatic..it was that good. Very rich, high quality matcha and the subtle sweetness of the foam really added to the whole flavor profile. My friend and I also got an assortment of their mochi desserts and every single one of them was a hit for us. Love that the flavors are unusual. After ordering, they gave us complementary hot oolong tea. The staff was friendly and service was timely. The area was clean and aesthetically pleasing with nature minimalistic style decor. 10/10 experience. I will definitely be back! I would love to try their hojicha einspanner and banana milk matcha mmm.

Bing B.

Yelp
Have been a loyal customer to this place since they first opened and love their customer service!! Tommy the owner is the best and really takes time to appreciate and talk to most of the customers. Haven't seen him in a while but will say Kin can get super busy at times but now that they're open for most days of the week it's definitely gotten better. Their mochi donuts are all a must try and they change flavors every week!

Kelly S.

Yelp
Kin Bakeshop is so cozy and welcoming from the minute you walk through the door! The team member working behind the counter was super friendly. They have a variety of donut flavors with examples in the counter so you can easily pick, including some gluten free options. We got one of each because they all looked so good! They also have a large choice of coffee and teas, and offer a small complementary sip of tea while you wait, which was so tasty. I'm so excited to come and try new seasonal flavors!

Marissa W.

Yelp
Visited sb over the weekend and went to Kin two days in a row because we wanted to try more items. The first day we tried the black sesame cream top and the matcha einspanner. The second day we tried the ube espresso cream top, Vietnamese coffee, and black sesame matcha. We also tried the pandan mochi muffin. All were delicious and we'll definitely be back the next time we're in sb. The staff at the front were super friendly and nice. The cafe was super aesthetic for the instagram pics. On Friday morning, there was no wait but on Saturday morning, the wait was about 30 mins.

Harriet E.

Yelp
Black sesame cream top espresso is my new jam! Holy cow, this cold ice creamy, nutty drink deserves all the 5 star reviews it's getting on Yelp! Run to Kin Bakeshop (next to Jersey Mike's in the Turnpike Shopping Center) and get yours today! Stellar customer service from the sweet and friendly counter staff, Milo, Alex, Catarina, and Lorraine.

Tian W.

Yelp
Top tier presentation and interior decor/vibes. I'm not a huge fan of whipped cream but this place convinced me that einspanners can be good. I've been back a few times and I would definitely recommend the einspanner over the normal lattes. I love how the hojicha is incorporated into swirls of the whipped cream as well as the drink itself. Note the einspanner is pretty expensive. I've also tried their mochi donuts but I was not super impressed. However their donuts are not made to order so perhaps it's an unfair comparison. Santa Barbara is a little out of the way for me, but I always try and make a pitstop while going up/down the 101. Try stopping by if you can!

Melissa L.

Yelp
Kin Bakeshop was recommended by a friend and we were able to stop by on a Sunday afternoon to give them a try. Understandably since we came after 12pm there wasn't a line but that's also because all of the filled custard donuts were gone. If you are wanting to come to get these I was told you must come at their opening hours. I'm not one to like standing in long lines, even for good food, so I was happy that even though there was less of a selection, we were able to walk right up to the counter to order. The only donut options were the mochi donuts which I was perfectly fine with! I love me any kind of donut really and these flavors looked delicious. My friend group got a combination of lemon, triple berry and pumpkin. I opted for the chocolate rice crispy crunch and it was so dang delicious! The mochinuts were super light and tasty. Probably some of the better ones I've had as they tasted so fresh and bouncy. Not too firm which sometimes has been my issue with other places. It's a good donut to me and clearly very popular. I didn't opt for a drink this trip but one of my friends got the iced matcha. She was pretty happy with it overall. It looked good and had a rich green color. Had I not wanted to spoil my appetite I would have loved to try the black sesame drink or a matcha, but there is always next time. The inside was very clean and organized. It was easy to follow the menu and figure out the items left. While the inside was busy, it was nice seeing that there was seating options and some ledges against the wall to put your items down on. Staff were very friendly and efficient at getting our orders out. I was impressed and would say it was a 5 star experience overall for service, cleanliness, price, and quality of the food I did get to try. Would love to come back!

Jasmine C.

