The Best Restaurants in San Francisco’s Tenderloin Neighborhood | Eater SF

"Chicken 69 is one of those mythical dishes that runs across borders and cultures. Kinara’s rendition of the bright red dish is a jaw-dropper. The Instagram-friendly restaurant is a family affair, owner Shahil Patel and his four brothers doling out South Asian fusion dishes to all the flocking viral diners." - Paolo Bicchieri

Try the Chicken 69 at Tenderloin Indiane Restaurant Kinara Fusion - Eater SF

"Kinara Fusion sits at the edge of the Tenderloin and Nob Hill and has gotten a good amount of attention since it reopened last year. So much so that they expanded the restaurant into the space next door. Needless to say, the restaurant’s been busy, and for good reason: Shahil Patel and his four brothers are delivering a flurry of South Asian flavors primed for Bay Area diners who crave tradition alongside innovation. Kinara’s inventive dishes and Bollywood-themed decor have been featured on Check, Please Bay Area! and numerous viral Tik-Tok and Instagram videos. But despite the bright neon signs and the mural of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan prominently displayed in the back, the restaurant’s real star is a simple appetizer: Chicken 69." - Antony Fangary

Quick update: the pizza tastes better when reheated! We ordered more than we could eat and just ate the leftover pizza for dinner. The flavors came out stronger with a day in the fridge and reheated in the oven. 👌 ---- We had a wonderful meal at Kinara. It was less fusion than we were expecting, but super flavorful dishes. Highly recommend the appetizers -- we thoroughly enjoyed the pani puri shots and the cauliflower Manchurian (warning ⚠️: it is spicy! 🌶️). The gulab jamun was also really flavorful and not cloyingly sweet like I've experienced in the past. Personally we found the green lantern chicken a little dry (although fine with the dipping sauces) and the curry for MVP pizza a less curry-forward that we expected (but not bad by any means). The pricing is very reasonable and every dish was very flavorful. A lot of tables near us were ordering the fire fries, which we'll have to order next time we visit. I would also guess that their curries are really good. Slightly lower marks for the service since it was a bit slow to begin with, but once we ordered the food came out very quickly. This is a hidden gem dinner option to add to the rotation. 👏

First time visiting San Francisco and this restaurant. Very busy for a Friday night. Our waiter, Rahil P., was so nice and helpful in picking out food. Amazing decor and atmosphere. Very well lit. We ordered the Desi chicken wings, the mixed platter, and fire fries with chicken. The mixed platter included chicken boti, beef boti, tandoori chicken, and lamb chops. Food was amazing. Very flavorful. Kashmiri chai served on Fridays and Saturdays. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting San Francisco.

Great ambiance with Instagram-worthy decor. The food presentation is top-notch, and the service was excellent throughout. The samosa chaat was flavorful, and the ribs, while tender, were a bit too heavy on the BBQ sauce for my taste. The chicken tikka masala was decent, though not a standout. I wasn’t too fond of the naan, but overall, the experience was enjoyable. I’d definitely go back!

One of the best restaurants we have been too! The staff are so incredibly friendly and the owner is amazing. We enjoyed everything. The new dishes were amazing. We were so happy with everything. It's a must have stop when you are in Bay Area

Google
I really dig this place. The atmosphere is nice. The food is ambitious and over all good. It just feels like some of their new takes on certain things needs a little tweaking. The BBQ ribs were delicious but could have done with a bit of sweetness to round out the tang. Overall, very good though. The green lantern chicken was fantastic and the mocktails were great. Staff was friendly but seemed just a tad overwhelmed.

3 brother's with a story, serving trend setting and flavourful cuisine. Chicken 69 and their naans are a must try. Great service, ambiance and will visit again !

