Ford Fry Is Closing King and Duke on Peachtree Road in Buckhead Atlanta - Eater Atlanta

"Ford Fry is closing his Buckhead restaurant King and Duke Sunday, June 18, after ten years at One Buckhead Plaza on Peachtree Road. The restaurant features a 24-foot wood-burning hearth and serves dishes fired over coal and wood, something Fry found to be 'primitive but exacting food'. It was this type of cooking technique, he said, which sparked the idea behind the restaurant’s name, King and Duke." - Beth McKibben

King + Duke - Review - Buckhead - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"When you walk into King + Duke, you’re hit by with the sight and smell of a 24-foot open-fire hearth. PSA: this is not somewhere to bring your vegetarian friends. Sure, the roasted vegetable tartine is fine, but you come to King + Duke to eat the highest quality animal protein you can get, like the whole roasted trout, roasted duck, and heritage pork chop. Also, the complimentary popovers are so good that they will almost convince you to not go for that final piece of steak that you were planning to take home as leftovers. Almost." - Sarah Bailey

Had a wonderful experience at King & Duke’s chef’s table. Highly recommend calling and asking to book. For $100 a person we were presented with a 5+ course menu and had the opportunity to sit in two chairs overlooking the open kitchen. As each course was presented, the chef came over and explained the dish and how it ties in with the season and local sourcing. The food was both innovative and delicious but I didn’t leave feeling uncomfortably full because it was also well spaced out. The chocolate mousse was to die for. Will definitely be back!

Came here for dinner as it was highly recommended. Didn't know what to expect so had an open mind. We came in a Tuesday night and the restaurant was busy. There was a nice buzz but not overly rowdy. Very interesting menu and we tried a bunch of dishes. All were good but none really stood out with that WOW factor. Drinks were well made and creative. The only other issue was service was slow. Other than that, you won't be upset coming here.

We enjoyed the Valentine Experience and ‘experience’ is an apt description. Princess Tiana was our server and she was absolutely delightful. Her recommendations were excellent and honest. The food and wine pairings were superb. The chef prepared an outstanding prixe menu and the ambience was perfect for a romantic dinner.

If I could give 10/5 stars I would!!! My husband booked the chefs table for our wedding anniversary and honestly I didn’t know what to expect… I’m a somewhat picky eater with a shellfish allergy so I was nervous about an unknown menu but when I tell you that EVERY. DAMN. DISH. Was 10000% beyond…… I mean it. I tried things I had never eaten because it looked so beautiful and the staff described each item so perfectly and deliciously and I am so grateful I did because OH MY GOD does this team know what they’re doing. Not only did the food taste incredibly fresh and full of flavor, it was complex in its layers of flavor and textures in the best ways. All of the 6 courses we had was one phenomenal experience after the other but the star of our dinner was the butterflied Branzino. While I’ve had delicious Branzino here in Atlanta and across the county, the way K&D served the fish with the most perfect flavors and crispy skin was by far my favorite. The entire staff made us feel warm, welcome, and celebrated on our special night. If you are looking for a beyond special tasting experience, with a wine pairing, please request Nick. He made the PERFECT wine selections for each course. We seriously cannot thank or recommend King & Duke enough for being such an incredibly delicious staple in Atlanta. If you haven’t gone yet- GO!!

This place is unreal. Everything about King + Duke tastes perfect, is perfect, or feels perfect. My girlfriend and I both had burgers — she likes it more cooked than I do, but they were both juicy and tasty. We loved the beef dripping fries too. The drinks were also incredible. I had the Daisy Buchanan with extra pepper and it was balanced perfectly. … I haven’t mentioned the best part yet though! We loved the staff. Our waiter was one of our favorite waiters ever. He helped us with the menu, gave us recommendations, and made us laugh! 11/10!

The physical space is beautiful and well designed. The food is excellent and would compete well in any major city. The service keeps me from giving this a full five stars. The design of this place is smart and tasteful. There's some outdoor seating and an outdoor bar. Lots of natural light. Unlike many places in Atlanta, the physical plant isn't ostentatious or pretentious. The tables are very small and a little close to each other, creating a noisy ambiance. I was sitting with my back towards another table about 2-3 feet away and found myself occasionally leaning towards my guests to hear them. I'm a big fan of good bread - you know, the kind that's worth the carbs - and when a restaurant can invest in the care and attention to serving good bread, it's an encouraging omen. This place had really good bread to start the meal. The butter was soft at room temperature. The octopus was above average but nothing special. The bone marrow was good according to my friend. The croquettes were better than most places - I'm not really a fan of croquettes but these were pretty good. The sea bass was excellent. My friends seem pleased with the dessert. The wine was interesting. They had a seemingly good selection, but for some reason my Sauvignon Blanc was sweet. If you know your wines, you're probably confused. I was too. I wondered if they brought me the wrong glass. I ended the night with a 12-year Japanese whiskey served with a block ice. Our waiter was a nice guy and made an effort. His timing was a little off at the beginning (seemed impatient) but overall he was excellent. The reason I am not giving this five stars is that the evening started with poor service and that was the first topic of conversation at my dinner table. For example, when I arrived at the restaurant the guy at the front desk basically said "yeah they're over there. Just keep walking and you'll see them." When I sat down at a table, my friends also commented about how short and uninterested he was in their table request when they arrived. Tonight, the restaurant was busy but not anywhere near sold out. They were plenty of tables. I look forward to coming back and trying out the outdoor space. I think if management could elevate their service level this could be one of the best restaurants in Atlanta at this price point.