Yelp
Stopped by this place after camping in Santa Barbara and was so happy that we did :) It is a very cute coffee/donut shop with unique drinks. I ordered black sesame Einspanner and was satisfied with my drink. I really enjoyed the cream on the top. I also ordered mochi donuts which were very similar to Mochinut. It is located in a mall with a lot of parking spaces which is a plus. There was a pretty long line expending to outside of the shop when I went on a Sunday morning

Melanie H.

Yelp
Got a rec from a friend to try this place and decided to make it a pit stop while on my long journey up the coast. There was already a super long line right off the bat but I feel like the vibe the place was giving was very fun and worth the hype so I stayed to place my order of a hojicha einspanner and mochi donut. The cookie butter mochi donut was good for the moment but nothing that stood out in particular compared to other companies. However, I had no idea what to expect for the drink never having einspanner. It was really thick cream on the top and was beautiful but I had to learn really quick to really mix it in otherwise the cream would be too sweet on its own. I was laughing because this drink is like a spill trap. I was sloshing all over and I turned and saw the same thing happening to another girl because it's so filled to the brim ahaha Overall, would visit again and try their other drinks as I'm intrigued by their other flavors too!

Michelle C.

Yelp
It seems that they've gotten their donut & baked goods process more efficient since my last review! This most recent time we were in SB, we went 3x total & we arrived before opening each time. There was always a line but it moved fairly quickly. We were able to order donuts easily, and once done ordering, they offered a small cup if barley tea. My husband and BIL really love Kin's Vietnamese coffee and I LOVEEEE their black sesame matcha and black sesame hojicha. The cream tops are just so good. Wish y'all opened a location in the Bay Area :)

Polly L.

Yelp
I waited for almost 45 mins to get my drink, maybe 35 mins outside and then 10 mins for the drink. I got the black sesame cream drink and it was so good. I love the nutty flavor with the coffee but I'm not sure if the wait was worth it. If it was a shorter line, 100%. The aesthetic is super cute but everyone is just waiting for drinks inside and it gets really crowded. People stay there to talk and there's not much room to wait. One plus is that they're very dog friendly and they have a pup cup but because it's so crowded inside, we opted to go outside since there were already 2 dogs inside. I did like how they whisk each individual cup of matcha which is also a plus! But their brioche donuts are only available Friday and Saturday :(

Ashley V.

Yelp
The line was quite long when we showed up but it was organized. I appreciated how the staff offered samples and complimentary tea while we were waiting. We order the matcha einspanner and the strawberry matcha latte. Both were quite good, high quality. The brioche donut was tasty but I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor (it rotates so keep track of it on their IG). That being said, it's really just a matter of your preference when it comes to donut flavors/fillings. The service was attentive and friendly despite how busy they were. They were nice enough to thank us for driving out to SB (we're from the SFV). The cafe isn't that big so it does get packed fast (at least on the weekend). I wish Kin was closer to me!

Diane D.

Yelp
Coming from Orange County where we have plenty of trendy coffee shops and dessert places.. I was pleasantly surprised to find Kin Bakeshop to satisfy my addiction to creamtop einspanner-esque drinks. It is extremely hard to find great matcha and/or einspanners, but to find a place that has the best combination of both is amazing. Coming back 2 days in a row with a limited stay in Santa Barbara speaks for itself. The hojicha creamtop was so unique and just "crème de la creme", pun intended..lol. I don't think I have found a place even in Orange County that is this good. I will come back at all costs! Wait for me!

Catalina G.

Yelp
This place is so good, everything on the menu is delicious. There's always a wait but I think it's worth it. Definitely try a mochi donut or their stuffed donuts. The place is clean, simple and nice. Donuts are a 10, coffee/match is a 10, service is a 10.

Les S.