We had dinner at Kinara while visiting SF. I live in Sacramento and I heard this place had pretty good pakistani food. To my disappointment, the food looked great but didn't taste great. I wish I had gone around the corner to Pakwan instead. We ordered the mixed grill, karahi chicken, biriyani, nihari, chicken 65, gol guppa shots and a burger and of course naans. The mixed grill had an assortment of overcooked/dried chicken, lamb and beef kabobs; nothing on this plate was right. The karahi chicken was ok but nothing special. The biriyani, nihari, and chicken 65 were pretty good. The naan was probably the best thing we ate. My kid ordered a dragon/mango mocktail that tasted like fruit punch with soda water; don't order the mocktails. All the food looked great but didn't deliver on taste. Skip this place and try the other pakistani places a block away.

Absolutely amazing food! Best South East Asian I’ve had in San Francisco. Atmosphere was stellar and service was on point. Parking was a bit of a headache but that was on par with the rest of the city: 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
This restaurant has a great vibe to it, along with the food being amazing, the owner is a very down to earth gentlemen who cares deeply about his clients and offers nothing but the highest quality to his guest. Would recommend booking in advance. ITS THAT WORTH IT.

Yelp
All I can say is WOW! This place is incredible. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Definitely order the cheese kabob appetizer... literally everything we ordered was delicious. I was surprised they'd only been open 4 years, as the food tasted like a local institution. My brother who is a connoisseur of Indian food all around the country gave this place very high marks as well. Don't skip it! It was very busy but they still sat us before our reservation and the food came out fast. We'll be back for sure. Thanks for brilliant food made with love and great service.

Yelp
Everything about Kinara Fusion was fantastic: food, service, and ambiance. Street parking I'm the area is a hit or miss depending when you go. My friends and I went on a rainy weekend so we found parking 2 blocks away. Didn't have reservations but fortunately it was a short 10 minute wait. The restaurant was packed, bustling and so lovely. We ordered: 1. Pani Puri shots, packed with flavor and crunch (5/5) 2. Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza, just ok, couldn't taste the tikka Masala or maybe I was expecting it to be saucier? 3. Lamb biriyani (5/5) so good and spicy... a bit too spicy for me haha 4. Chai (5/5) really enjoyed it Would love to go back and try other items.

Yelp
Kinara Restaurant delivers a dining experience with really strong flavors that stand out. The dishes are perfectly seasoned, never too salty, and some items can be a little too spicy, but it adds to the authentic feel of the cuisine. The ambiance of the restaurant enhances the overall experience, making you feel like you're dining in a traditional setting. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant visit. If you visit, the Faluda is a must-try--I'm already craving more. This dessert is rich, refreshing, and the perfect way to end your meal. Highly recommend Kinara for anyone looking for a flavorful and authentic pakaistani-indian meal.

Yelp
I guess we gobbled up the "Chicken 69 bites," which are spicy boneless chicken bites cooked in marinated curry leaves, before I could even take a photo. It was probably my favorite dish of the night. The pani puri shots were a great appetizer as well. I liked the "Curry for MVP" fusion pizza and the lamb biryani as well. The restaurant is super cute with the instagramable walls. The servers are pretty speedy and look sleek like agents from "Men in Black" with their ear pieces. The food was very flavorful as you would hope from an Indian restaurant. They execute the Indian fusion concept very well. It was within walking distance to August Hall where we saw a concert later that night.

Yelp
Best Indian fusion place in the area! A little sketchy to go at night but just don't walk around the area too much! Pani puri: SO GOOD, I've never had pani that tasted this good that wasn't in India. It was stuffed with the potato and Chana and it was spicey and just everything I wanted. We also tried the green pizza with chicken and the sauce was actually spicy. It had great flavor and one pizza was plenty for the 4 of us with an appetizer and another dish.

Yelp
I came here with a friend before we went to a concert in the area. We got 2 appetizers and 2 non-alcoholic drinks--I liked my mango lassi. Flavor had depth--it was thick and complex. My friend enjoyed her Peach Paradise. The Chicken Samosas were good, but the highlight of the meal was The Fire Fries. The toppings were so good and unique. The interior decor is very lush and warm, as was the service. Will be back to try more items.