If at all possible get a table with July. Great knowledgeable, friendly and attentive server. Great for small groups, business lunch or dinner and even dates. Highly recommend reservations for dinner service. Food quality: 4.5 Customer & Food Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended by my financial consultant, as “consistently good food and service.” Enough said. As a fine dining experience, very good dare I say in between a very satisfactory to excellent. For a busy Saturday night, at dinner rush, great service and food! Appetizer: Octopus tiny portions but a great amuse-bouche, wish there were more pieces, excellently seasoned and grilled to perfection not too chewy, mini potatoes nice balance. Entrees: The vichyssoise was creamy and light with the flavors of a perfectly puréed onions and leeks with a hint of basil. The flounder was cooked perfectly crispy on the outside and flaky and falling apart beautifully on the inside, garnished with the caramelized garlic which was not overpowering one bit and fresh basil leaves on the side it was an entree worth waiting for. The side of roasted artichokes were beautifully steam blissed and roasted, had a great chargrilled taste a bit burnt but nevertheless not everything can be perfection green olives while aesthetically pleasing were not the best salty complement to a savory artichoke, lemon rind added flavor but not enough zest. Steak was medium rare cooked, excellent cut and less is more seasoning. Garnished well and complemented the meat. Side of chargrilled Broccoli stems were perfectly blanched and grilled and seasoned. Dessert: what is there to say except light, not overly creamy and delicious definitely worth the guilty pleasure. Who knew banana pudding could be light and not guilty, loved the crumbles of bread and the homemade whipped cream (to kill for). We’ll be back!

First time here was more than what I imagined! I booked a reservation for my fiancé’s surprise birthday dinner including a group of friends that came into town. Upon entering, we were greeted with a warm welcome and we were guided to our seats. Along the way to our table, we were fascinated by the wood-burning aromas from the kitchen, the dim lighting, the soft-acoustics in the background of guest conversations, a picturesque view of Buckhead Village and an homely open patio. Our server Brandyn was more than amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable and ensured that we had a great experience. Lamont, the manager, made sure that he interacted with all of the guests around the restaurant, helping out his staff as needed. The dinner was truly satisfying! From starters to desserts, the beverages and comfortable seating we felt like we were at a “home-away-from-home!” They provided us with complimentary champagne, green tea-whiskey combo and a special sundae (with a birthday card from the staff) for my fiancé. If you want a restaurant that offers versatile seating (indoors/outdoors), a tastefully satisfying menu, a caring and pleasant staff and an accommodating, intimate ambiance—this is the place. King+Duke gave us all an experience that is unmatched and we’re excited to return!

Yelp
This place never disappoints! I invited some friends for dinner and this place hit home run! I had the new Mahi Mahi and it was so fresh and light! My guest had the burger , duck and they were in shocked as to how good everything tasted. The service has always been great and they sure go above and beyond. We had the chance to eat outside and the ambiance is great and breezy. If you are looking for a place to take your special someone or a friend? Look no further than King + Duke. ASK FOR POPPERS!

Yelp
King + Duke is a long time favorite of ours. We love the ambiance, the seasonal menu and service. The menu feels both eclectic and traditional. Who doesn't like dinner by lamplight? It felt romantic to us! We started with baked burrata with toast. I followed our appetizer with a burger (aka The Duke) and fries. My husband chose the Lamb Tbone. He left no crumbs, so I happily gave him half my burger. It was so good (carmelized onions melt in your mouth), but I was reaching my fill. Our waiter was a young man trying to break into acting. I offered my coaching (lol!) and we all had a hearty laugh over that! It was such a delightful evening from start to finish. I highly recommend King + Duke for your next date night or guys'/ladies' night out. Cheers!

Yelp
I just realized that I had not finished my review of King and Duke; when I returned to do so, I discovered that it has since closed. I am very saddened by this news as it was a fantastic open hearth kitchen with great ambiance and even better food!

Yelp
Ordered the King Steak, it was a solid piece of steak but nothing out of this world. I did however really like the presentation. Also ordered the summer squash which was tasty and different but little too much cheese for my taste. Service was top notch. And the restaurant was gorgeous. I would return but probably will not order the King Steak, i just don't think it was worth the money.

