"After getting laid off during the pandemic, Julia Broome took a leap of faith in early 2021 by opening her first restaurant. Providence doesn’t have too much Southern cuisine, but Broome has been garnering rave reviews for her dense biscuits, delicate fried catfish, and deeply flavorful collard greens with smoked turkey. Be sure to check out the “dranks” menu, which includes options like the Black Girl Magic with peach vodka and lemonade, and the Pass the...Henny! *Busta Rhymes Voice, with sweet tea and orange liqueur." - Jenna Pelletier

Food was 10/10, cornbread was the fluffiest I’ve ever had, warm beignets, BBQ ribs, fried chicken wings in the honey garlic and sweet chili sauces, everything was great! Our server was attentive and helpful.

Well I just have to leave a review. I am visiting & decided to go in before I head back home. I had the chicken wings (garlic parmesean) Mac & cheese, potato salad. MY favorite thing was the potato salad!! Yummm. I would go back just 4 that. The Mac & cheese was delish too!! My only regret is that I should have gotten the garlic parmesean on the side. It was a little tangy, SAlty and lemon tasting (not much garlic that I tasted) But the wings themselves were great tasting!! The atmosphere is AMAZING! I can tell they are cooking with love! I will happily come back to eat (I want the greens next) :-))

Took 1 hour for food to come & it was cold & unseasoned. The waffles weren't even fresh, they were very thick & heavy. Only 4 wing flings & I specifically asked if the meal came with whole wings. Grits were undercooked and not delicious at all. Service was not pleasant. Chicken sandwich had very little chicken and sauce, the bacon was very thick & hard. The potatoes were cut so big with no seasoning. And the salt shaker was empty. We're still sitting here thirsty. Took 40 minutes to get a second cup of coffee. Just an bad experience overalll. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone or return here. Too expensive for the service or flavor that was provided to us. By the way were still hungry 😕

Google
I recently visited Kin Southern Table + Bar for some soul comfort food, and I must say, it was a delightful experience overall. I indulged in their chicken and waffles paired with creamy mac and cheese, and I was thoroughly satisfied. The chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned lightly, perfectly complementing the waffles. The mac and cheese was rich, gooey. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was cozy and inviting, providing a warm escape from the hustle and bustle outside. However, the only downside was the limited space, which could make it a bit crowded during peak hours. Overall, it offers delicious soul food with a cozy atmosphere, making it a great spot for a comforting meal. I would definitely recommend it to anyone craving some hearty, well-seasoned dishes.

Google
I had the honey garlic wings that were very tasty. The mac & cheese and collard greens were ok, I’ve tasted better. Sweet Yams were a little dry as if they were sitting out all day. My partner had catfish po’ boy sandwich with fries. He said the catfish was over-fried. I had the From The Jungle drink but it was too bitter so I switched it for the Black Girl Magic which was amazing.

Missing my tasty homecooked Southern soulfood traditions terribly, I dropped into Kin after work this past Friday. Once again, I was greeted by warm inviting wait staff, the manager and the owner herself. Ordered dine-in and also to go. Fried chicken wings entree with collard greens, macaroni and corn bread with its secret ingredients. Music and ambiance was relaxing, so I ordered my signature smooth drink of Bacardi black rum and Goslings Ginger Beer...the Mamba Special. Yes, upon tasting this splendid cuisine, I was once again transported back in time to my native Savannah, Georgia. My weekend started out perfectly thanks to this 5 star dining experience and my catfish entree and more delicious sides to go. Come relax here, enjoy yourself and dare to accompany your meal with my signature drink recommendation! As for me, I love Kin and I am definitely coming back again.

The whole restaurant is a vibe! From the food to the service to the atmosphere, i enjoyed all of it! Let me just say, I’m from the south. I’ve lived in the south for most of my life. I thought the food was really good! The chicken wings were delicious! The greens were really good, and after adding their hot sauce, they were PERFECT! The Mac and cheese was also very good! The cornbread was different than what I’m used to, but with the honey butter, i thought it was really good! I even tried the beignets. They were different than the beignets I’ve had in New Orleans, but they were still very good! I enjoyed this restaurants take on southern dishes! I definitely will return and I really want to go to brunch!