Yelp
The food here was so delicious. I'm salivating thinking about it. My friend recommended this place to me, saying it's a good introduction into Indian food given how well they do Indian fusion, and I couldn't agree more. We ordered the Chicken 69 Bites, Fire Fries with Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Cheese Naan, and Watermelon Falls Mocktail. The Chicken 69 bites were so flavorful and tender, and the garlic cheese naan was the best naan I've ever had, chewy and soft and tasted like pizza. I loved all the toppings on the fire fries as well. The watermelon falls mocktail was super cute with the Sour Patch Kid on top and very refreshing. The portions were huge and prices were very reasonable for SF! I'd recommend making a reservation in the future. We walked in and were told there'd be about 1 hour wait, so we walked a couple blocks down to sip on boba while we were waiting. I'd definitely bring other people here in the future to dine again.

Yelp
Updated review: this place takes the science of making meals and turns into an artform! Customer service was just as great and top notch, the staff asked me if they could help with things before I even thought about needing it! Food to dessert to mocktails deliver on taste and variety, and the presentation allows you to feast your eyes - literally. Vibe is great as a dinner spot and pro-tip: recommend considering a ride share since parking can be tricky.

Yelp
Amazing food, excellent service and very ambience. I have visited this place twice and every time food as well as experience is getting better. I had ordered cauliflower Manchurian, pani puri, kadai chicken, paneer gravy and chili garlic naan. Chili garlic naan is bit spicy so be careful before ordering if you are not like that level of spice.

Yelp
Kinara is a go-to Indian-Pakistani fusion spot in SF that I recommend and take friends whenever possible. Tenderloin has a plethora of good food options with Kinara definitely making that list. Staff has always been friendly and the inside has such a fun ambiance. My personal favorite dishes are the chicken 69 and then pani puri shots (non alcoholic hehe). They both never fail to hit the spot for me. We have also gotten the garlic naan and chicken tikka masala which never fails to hit the spot of course. Their drinks are super sugary and good but I would skip personally the next time I go. Pro: their food is all halal! So take your halal friends here and/or yourself if you're also halal! I definitely think you should rush over to try Kinara if you haven't already!

Yelp
My family came here for a Father's Day dinner. It's a happening scene here. We were very happy with our experience. You can just taste the difference when the people care about the food. Reasonably priced, good portions, and so delicious. We like to go out for food that we can't make ourselves. The dishes were wonderfully complex. Our daughter doesn't eat meat only fish and veges. We satisfied her totally. The tandoori fish was fantastic. I say get in there and support this business. These folks deserve success. They care.

Yelp
I recently dined at Kinara Fusion and had an exceptional experience. We tried a variety of dishes, including the Mix Grill - 8/10 Chicken 69 - 9/10 Firecracker Wings - 10/10 Rogan Josh - 6/10 Chilli Cheese Naan, and Chili Garlic Naan, and every item was delicious. What truly set this restaurant apart was the outstanding service. The servers went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dining experience. They checked on us regularly and even accommodated our request to adjust one of the dishes to our liking. The owner also deserves special mention for their generosity. To make up for a mistake, they kindly offered us a complimentary dessert, which was a delightful surprise. The only downside was the location. Unfortunately the outside of the restaurant has an unpleasant odor. Despite this, Kinara Fusion is an amazing place to dine, thanks to its fantastic food and exceptional service!!

Yelp
This place can get crowded so would recommend making a reservation! I loved the inside decor - it felt very hip and exciting! I was so excited to try the fusion indian / Pakistani food. I tried the curry for mvp pizza and the tandoori fish. My favorite was definitely the pizza. The pizza was super cheesy and had such good flavor! The cheese and the tika masala sauce balanced each other well, and you could really taste the tandoori chicken flavor. The tandoori fish was good too but it was definitely pretty spicy. I'd recommend ordering the pizza more than the tandoori if you can't handle too much spice.