Yelp
Frankly I had forgotten how great King + Duke is until my visit this week. First, dining during the week will always be superior to weekends, imo, and I enjoyed a great experience on a Thursday evening seated at the bar. Quick considerations: the space is lovely, and simultaneously upscale and grand but still quite cozy feeling. The menu is arguably fairly brief but highly interesting and not missing much, if anything. The service has, on this trip and others, always been impeccable and knowledgeable. There's an artful dance to serving dinner at the bar and the staff here gets that (thanks Tiffany!) - never too much time passed between needing anything and it arriving, but either by design or busyness there was never any intrusion, and lots of perfect recommendations. The mushroom side dish: this might sincerely be one of the most interesting things I've eaten recently. Apparently they're smoked for an absurd amount of time and then grilled and served on a dreamy layer of what is likely butter and magic. They're a dream. Order. The. Mushrooms. The steak tartare was perfect - served with a few thinly sliced chips on top, with a side of crusty bread that looked great but just isn't really my thing... Because I prefer fries - and the fries here are every bit worth every indulgence. I'm a huge fan of a fries/champagne situation (it's an immaculate pairing, you're welcome.) and enjoy both is exactly what I did. These are super crunchy, soft in the inside, fat fried fries. If you like commercial frozen fries these aren't for you. These are legit. Having forgotten how substantially interesting they are.... I will be back soon for them. For science, of course. The Duck confit - called a shank but felt like confit to me - was excellent, fat fully rendered and flavorful. Sticky toffee pudding... was perhaps not sticky enough? It was delish but very cake like - but I'm also not an expert STP taster, so that might be a me thing. 9/10 would eat a bite of any dessert so it really was not a miss at all. Decent bourbon selection (a few interesting things in addition to the basics) and a succinct but great wine by the glass list. Wrapping up, I regret neglecting this spot so much. Yum.

Yelp
Outstanding dinner spot in Buckhead. Went with a work party so everything was served family style. The kitchen is open and you can easily see the grills and steaks cooking in cast iron pans. Really cool feature to the restaurant. Solid bourbon list with great prices. As for the food, I really enjoyed the Amberjack and the Sirloin. The Georgia Shrimp is a fantastic appetizer. Definitely recommend for a date night.

Very flavorful but limited in options. Enjoyed the burger and various drinks on the cocktail menu

Yelp
5 Stars all the way! I've been wanting to come here for a few years now and so glad I finally did. I made reservations through open table with ease and upon arrival, there were no issues. The host was very friendly and sat us right away. We had a good view of the kitchen in nice corner booth. We ordered the bone in ribeye and branzino. The ribeye was ordered as medium and came more medium well and took a very long time to grill. We did have the popovers which were delicious and just enough to tie us over. The steak was absolutely delicious and juicy. The russet potatoes it came with were addicting! The branzino was good, very tender and falling apart on your fork. It was a little difficult eating with my fork in the left hand so I had to switch. The tomatoes were piping roasted hot and very delicious. The service was the best in town so far. Cavin was beyond great, really genuine and he made sure to really understand how to pace our night of dining. I cannot wait to go back again. Thank you for such a wonderful evening!

Yelp
Came here for date night. The menu is on the small side, but they are accommodating to allergies. They forgot to bring us our fries but my pork chop portion was generous. The pasta was flavorful but not too big. Parking was valet only and upon validation costs 2 dollars+tip. Not too bad.

Yelp
This is a beautiful restaurant with stellar service and food. The service was the highlight!!! So attentive! The bread they give you is amazing! I had the branzino and it was cooked to perfection! It was flaky and tender..:.the English peas were nice as well. Overall excellent experience. I look forward to returning!

Yelp
This may not be the popular review but it's honest I brought a party of eight to King + Duke for a business dinner. Having been there before, and not being overly impressed. It was requested that we go there this evening. Looking through the menu, I will say that most restaurants have something for everyone, not this place. I ordered appetizers for the table, most of which were seafood and I was unable to eat them, but that was primarily because they weren't very many choices. Their main courses consisted of a few potentially interesting choices. Not feeling like having any of the items offered I settled for a $26 hamburger. To be brutally honest, they tried to upsell myself and most of my guests with their orders. The burger was very salty And the fries were not very good. My guests enjoyed their meals and I made no complaints about my meal. One of my guests ordered a drink that I was charged for and never came to the table. Dinner for eight was over $900 (with tip) and not worth it by any means. The wait staff was friendly drinks were brought out in a reasonably good period of time. Limited menu and simply not worth the price and the place is LOUD!