Yelp
Even though I have access to numerous places near my area that offers similar items, I usually have to go to 2 different places to get great donuts and drinks. This place does an excellent job with both, which is hard to find. I have never been to this area of Santa Barbara before but wanted to take a slight detour on our family trip just to try it. I was a bit nervous because of so many reviewers mentioning the long line, but we got super lucky on our first visit. There was no line when we got here at around 12:15 p.m. on a Sunday, but there was a line of at least 20 people behind us less than a minute after we arrived. I actually wanted to try some of its filled donuts, but only had mochi donuts on our visit. Got Strawberry Shortcake, Blackberry Lime, and Early Grey Chocolate. The mochi donuts were excellent with the right amount of sweetness. They all tasted fresh and didn't have any of that old oil taste like with other places I tried in the past. My favorite was the Strawberry Shortcake even though it sounded somewhat boring. In terms of its drinks, Black Sesame Cream Top is my favorite so far. It's a latte drink with a black sesame cold foam on top. This place serves it with a spoon so you can try some of the cream top first before indulging in rest of the drink. The cream top was addicting and I ate little too much of it to the point where I really didn't have anything left to mix with rest of the drink. Hojicha Latte was good too, although pretty similar in quality to ones I had in the past. Also tried one of its seasonal drinks, Strawberry Yakult Mint Tonic. It's probably something I can replicate at home but was very refreshing and tasty on a hot day. Not sure I would wait 20+ minutes, but if I'm in the area and the line isn't too crazy, I definitely would come back to try more items. Because the menu keeps rotating, it will always be a new adventure at this place. Service was excellent, and I loved the super minimalistic decor. It's located in the Vons shopping center next to Lighthouse Coffee and Jersey Mike's.

Natalie Y.

Yelp
I wish I didn't live 140+ miles away because otherwise I'd be coming here every week :') I'm in love with the sesame espresso drink. The sesame flavor is strong and the coffee is pleasantly sweet. The best sesame coffee I've ever had. Will be forever holding all the sesame drinks I try to this standard! I also got some mochi donuts and brioche donuts (not pictured). I love the rotating flavor concept and it gives me major FOMO lol I think I have to move to Santa Barbara :p

Julie N.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and come here whenever you're in Santa Barbara! The mochi donuts are delicious- we tried quite a few flavors but loved the cookies and cream one! The star of the show are the mochi muffins though. The texture of the mochi muffin was the best I've ever had, it was so chewy on the inside while slightly crunchy on the outside. Tried both the ube and the pandan and the ube is definitely my favorite with the pandan being a close second. If you like the Vietnamese "Banh Bo Nuong" the pandan flavor definitely reminds me of that. The flavors change daily, so check the instagram every morning for the flavors.

Miranda C.

Yelp
The matcha here is the real deal!! I was truly blown away by how high quality the matcha tastes. I ordered a matcha einspanner and a strawberry matcha latte. The matcha was so well balanced with the cream in the einspanner and also with the strawberry puree in the strawberry matcha latte. The strawberry puree tasted so fresh and perfectly sweet. The service was top tier! The baristas walk up to you with the drink on a tray. I've never seen any other cafe do that. The interior of this place is so cute. All the little knickknacks on the shelves really tie the whole place together.

Janel T.

Yelp
Great experience! The decor was minimal but very cute. The service was good. The drinks came out fast. All the drinks have a strong matcha taste! Strawberry matcha latte: 8/10 Sesame matcha latte: 7.5/10 Einspanner matcha latte: 8/10 Matcha latte: 7/10

Rosie O.

Yelp
This is a fun place that I knew nothing about but someone clued me in to trying. Unfortunately they were all out of their baked goods which the word is that they are a must try. But I was able to indulge in one of the drinks. Delicious. And the word is they are the top place for matcha drinks Must try. Friendly staff, fun drinks, great customers. Win win.

Imo O.

Yelp
Kin is everything!! The best donuts in Santa Barbara, period! I can't believe I waited this long to come here because now I can't stay away! COME EARLY! At least 30 min before they open. There will be a wait, but I promise you it's worth it. If you follow them on IG, they post wait times throughout the day so you can gauge the best time to come. Their menu rotates each week and it's also posted there. They do sell out so if you want the best picks, come early! The ambiance of the shop is calming, mellow, and minimalistic and this is also displayed in their staff. It's was just an overall great experience! The donuts were soft, chewy, sweet, and each flavor was so unique and tasty! You cannot go wrong with anything you order! As for the drinks, my favorite was the Thai Tea Cream Top! I am already planning my next visit because Kin is a WIN!

Alice Y.