Yelp
Pleasantly Surprised!! Its a small restaurant, and can get crowded, so make a reservation before you go! The ambience is unique - reminded me of movies that show India in the 80s with dark colored walls and colonial chandeliers. I loved it! The food is DELICIOUS and AFFORDABLE! We ordered the pani puri shots which were served in cute shot glasses. The pani could have used a little more sweet tamarind chutney, but was delicious overall. The samosa chat and veggie biryani were mediocre. The chilli naan was the HIGHLIGHT for me - super soft and moist on the inside, with a crisp buttery layer up top. The sweet aftertaste of the naan cut the instant hotness of chili :) We ordered the pizza, and our server was nice enough to let us do half vegetarian, and half chicken. Pizza was sumptuous - lots of cheese, good bread and amazing Indian flavors. Service was quick and the servers accommodated customization requests. Would definitely go again to try some of the desserts on the menu!

Yelp
Kinara was interesting. I was excited to try this spot based on recommendations but felt it was lacking. I wanted to order online for pick up but NONE of the services that they offered (Chow Now, Grubhub, etc) was allowing it. I would try to place an order and it would say "This menu isnt available right now". I had to wait until Kinara was opened and placed a phone order to go. Food was packed on time. The garlic Naan was very THICK, not what I was used to. The curries were both watery and not thick. Very opposite of what I was used to. Not sure if the curries are only meant for 1 person. The chicken tikka masala only had 6 pieces of cubed chicken. Only 3 small pieces each when I shared with my hubby. Very sad. The location is sketch too but for take out, hopped in and out. Streets are dirty with human waste and smells all around.

Yelp
Love the twist on Pakistani food! The food is unique and presented very well. The service is also good and quick, and they have a cute ambiance with the interior design. I had the tandoori chicken, pani pori shots, firery fries, and chicken waffles..... my favorite were the fries and the pani puri shots. All the food was very filling!

Yelp
I went there last night with some friends - it is a good spot for large groups (~10). My favorite was pani puri shots and the vegetarian paneer pizza. The masala soda is like shikanji and it was yummy. My friend tried the mango Mojito, but it wasn't that good. For North Indian cuisine, we ordered Bindi masala, which was good, but a bit too oily. We also ordered the paneer masala dish - I like the gravy of the dish but not the quality/taste of the paneer. We ordered a mix-set of naans for the table - three chilli garli, one cheese, one garlic naan, and that was enough for the table of 9. I liked the chili garlic naan the most as It wasn't too spicy. The cheese naan is very much like a cheese pizza and not ideal to eat with curry. For desserts, we got gulab jamun and it was soooo good - very soft and flavorful. The vanilla falooda dessert was not good and tasted very artificial (thumbs down) The place is inexpensive and has a nice ambiance. Id recommend ordering the pizzas, pani puri shots and gulab jamun.

Yelp
Loved this place! Kinara is a modern Indian Fusian restaurant with classic Indian dishes as well as some modern twists of burgers, pizza, and more. I loved the menu, there was so many options that looked great, including a lot of vegetarian options. I tried the Cauliflower Manchurian, Chicken Dum Biryani, and the Mix Grill. The Cauliflower Manchurian was so tasty, it had a sweet and spicy sauce and it was really filling for a vegetarian dish. I recommend this one for an appetizer to share with a group. The biryani was really good too, and they finished the presentation tableside with naan on top. I liked the style of it, where you had to mix the gravy in the rice to eat it. The Mix Grill had a lot of meat, and lots of varieties to try. My favorite was the lamb chops, I probably would just get that next time. I also enjoyed the smoky flavor of the chicken. Overall, loved the service, ambiance, and the place was pretty full on a Thursday night. I would love to come back here and try more options on their menu!