Yelp
King + Duke's staff did an excellent job seating us so we had a great view of the restaurant and maintained social distancing. The service is outstanding and our waitress answered every single question we had pertaining to the menu, drink options and most recommended dishes diners preferred. Prior to our meal arriving we were served warm popovers and when I say this bread is so good and so addictive it'll vanish before you even realize it. It's light and airy and with the added butter it's just delicious. I almost wanted to ask for more, but didn't because I wanted to leave room for the main course. You will absolutely feel like royalty when that perfectly prepared King Tomahawk appears at your table. I prefer my steak medium and the chef did an excellent job executing our request. I was able to cut through the meat as if I were cutting f through butter and the first bite melted in my mouth. The potatoes were an excellent pairing and created a nice balance. There was more than enough left to take home and then we happily moved on to dessert. Our server suggested the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and OH MY GOD!! The warm pudding drizzled in all that gooey goodness didn't last long. I will say if you plan on visiting, budget accordingly because with great service you tend to order extra items. It's a great location for a date night or even gathering with friends. Don't take too long to visit this gem.

Yelp
I came here for my monthly girl's dinner club dinners, and I instantly wanted to come back with my fiance! We tried almost every appetizer on the menu as well as several different cocktails. Everything was DELICIOUS!! I had the burger as my entree, and it was scrumptious. Parking isn't the easiest, but given the location, it makes sense. I had to park in an expensive garage that was about 20 yards away. Maybe because I was trying to hurry up and park--possibly there are cheaper options nearby. Alas, this is a must-visit!

Yelp
Talked a big game -- nice atmosphere, wood fire grill, cool decor -- but delivered McDonalds. Pork chop was pretty boring. Medium rare waygu steak was more like rare+ and tasteless. Medium burger was barely medium rare. For the price -- and it IS pricey for what you get -- I expect way more. Cooks and Solders is leaps and bounds better is every regard

Yelp
What a beautiful restaurant with friendly and attentive staff. Our waitress was fantastic with great energy. Whiskey ginger cocktail is yummy The food.... Bread-hot and yummy Lamb belly- yes to this! Great to share. Fries- amazing!! You want these fries in your life. Iberico pork- for $42 I was expecting a hearty dish. I was a bit shocked at how small of an entree it was. Yes it comes with a story but I can't eat a story. The meal was good but at this price point I expect mind blowing. I would skip this dish at this price. Brussel sprouts- good but for $15 I have had better.

Yelp
We came here for date night and it was a great experience! The ambience is very nice - dimly lit and rustic decor with a great city street view. We sat indoors but there was outdoor seating available as well. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and provided wonderful service. It was a cold night so we ordered onion soup to start and I was feeling a little adventurous so we also got the BCF Steak Tartare. I'd never had steak tartare so it was definitely interesting to try - it's more chewy than tuna tartare, but the pickled mustard seeds and capers complimented the meat well. We ordered the Duke burger as our entree and that was delicious! Very meaty and filling - quite heavy so I was unable to finish mine after those appetizers! Next time I'd only go with one starter or come hungrier!

Yelp
Love this place. The customer service is amazing! The drinks are strong! The food is fresh. Valet only $2. The food prices are a lil high but worth it. The ambiance is very attractive, casual but classy. The bar steak was very good, tender, tasty! Not over seasoned but the best thing on my table was the cheese bread! It was so good we asked for a second order. I had the hill house cocktail which was extremely strong. I wasn't a fan of the beet side. Overall this dinner was a success. Def a must try while in ATL.

Hannah K.

Yelp
I came here because Jackie Hill Perry recommended it on her social media. I didn't regret it. The "literature" themed decor made my heart happy. I also saw some storm troopers on the wall, which is an added bonus. The food was what made the trip to Atlanta worth it though. The burger melted in mouth. Although you can get a burger and fries anywhere... King + Duke takes it to another level. My husband ordered pork chops that was also very good! Interestingly enough, the bread was an unexpected pleasure. So light, fluffy, crispy and flavorful!

Yelp
I've always wanted to try this restaurant out before COVID-19 came to town. So finally, me & my fiancé took the drive to dine in. Check out my experience below: Parking: Parking is confusing and needs to be validated or risk paying! Outside Decor: Very nice, it was dark but they have patio seating which I prefer since it's easy to transmit covid via through the circulation of the air conditioning in a closed area Food: Now this is where the four stars come into play: Entree: My chicken wasn't all that. It seemed like the flavor was inside of the sauce than it was in the chicken. In contrast, my fiancé's burger was very delicious! Try the burger you will not be disappointed! The appetizers: the shrimp appetizer was delicious, and the duck was too, but too filling so beware if you're not trying to get full quick! The cocktail drinks were pretty interesting for me. Service: WAS PHENOMENAL! Great customer service!! I would probably come back just off of that alone!