Yelp
We stopped here to try as part of the RI Food Fights Lord of the Wings competition. As we'd lived in the south for many years & missed southern cuisine, we were happy to finally try it out. We sat at the bar & decided Juju Juice cocktail sounded like a tasty tropical foil to spicy wings & it was. The decor was rather simple but comfortable. At the bartenders suggestion, we ordered the Honey Garlic Wings. Great choice! We added sides of mac & cheese & collard greens. While the Wings & mac were great & we'd certainly return for more, the collards were the star of the show! Loaded with smoked turkey & topped with a good shot of the delicious house-made hot sauce, they were some of the best I've ever had. Aboutely delicious! Look forward to returning to try more.

Yelp
I had a terrible experience the place itself is nice and the music is good but the service here is horrific. Our food took almost an hour to come out and our server was all over the place messing up our order forgetting things etc. one he told us my chicken and waffle came with a side and he said I could've put the cornbread as a side just to end up charging us for it later. Second we ordered mac and cheese and never received it and was charged for it as well and when we let him know he said for us to just take It home we declined and was able to get it removed. My friend also ordered sliders and ended up receiving a regular chicken sandwich which cost 4 dollars more than the sliders he originally ordered. The food itself was okay the cornbread was delicious but the hassle to get the food itself was not worth it at all. I probably will never come back here cause the food itself isn't worth the terrible service we received.

Yelp
I went to Kin Southern Table and Bar located on 71 Washington St in Providence, RI. This spot features classic southern comfort food and serves both brunch and dinner! We went for brunch and got a variety of different plates. For starters we got the cornbread with their housemade butter. This was a denser/caker cornbread that was delicious with their honey butter spread 6/10. We got their chicken wings which were by far the star of brunch. These were so juicy and delicious a must get to share 9/10. For main dishes we got the chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and farmlette. The chicken wings again with the waffles was cooked to perfection. The waffle was a denser waffle than normal but still paired well with the chicken and syrup 8/10. The shrimp and grits is not something I would normally order but man I would order this again in a heart beat! Creamy, delicious and the shrimp was a nice addition 9/10. The farmlette was a regular omlette if you are looking for something simple for brunch I'd say go with this choice 7/10. If you are looking to get your southern taste bud fix in Providence, Rhode Island I'd definitely check out this spot! Food: 8/10 Affordability: 9/10 Ambiance: 6/10

Yelp
First time eating chicken and waffles and it was worth the wait. Chicken was so crispy and flavorful on the outside ,inside meat was tender. Waffles small but spot on. Service was great people were so friendly. The drinks were strong, was taste makers night. Will be visiting again.

Derrick L.

Yelp
A decent spot for southern style cuisine. The space is cozy, though not 100% clean for both dining room and bathrooms. The wait staff were attentive though a bit rough in terms of know who had who's table - a minor gripe. Food was good though had some room for improvement. The chicken was fried perfect with juicy meat covered in a nice crispy shell. The blackened salmon was also fantastic though not too spicy. They have their own hot sauce on the table - but the bottle needed a good wiped own due to dried remnants of prior pours. The sides were hit and miss. The candied yams were good, but they were sitting in a very liquidy sauce. The greens had some shredded turkey to amp up the texture but lacked overall flavor. The mac and cheese similarly had light flavor and needed something else. The worst were the mashed potatoes which were in need of salt. Overall, none were bad but just barely missing the mark. Overall not a bad spot, but there was room for improvement!

Yelp
Came here for a book club event, sat in the back room near the kitchen and enjoyed a cocktail and some shared appetizers. I had a pulled pork slider which was really delicious, and my friends said the fried chicken wings were amazing! The cocktail I chose was called Black Girl Magic, named for the edible glitter and black color made from the liquor mixed with the lemonade - highly recommend! Service was friendly, attentive & quick.

Yelp
The Catfish was cooked perfect and the potato salad was delicious. I had the opportunity in meeting the cook David which did an amazing job on the food. The host Teddy greeted me very professionally at the door. Both waitress Razzie and waiter Mitchell provided me with above and beyond service. The DJ was jamming and the crowd that was in here is laid back and everyone enjoying the vibe and ambiance of this place. I will definitely be back here because eating Catfish around the country you learn the difference in Sway and Catfish and this is real Catfish.