Yelp
My gf and I were walking to a different restaurant but it was closed so we were going to walk back to the car when we saw this place. We were so lucky that they had an open table and took us in. Right from the start the service was amazing. One: they took us in when it was reservation only. Two: our servers would check up on us and make sure our water was always filled. Three: Our server gave us the best recommendations to try. Definitely a 4.5 for service. The food was amazing. I think the Paneer Tiki Masala was the best out of any Indian place I've been too. It paired really well with the basmati and garlic naan. My gf really liked the garlic naan; she said it was the best she's ever had from any Indian restaurant. The Rohan Ghost was also really good. The lamb was so tender and the sauce was really good. But the star for us was those Desi Chicken Wings. The wings were 12 dollars but they were good sized chicken wings. My gf and I tore them up. We also got drinks to go with our food. I had the Mocktail, Watermelon Falls, and my gf had the Chai Tea (a special one only served on Fridays and Saturdays). The Watermelon Falls reminded me of a watermelon margarita and the chai was so creamy. The Chai had nuts on the top of the drink and the floral taste was not to strong. The food is definitely a 5. The place was really nice too. There are fake plants and neon lights that line the walls. There are also mirrors and small glass chandeliers in the main side of the restaurant. The restaurant is definitely a good spot to take a date out on. Just make sure, you make a reservation because it is reservations only. This part deserves a 4.

Yelp
I visited Kinara with a group of 6 people on a Monday looking for some warm and comforting Indian food and it did not disappoint. For apps, we got the samosas and pani puri which were both crispy and delicious. For mains, we got mixed grill, chicken tikka masala, nihari, and biryani. They were full of flavor and quite spicy. The naans were pillowy and melted in your mouth. Service was friendly and informative. Our total for everything was only $107 which is an absolute steal in SF for such quality food and comfortable dining experience.

Yelp
Without a doubt, Kinara Fusion Kitchen is the BEST Pakistani restaurant out there!!! I had been so looking forward to coming here for several weeks, and this HALAL restaurant delivered on the food and service! First of all, RESERVATIONS are required as this place is packed, so be sure to make them! My group went with the following dishes: pani puri shots, mixed grill, nihari, all meat exclusive pizza, naan, kanafeh rasmalai, and Kashmiri chai (available only on the weekends). Pani Puri Shots - $10 - This consisted of 6 shot glasses filled with a mixture of sweet and spicy chutneys, topped with hollow fried shells stuffed with potato, onion, and chickpeas. Presentation and taste were EXCELLENT! Mixed Grill - $26 - This platter consisted of well marinated pieces of boneless-chicken and beef, lamb chops, and a bone-in chicken leg and thigh piece. All of it prepared in a tandoori grill that really brought out the flavors of each item. Nihari - $16 - This was the most disappointing dish of the night. Tender pieces of slow-cooked beef were prepared with spices, ginger, garlic and long pepper. While the dish was good, the beef wasn't as tender or flavorful as some other places that I have tried. Naan - $3 - This is some of the best tasting naan that I have tried. It was so pillowy soft on the inside and crispy on the outside! All meat exclusive pizza - $17 - While this 10" pizza consisting of sausage, pepperoni, salami, red onions, olives, bell peppers, and cilantro was good taste wise, I was a little disappointed there wasn't more meat in the pizza. I also wish the pizza was a little thinner in terms of the crust. Kanafeh Rasmalai - $9 - Layers of shredded filo pastry topped rasmalai (milk cake, though it seemed more like gulab jamun to me). All of this was topped with a house made syrup and pistachios. It was a very creative dish and tasted incredible! Kashmiri chai - $5 - This is a rich and creamy Pakistani milk tea with crushed pistachio nuts. Only available on the weekends, the chef was telling us it took over 2 hours to brew. The chai was incredible and the perfect way to end a AMAZING meal!!! Overall I was impressed with the FOOD here! This place lived up to the hype. I really like the VIBE of this place. Service was stellar here as well! Our food was served promptly and efficiently, and our glasses were filled with water without even asking.