Yelp
Oh there's so much to say... this was for a date night where we reserved on open table for 7:45 pm on a Friday. King and Duke has been a place I've been wanting to visit for yeaaaars, like probably since 2016 or 2017 when I heard about this place. My bf decided to treat us to a nice date night but was left with a bitter taste in our mouths (literally) about King and Duke. We had reservations for 7:45 but was about ten minutes late (we even replied to their texting system that we were on our way) but when we arrived at 7:55, we were just told to take a seat in the waiting area... we finally got seated about 10-15 minutes later. -- weird bc now I'm thinking if we arrived on time, we would've had to wait 20-25 min for a table? Maybe they gave away our table in that ten minutes? Just unusual to go ahead and give away our table that soon. This is just the beginning of our weird night here... The restaurant was busy but it did seem to take forever to even get greeted and have our server take our drink orders... then it took forever to get our drinks. We finally got our beer and one cocktail around 8:30. Even when we were waiting for our drinks, the manager noticed how dry our water glasses were and asked if we had anyone stop by yet. He could clearly tell our table was a little neglected but we really aren't the type to complain unless something is really wrong. We finally got some bread service which was absolutely delicious (taste like a croissant). When we got our drinks, we ordered our apps (venison tartare $21) and the branzino entree to share ($32) and the Maitake mushroom ($21) and beef dripping fries ($7). The app arrived about ten minutes later (8:40?) but we were absolutely done with our app by 8:55... and then we waited, and waited, it was around 9:10 when I decided to communicate to our server we had somewhere to be at 9:30 so we needed boxes and the check as soon as the food arrives. Our entree and sides arrive at 9:15 (20 minutes after we finished our app?) and literally half our meal was burnt. At first it was hard to see bc of how dark the place is but when I shined my phone flashlight, it was clear that they serviced us completely burnt foods. The $21 Maitake mushroom was inedible. Half the mushroom was black, we each tried one bite and the burnt flavor completely overtook the flavor of anything else the mushroom had. Half the branzino was burnt (it was nice that they plated the branzino separately when they knew we wanted to share an entree).. unfortunately my bf was the one that got the burnt side and he's slightly asthmatic so he went into a complete coughing fit. I traded branzino with him bc I didn't mind the burnt skin (still not the acceptable standard) but we were already late and didn't want to leave hungry. The server came to check in on us and brought us the check and we had to let her know about the food. We apologized for complaining bc we know it's not her fault, and it's the kitchen that cooked the food, but with how unhappy we were with the quality of food being, we had to let her know. We shined the light on our food and asked if that's the normal color for the mushroom and she was very understanding and knew the color of the food indicated it was burnt and asked how she could make it right (which is excellent customer service)- we told her the mushroom was inedible and honestly just wanted that comped bc we don't even want to take it with us. The branzino being half burnt wasn't a big deal bc it wasn't AS burnt as the mushroom. She immediately took the mushroom away and the receipt and adjusted our bill for the mushrooms and even the branzino- which we highly appreciated bc it really isn't up to fine dining standards. Again, we hate complaining and we don't do it unless it's something seriously wrong. Attached are pictures of the food we got so you can judge for yourself. It's so unfortunate that my first experience with king and duke was like this as I was very excited to try them. Burnt food aside, service was terribly slow even though our server was extremely nice and well mannered. She did have a large table near us so initially we got slightly neglected a bit until we started voicing our needs (time crunch, togo box, burnt food, etc). I have heard from others after speaking to them about my experience here that King and Dukes quality has been going downhill...I'd like to try them again but it will probably be a while until I start hearing good things again. The food is way too pricey and we are way too busy to chance another disappointing dinner.

Yelp
Nice ambiance indoors and outdoors. Made a reservation for the outdoor seating which is nice with the wood tables on a platform. It was nice as you could see the view of passerby's and such. It wasn't too hot and the fans helped so we were comfortable. The drinks were pretty good. My old fashion was strong which I appreciated. Their bread is quite good as the inside is soft. My husband ordered the Duke which he wasn't able to finish (mostly because we were on a time crunch). The dipping sauce was scrumptious. I ordered the Shoebox chicken which was also fantastic. The salsa verde sauce is very good. And for the sides, I had the broccoli which may be the best sauce I've had for broccoli. It was cooked to perfection as it was not too soft and still had some firmness. I especially enjoyed the lemony sauce with the sunflower seed. I'm definitely ordered it again. Our waitress was quite nice and she assured us that we would be able to finish our meal within the time frame that we requested. We were going to the Van Gogh Experience and made it on time. We really enjoyed our dinner and would totally return to this restaurant.

Yelp
Dinner for our anniversary. We ordered sparking wine and cocktail, but the couple that came in after us got complimentary champagnes for their anniversary but not us!! 5 stars are for the shrimp appetizer and bread! The bar steak was great but the pork chop is not good, they fried the pork chop, too much sauce and too salty. No complementary dessert or anything for our anniversary.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience at King & Duke's chef's table. Highly recommend calling and asking to book. For $100 a person we were presented with a 5+ course menu and had the opportunity to sit in two chairs overlooking the open kitchen. As each course was presented, the chef came over and explained the dish and how it ties in with the season and local sourcing. The food was both innovative and delicious but I didn't leave feeling uncomfortably full because it was also well spaced out. The chocolate mousse was to die for. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Very good service and food! Chef Parhm and his team do an amazing job preparing all of the dishes. We especially loved that you could see the wood fire grills from the table.