Yelp
To start, service was average at best. My gf and I ordered the bacon Caesar salad, fried chicken sliders, and biscuits to share. The Caesar salad had about half a length of a piece of bacon crumbled up aka barely any. The dressing for the Caesar salad weirdly came in plastic containers. The salad tasted fine, nothing special. Next, the fried chicken sliders were the most disappointing bite of the night. The bread to chicken ratio was awful, the chicken was dryer than the Sahara Desert, there were no tomatoes (which was listed on the menu), and there was one dot of Old Bay sauce on each slider. Lastly, the biscuits were decent. We are originally from Virginia where soul food is objectively better. These biscuits had an odd after taste and the honey butter was bland, gritty, and added nothing to the biscuits. They low-key resembled biscuits from Pillsbury. The one highlight was the drink! A nice blend of pineapple and rum, great flavors. I would not come back if you are looking for authentic soul food.

Rachel M.

Yelp
so very good. The employees were awesome and super sweet. Cannot beat the food or drinks. Will not say it's the healthiest food but I don't think that's what you are going for there. Southern comfort at its best! The vibes were great inside too and was nicely decorated.

Sarah L.

Yelp
Terrible experience here with lackluster food. We waited almost one hour for our food to arrive. We were hoping the food would make up for this, but the food was very mediocre. We ordered the Fried Catfish with Baked Mac n Cheese and Mashed Potatoes, and the Chicken Sandwich. The fries were not crispy at all, just mushy. The chicken was dry and tough and could only be saved by being doused in ketchup. The fried catfish was good, but there was so little sauce to come with it. The mac n cheese was extremely salty and the mashed potatoes lacked any flavor. I absolutely will not return here. Waiting one hour for mediocre food is not okay. Maybe short staffed but still not worth the visit. There was no apology for the long wait, and the server seemed to touch our foods with her hands as she brought it over. Really disappointed.

Elena A.

Yelp
We went for a friend's birthday last night and I can't get over this food, I couldn't stop eating! The cornbread and biscuits were out of this world, drinks were great and the server, Razzie was so helpful and sweet. If you like collard greens, GET THEM HERE. The catfish with greens and Mac n' Cheese was a perfect bite. The home made hot sauce brought it all home. The fried chicken, the shrimp po' boy, the ribs.... I will be thinking about this meal for a long time. So happy I had leftovers for one more bite this morning.

Rose Q.

Yelp
Went back during the summer. Food was still great, but ran out off biscuits. They forget one of my friend's order, she didn't want to make a big deal so she end up only ate a side. The most disappointing part is that there are a lot of big flies inside the restaurant and they were coming for our food and drinks. Not good experience at all.

Maisune E.

Yelp
so my friends say that there could be more spice in the food and i'm sure they're right. i did still very much enjoy my plate and would come here again for some southern cuisine. i had greens, chicken, and mac. the server was very kind. the vibe is cute in the heart of downcity. i secretly carry around a bottle of hot sauce anyways ;)

Natalia B.

Yelp
I really recommend this place if: You like to sit at the bar and be ignored by a bartender You like to finally get your drinks and when you ask for a second round, you wait for another 15 minutes You like to to wait for your food for over an hour (Caesar salad, blackened salmon, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese You like your food is tasteless and looks awful Then, by all means... Kin southern food is your place

Peter S.

Yelp
Great place for southern comfort food in Rhode Island! Wait staff was super friendly and attentive. The biscuits with honey butter was unique and I highly recommend. Generally speaking, everything we ordered tasted like a recipe passed down through generations rather than a generic recipe.

Walter R.

Yelp
For a restaurant like this, they deserve 5 stars. Probably because the pork ribs were the I have ever eaten! Both sides were good- mashed potatoes and macaroni & cheese (very good). Prices are very reasonable. My manhattan drink was done awesomely.

Tyaisha A.

Yelp
I want to support black owned, but the food at Kin is not giving, I learned how to cook from grandma or mama. Greens tasted like vinegar, Mac, mash no seasoning, yam were hard and to boot the service was questionable. Let's not forget the chicken still had its feathers. Never again..

Evon S.

Yelp
Loved this place!!! I was visiting and the staff and even patrons at the bar were welcoming and very friendly. The drinks were fast and very well made. The entire staff was lovely and even recommended things to do in Providence. I enjoyed the drinks, service, and ambiance. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Alex S.

Yelp
Best lunch I've had in a while! It was our first time at Kin Southern Table and Bar and I'm so glad we came in. We started off with drinks and then I got the lunch special: chicken wings (honey garlic sauce on top was insanely good) with mac and cheese and corn bread - this is truly fantastic food at a price that can't be beat. My boyfriend got the catfish po boy. We both loved our food so much! Our bartender was fantastic & had such great energy. We'll definitely be back! Thanks again!