Yelp
I've been ordering delivery from here for years and they never disappoint. I'm a big fan of Chicken 65, so of course I love their chicken 69 bites. Also they do a great Indian pizza combo with their Curry for MVP. I love when restaurants can do a good Indian fusion and this place is definitely it.
google avatar

Yelp
I recently dined here and was impressed by both the quality of the food and the exceptional service. The menu offered a variety of delicious options, and each dish was prepared with care and attention to detail. From the appetizers to the desserts, every bite was a delight.
google avatar

Yelp
When you arrive, the outside is very unassuming, but once you get inside the whole place is decorated SO CUTE. There are a bunch of neon quotes everywhere and fun and inviting colors. The food was spectacular as well! The Chicken 69 (lol) was my favorite dish because of how flavorful and crisp it was. It had the right balance of tangy and spicy. Honestly, I personally could have done without the fries and pizza because I wanted more authentic Indian flavors and I felt like they were too mild. We also ordered chicken tikka masala, bhindi, and rice. (Disclaimer: one order of rice is definitely enough for 4 people!) We had enough to share and enough for everyone to take home some leftovers. The service felt a bit rushed since all the food came out at once and the waiter was hovering for us to leave. But I think this must've just been during a very busy night, so it's all good.
google avatar

Nishtha C.

Yelp
Went here on a weeknight around 7 so we got a table right away but the place was otherwise packed. As Indian people ourselves, we're a bit picky when it comes to Indian food but this place lived up to its 4.5 stars reputation for us. The food was delicious! We ordered pani puri shots, bhindi masala, chana masala and naan. We also got the masala soda and gajjar halwa ( carrot halwa). Loved everything except maybe the naan were a little on the fluffy side (which is not how they are in north india) and the gajjar halwa was a little more liquid than I prefer but that's just me being picky. The place had nice decor and ambiance. It's also very reasonably priced. Will definitely visit or order from here again!

Yelp
Kinara restaurant is an absolute delight for the taste buds! The food here is beyond amazing, offering a delightful blend of flavors that leave a lasting impression. Each dish is meticulously prepared, showcasing a perfect balance of taste and presentation. From the first bite to the last, the culinary experience at Kinara is simply exceptional. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience filled with delicious and tasteful delights.

Yelp
We got here right at our reserved time. Here is for sure a popular place. People got turned away because they didn't have a reservation. We ordered the 69 chicken, lamb curry, garlic naan, and a rice. We really like them all, even though they are all on the spicy side. The 69 chicken reminds me of some southern cuisines in China wheee they had chilly spicy sauce mixed within the batch. I really like it, the curry was for sure my favorite. It was thick, creamy and full of natural flavor. I can taste this is not from the powder, but house made. The garlic naan isn't really the traditional naans that you would see in Indian restaurants. I personally prefer the traditional one. This one kinda lacks the garlic flavor. The rice was so good as well, i forgot the name, but everything was beautiful, the presentation, the right amount of spicy. The place is cool as well, very intimate, like Al the neon lights in other languages. I would consider coming back.

Yelp
Best Desi Food in SF. I could leave a long list of all the things great with this restaurant, but I thought I would leave it with this: One night we visited Kinara and there was a gentleman there from Pakistan with his family. After trying the food he said: "This tastes like home." End of story.