Yelp
I had a great dinner here! Nice ambiance, attentive service, and very good food. I just wish I had come a week earlier when apparently Jennifer Lawrence was there. Our waiter was an older gentleman who was very engaging and attentive. The complimentary popovers were crazy good, so much for my GF diet. For the folks who had more willpower than me and stuck with a GF diet, they brought out carrots with jam which was a nice touch and very good. I had the brussel sprouts, potato puree, and scallops which were all pretty good. Check out the large wood burning fire they use to cook most of their items in the kitchen which is pretty cool.

Yelp
A few weeks ago @safaduffa and I wanted to try something new / different and we ended up making a reservation at @kinganddukeatl by @fordfry When Ford Fry makes a restaurant you know it's going to be good and it most definitely was. We both tried the burger and fries and man was it delicious let's breakdown why: 1. Preparation: the self proclaimed center piece of this restaurant is a 24 foot hearth where ever item is grilled on top of wood making for an absolutely delicious smokey taste on every item 2. The burger itself: this is a thick burger that we asked for medium, it's incredibly juicy and requires no toppings to be honest. It comes with caramelized onions and in a soft but crisp bun that is also toasted over the fire 3. The fries: man these fries are good... they call them beef dropping dripping fries because they're likely cooked in beef fat, they were extremely crispy and tasted great Bonus: service was really good here, our waiter talked to us just enough, very friendly but didn't talk to us too much and not too little. If you're looking to try an upscale non-stack burger that's a bit different check out King and Duke.

Yelp
Great vibe, great drinks, and some incredible food. The stars were the artichoke, the bread they served, and the redfish. Dessert was also amazing, especially the crème brûlée. The burger, which they have in limited amounts, was good. I though the bread wasn't as good as the meat itself, which sounds dumb but is an important and underrated part of it all! My friend, however, said he thought it was amazing so maybe it's just me. Not cheap- but it seems nothing is!

Yelp
My friend had been wanting to try out this place for a while now and I joined her since everything looked great. We had made a reservation, so we didn't have any wait time at all as soon as we got there. We sat outside and everyone was very spread apart for social distancing. It was also a tad chilly, so they turned on the heater for us! We started off with drinks and I got the Half in Love which I was fully in love with. Then, they brought out some bread to start with which was some of the best bread and butter I've ever had. We got to grilled octopus to start with, and it was very flavorful. It was also a decently sized portion too. We both got "The Duke" as our main and it was very tasty and a huge portion for us. I ended up taking half of it home. I wish we had more room for dessert, but maybe next time. I'd say the service and food was amazing, and I can't wait to go back. Keep in mind this place is a little bit on the pricier side, but it's worth it.

Yelp
Beautifully intimate restaurant with cozy vibes. We were seated in their upstairs area as a group of 5. The waitress was very attentive and gave us plenty of suggestions since it was our first time there. Food: The complimentary bread popovers were still hot and delicious with the butter. We ordered a couple of appetizers for the table. The octopus while tiny, was very delicious. I'm generally not a big fan of shrimp, but everyone else really enjoyed the gulf shrimp and the sauce it came with was seasoned well. For our entrees, my boyfriend and I shared the KC strips. It was pretty good except for the fact that we had ordered medium, but it was pretty fatty and cooked a little too under for our liking. The side of fries was enough for the entire table. The others at our table ordered the fish and the chicken. The fish was a bit over cooked in everyone's opinion, but the chicken was a crowd favorite. The chicken was juicy and tasted amazing. The food and drinks here are good, but pretty pricy. It is a great place for a celebration or special event.

Yelp
I came here as a prom pre-dinner (party of 10) in mid April, and we had an overall great experience. The majority of other parties there were also eating for prom, and it was pretty busy around 7 when we were there. The waitress was super friendly, super patient, and overall gave us incredible service. The prices were pretty high (though normal for fine dining), and most of us ended up getting the burger and fries. The burger was standard, nothing special but satisfactory, but the fries were definitely the highlight of the night (crisp, perfectly seasoned, and generously piled). I got the duck wings as a starter, and thought they were decent (basically juicier chicken) and the feta squash was decent as well. What pushed the overall experience from 4 stars to 5 was the incredible chef who specially made a dessert for one of the girls in our party who is allergic to almost everything. We were able to get accommodations for dinner for her, and the fruit dessert given to her was the cherry on top (it wasn't that good but the gesture was really nice). Overall food was a 7.5/10, ambiance was a 9/10, and service was an 11/10! Would recommend on a special occasion if American fine-dining is your style.