Maddy G.

Yelp
Went without a reservation on a Tuesday night and were seated right away, but after that, the service was extremely slow. It seemed they had only 1 person working as the hostess, bartender, and waitress for the bar-area seating. She was working hard, but the kitchen took about an hour to get out our food for a table of 2...so probably don't go here on a first date in case you run out if things to talk about! The decor was fun and the playlist was amazing, but there were fruit flies annoying us and other customers. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the burger, both were delicious! I loved the sauces on both, they really make those dishes stand out from other restaurants, not to mention the mac and cheese on the burger! Overall I would go back for Southern comfort food if I was looking for a long brunch with friends, but not a quick bite after work

George T.

Yelp
So, I am delighted to update my initial review KIN from last summer. At that time, I stopped by, very excited to try some authentic southern soul food. But on that unfortunate visit, despite really wanting to give a good review, I couldn't because the service was so slow I actually had to leave after waiting nearly an hour when the restaurant wasn't even busy. BUT, this time, KIN was a delight. Lovely staff, great conversation, and delicious wings with homemade honey garlic sauce (be ready, it's sticky!). It's a great and unique atmosphere. A truly Black-owned and mostly Black staffed place. Highly recommend!

Lara K.

Yelp
If you're in the mood for Southern comfort food in a fresh setting, Kin is the place. We shared the biscuits with honey butter - just delicious. My colleagues got the generous shrimp po'boy which looked messy to eat, but they said it was delicious. I envied their fries - well done and perfect. I got the fried chicken and waffles, but made the mistake of asking for boneless chicken. It ended up a little dry; the bone-in might have been better. It came with honey butter and syrup. Wash it all down with sweet tea. It doesn't get much better! Service was friendly and efficient.

Victoria K.

Yelp
I had a really fantastic first visit at Kin and can't wait to return! First of all, it's deceivingly larger inside than you would imagine at first glance. Our server was very friendly and helpful, and service was pretty fast (although we arrived before the dinner rush officially started). Both my dining companion and I tried the catfish and we both LOVED it. The collard greens are a can't miss. I also consider myself to be a macaroni and cheese connoisseur, and the mac and cheese here was also a solid thumbs up. The biscuits were delicious though a bit different from what I expected. They were less soft and flaky, and more crunchy (also square biscuits versus round ones). They were still really good and the honey butter is totally worth every calorie to slather on top. They have really creative and delicious cocktails too. I loved the Black Girl Magic and would happily order it again (it's sparkly!). I'm so happy I had an opportunity to try Kin and definitely hope to return soon.

Valerie N.

Yelp
This place is DELICIOUS. We had fried green tomatoes and biscuits to start. We were hydrated with a couple of cocktails, which were delicious. For entrees, had the chicken sandwich, ribs, and collard greens and Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location and ambiance were comfortable and inviting. We loved it. In addition, the decor and furniture were perfect. Looking forward to coming here again!

Rick T.

Yelp
Beyond description good!!! If you love Southern food you will adore this place!!! The sweet tea is legit, the real deal, Mac & cheese...what can I say??? And the vornbread with honey butter, DAMN!!!

Chelsea S.

Yelp
It was alright, the chicken was really flavorful but the sides were a little weak. I liked the candied yams and macaroni but the coleslaw was hard to eat and the potato salad was eh. It wasn't bad but it didn't blow me away

Sophia B.

Yelp
- recently went for lunch and I got the juju cocktail and it was amazing , everything was spot on . The service was A1 very sweet and atmosphere was to die for .