Yelp
Looks like new place in sf LT . They have nice ambience. Liked their kasmiri tea . Chicken dumplings biryani is not good as aspected . Chicken boti was not well marinated

Yelp
This had been a restaurant that I had always walked by, but never realized was there because of its unassuming exterior. However, after coming here I have to say that this is probably one of SF's local secrets for Indian food. Though the exterior is pretty bland, the inside of it is well-decorated and stylish. With neon Hindi quotes on the wall and cool decorations all around, this definitely has a very chic vibe to it. If you're coming here be sure to call beforehand, as this place can fill up pretty quickly in the evening. As this is a fusion restaurant, they have some pretty interesting Indian dishes here that I haven't seen in many other places. For our food, we got the Pani Puri shots, Masala Fries, Tandoori Chicken, and the lamb chops. The Masala fries are excellent, as the fries are crispy and the whole dish is bursting in flavor. I really enjoyed the presentation of the Pani Puri shots, and it was a unique way of eating it! The tandoori chicken and lamb chops were pretty good, with lots of spices added to them. Overall, if you're a fan of Indian food then Kinara is a great place to check out! The prices are also pretty good and they give large portions.

Yelp
I can't wait to dine in in this establishment. The other night my friend ordered and I went to pick up the stuff was friendly and the Decour is inviting. I look forward to trying other dishes as much good to him as mama was sweeter than my go to but the best that I've found in the city! The Naan was perfect and fluffy.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday evening with friends bc we heard about their curry pizza and pani puri shots so we had to check it out. Service and ambience were good! We were seated very quickly because we went a little earlier. We got a whole spread of stuff. Paneer tikka masala, tandoori chicken, naan, the curry for mvp chicken pizza, and pani puri shots The paneer tikka masala, tandoori chicken and naan were pretty standard. Nothing I was especially blown away by but they were good. The pizza and pani puri shots were super unique and fun. I loved the pizza it was delicious and the sauce accompanying it was fantastic. The pani puri shots were so creative and fun and a great little appetizer.

Yelp
Good food but not that great. Very expensive for the food. Love the fact that they have charity for the people of Palestine.

Yelp
The place is packed on the weekends. It is sometimes hard to get a table. This is because the food is excellent. I went to this place, before and after the pandemic. The quality of food has not changed. I tried several items on the menu. The Falooda is an amazing. The Tandoori Fish is well made. Their pizzas are big and very filling. Customer service is good and food always arrived quickly.

Yelp
My experience at Kinara was a huge disappointment. The spice level is a bit excessive. Here is my review of items ordered tonight: Paneer tikka pizza - there is no makhani sauce on the pizza. All you can taste is cheese and paneer. Gobi manchurian - excessively large pieces led to the middle of each cauliflower florets being raw. The flavor would be okay if they didn't douse the dish in buffalo sauce. It was painful to finish it. Falooda - basically ice-cream with a side of rose syrup and ice crystals. I didn't realize I would be chomping on ice crystals while madly trying to stir the ice cream that did not want to budge. If they use milk as the primary ingredient, it would be far more enjoyable. Pani puri shots - good flavor! But $9 buys you 6 of these little tiny snacks. Masala papad - large chunks of onion and chili powder dominated the taste. Three of them were sloppily stacked so that half of the two papads at the bottom were barren. This dish is supposed to use finely chopped onions, lime juice and chaat masala for a tangy flavor. They completely missed the mark. If you want to pay $$ for a nice ambiance, that's the value of Kinara. Parking is on the edge of Tenderloin and difficult to find. The little lamps and lighting at the restaurant makes for amazing pictures of the food but it looks better than it tastes!

Yelp
The food was excellent, and every single person was awesome. Service was very attentive to each table but didn't feel overbearing. They just seems to know the timing of when to appear. I liked that they were polite and thoughtful without being too sugary. Take their recommendations, and they are even willing to offer split toppings on the pizza. Portions are amazingly generous! Per yelp reviews got th chicken 69, and it was great! We ordered the lamb biryani; did not expect then to bake a naan on top they cut open for you! The mashta naan was amazing, but note it is a tad spicy. The pizza was half Green Savior and half popular Curry MVP. Both were amazing. I think my favorite was really the amazing flatbread. It looks like they expanded their space. The wife of the couple said they were going to do some renovations to change the ambience since it is now partitioned in 3 spaces. Looking forward to seeing the renovations, but most importantly, coming back with a group! One star was taken off because they don't offer much by way of fresh green vegetables.