Yelp
Our experience was spot on from start to finish. We had such a nice greeting from the front end staff where we were then taken to the Chef's Counter for two. It was the perfect date night. Watching the staff in the Kitchen, the Chef and Soux Chef, was where you could tell that talent matters. Our waitress, Tatianna, was so professional, attentive, and knowledgeable. She took the time to explain everything on the menu we asked about and had a wonderful support staff as well who assisted w/water, delivery of food etc. We started w/two awesome specialty drinks~ The Cinderella Slipper and a refreshing gin martini. We enjoyed our special cheese appetizer that also came w/the best perfectly grilled bread-(so good for dunking that we ate it all up!) specialty sautéed mushrooms, crispy truffle fries, Parmesan Arugula salad and the Wagyu steak which was so perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender and so delicious. We finished things up w/the sticky pudding and chocolate mouse and both were delicious as well. After we were finishing up our amazing meal, we were told that from the waitress that there was a nearby table of about 10 people w/adults and young teenagers who told their waiter that their Wagyu was the best steak they had ever had. If you haven't been to King + Duke before GO....If you haven't been in a while it is time to GO AGAIN! From the service, culinary talent and the ambience we can't say enough good things!

Yelp
The aesthetics of this restaurant blew me away. The way the natural light cascades through the windows. The bookshelves. The wood and iron. The beautiful bar. I was beyond pleased. We came in on a Sunday for a brunch reservation and were seated promptly. We ended up ordering coffee cake muffins for appetizers which were pretty yummy, especially with the butter, and they went well with my coffee. I subsequently ordered a mimosa and another cocktail called MY TRUE LOVE. It was wl weller bourbon, poached pear, pure maple, lemon ($10). The name sold me but I should have listened to the server. It was very boozy. I nearly didn't finish it. Very well made cocktail though. I decided on the steak+eggs ($19) which comes with raclette, sourdough bread underneath the steak, and spicy giardiniera. I ordered mine medium well although the server repeatedly suggested that the chef recommends medium rare. Listen....people have preferences. My preference is medium well so do what you want. I asked for my eggs scrambled too. This was a new take on their steak and eggs because previously it was served differently. I like the version better. It was so delicious. The steak wasn't really tender but it was well seasoned. I do wish they had scrambled my eggs a little more so they weren't runny but fluffy. All in all, it was a solid choice. The sourdough bread was such an interesting twist to the dish. For dessert, I ordered the doughnuts. The four of us were able to have a half of a doughnut and one person opted for the doughnut ball so it was enough to share. Similar to krispy kreme but much more dense. Yeah this meal was great and I might bring my parents back here soon. Fry Restaurants are 4-0 for me right now.

Yelp
We came here for my birthday and the service was excellent. Upon arriving they provided complimentary drinks and popovers. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because after we ordered it did take a long time to get our main courses. It took over an hour before we got our meals in. However, in the meantime they did check in several times and offered complimentary tea and crackers while we waited. The service was still great even though there was a wait. When we received our main course, the scallops and steak did seem a bit cold however our friend who got the chicken, was nice and warm. It seemed as though our plates were waiting out for awhile. We did request to get our plates warmed up, which they were on top of. Other than the wait on our meal, the service and food was great.

Yelp
We had date night here during COVID pandemic and really enjoyed our time. Ashley was our server and she did great. For starters we got the shrimp dish and kale salad which were both phenomenal! I loved the bread poppers that they serve complimentary. I had the lazy man lobster meal which was worth every penny and delivered on soooo many flavors. My husband had the Duke with fries which he liked. We topped it off with the toffee bread budding and ice cream which was to die for! We loved everything we consumed! The indoor dining was also romantic. We will be regulars here - when we come back we will dine on heated patio and have a drink my the bonfire! So cool.

Yelp
There will be a wait. I stopped in early evening after business meetings nearby and couldn't help but notice that outside seating was all taken. Upon entering I was told there would be a 30 min wait unless I sat at the bar. I noticed two seats closer to the kitchen but these may have been special and not part of the bar. Service was attentive but not overbearing. While I'd love to dine here all the time, this truly would be a great spot for a special date night. I picked the halibut and it was done to perfection. I also opted for a side of the cheesy potato puree and am so glad that I did. Portion size was ample for both. The bar has a huge selection of wine and mixed drinks that will please. I've been to other Ford Fry spots in ATL and K+D lives up to what I've come to expect.

Yelp
I went to King and Duke with a friend for New Years Eve. We went anticipating an amazing meal from what we thought was one of the nicer restaurants in the area. We both ordered their New Years special. A 4 course meal with wine pairing. The service was great, the wine pretty good but the food was terrible. We only took a couple of bites and was disappointed with each course. They are going to really have to work on their menu if they are going to charge$125. a plate and an additional $50. for wine. I don't ever mind paying a little more for great food but this was really bad.

Yelp
Loved this restaurant! Just our speed - very rustic cooking style but food was excellent and different . Cocktails were on point! Service and attention to detail was perfection. Will definitely return when we visit Atlanta again !!