Yelp
My husband and I did a quick weekend trip to Santa Barbara with this at the top of my list of new spots to check out, and it did not disappoint! We waited about 20-30 min but with great weather in SB, it was nice to be outside for a bit. Service was exceptionally friendly at the counter, and they also explain how to best enjoy your drink if it's your first time there. We ordered the dole whip & hojicha tearamisu mochi donuts. I've had several mochi donuts at other places so didn't expect much, but these tasted so fresh and flavors were so well balanced. I even got back in line when it was shorter to order more to take back to my family to try, and they loved it! For drinks, we got the hojicha black sesame and hojicha einspanner which already come with oat milk. Both were amazing, and high quality! I love the nuttiness of their hojicha and how it balanced well with the cream / black sesame. My husband said he would come back to SB just to get Kin and I agree. I heard they started as a pop-up, and it's amazing to see how well they're doing after launching their storefront! We'll definitely be back.

Alyson E.

Yelp
Delicious einspanners and aesthetic cafe in SB! I came here on a Tuesday right when they opened to do some work and ordered their Matcha Einspanner. The cream top was perfect, not too thick and not too thin, and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. The matcha was great and paired well with the einspanner cream. My fiancé ordered the Espresso Einspanner, which was also tasty. The coffee was strong and the cream balanced well with the bitterness of the espresso. The service here is excellent! The workers were friendly and helpful. They brought out our drinks quickly even though the place did get busy. As far as the cafe space itself, there's a large bench to sit as well as some short stools. There's outlets and free WiFi available, so it's a great space to do work or study. Since they're fairly new and still expanding, they unfortunately don't sell their brioche donuts on Tuesdays, so I'll have to give those a try the next time I'm in the area. Their other mochi donuts and muffins did sell out quickly, so come early to grab one! Will definitely be back when in the area!

Yelp
The service at kin bakeshop was fantastic. I came in on a Thursday around 1pm and luckily it was only about a 5 min. wait and I was offered barley tea while I waited. You can tell the team really makes an effort to get to know their customers. I ordered a jasmine raspberry mochi donut, pandan muffin and the matcha einspanner. When the team brings out your drink, they tell you how you're meant to drink it. In my opinion, the matcha einspanner was tasty but didn't particularly stand out. I felt the same way about the baked goods. I was expecting to really taste the flavors but nothing really popped where I could specifically taste the jasmine raspberry or pandan.

Yelp
Was it worth the 2 hour wait? A little bit of yes and a little bit of no. Don't get me wrong, the desserts here are good, but if you are in a bit of a rush and don't have "time" to wait, then you probably might not enjoy it as much because there will ALWAYS be a line. Even before the cafe opens, there is a line as well! When we came, it rained, and yes, we stayed. The staff was nice enough to hand out some free tea samples for us. I highly recommend checking out their IG account because they give live updates on which selections are sold out or running low so you won't be "disappointed" upon arrival. The highlight of this was my hojicha black sesame cream top. BEFORE you mix the drink, make sure you SIP it to get that full thick creamy taste of black sesame. I honestly just recommend sipping it instead of mixing it with a straw because the black sesame taste gets hidden once mixed. For their Hokkaido brioche donuts - we were able to get all the flavors to try (banana cream pie, black sesame, jasmine blood orange, matcha, yuzu lemon and earl grey). My favorite ones were the black sesame of course and matcha. The other flavors were good too. Overall, prices are reasonable, credit cards are accepted and there's plenty of parking. Just know that there will be a long line no matter what time of the day you go - so be prepared to wait!

Yelp
I drove all the way from Thousand Oaks to check this place out. I saw ads on IG and then I checked yelp to see if the hype was real. This place delivered and I'm so happy I got to try it. My wait time was 20 mins ( Thursday around 10am) but I noticed that it died down after that and people came and went without the wait. All the drinks on the menu are so delicious and the draw that got my attention in the first place. The einspanner on each drink is so airy, sweet, and creamy which elevates it to a dreamy experience. I got the expresso einspanner, matcha einspanner and the black sesame matcha. Wow wow wow. For the mochi donuts, I didn't know what to expect so I got all the featured flavors: mojito, vanilla macadamia, guava, black sesame raspberry, gf raspberry, cinnamon sugar, and chocolate. The best one out of these were the black sesame, hands down. It was sweet and nutty - made you want more each bite. The texture on all the donuts were the same which was dense, chewy and fluffy. They don't make you feel full and I didn't get a sugar high like I feel when consuming a regular donut. I wish they offered brioche donuts to try since they looked good online, but thankfully, I've had something similar closer to home so it wasn't a let down. Overall, I would definitely come back for their drinks. Each hand crafted matcha and expressos are strong in flavor with a delicate balance with their toppings (cream top, black sesame, einspanner). It definitely makes you sip and savor each gulp. Since there could potentially be a long wait and the store is small, I hope they can establish a drink line only so you can get in and out. If not, it might be hard to stop by when I have the dogs in the car. I spent $43 bucks here, mochi donuts are like $4 and drinks are $6-7. This place is worth the hype for the drinks, the donuts are a big bonus.