Lauren J.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place! I had put my name in for 2 over at The George, but there was a wait, so my brother and I wandered. We came upon Kin Southern Table and figured we should go here instead. Southern food! Black owned! Good music! Yes, please! We were waiting in line at the host stand to get seats at the bar when someone breezed past us and sat right in the middle of 3 open seats. Luckily, there was a two top in the back of the restaurant. We sat down and brought up the QR code menus. Let me just say that service was really slow. I ordered a glass of wine and my brother ordered a beer and it took 20 minutes to get them. That's about 5 minutes after the guy next to us who ordered a mixed drink after we had placed our order. Not sure how the bar operates, but ok. I put in my order for my 2nd glass of wine before I finished my first, just in case. For food, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and my bro ordered the shrimp po boy. We were right next to the kitchen, so I could see that his po boy sat there for several minutes before my chicken was ready. I understand wanting to serve folks at one time, but it was weird having a view into his food just sitting there. Anyways - food came. My brother really liked his shrimp po boy. He said the shrimp was juicy and cooked well. The portion was big, so he didn't finish all of the breading, but certainly ate all of the shrimp! That was the good news. The bad news was that my fried chicken was so dry. I took 2 bites and sent it back. I was asked if I wanted to get anything else, which was nice, but at that point (my brother had his food, things were slow and they were closing soon), I said no thanks and had my liquid dinner (wine). The host came over and asked how everything was, so I said "fine" with a smile. She then said she was the owner and to let her know if we needed anything. If she had mentioned earlier that she was the owner, I would have told her about the issues. I'm not one of those people who will say everything is fine and then go off and write a less-than-stellar review. Since I thought she was a host, I wasn't going to "bother her" with my issues, so I said all was well. If I had known she was the owner, I would have said more. Oh, well. To be honest, I'm glad this place has good reviews and seems to be doing well. Maybe it was just an off night. Since I don't live in the area, I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
I recently dined at Kin and it was a complete disaster. Firstly, the food was subpar, lacking in flavor and poorly cooked. Secondly, the service was atrocious; it took forever to get put in our orders and even longer for the food to arrive (mind you, we ordered 2 orders of cornbread as an appetizer and it took an hour and we only received 1 order). The drinks were weak and uninspired, adding insult to injury. To top it off, the manager was incredibly rude and unaccommodating when we voiced our concerns. And don't get me started on their outrageous policy of requiring a 20% tip for parties of five or more, which goes against industry standards. I would've had no problem tipping 20% if I received amazing service, but that was NOT the case. Overall, it was a nightmare of an experience, and I would strongly advise against ever dining there.

Elayna B.

Yelp
We dined February 24th and had a 5:30 reservation. We arrived at 5:25 and were greeted and sat at 5:30. That would be the last time we interacted with anyone. We had a show down the street at 7 pm so we weren't in a hurry but also didn't have all night. Unfortunately I didn't get to try the food and I was looking forward to some cocktails too. No one came over and acknowledged us, not even to bring water. We deliberately made eye contact with a few employees but they just walked by. We felt invisible. After 30 minutes we got up and left. It seemed as if no one even knew we were getting up and leaving even though employees saw us gathering our things. We walked out and unfortunately I did not get to try this place.

William H.

Yelp
I ordered the honey garlic wings with a side of yams and Mac & cheese. The food was really good but we ended up waiting for 40 minutes between ordering and the food arriving. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy so we were confused as to why it took so long. The restaurant is pretty cute there's a front area with the bar and in the back area you'll find larger tables. It was the first Saturday of the month and so there is also music off to the side of the restaurant. Overall I'd go back but I just hope the wait isn't as long.

Ramon A.

Yelp
Overall - really good soul food set to 90s hip hop and r&b Food - drinks first the Arnold palmer was good. We ordered the Fried catfish (fried well but minimal seasoning, good) with Mac and cheese (seasoned well, a little dry but tasted great, recommend and will order again) and yams (great in every way, recommend and will order again), and Crispy chicken wings (really good). Service - regular service was provided in terms of speed and courtesy, the food came out pretty fast. Location - located at the corner of Washington St and Union St, there is street parking and a parking lot on the same block. Ambiance - country southern chic blue and white motif with hip hop music playing in background. We enjoyed this meal jamming out the entire time.

Joseph S.

Yelp
Our first visit and if service had been on par - easily 5 stars. We dined early as we were headed to a movie so not busy when we got there but fairly busy when we left. Cocktails are quite good and priced well ($10 - $12). Getting the first round was quite slow. We ordered the "bucket of biscuits" which were heavenly and huge - no couple could eat all 4. Entrees were chicken sandwich (w/ a huge mountain of fries - seriously they should cut this portion in half) - $16 - and the fried chicken wings w/ 2 sides - $18 - I got collard greens (with turkey!) and baked mac and cheese. These were OUTSTANDING. And their price points are too low for this quality and quantity of food. The service issues - biscuits arrived after the entrees (may have not been included on our bill...) and another cocktail showed up as we were about to leave. Both items required us to remind the server. Food 5/5 Service 2/5 Value 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Noise 2/5 (lively which is OK but music was blaring) Decor 3/5 Damages with tip was $88. We'll be back and we hope their service issues get resolved.