Yelp
Excellent experience! I had actually heard of King + Duke from watching Chopped and immediately wanted to check it out. I was not disappointed. The service is amazing and the food is even better. Cannot wait to go back

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere at King + Duke. Parking can get a little confusing though. There is valet available and also a parking deck. It's not immediately apparent if either are validated. Some of my friends parked in the expensive parking deck. When I saw the prices per hour, I immediately asked a valet attendant if it was validated. He told me that the parking deck is not, but valet service is. So I pulled my car back around and valeted. The menu can also get a little confusing. It's not clear what is an appetizer and what is a main entree. In fact I'm still a little hazy as to which is which. Labels in the menu would be helpful. Our waitress was very nice and gave us a few suggestions. We ordered the Grilled Artichoke, Brussels Sprout Salad, Smoked Chicken Wings, and Maple Glazed Lamb Ribs. It was my first time trying a whole grilled artichoke, and I have to be honest, I wasn't 100% certain how to eat it. The brussels sprout salad was not exactly what I was expecting. I thought it would be whole brussels sprouts, but instead, it came out looking like cole slaw. The lamb ribs were ok, as were the chicken wings. But for the price I would have wished for more. And finallly, for our main entree, we went bold and shared The King for $109. It is a 40oz tomahawk ribeye that serves 2-4. It was also served with bone marrow which was interesting. But again, I guess I'm not sophisticated enough, but I wasn't completely sure how to eat it. I guess you scrape the marrow out of the bone and eat it with the bread? The tomahawk was good, but super fatty. I estimate that 30% of the weight was lost to the bone and fat. We also ran into an incident with the waitress. She was cleaning off another table and must've lost her footing and spilled some food on us. To her credit, she was very apologetic and it was just an accident. But it made me realize that the tables were pushed a bit too closely together, which limited her space to move about. Overall, the food was good and the waitress was very nice to us. We also had some bottles of wine and cocktails which were good. But for the price, I expected more. Added to the confusion with the parking situation and the menu, plus the incident during our visit, a restaurant that could easily be 4 or 5 stars is rated 3 stars based upon my recent visit.

Yelp
This is such a cute place! Went here for my brothers birthday a couple weeks ago. I got the scallops which were really good and of course the popover bread they bring to the table is amazing. Love the atmosphere too. Would recommend for date night!

Yelp
Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience with the food at king and duke. We ordered the butter lettuce salad and they brought us Romain lettuce with seeds all over it, and very little dressing, I ordered the shrimp, and it was so overloaded with hot sauce and parsley flakes That it was unbearable to eat and we also ordered a hamburger and the meat was grizzly and almost raw. The popovers were excellent. The weight staff was very good. I mentioned to our waiter that we had tried to make reservations and they only had reservations from 4 o'clock until 5 o'clock. However, when we arrived at six, the restaurant was empty. We've eaten there on several occasions and we're very disappointed with the food this time. The restaurant looked very clean and organized.

Yelp
Fantastic dinner experience here at King + Duke. The staff was incredible. A special shoutout to Tionna our waitress who went above and beyond. She was incredible and her service was exemplary. The gulf shrimp, halibut, carrots, artichokes, and brownie sundae were out of this world. All the food was a knockout. Drinks were delicious. We were lucky enough to sit on the patio and it was a beautiful evening. Cannot wait to come back.

Yelp
After numerous times of walking past King + Duke, I decided to give it a try. Located on the corner of Peachtree and West Paces, you can't miss it! I was able to call and get a reservation the same evening but it was a Tuesday so I would suggest calling ahead if you're trying to go on a more popular night. The ambiance of the places was very sexy... low lighting which I love.It only took about 5 min to get sat and we were greeted by our lovely waitress. She was petty knew but very knowledgeable like she had been there for years.... We started with the complimentary bread which was ridiculously good, soft and flavorful! I ordered the duck shank to start and I must say it was definitely on the dry side, flavor was there but trying to get through the texture was a challenge for me. Instead of an entree I ordered the gulf shrimp with a side of mushrooms. The shrimp was really good! Nice size pieces and had a nice kick to them (If you don't like spice, I would avoid this dish). The mushrooms were super fancy and tasty but a bit overpriced in my opinion. I also had the pleasure of having the French fries with beef fat and they were delicious!!! I had a glass of cab to accompany my meal and was very pleased overall with my experience. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
The pasta was to die for! So light and sauce was also creamy, seasoned just right and portion was very generous! If you are looking for an appetizer grab the Serrano peppers!! Service was 5 star and ambiance is perfect for date night!

Yelp
Sadly this place did not meet my expectations. The drinks were OK but super overpriced just like the rest of the menu for the quality you're consuming. The bread was super tasty and light and kind of our favorite of the night (what a bummer). I tried the spanish octopus as a starter, swordfish as main, and beef fries (which were literally just fries with ketchup???). My partner had the duck starter which he enjoyed and the steak main (not the tomahawk because it was $119 lol) and he said it was overdone and rough which I agreed even if the flavor was okay. He had the orange sorbet cake which he said tasted like an orange peel but I mean I could have guessed that lol The total was $235 after 5 drinks, 2 starters, 2 mains, and a dessert which was less than I expected but not very worth it in the end.