Yelp
Goodness, I can't tell you how happy I was to stop by this place with my friend on the way to the beach! Initially she raved about the matcha latte here but once I saw they served Ssuk (mugwort) latte, I IMMEDIATELY ordered it! The kind employee who took my order was pleased that I knew what it was and that he said he preferred it over the matcha that they're known for. So so so good! If you like matcha, I would definitely give Ssuk a try. Super balanced earthy and creamy. And the einspanner foam is divine!

Yelp
Cute minimalistic, bakery that opened up between Santa Barbara and Goleta. One of its kind in Santa Barbara that you can find any of these types of cafés in LA. Their drinks are very tasty, big fan of the Matcha spanner as well as the sesame foam topped latte. unfortunately have not gotten to try their brioche donuts as they often sell out, though they look delicious. Understandably because they're a small community sounds like they're changing up there process I follow them on Instagram Instagram for closer updates if interest.

Yelp
Donuts are above average, definitely worth a try. I appreciate their variety of flavors that are pretty unique to the area. Drinks are good, but overpriced. Be careful to check your order because both times I've gone, they've messed it up or forgotten something :/

Yelp
Amazing! The Espresso Einspanner is my go to. Its very creamy and not too sweet. Make sure to try some of their Mochi Donuts, can't go wrong with any. There is always a line on the weekends so make sure to know that you will wait 15-30 minutes. The inside can get a bit crowded as there are not many places to sit. Overall, good for ToGo. Not really great if you want to hang out.

Yelp
Great coffee with full bodied flavors, the mochi donuts and muffin are freshly made and perfect texture and flavor. The jasmine latte has a great floral flavor. Pretty small inside and tables aren't real tables but nice to hangout for a bit.

Yelp
The hype is real. Boyfriend got the matcha einspanner & I got the black sesame cream top latte. He was in disbelief at how good it was, he couldn't stop saying it. I chose to add another shot to my latte & it came out perfect. The black sesame complimented the latte, made it so much for flavorful & robust. Definitely coming back if I visit Santa Barbara again. Service was good as well!

Yelp
Update: tried the hojicha latte with black sesame cream top today and my boyfriend and I looooved it!! As in, basically-inhaled-it loved it. This flavor combination works so well together and I enjoy the addition of the cream top to the excellent quality/taste of the hojicha. If this were in LA, I'd definitely be buying it regularly! The workers are consistent in recommending you the best way to enjoy your drink, depending on what your order is (e.g. if you should mix the cream before drinking).

Yelp
Super cute place for donuts and tea/coffee! I didn't realize this place was so popular, so when I showed up about half an hour before the store opens and saw a line, I was a bit surprised. That being said, the line experience was not bad: the owner hands out tickets to ensure people don't cut in line, a girl then handed out free barley tea, and once the store opened, the line moved quickly. I found all of this to be quite nice customer service. As for the food, I tried the hojicha einspanner, black sesame hojicha, and three brioche donuts. Everything was so flavorful! I found the flavors on the yuzu lemon donut, maple hojicha donut, and black sesame donut to be intense, which I appreciated. What was a nice touch, especially if you're dining in, is that a server will bring your drinks to you on a wood platter and explain how she recommends drinking your tea/coffee. She told us to use the spoon to enjoy the toppings on each first and then to stir everything together. The fluffy cream on the hojicha einspanner was so good! Given how long the line was, I felt it moved quite quickly and wouldn't let it deter me from going again.

Yelp
My friend and I came for breakfast around 11am and there were still a long line out the door! We waited about 45 min before being able to order. I got the matcha einspanner and one of the mochi donuts. The drink was delicious with the right amount of sweetness and cream. The donut was not bad too. Given the wait, I'm not sure if I will return but I did enjoy what I had. Make sure to check their instagram stories for updates on what donuts they offer and wait times.

Yelp
Came here on a trip from LA to SB. This place was aesthetically pleasing and the Mochi Donuts were fluffy. Wish there was one in LA. Definitely recommend.