Yelp
I've been to this place twice now. The butter chicken and naan are amazing. The chicken sixty nine is good but be aware it is so spicy! The second time the service was a bit slow as it took 40 minutes to receive our food, but they manager came and apologized as there was a mix up. Things happen. The decor inside is so cool! Would definitely recommend to try this Indian spot if you are in San Francisco

Yelp
This should be a Michelin-rated restaurant. It's that good. The food is authentic Pakistani. The ambiance is awesome. The service is outstanding. I'm from Canada and I am not only a foodie but a Pakistani who enjoys authentic, spicy food. I was concerned when I walked in that a posh looking restaurant like this might be too Americanized. But it was far from that. Their Rogan Josh was amazing as was their Barbecue Platter. The lamb was tender and delicious. Everything was incredible-you must visit

Yelp
The food was spicy, but my date was even spicier. Hehe, but in all seriousness the chicken tikka here is like a buttery smooth work of art. The portions are larger than we thought and we ended up having a lot of left overs. We ordered an appetizer, a pizza, and chicken tikka and it was just way too much food. Love the atmosphere and a very friendly staff. This place is really special.

Yelp
This was a long time coming, but I FINALLY got to try Kinara! Firstly, I was blown away by the hospitality we were shown. Secondly, the variety and sheer number of items on the menu were impressive. One of the owners, Shahil, helped us out with his recs based on our food preferences (veg vs non veg), and each item delivered on presentation AND taste. For starters, we got the cauliflower Manchurian, chicken 69 bites, fire fries, chili paneer, and the popular pani puri shots (my fav). We all also enjoyed the mango magic mojitos for drinks! For the main course, we had lamb chops, the green lantern chicken, chicken tikka masala, paneer tikka masala, and vegetable biryani as well as garlic naan + garlic/chili naan. My favorite was the paneer tikka masala - so delicious and they chopped the paneer into the cutest cubes which made it easier and more satisfying to eat! We finished off our meal with masala chai served in the cutest tea cups paired with tea rusk. All of the food items were perfectly spiced and evenly cooked. The meat was very tender and juicy. Apart from the delicious meal, Kinara's ambience was cozy and modern. The neon signs added a fun touch and make for great photos. I had the best time at Kinara and will definitely be back next time I'm in SF!

Yelp
My all time favorite restaurant!! I don't care how far I have to drive I will come here regardless. The food here is unmatched. I can't say enough about how good the food is here. Especially the chicken tikka masala with the Naan. My favorite combo. Although, the food is spicy here I have to say. I also love the Indian music they play gives it Bollywood vibes. Their service is really good here as well, always checking up on their guest and making sure everything is good. Overall, you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We always enjoy going to Kinara, with good food and service. It was hard to get a reservation, but we got there as soon as it opened and they were able to accommodate us

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere and top service from our hostess Jeenu. We ordered the chicken cheese nan, beef ribs and paani puri and saved room for desserts. Falooda was rich and creamy and also had the paan ice cream. Great place with desi roots and modern flair. When are you bringing Kinara to LA?

Yelp
I've been here around three times now and each time it is such a cute, classy vibe. Absolutely can't find a more fun looking desi food place. The naan is perfect, flavorful and soft - amazing! The pani puri shots are fun, and chicken tikka pizza is delicious. Reg chicken tikka masala is good too. I would only dock a star for the tandoori fish and lamb. The fish was coated in way too much masala/pepper, and was a bit cold. Couldn't really taste the fish under all the seasoning. The lamb was also very little meat - small serving and half of it was bone lol. It was still good, just dry. Wished it came with a yogurt/chutney or something. Service was great! The workers are all super kind and fast. Do a great job keeping the place clean too, you see them wiping down and sweeping up well! Overall I would give it 4.5 stars!