Skimmilk K.

Yelp
I think the prior reviews say a lot. The service is just lacking. The staff is either untrained in food service or maybe they don't want to be there. We were seated and no one told us where to get menus. A very small sign showed a QR code to scan so we figured it out ourselves. They also forgot our appetizer and we had to ask for it when we got our meals. The food was ok. The catfish itself was great but the mac and cheese just lacked any flavor. My boyfriend felt his chicken was tough although the fries were tasty. Overall just inconsistent.

Marcus G.

Yelp
I had a great lunch at Kin. I would've taken a photo but I started eating that jawn mad fast and didn't stop. Ordered the fried catfish, Mac and cheese, and candied yams. Essentials, if you will. Macs were cooked perfect, still had body and not mushy. Yams were also cooked perfectly. A slightly thinner cut than I expected or am used to but it made them cook well which I can't complain about. Fish was crazy. Perfectly fried, seasoned, and presented with tarter sauce and the house made hot sauce. Flakey, buttery, flavorful, and rich. Breading was crispy, well-seasoned, and profound. Macs- 8/10. Cooked well, could've used salt by itself, but a perfect balance if you have it with other salty things (fish, chicken, etc). Yams- 8.3/10. Again, cooked perfectly. Paired well with the macs. Fish- 9/10. Just very good. Also got the lemonade which was fantastic. A little sweet for my personal taste but easily cut with some water and perfect. 8/10 The service was fast and attentive. Our server gave us great suggestions and even took some late side additions to the order and brought them out quick. Vibes in the spot were great. They made us feel right at home and spoke to us with such patience and respect. Our experience at Kin was great and we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I had high hopes coming here and trying some southern food, but was ultimately disappointed. The chicken sandwich did not have any flavor whatsoever and the hot sauce they gave us for it was mediocre. The waffle also did not have any flavor, but the chicken wings were the best part of the meal. I'm not sure how they cook their chicken for the sandwich compared to the wings but the wings were 1000x better. The restaurant is pretty, big and clean, but the customer service was also lackluster. When we first arrived it took them about 20 mins to get us a menu and another 15 to get us water and our food took over an hour. I also noticed another party that arrived a bit after us were never acknowledged and they ended up leaving after waiting for a long time. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place due to how long everything it took and just not being worth it due to poor taste.

Grace M.

Yelp
Really great experience all around! Stopped in for a quick bite at the bar and the service and food were terrific. Super friendly waitstaff.

Molly B.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Such a friendly welcoming vibe with knock out food and drinks. The wings are SO good!!! Super cute bar area with a dining room in the back. The service was quick and attentive. Definitely don't miss this place!

Ana J.

Yelp
The black girl magic drink was so good. The honey garlic chicken wings were delicious! I wasn't pleased with the other food items. I ordered blackened salmon, yams, and macaroni & cheese. The blackened salmon was burnt, scorched, crispy... I had to send it back. The yams also tasted like they were burned, I also sent those back. I opted for the fried catfish after the burned salmon and that was no better. It tasted like it was cooked in old burned grease and it wasn't seasoned. I'm from the south and have a certain expectation for my greens and macaroni and this just wasn't it. Very cute restaurant and very good drinks.

Yelp
Great Food and Great Service. I love the food here the fried catfish is to die for and the cornbread is out of this world. The drinks are fun and dangerously easy to drink

Yelp
Went there on a busy night with some friends. Asked them to push two tables together and they kindly obliged. We all got some drinks to start and it took a pretty long time for us to get them but it looked like the bar was a little short-staffed. Drinks were great. Waiter was a young guy who wasn't particularly attentive but nice enough. Drinks were solid as was the food. I got the catfish, which was seasoned well and perfectly fried. The catfish entree comes with two sides, so I got the mac and cheese and the collard greens with smoked turkey. Mac and cheese was good. Collard greens were also tasty but a pretty sweet and a touch too salty. The rest of the group liked their food overall. I'd be interested in trying some of their other dishes.

Yelp
Drinks were good. Fried green tomatoes were ok? Needed more seasoning. Catfish, again it was ok...needed a little more seasoning and I question if it was a bit undercooked. The mashed potatoes were dry, they should consider gravy (as a good southern would), worst of all was the Mac and cheese! Yuck! Dessert was great!! We know southern soul food and maybe it's just not great up here. Staff was nice, the space was nice and again drinks were good and worth stopping in for a cocktail.

Yelp
Went recently for dinner before a show. Asked for a custom drink and it came out awesome. Ordered the fried green tomatoes, catfish, and a shimp po'boy. Everything tasted great. Loved the drinks and the food. Great business and convenient location. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.

Yelp
FO SHO YAH RIGHT ON! I recently dined at Kin and was thoroughly impressed. The service was exceptional, the food burst with flavor, and the comfortable environment made the experience memorable. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The owner was extremely nice and courteous. The shrimp and grits leaves a desire for more shrimp and less grits. The flavors were spot on, but the proportions were a little off. The garden salad was fresh, but they only had ranch dressing. I think this place has potential, just give them time.

Yelp
Providence is great food city but This is the worst experience I've had in pvd in 16 years. Terrible service. Took 1 hour for food. Bland. Small portions. Door open and very cold inside. Avoid!!!

Yelp
Came in from out of town for a 6:30 reservation. I was told that we would have to sit in the front or outside. When I explained it was too cold and I would wait for something to open up in the back, the host told me I wouldn't ever be able to sit in the back because its only for larger parties. When I asked if he could close the door, he said he could not. It is currently 52 degrees outside and raining. Needless to say, we left.

Yelp
Stopped in for Lunch.. what a nice clean and modern space. Staff was very friendly.. We ordered the BLT and Fried Chicken sandwich with a side of greens.. THE GREENS! like smack my mama! They were some of the best greens I've had in a very very long time.. The sandwiches both had thick slabs of bacon.. the BLT had a delicate balance of both sweet and savory with notes of honey.. the chicken was fried perfectly with a nice tangy sauce.. both came with a large heap of fresh cut fries! Get their homemade hot sauce!! I'd put that sh!t on everything... You've got to give Kin a try.. Looking forward to trying more of their menu offerings!

Yelp
Wow I was extremely disappointed on my first night visiting providence. We placed an order over the phone for pickup. Upon arrival the "system kicked out" our order and we waited another 30 mins for our food. The food was underwhelming. I couldn't tell if the sweet potatoes were French fries or carrots. The Mac and cheese had a weird flavor to it which was weird because it was bland. The fish was fried well but that was it. Surprised that it was only one piece for the price of the me. If you're looking for southern food this isn't that. This is a take on southern food that unfortunately didn't go well with me and my dinner party.

Yelp
We drove up from Boston to meet with family and thought it might be nice to make reservations to eat at Kin's since we all love southern cooking. I'll get right to the point. We had a 5 o'clock reservation and waited over an hour for our dinner after placing our order. The place was understaffed and had one waitress working the entire dining area. Twice she came back to our table to tell us they had run out of certain food items we had ordered. I had wanted to catfish, which they ran out of after I ordered it. My wife and my son's girlfriend had ordered the collard greens, which they also ran out of. This can happen at any restaurant but we weren't informed that they had run out of these items until about 25 minutes after we had placed our order. After waiting more than 45 minutes, our waitress asked us if we would like to purchase an appetizer since we had waited so long. She was confident that she could get that to us sooner. You would think it would be on the house but no, we were offered the option to buy more food as a resolution. When we finally got our food, about 30 minutes later, we were reminded by our waitress and the person who seated us that while they felt bad it took so long to get our food to us, they needed us to hurry and finish because we had been there a long time and they needed our table for other patrons. It got so bad that as soon as we finished one thing, someone came to remove the used plate or utensil. To add insult to injury, because we were a party of 5, the tip was automatically applied to our bill so there was no recourse there. My son and his girlfriend, who had dined with us, shared our concerns with the restaurant owner who gave them her email and encouraged them to contact her so she could make it right. But this seems a bit disingenuous in my opinion when you take into consideration she was actually one of the people who apologized for the food taking so long. She was also one of the people who told us we needed to move along because they had patrons with reservations waiting for our seats. The people running the restaurant didn't seem like bad people but it was clear they were in over their heads. The food was alright, however the yams were too hard and cooked in an overly sweet syrup. I hope the owner(s) consider hiring more experienced people to manage their facility. I love southern cooking and would love to see them succeed. But based on my experience, I would never return. FYI, I apologize for any typos, it's been a long day.
